Coffee and....Monday, May 15

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Good Morning all,

Time for coffee and a danish maybe? Let's sit for a bit and chat.

we were here yesterday: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/601840/#new

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh I was so hoping that 101 would have posted about her day. Anyway, sounds like everybody had a good day. Sarv, I agree, sitting in a restaurant and visiting for awhile is not like sitting at the table, after lunch and playing some games. We plan Shanghai Rummy, and a game lasts a long time. I didn't win again, but was 2nd. That's a nice way to say I lost!!.

Good night to everybody. Hope all has a good night.

Molly, hope your trip tomorrow is a good one.

Whew ... finally made it! We've been on the run all day today, but all in all ... it's been a good one. :)

First we went to church this morning and then came home, changed clothes and went to Red Lobster for lunch to use the gift certificate they gave us last month when we had such horrid service. When they came out after 50 minutes and told us they were sorry we still didn't have our food but the kitchen was running behind I made up my mind then I wouldn't go back. The food was okay but just not worth that kind of wait. :-( Okay, didn't mean to restaurant bash!! LOL Anyway, when we *finally* got out of there we ran back to the house (we have to go right past our turn off) and we dropped off Kota and headed for my MIL's. They have a dog, so we usually leave mine home unless we'll be there all day. We visited her for a couple of hours and then came back to feed my girl. Ran over to see the DH's great uncle who lives in a retirement home and finally made it back around 8. I had a couple of plant trades to get ready for the mail, and now here I am!!!

If y'all will forgive me I'll just say I'm so glad everyone had a nice Mother's Day! Will try and reply tomorrow. Love and a good night to all!
~Elaine~

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Whew, that made me tired just reading about your day. Tomorrow is okay by me.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Just wanted to pop in and say HI before I passed out for the evening.

Have I told you all how important you all are to me. If I have a question, a complaint or a special event to share you all are on the top of the list to share with. Thanks to you all for being here.......

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Time to get up everyone - need to work off all that Mother's day feast!!

It"s not raining here< but weathergal said it would in a bit>this nasty weather can leave any time. I'm royally sick of it. Get out your umbrella Maria - it's all coming your way and will hang around for you too!!

Yesterday as I was coming in from my garden walk, I noticed a big blob on my shoulder - ended up being bird doo - at least it didn't end up on my head LOL

This morning I noticed the cat jumping at the slider, put on my glasses only to see the biggest slug crawling up the window- sliced it in half- yuck. Then it was time for breakfast LOL

Molly, have fun meeting DG friends today. I'm off to the huff/puff and then who knows....

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Wow sarv, the slug story will save me a few calories, don't tell me you really ate after that???LOL We had the biggest slugs in San Fracisco -all I can say is, at least it's easy to run away from them!! That and the birdyou know what - yuck.

defoecat-I've never had a Tenn Walker, but I've heard that lots of aging baby boomers are choosing them because they don't jar the old bones!! Around hereQH are most popular. I have a QH/Arab cross, and she's in a training barn where she's ridden 4 days a week all year round. The trick is to find a horse like my Stbs, that can stand all winter in the backyard, and when you get on to ride, they just go - no antics. The Quarab, and all QHs I've known, and all Arabs i've known, need plenty of groundwork before you dare get on after they haven't worked a bit. At our age, unless you have a willing kid or trainer, it's too much.

Stopped raining for a bit - wish I could mow the jungle but it's really wet and will start again soon.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Casey, I'm like you... finding a friend here anytime...
ps, my mother (who was a dressmaker) collected thimbles. She had a solid gold one she wore on a chain around her neck. I took it from her several months before she died, fearing it would disappear in the nursing home.

Sarv, you could have saved that slug story for later in the day, LOL.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

DH got out his new John Deere and cut our soggy lawn yesterday, must have drained well because he didn't leave any tire ruts. Said it's supposed to rain all week and it was already too long. He was a real helping hand yesterday, extra chairs up out of the basement,loaded the dishwasher etc.

Hope all our good advice got Sarv's PI under control. And, yes, you can get it from the smoke if it's being burned, the oil vaporizes and it can be worse than skin contact for people who are super allergic. Now stop talking about it, I'm starting to itch!! I only got bird dookie bombed once, and of course it was on my way to work...back in the day when you had your hair done, and it was back combed and done to last a day or more. Ewwww yuck....one of my DDs got bombed at the zoo one time, and it was a big bird. She was in hysterics, crying and making a huge fuss. Did I mention it was my youngest, the drama queen? Nothing has changed. Didn't hear from her yesterday

Bonnie, nobody seems to want to tak about a parent needing full time care . Maybe it's too pointed a reminder of their future? Shame on them. My DGS, shortly before they were leaving last night, came to me while I was packing up some take homes and said he wanted us to know that when we got old (like I'm not already there!) he expected us to come and live with him so he could take care of us. Bless his heart. He is truly my golden child, I just don't know how he survived his mother and father and became the person he is.

Jade is a beauttiful horse! Is that called a dappled gray? I'll bet your DGD is just thrilled, and madly in love with him already. I have a sneaking suspicion that you like him in spite of his price tag!

Molly, I love the river picture. It looks so lush and peaceful. What a nice day you had, getting all those pond plants, and cruising in the canoe.

Elaine, I suspect that Red Lobster will not ever see you and your DH again. Sounds like spectacularly bad management if they haven't solved their problems by now. Too bad to spoil a good meal with that kind of service. Soon, it won't be a problem as their clientele diminishes.....and the parking lot is empty. Unless there are a lot of people with infinite patience down there, this will come back to bite them. You had a full day, nonetheless, and deserve to rest today.

Yesterday was splendid! DIL brought two big foil packages of veggies to grill, one with potatoes, green beans, assorted peppers, zuccini, mushrooms and carrots, the other with fresh asparagus. It stopped raining all afternoon, so we grilled them on the Weber. DD brought potato salad, and DGS and his wife brought a whole Suzy's cheesecake, and she made a dessert her mother makes called Pear Pie, which is layered with pears and whipped cream and nuts and a bottom crunchy crust, Heated up the ribs, which were literally falling apart and we ate our way to the end. Completely forgot about the cake!! So, they had to take some home with them or we'd have to polish it off ourselves. DD brought me a gift card from the garden shop (I have two now for that one, and one for $35 from Home Depot, going shopping soon....). DS and DIL got me a hanging planter with five little pots for planting from Crate and Barrel (weren't we just talking about it?) and a little pillow embroidered with "If you won't talk to your cats about catnip, who will?". The pots in the planter have no drainage holes....and I'm afraid that if we try to drill holes we'll crack the pots! They seem an odd size too so I'll have to see if a different pot will fit in the bracket... There is a gift receipt in the box, so I might have to do an exchange.

We played Rock and Roll Trivial Pursuit and I am amazed at the inability of my mind to dredge up names. It's like I say, once you hit 60, everytime you get new information, some of the old stuff gets crowded out 'cuz there's only so much space. DS won, of course, as always but we laughed and teased each other throughout and had a great time. It was supposed to cover from the 50s through the 90's but there wasn't one question that went back to the fifties. So I was useless. DS said he won because when you have a shallow mind, all the information is right there on the surface for retrieval. LOL I told him that apparently dropping him on his head as an infant didn't do any permanent damage.

All in all it was a fun day, and I had my first real meal in two weeks without any ill effects! We didn't get to bed until midnight, but woke up at six anyway.

Who asked about the flowers? DH brought the mums home Thursday night, and I added the tulips and bleeding hearts to fill out the vase. Tulips are almost done, so I raided the remaining good ones.

For all it's gloppy appearance, the cake was good, and we managed to choke down a piece before bedtime...and there's still some left. And the dishes are all done, so there's no clean up waiting for me this morning. A very nice Mother's Day, Birthdays, and Anniversary (DD's 30th) celebration.

To everyone else, glad you had a lovely day, and hope if you're under this rain pattern, it ends soon, and if you're dry, it moves into your neighborhood long enough to make you happy.

Off to stick my nose in a book, and do nothing much else today! Have some cake before I have to eat it all for breakfast. Sarv? It's chocolate.....(and ditto on the slug story YUCK!)

Sheila

I just had a big wedge of angel food cake, but I'll have a piece of yours M5 - just to be polite ya know...

Cat is driving me crazy. Comes to the slider and begs to come in. I get my hinny out of the chair and she runs away laughing. It has happened three times - she's gonna stay out all morning now... That will fix her.

Just did my garden walk - things look mighty sad....greenhouse has aphids again....whaaaaa

Lookie here! Can you believe it's me this early?

sarv, are you responsible for sending all this rain or is it Maria? Anyway, I do believe we'll be getting more. I woke up to rumbles, and it had rained early this morning or during the night. I've got a bit of rain in my buckets again. :)

I agree with y'all. I don't know what I did before I found DG. I know that I can come here and fus or complain. Y'all let me vent, and you share my gardening triumps with me ... no matter how small they are. :) Thanks to each of you!

Defoe, that horse sounds magnificent. I *know* your DGD is so very proud of her. I love her name. It sounds very regal. I'm so glad you were able to have a nice M day even with all the sickness around you. Keep us posted about your MIL, okay?

Darius, I'm still following your thread and am so very excited for you. Can't wait to hear that the property is *yours* for sure!

Molly, how fun. Would love to meet a bunch of DG'ers ... especially *this* bunch!! Now wouldn't that be something?

sarv, sounds like you had a nice M day also what with such nice gifts. And even if visiting isn't the same when going out ... at least you didn't have to fix, right? LOL

Ann, you sure sounded busy to me! LOL Hope you got everything accomplished!

Woodspirit~ congrats! Sending up *big* prayers that the funding stays in place for you.

Lauri~ LOL at the dog! Poor lizard, though!

Maria and Samson~ am waving. Sounds like you had a very nice M day.

dmc, your DH deserves a metal! LOL Sounds like you have him trained well. what did he fix?

Hi McCool~. So, you were with the whole family? Glad you had such a nice M day, too.

Karot, that picnic sounded wonderful. What a wonderful surprise! don't you just love it when they surprise you like that?

Meezers~ I do hope there's some of that cake left for breakfast this morning. Coconut is one of my favorites! Besides I don't care what it looks like!LOL

Well, today is *Monday* so you know what that means. Need to get up from here and start the mad routine over. I'll be checking in from time to time and try to do better about staying caught up. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
~~~ to all I might have missed.
... Elaine
Well, I just previewed before I posted for a change and must say ... M5 sounds like you had a *perfectly* wonderful day!! That menu sounds to die for. Thanks for the cake.
The weather is turning *bad*. Must power down until I know what's up.
Love y'all!
Good morning. This is just a quick check in to let everyone know I survived another endurance ride. I have lots of catching up to do but will be back later. ~~~ to all of you for now.
Mary, we were hoping for good weather for you. ~~ to Amanda Panda.
Had a wonderful Mothers Day. Heard from all 5 of my DDs. Sat. around 8 am DD#4 came over & said OKay Mom you have me for the day, lets get started on planting. When we had the lawn redone last summer it enlarged my front bed by more than double. Had already purchased plants, so she moved a lot and planted all there were room for then filled in with annuals. Looking good & all are already perked up except for the Shasta daisies that were moved towards the front. As my neighbor said they will be raising their hands & saying 'Hallelujah'. As we are dry again here have pots out back that need water B4 I head to work. ~~~~~~~
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
Morning all, got up very late 9;15 as a matter of fact, probably was I could not get to sleep till 2 am.
First thing after giveing Samson his breakfast I had to check the garden, what a sad mess from the monsoon, actually it is still drizzly, I am afraid the Dahlias will drown though 5 of 16 are showing about an inch or so. The lilac, that was so full and beutiful looks like they are ready to go to their funeral, so sad, and the korean viburnan with its heavenly scented blossoms, not lasting very long as it is, match the drooping of the lilac and to beat all that it is going to be like that, weatherwise, till Sunday, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, will still need that umbrella ,Sarv!
You do need the rain, Elaine, yes? I know I did not send it, it is still here, lol Never been to 'Red Lobster though there are around here. friends have told me they do not like it there, it seems like they are just grinding out food and one is surrounded with so many stuffing themselves and all ones hears is a lot of loud people noises '
Meezer, I received the same plant holder from Crate and Barreelwith 5 4" pots, the little 4" plastic ones fit in there, only the rim shows a bit. I am not planning to hang it but will use it as center piece on the porch'es table.
Don't know anything about Horses except my husband always had them . I saw the Lippizaners performing quite often in Vienna and one time inBoston, We also visited the farm in Austria where they were bred, it was a great experience to see these stately animals. I think I have some pictures of them, see if I can find them for you to look at.
Glad all of you had a great MD yesterday.
Here is one!
I'm, here, read all, need to make a few calls and will be back.
The best laid plans.......gone awry...
My workout buddy called and said she just couldn't face a workout today. Her mom is in the hospital, completely out of it, and my friend is beside herself. She also has her son getting married 11 hrs from here in two weeks. She is maxed out emotionally. So here I sit with my workout clothes on cruising DG.
I'm fighting with a sinus something - probably weather related. I am sure sun would be the cure, but alas, we have another week of this dreary stuff. I've noticed that the greenhouses are. still full of plants - they are either past their prime or little stinkers - not growing a bit.
Maria - my lilacs look pitiful too - and they were so gorgeous. I never did get a bouquet to to put in the house. The peonies are ready to pop here - usually we get a drenching and they collapse too!
Gret- how nice having your daughter at your beck and call for a whole day!! Sounds like you got a lot done.
Well, I'm off to try and clean some sterling silver jewelry that has turned yellow- how does this happen!!
Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)
GM everyone! Happy Post Mum's Day. I'm off soon to a rendesvouz with the dealership for a little warranty work. I trust everyone had a wonderful Mum's Day and are in the recuperative mode.
We took Mum out for brunch with the family. DH made a reservation at the CPO Club and they set up a table for us in front of the picture window where Mum could look out on the wonderful vista. It was a BEAUTIFUL view, clear, we could see the entire base, Mt. Baker in the back ground and the Puget Sound off to the side. It was such a clear day we could see the San Juan Islands off in the distance. Mum got all flowers in some fashion. I talked everyone into giving her planters and things she could fuss with on her deck. So, for once, everyone listened. They all got her raised planters with wonderful flowers that she can get her walker up next to while she's on her deck. She always did love her flowers and now in her later years has missed being able to putz around, so this way, she can either sit and fuss with the flowers or even stand next to the planters with
her walker as they are all waist level. DH and I put them all on her front deck after we got home and arranged them in a semi-circle so she could move about without any troubles. First thing when we got her home, she went out on the deck, sat on her favourite chair and just enjoyed the view. We took Mum for a nice drive after brunch and she just ohhh'ed and ahhhhh'ed everywhere we went because the day was so beautiful and there were so many flowers and trees in bloom for her to see. She tuckered out after an hour, so we brought her back home and set her up with her plants.
I worked Mum's Day on the evening shift, but I was very grateful to get the morning with Mum and my siblings and their children and grand children.
Well, I"ve got to get a move on. I have a 0900 appointment with the dealership. I'm posting a photo of Mum actually taken on Easter Sunday at my DS's home, but thought you all might enjoy seeing the old gal. She will be 96 if she makes it to July 7. Keep your fingers crossed, I'm trying to get her twin brother out here so they can celebrate together this year. The twins are the last of their family to survive. They were the middle children, the two older and two younger sibs are gone. As you'll see, Mum is very tiny. She's only 4' 8" and even in the recliner chair that's a smaller than normal chair, it's too big for her and we had to prop pillows behind her back so she could "fit" in the chair. Mum gets cold easily these days, so we keep afghans around everywhere to keep her warm. She also has CHF (congestive heart failure) so must keep her legs elevated.
Grumblings are gone ... rain's here for the day, but I'm lurking again. :)
Hi Maria, so sorry to hear about your poor garden. Wish I had some of those plants to share with you. I have plenty of different seeds if it's not too late for you to start them, though. I don't know if I have anything you'd be interested in but would love to send you something.
Defoe, gretagibbs and Meezers... am waving and saying hi and good morning! ~~~
So so glad to have you back with us Mary!!
Lunch break here in Michigan - raspberry yogurt is on the menu!!
I went upstairs to a bedroom where I kept my brugs all winter - what a mess! Decided that I would tackle it today. Took down all the curtains in three bedrooms and washed them -even had to do a prewash as I hadn't done them in 2 yrs!! LOL Outta sight, outta mind!! Then I decided to take the windows apart (thank goodness the bedroom I am working on only has one!) It is sparkling. THEN I decided to wash the mini blinds that are in that room - oh glory - what a job... My goal is to empty off the bed that is a 'catcher' and get things organized. I emptied out one dresser drawer that had tons of socks from DS's. Now why do I save those??? Must have about 20 pr. Out they are going!! Also have a load of Halloween costumes that I have worn in the past. Can't quite throw those out yet... LOL
Well, I'm back to work.....I'll feel better tonight when it is all done (headache is all gone- that is a plus!)
Darius - hmmm having the 'kid' and BF living with you....sounds like you are going to have to lay down the law... I'm sure you'll have tales to tell!!
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)
Me again, have tea, will sit. AmandaPanda is outside enjoying the sun, bugs birdies, company of the other cats, and places to play hide and sneak. She was glad to see me after the weekend babysitting my hubby. He came down with some upper respitory bug that hit him like a sledge hammer so was only semi functional all weekend. Of course when I said it might be a good idea to see his doctor he quickly rejected that and went to work as usual, but maybe he will feel so lousy by mid day that he will go anyhow. By then it will not be my idea anymore. He has had pneumonia several times and so we (I) don't like to see him wait too long before getting some help to clear the gunk out of his lungs.
When I went into the basement this morning it was evident that something (probably a mouse) has expired a few days ago under a pallet with things stacked on top of it, or behind the freezer. Since there is just a cement floor I think I will mix up some clorox water and douse the area as well as possible and see if that will keep me from gagging while I do the laundry. Ok, now between that and Sarv's slug on the glass before breakfast, you should all be set up for a day when it will be easy to stick to the diet. Reread when necessary, no charge for this wonderful service!
Elaine, it does sound like you had quite a day yesterday! My guess is that 2 strikes and Red Lobster is OUT!
Babs, that's a delighful picture of your Mum. She looks sweet and full of mischief at the same time. You can tell her that my AmandaPanda kitty must be Scottish, she says prrrrrrrrt, rolling her r's like a good Scottish lass.
So far I have just skimmed through today's posts and see that I need to go back and read the weekend to catch up with all of you. However, it might be a while because there is just so much to do.
I did see the thread that Darius might have found the perfect place. Wow, that is my kind of place! I've got to pull out my map and see what part of Virginia. I hope the financing works out ok. Will the bus/aka moving van fit under the covered bridge roof without letting the air out of the tires?
My trip and ride went very well, my team earned some points, Breezy looks great after a not too easy 50 mile ride on a hot day, and we were both glad to get back home. At this point he only needs 125 more miles to pass the 6000 mile mark. Yep, I know it sounds funny, but endurance horses have mileage records. Riders too.
Well now there is laundry to do, trailer to clean, weeds to pull........ you get the picture. Have a great day, see ya.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, it has been a busy hectic morning. I have already been to DM's 3 times this morning to get her up and dressed, fix breakfast, give her meds, and get her situated. Older DS, is definately getting a call from me, and we will set a time to do that family talk. DMIL is not doing well either, they are giving her the "stuff" to prep for colonoscopy and upper gi tomorrow. She is sick to her stomach, and just miserable. DH plans to go this afternoon to relieve the SIL that is there this morning.
Not gonna try to comment right now, as I need to get to the post office and bank, and pick up some milk. So I will comment later. ~~~ to everybody.
Okay, today's the big day! The kid graduates at 7 pm tonight. Surprised us by passing all of her final exams! The graduation gowns are red, yuck. But at least the carrot of the boyfriend coming inspired her to finish! Actually he's a very nice yoiung man, looks very American Indian although his last name is Lopez.
I'm not going to graduation... no appropriate clothing as it's all in boxes in NC. Do have a bottle of champagne chilling, and presents waiting!
Denver, CO
I usually just lurk here, but had to comment. Darius, my Dad had a job he couldn't get out of on my graduation day. He wouldn't have time to get home, and clean up. He offered me the money from it as compensation, and I told him all I wanted was him there. He came, straight out of the oilfields, covered in grease and muck. I had to buy the graduation gown, cause we had to wear white, but I got my hug from him. It didn't matter to me what he was wearing, it mattered that he was there to share the accomplishment with me.
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Cleaning is done for today. It makes me feel better to have it written down, so here goes. Did curtains for three bedrooms, washed windows in two bedrooms, washed mini blinds in two bedrooms (won't do it again!!) Tomorrow I'm gonna tackle the family room -windows, curtains and 4 sets of mini blinds. I'm soooo proud of myself. Oh, I am a compulsive clothes buyer amongst other things. In cleaning I found a bag that had 9 summer tops in it (all new) LOL - I'm all set for warm (dry) weather - it can come anytime!!
Weather girl said 70 by next Monday (just in time for our camping trip!)
Time to drag DH to office max to return computer cushion - no sales receipt, so it may be a trip for naught.
Darius - she'll love the chmpagne and gifts!! I'm so happy she got herself together to graduate. Without a diploma you can't do much now a days.
DG mug arrived in tip top shape!
Oh sarv please please come down here. I'm running around in circles! The vacuum is in the middle of the room, wash is in the machine and I have *no* idea where my day has gone. Clock just chimed 3, though. Wonder if I can get by with planning burgers on the grill? That way DH can cook. :) Hmmm, by the time I clean up is it *really* worth it?
Just in case y'all think I'm totally insane ... while I was cleaning the weather moved outta here. Went out side and there was the sun! :-)
Solitare, hmmm, maybe I will re-consider attending, Thanks. Of course, that was your dad, not an aunt.
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Have you seen what people wear to special events these days? Shorts in church, jeans at symphonies, worse at fairs and other gatherings, what the heck, you'll never see those people again so what do you care? That was my guiding principle when I took a cruise in the early 80s, right after I dumped my ex-, and bought a brand new bikini!! Come to think of it, I never did see any of them again, except my gal pal who went with me. I wouldn't do that now. The shock waves would cause the ship to sink and NONE of us would ever be seen again.
Wish it would decide if it's raining or sunny, keeps going back and forth . Stopped at the plant place, bought a dozen herbs, several shasta Daisies, and found no pots to fit the planter. Have some clay colored plastic ones from last year's purchases and they are a fit, so will let DH try drilling holes in the clay ones that came with it and if they shatter...so be it. Why would anyone sell clay pots with no drainage holes?
Okay, I'm re-considering!
Only problem now is that I'll have to go early with them for graduation practice, OR take my truck which unfortunately now has expired tags!
Starkville, MS
go early and enjoy being a family (beats getting a ticket!)
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)
Darius, I agree with those above, go to a 2nd hand store right quick and get yourself some duds if there is time, and sit there smiling like you've always been proud of her, and at least for this one accomplishment, all of you should be. She really turned the situation around in a hurry, even if it did take a carrot on a stick (the boyfriend) to get the job done.
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
LOL, I guess it does!
Turns out I have been driving for a year on expired tags. Howe can anyone be so dumb?
Starkville, MS
Darius - I looked all through the DG gardening manuals, forums and threads and there isn't so much as *one* comment about checking car tags anywhere in there! It isn't your fault! Go to the graduation and be happy!
I'm busy getting things together for a small round up this Saturday. I had lots of things I wanted to do for this gathering, but being on crutches for a week has put a crimp in those plans. But, we are going to have a *great* time! My first round up! WOW!
Now, if the dear Doctor will just wave a magic wand over my knee all will be good! If he doesn't have said wand I may be facing some sort of surgery, but I will cross that bridge when it appears in the road.
Denver, CO
Go, Darius. As I recall from earlier threads, you helped her earn that diploma, so I would have to agree, AUNTS count. And the bigger the cheering section, the prouder they feel of the accomplishment. Who cares what you look like. And I'll bet any cop would understand about the tags.
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
drat typed a message and hit send and I lost it!!!
Darius, pack up a book and GO!!! LOL about the tags. You've been driving on borrowed time!! Lucky you weren't caught...must be your good, clean living! LOL
Talking about clothes.....I was nagging DH to dress up for the restaurant for MD. He wore kahkis and a plaid shirt (he has a zillion) I wanted him to wear his dress shirt. When we got there most everyone was in very casual clothes- a lot of jeans!! I actually felt over dressed!! DH got a chuckle out of that one - he won!
M5 - a bikini?? Man, I haven't had one of those on in 4 decades. I have a black one piece that I wear with a silky pair of black short things. But someone took a pic of my last summer and i've decided that I will only go skinny dipping in my own pool. That suit is now history...I looked awful....
I would like to continue cleaning, but DH is making dinner and I need to at least appear pleasant and eat with him. Hopefully my workout partner will want to skip tomorrow and I can get back on the cleaning wagon. I'm on a mission.....
Had to share the Mother's Day card my DD made for me....it was her first taste of chocolate pudding and she insisted on feeding herself. She was about 18 months ...there was more on her than in her. Wasn't she precious? She still is....
What a great card!!
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, it has been a whirlwind today, just stopped long enough to gulp a sandwich, and need to go out again and do some things.
Carat, I agree, this is indeed a special place, and all who drop in, have a special place in my life. You are special to us too!
Sarv, EEEW, bird doo and a slug all in one day!. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Well, it seems that to have started off with a teasing cat, and the aforementioned, you seem to have gotten tons of stuff done. I get like that cleaning, getting something accomplished, just makes me want to move on to other rooms and clean there too.
dmc, since Tennessee Walkers seem to be very calm and stable, we are hoping with some regular riding, she will be able to be managed by DGD. BTW, GDG, just loves her.
Darius, I have a neighbor who collects thimbles, has them in a neat little case, so pretty. So did you relent and go to graduation? Sometimes they are a pain, but I go for special people.
M5, awhile ago DGD told us that when we get old, she and her boy friend will move in and take care of us. Well, I told her that is great, but it better be a husband instead of a boy friend!!. Sounds like you had a good day yesterday, and the meal sounded so good. Too bad that you had to "choke" down that cake before bed last night. That card is just so precious. I would have it framed, and display it proudly.
101, well you got some rain. Did you have any bad storms? The important thing is the rain, the plants just love it. Have you quit spinning around, and gotten it together? I think burgers on the grill sounds really good.
grettagibbs, that was a very nice mother's day present you got. I sure would love to have a full day of help, that would be a neat gift to receive. Stop in more often.
Solitare~~~
Maria, so is it still raining? I just saw on the news the flooding that is going on in your area. Hope that it stops and your plants survive. Several years ago, we were fortunate enough to see the Lippizaners. They are so regal. Just loved the show.
Babs, It was nice you got to spend part of the day with mum. Give her a hug from us!!
Mary, have you scolded Amanda Panda for not taking better care of the DH? Hope he gets to feeling better.
Glad that you had a good ride, and earned points.
tgif, what's up with you on crutches?
Well, it has rained on and off all day. I dash out and do a thing or two, then it starts to rain. I just came in from picking 2 1/2 gallons of strawberries, so that is what I am heading off to do now. Get them prepared for the freezer.
I'll be back later, and check to see what has gone on in my absence.
Starkville, MS
defoe - I ripped the knee up several years ago and ever since have had problems. This past Tues. I really tore it up good. I have an appointment Fri to see what can/can't be done to make life a little more stable.
I headed out to get the golf cart for a drive around the butterfly garden - guess who wanted to go with me. These two never miss a chance to ride with me! That's Legree on the seat and Bandersnatch in the basket behind the seat. We ended up going down to the lake as well with both dogs along for the fun of it!
I hope all of you have a peaceful evening and a good night's sleep.
