Book Exchange forum

Englishtown, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hi,
I looked over all of the forum listings and was wondering if anyone has ever requested a book exchange forum. I saw the Bookworm tab, but didn't see anything related to an exchange. The idea I have in mind is I'd like to be able to share and exchange religious and spiritual books with the Dave's Garden Community. I think it could work similar to a Round Robin type of forum.

Would appreciate any feedback from the group.
Thanks,
Mina

I think a book exchange is a great idea. I know some of us do gardening magazine swaps. You can send a dozen in a flat rate box, you just have to find someone who has different subscriptions than you.

I am not sure how many takers you would get on a book exchange solely for religious and spiritual books and i think a forum just for that might be a lonely place, but i could certainly be wrong! I would also tread lightly on religious subjects, it has caused many a tiff (and downright fray) here.

I would feel around for interest in a forum for exchanging books and magazines of all types, especially gardening since that is the primary reason we are all here. I for one would participate.

OH MY!!

I would absolutely love a book exchange forum...i have lots of books, but wont go out and buy new ones cause i just read them once and hate to waste all the money...and out library is very small and does not carry alot of the new stuff.

Thanks for the comments! I hope I wasn't unclear about it being just for religious books, I was just thinking I, personally, would mainly use the for those types of exchanges. Wouldn't want to cause a fray :o) Come to think of it, I do have alot of other novels that just sit on my shelf because I read it once and would love to exchange them for other good novels. I hate to waste money on new books too, since I read them once and never have time to go to the library to search out reading material.

I too would love a book swap!!
I believe there have been book swap threads here before on the books, movies and TV forum.

Interesting idea - and with ten books in a flat rate box, takes them down to about 80 cents apiece, plus getting recommended books and hints.

I like!

Have you tried www.paperbackswap.com?

I've been using paperbackswap.com for a while now and it's great. However, a word of warning - the books I send are always in much better shape than the books I receive. I think many people pick up old books at garage sales and the like and then use them on that forum. I've received two books that were in great shape, a couple that were so-so, and then a few that were not books I'd want to keep or even really read. Two were just really bad. People aren't supposed to send out books like that, but they do anyway.

But it's a great way to get rid of books you don't want to keep and the two books I got that were in great shape were big books - one a cookbook and the other a nice gardening book. They deal in hardbacks as well as paperbacks.

Even with the bad books I've received, I still think it's a great way to trade books and the site makes every so easy. I always use their printable book wrappers.

Really? I haven't received any yet, I've sent a couple out, and ordered one to go to my round robin partner, but don't know if she has it yet.

We have a book swap on DG already (but don't have many participants), which is here, by the way:

I keep my list updated and I have pictures of the books I've listed so you can see the condition they're in if you click on my trading link, if anyone's interested.

Or someone could post a new thread if they don't like what's on there already. But as I said earlier, not too many people have been participating.

Cheryl
