PlantFiles detailed search results

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I use Firefox and have even set my font smaller to try and see more of the screen, but this is what I see when I do searches. Does anyone see search results on the first page, or does everyone have to scroll down? To someone who is new to Plantfiles, it might not be obvious that the results are down below the search criteria boxes. Because the search criteria remain in the boxes after search results are given, it just appears that the page has refreshed or that nothing's happened at all.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Here's an example from today. Went to http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?Search=Click+here+to+search+for+plants and searched for the genus artemisia. Here's my search criteria. I just hit enter after typing artemisia.

After I hit enter, this is what I saw when the results page came up. If you didn't notice the scrollbar indicating there is quite a bit of page left, you'd think the page had not changed. See what I mean?

It wasn't until I scrolled down a page's worth that the results showed:

I was also tricked by this. I thought for the longest time that there must not be anything in the plant files! It wasn't until I noticed the scroll bar that I was actually able to use the information.

Whew, I'm not the only one! :D What would be great is if just abbreviated search terms could show on the top of the search results page, maybe just the search terms filled in. In my case, something like this:

That looks good. I'd maybe add a quick link back to the main search page though.

Back to the original search terms entered, you mean? Otherwise, the green Search Plants button would take the person back to a fresh search page.

This is a good idea - I'll add it to Ye Olde TODO(r)

Man, you know you've hit the big time if your TODO is trademarked!

Oh Yup! I missed the little green button. 8-)

Great idea! I, too, have been fooled by this.
