Is this a dumb question? What does the view column mean, and what is the significance of the numbers?

it's how many times the thread has been looked at, by one person or many. Like I looked twice, and will look again when there's another post on it:)

The View Column numbers is the number of people who have looked at the posts.

And the technical explanation: Each time that thread is loaded in somebody's browser, the number is incremented by one.
