Sarv and Mary I am so glad I waiting until now to read the posts. Between the two of you I am now reconsidering my dinner choices.
Babs, keeping the hopes that mum's birthday is celebrated with her twin in grand style.
Darius I am hoping that as I type you are sitting next to your sister cheering your neice on. You are family and you belong there. As far as the tags go you and DH are two of a kind. Last year he didn't realize his were expired until the nice policeman kindly wrote it down for him on the $500.00 so he would never forget again. You have had a few other things on your mind so I can see how that little job slipped by. Glad you discovered it before a nice policeman had to write it on paper for you too.
Well I need to get some clothes ironed for work this week. DD was so kind as to wash a load of my clothes but just left them clumped together in the basket on the dryer. So now everything needs to be ironed or rewashed to get the wrinkles out. Sometimes her kind thoughts cost me twice as much time to fix. AAARRRRGGGG
Best of the evening and waves to all~~~~~~
Coffee and....Monday, May 15
I'm still cleaning........do you think I am PG? LOL LOL Decided to tackle my armoire where I have just thrown things all winter. It is now all organized, the two drawers below it were dumped out and refilled. Then I took a bunch of winter stuff/sweaters upstairs and put them away for the summer. Also brought down a couple of armfuls of summer clothes. I just hopped out of the shower and I'm trying to talk DH into making me a strawberry shake. So far he's saying NO. But I know the minute I hit the hay he will be making himself one. Wrestling is on tonight, so I retire to my bedroom early and let him watch that crap by himself.
Maria, the sun came out for about 1/2 hr tonight. It will be at your place in a couple of days. Heard on the national news that you are getting dumped on...We had 50 hrs of rain...I've never seen it so wet... Our grass is so long we will have to bale it up.
Carat- at least DD tried to help!! Toss it back in the dryer with a damp towel. Works every time. (DH just got up to make me a treat....)
Well, I would go hide in a closet if I had one neat enough to get into! Ya'll have gone into a Spring Cleaning CRAZE!!! I am so impressed with all you have been able to get done. I know it feels good to look around and see results. I have not as yet gotten hit over the head by the cleaning bug, but I;m sure it will happen before long. I dread it coming but look forward to the wonderful feeling afterward. I promise - I will catch up with you cleaning maniacs.
Jade is absolutely beautiful! That kid ain't too shabby either!
meezer - KEEP THAT CARD!!! It is priceless.
darius - don't forget to take your camera.
I have to take a pain pill now to ease the whole body ache so I won't be worth shooting til tomorrow.
(((hugs))) and ~~~ing to all ya'll

Hi Yall,
I got back here about 7:45 this evening. I had a van load of plants. MicheleJolie went with me and she was very conservative in her choices. Her plants only took the floor behind the last seat. Mine were everywhere else.
Forgive me, the camera stayed in my canvas tote. I know, I hit my head on the side door frame and saw stars, so I wasn't thinking clearly, that's the ticket right?
I was hoping someone else would take photos but I don't recall anyone with a camera. We are absolutely shameful. But I can take some photos of the plants when the sun rises tomorrow.
I had a lovely visit with MicheleJolie, Sugarweed, FlaJaxGardener, Carol from north of me and Gracie and her D, Peter, and Jeremy's Christine.
It took me quite a while to catch up on my threads, but finally made it.
Tomorrow, we put plants in the ground And water water water. They predicted 50% chance of rain today, but it never got to my house. Maybe their predictions for rain tonight will come through.
Well, pizza is cooking, better keep an eye on it.
Molly
:^)))
Just so I don't forgot or fall asleep before it is done, we'll see ya here tomorrow: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/603217/
Defoe and Sarv, We are suppose to have rotten weather till Sunday!
I finally got enough courage to go down cellar, it was not as bad as I thought it might be, just a leak seeping throught the foundation that appeared soon after we moved in, a brand new house at that, grrrrrr.
I think there is something to stop it but do not know what, I do miss my healthy husband who could fix anything, wish I had taken more intererest as to what he was doing somtimes straightening out things that needed fixing.
Sheila, I just loved that card, one of my daughters sent one in which said:
I love the nature of your spirit and love that are so much part of the woman and the mother you are"
Hi folks,
Had an interesting day today. Poor DH had to be at work at 4:30 AM, but ended up coming home early as he seemed to have wrenched something in his back and ribs a couple of days ago and hauling cartons around and stocking shelves just did him in. He picked up some heavy duty over-the-counter pain meds and spent most of the rest of the day lying on a heating pad.
I spent most of the earlier part of the day potting the rest of the asters I'd pulled up and trying to free my tiny newly rooted rosemary plants from whatever little bugs are feasting on them. I was afraid to use Neem, so took out the cotton swabs and the rubbing alcohol and did the best I could.
Had a nice chat with Bonnie (Defoecat) early this afternoon, then donned my plastic camping poncho and headed out into the rain to plant some dragonflowers, gladiolus bulbs and the strawberry plants that didn't fit in the strawberry pot. That reminds me --- Maria and M5, you can drill holes in the clay pots with a ceramic or masonry drill bit. DH successfully drilled more drainage holes in my strawberry pot (they only put in ONE on the side of the pot near the bottom and judging by what happened to the plants I put in there last time, that was not near enough!). It didn't crack despite the fact that the bottom of the pot was already weakened since ditzy me forgot that it was supposed to come inside for the winter.
Mary, EWWWW about the dead critter somewhere in your basement. I hope the bleach treatment does the trick. Something of the sort happened at my store a few years ago --- unfortunately inside the walls somewhere. Used up quite a few scented candles!
Hi Solitaire. Don't be a stranger.
Darius, hope you did go to your niece's graduation. After all, if you hadn't joined forces with your sister, she might never have graduated at all.
tgif, sorry about your knee, but loved the picture of your "passengers" in the golf cart. Hope things improve without your having to resort to surgery.
Maria, are you going to build a raft or shall I? Our lilac bush is drooping almost to the ground on one side and the rhododendrons are losing their flowers almost before they get a chance to open. Other than that, things don't look too bad out there, but we'd kind of like to see the sun again before we all forget what it looks like.
I01, I'd definitely give Red Lobster a big black mark in the ledger and never darken their door again! We went to an Indian restaurant a couple of times and they just never seemed able to get anything right. It wasn't hard to mark them off the list however, since there was a good Indian restaurant just across the highway. Did you end up having those grilled burgers?
Babs, nice picture of your Mum. Sure hope she gets to have that special birthday celebration with her twin. Glad that you were able to give her such a nice Mother's Day.
M5, great card! Glad that you had a good day yesterday and hope there will be no more return of the queasies.
Hi Casey, sarv, dmcd, and greta. Hope I didn't miss anyone. If I did, please forgive me. It's time to go veg out for awhile.
Sweet dreams to you all.
Hi folks,
I've marked the link for tomorrow's thread to be watched but it's not tomorrow yet; so I'll post here.
I had every intention of catching up today. Well scratch that.
Took my car in for servicing this morning. The route between home and the shop is under water main construction and the traffic was AWFUL as four lanes are reduced to two. At one point I did U-turn and took a different and much longer route. Got there about the same time because I recognized the bus that was next to me. But at least I was moving rather than sitting and stewing. I had allowed extra time and even taken a puzzle book to work on before the aquafit friends met me there. Well, they beat me and all three of us were late to Aquafit. Another Aquafit person got me home in time for a meeting with co-chair of the committee to spend the money at church. We got together before a meeting of the whole committee this evening.
Rest of the day - I left a plastic bucket at a coffee shop to collect coffee grounds for me, and managed to find some hot glue sticks so I could repair a ceramic pot with a saucer which had become detached.
The meeting tonight went well and we are nearly done. We are recommending that the money got 60% to building and communication equipment, 20% to outreach and 20% to existing programs. The church has a 20 year old sanctuary and a 45 year old Christian Education building which is badly in need of repair. It's badly insulated - costs close to $3000/month to heat in winter and it's not hard to think of close to $1,000,000 worth of things that could be done to it. The bequest is only about $300,000 but if we do it right it should kick-start a campaign to help us become more environmentally responsible in the future. The kitchen is in bad repair and will be part of the plan. This building is used virtually daily for all sorts of outreach endeavors; so the case can be made that putting it into good repair is a necessary part of the outreach. And by funnelling some of the money into some existing programs such as our parish nursing and the busing program, (which are presently covered by the dwindling remains of an amalgamation fund started when we merged with another church in 1999) people will be able to consider contributing to capital projects on the building without having to dig deeper to maintain those programs as well - at least for a few years.
Did some sewing last night on a trial version of the top of the dress I wanted to make. Decided that in spite of recent weight loss (which is beginning to show), that it didn't fit as well as I would like without a fair bit of further alterations to the pattern. I won't try to do that before Wednesday's dinner. LOL
I did also buy a few plants while I was out this afternoon, but nothing's in the garden yet except the few things I got planted last Saturday. Objective now is to clean up the porch so we can use it on the weekend when DD#2 and BF come from Vancouver.
The plants I got at the plant sale yesterday looked good, but they didn't have all that I wanted. Some were a bit small to be dug yet. Others were accidentally sold to other people in the morning. Apparently it was chaos early in the sale and they had difficulty keeping the pre-ordered things separate. I DID get three more hostas and several other plants.
Anyway, I need to sign off. I skimmed through all the messages and I'm sorry not to take the time to reply to all. Have a good night.
Ann
McCool, if that keeps up you and I will need a raft pretty soon! I thinks in soemareas they are already using one, some weather we are having usually it does not lasr that long in New England.
Hope every one has a good night, hope I get to sleep to night do not like to sleep to all hours in the motning as I did today.
Hi everyone
My goodness ... everyone sure has been busy tonight!
sarv, where *have* you been? I've waited all day. Just knew you'd come to the rescue and all the time you were at home still cleaning your house. LOL
Defoe, those strawberries sound wonderful. The only thing I've been successful at growing that we eat is the herbs I use ... but the DH says we should have some roma and sweet 100's before too much longer. :) That's really going to be neat!
Maria and McCool ... I didn't realize your weather was *that*bad until tonight. Hope you two don't have any damage due to it. We had some rain earlier this morning but it was gone before lunch.
Genni, sorry about your knee. Hope you find out something that will help on Friday when you go to the doctor. It sounds like you have a nice time planned for Saturday!
Darius, hope things went well with the graduation.
Molly, sounds like you had a great time at the plant swap. :)
Well, we did have those burgers tonight. They were very good, and he didn't even reck the kitchen like he does sometimes. LOL
Well, think I'm going to check my forums and go to bed. Am waving at everyone I've missed.
~~~Elaine
Back again for the last check in for the night. I had a busy day, but looking around the house, you can't tell it. Had a good conversation with McCool, and finally caught up with Kelly later in the afternoon. She says to say Hi, and that she has been busy with a hosta coop and work and garden, but promises to check in soon.
Molly, great about the plants. Post those pics, so we can see this haul. I know that you enjoyed the day, any time you can get together with another DG'er it's a good day.
101, those strawberries are the sweetest things. I would recommend you getting a strawberry jar, and planting a few. That way, you could at least have some homemade strawberry shortcake, and you could grow it on the patio. Pretty soon, there will be no place on that patio for people, just plants. Grilled burgers are my favorite. DH likes them on the gas grill, but I like them on the charcoal grill, so I just alternate, whenever I cook them.
tgif, I truly expected to see dogs on that golf cart. My cat wouldn't last 2 feet on anything that was moving, and Mr. B, the jack russell, loves "his rides". I take him to see DM at least once a day. All I have to say is, "Let's go to grandmother's" and he is standing at the door. He goes in, gives her a big smooch, and then is ready to come home. Gets real grouchy if I have to stay any length of time.
Sarv, I am really impressed with your cleaning. Doesn't it feel great to have it all clean at the same time. No matter, that it will get dirty again at the same time.
Maria, I am closely watching the news, and you north east folks are really getting pounded. Sure hope you won't need the ark, but if you do, hollar, and I will come help pound some nails. What does Samson think of all the wet? Hope to be able to talk to you soon.
Carat, that was thoughtful of DD, but tell her more thoughtfullness would be not leaving the clothes in that shape.
McCool, enjoyed our talk today. Glad that even with the rain you were able to get out and get some things done. I still have annuals sitting, waiting for the ground to dry before they are planted out. They are predicting some rain each day for the rest of the week. May have to scoop mud, and worry about the concrete soil later.
Darius, did you go to graduation? I don't usually enjoy those ceremonies, but they are dear to those who receive the diplomas. Only do that once in a lifetime. So when will you have any news on the financing of the new digs? Gosh, I am on pins and needles waiting to hear, so your anxiety must be much more.
DH just returned from the hospital where he has been since about 2:00. They are doing the prep for the colonoscopy tomorrow, and his day wasn't pretty. All his sisters had something else to do today, so he said he didn't want his mother to be alone. That regimine is hard on a well person, much less one who is not feeling well. I do think that both our mothers are heading in the same direction, and seem to be on the fast track. Have not calmed down enough to call DS (older one) and ask what the heck was up with yesterday's supposed talk about things to come with DM. DB did call tonight and say that he would come over tomorrow. BIG DEAL! I do this every day, and he volunteers for 1 day!!
Well, off to bed, I have check all forums that I normally follow, so I hope everyone has a good restful night.
See you tomorrow.
