That banana bread sounded so good I cleaned all the old black bananas out of the freezer and made a couple loaves in my new stove. One whole wheat on regular bake and one white flour on convection bake. Sure is going to take some getting used to. Please help yourself, there's plenty.
Spent most of the day with a sledge and chisel bashing out a rock wall. Still don't know what to do with the huge pile of rock thats growing. Move them out by the front in a wheelbarrow 4 or 5 rocks at a time. That's good for a couple dozen trips. Probably should have left it alone but I've been looking at it for 30 years and never was happy with it.
Best wishes to all for a swell day, I'm off to a well earned nap.
Coffee and......May 9, Tuesday
Just saw on the news lot of fires in Florida, are you guys OK down there?
Maria,
No fires here right now, but I think I heard there were some further south, by maybe an hour or so.
Molly
thought of you Molly and I think of other too, it just that I don't know where every one lives, glad it is not near you in any case and you did say you had some rain which is good
I'm in my jammies and not lifting a finger to do one more thing today. DH and I got the remaining brugs in the ground - one forecast said 16 days of rain - send the ark!! plus cold - how miserable... I dug weeds sout of the clay patch - I swear I needed a sludge hammer to get them out, but it sure does look better. I need about 4 more daylilies to add to the patch - good reason to go shopping!!
DM brought out burritos - good meal and we have leftovers! Beat her a good one in scrabble too!
defoe you need the 2x4 - a new horse!!! You get to spend the equal amount on something YOU want!! (you have my permission)
Molly, I use the cheapest brand I can find, rip off the outter plastic stuff, throw the insides in the hole - I used it right in the garden...works great!
Well American Idol is on and I never miss it!
Hi Everyone,
I peeked in a bit earlier, but never got round to writing anything. And I won't try to address everyone at this time this evening. But WELCOME to the two who have emerged from lurking. I hope we hear from you often. And Carol, I sure hope you are successful in salvaging your plants.
Double congrats to Elaine's niece.
Diapers in hanging baskets work great. Even better if you use some of the water retention crystals. Lee Valley tools sells them as I'm sure many other places do too. I have window boxes on my screened porch which leak like a seive. It's been a challenge every year to get the soil to hold some water - most of it would pour right through. This year I started with new soil. I had left over pull-ups from the grand-twins but decided they were too expensive; so I took them into the Food Cupboard and swapped them for el cheapo disposeables. I cut off the elastice around the legs and put them on the bottom of the box. worked some crystals into the soil mix and for the first time ever, the water didn't all pour right through the box.
I should have gotten out into the garden today. Instead, I spent most of the day on the computer working on the hosta listings of a Canadian nursery I was not previously familiar with. They have over 700 listings including a couple that I've had difficulty finding. Sandy (Sanannie) has ordered successfully from them according to the Watchdog. (Kelly, they also ship to the US). I've copied the info from their web site and organized it according to size in Quattro Pro (like Excel for you Microshaft people). Also noted in color which of their listings are already on my wish list and which I have already. Will put together an order soon.
I heard today that the place from which I've ordered the most Hostas just shipped them. And the other place from which I ordered will bring the plants in to a special plant sale in Ottawa on Sunday. So with any luck, I'll have the plants I ordered by the end of the week. ;-)
My hostas are getting bigger by the day. I took some pics, but haven't yet downloaded them. Will post on the Hosta Forum when I do.
Well, I've gone on long enough. Have a good night everyone.
Ann
It's that time again. My day was pretty uneventful and yet I am still tired.
