Good Morning All,
It's the start of a fresh new week. Have a cup, share some snacks and good conversation.
We came from over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/599087/
Coffee and........Sunday May 7
I'm it!!
Good morning, Sheila and every one that follows
I have to say this just made the rest of my day, quoted from m5 regarding the DH:
I just smile and nod and forget what ever time he said because it never happens.
It's funny to see how typical behaviours are across the country!!
however we got a lot done yesterday DH started the lawnmower and chainsaw (I have a hard time when they haven't been used in awhile) and worked on my retaining wall, so I'm not complaining - right now anyway!
Sounds like we're all pretty much achey and grimy and busy in the gardens. We had a heavy frost last night. I need to bleach myself for church and then head up for a trail ride.
Well I am back and will never, ever again offer to help someone to move!!! I told her to get all her un-necessary stuff packed and ready to go 2 weeks ago.When she called to make sure I was still coming I asked if she was packed and she said yep ready to go She had 1/2 of the kitchen packed, that is it. Pictures still on the walls, knicknacks still out everywhere and nothing, I mean nothing else packed. Then when I showed up with the truck and trailer she wanted to go shopping at Mervyns for a new outfit. Whaaaat???? No we are not going!!! So I loaded up some furniture and packed and loaded pictures, knicknacks, and some junk and took them to her new place and never went back, she and the other friend can finish....UGH!!!
Well thanks I feel better..:) I haven't caught up on the back posts but read yesterdays
Wood, sounds like everything is coming along great with the remodel. How much longer till ya get to move back in?? I hope it's soon..
Elaine, I love the swamp maple it's sooo pretty. 60 annuals in boxes on your porch is alot, I want DH to make me some for my shade plants...working on him daily...
Molly everything is pretty all bloomed out, how goes the DL bed?? Your potato sald recipe sounds good will have to try it...
Sheila, when you are done with the 2x4 may I borrow it??? I need to adjust something here real quick...
Darius, love the bus, it would look great painted with the Partridge Family colors!! Glad to hear you are finally getting progress and hope nothing else gets broken...How goes the new house hunt??
sarv, great to hear you got the right door..:) I used to get my MIL plants to go in the ground or pots for her porch since she had a hard time digging..LOL on time I even got her a tomato and potted it up for her...
Bal, That turned out beautiful. I mentionbed to DH that is what I want going into the back yard and he said he'd think on it, so....
Mary dinner sounds wonderful!! Do you have any more rides coming up?? Did you ever make the torch??
defoecat, OMG!! What a way to end a day. Is your DM doing better? T's&P's for you both.
Waves to carat, ernie and mccool and everyone else I missed hope your day is great and you get alot of gardening done with minimal pain.....Lauri
I did a nice long post after my race to be first and it flew off into cyber space...sheeesh! All that wasted effort.
Not going to try it again...will come back later after I access the winter kill and see how many shrubs didn't survive. Hope we can find receipts so Wally World can replace them. Have not had good results with most of their perennials, HD gets zone hardy plants for this area, I think WW just gets the best price from growers whether they are good for zone 5 or not.
Expect DH will want to be outside all day, which is good because we need to do a lot.
Later
Sheila
Lauri,
What a horrible friend. But I gotta tell ya, there's plenty more like that one around the world. I think we have all had that happen. The worst is when it's your relatives, cause you can pick your friends. Some people can just be plain lazy and inconsiderate.
The cash crop Daylily beds are doing great. There's something blooming and reblooming every day over there. The ditchlilies up on the road swale are on their way to doing great.
We have put in such a wide variety of plantings all around the house, every day my walk around brings new blooms and surprises.
When Darius was here I bought a Texas Sage at her suggestion. When I was at Norma's yesterday, I saw she had one and it was in bloom. When I came home, I found one little bloom on mine. :^))))))
Tomato plants, most all of them, have fruit on them now. Still green, but on their way!!!!
The prediction of rain for today has been moved to tomorrow. 30% now, so maybe we will get some rain then.
Sure hope so. It's like dangling a carrot in front of a mule.
Molly
:^))))
Edited for spelling of course, and then probably didn't get them all corrected anyways.
This message was edited May 7, 2006 8:14 AM
Sheila,
If you paid more attention to those poor poor kitties, they wouldn't have to be calling people on the phone. Did you give them my number yet?
:^))))) Molly
I can understand, Larie, that we mix up posts at some time, I get them mixed up very often and therefore to not respond to some because I forget who said what, lol but just to tell you it was me who showed the maple tree and filled the boxes with plants, not Elaine. Friends can be very inconsiderate at times, I know all about it but we are not made alike.
As far as husbands go, yes sometimes they can be thoughtless and do not cooperate when something needs to be done, however, I think wives are like that too at times, I know I was! If the angels would send my DH back, though I know they need him more then I do because he is the best in their group, I'd never complain again. ;-))
It is a beautiful morning but with a chilly wind, temp is only 42' right now but it suppose to be at least 70', just perfect There will be more planting for me to do, but will be off to the nursery also to get more pretty things.
I wish I could take a picture of Samson as he chases the spray from the hose as I water the garden, he is so funny!
I was up at 2am, but there was no one else here!! So really I was first....LOL
Lauri - who was the pain in the patootie that you were helping move? Cross them off your list...
DS was over all day working on his trailer (major leak) DH said he found him in the upstairs of the barn going thru DH fishing tackle boxes and helping himself. grrrrr- I can't tell you all the things he has of ours: stereo speakers (taken when in college and we never knew!! - left his old ones in replacement), expandable tree saw, snow blower, air compressor, fishing tackle etc etc. He is such a good kid and tells us we don't use it. He is right, but sheesh. I would love to go to his house and load up on his stuff. stepping off the soapbox.
I laughed when several of you mentioned a pedicure for my DM. She has had 9 food surgeries and her feet are a mess. She had one toe lopped off - no nail on it- just a stub. She would never let anyone see her feet, much less touch them!!! She has huge calouses and has the doctor cut them off. I told her she needs to soak them and scrub them, but she has a big tummy and can't bend over that far. I offered to do it for her, but that was a no go. The only reason I saw one of her feet was that she was limping and told me she had a blister on her toe- I made her show it to me - it was a corn! Her vision isn't that good anymore either!
Maria = what a sweet thing to say about your DH. I complain tons about mine, but he is a real teddy bear and I would be lost without him around. (just wish he would do what "I" want him to do)
I am fighting mites on several of my plants- discouraging...I start them from seed, nurse them along and they get the crud just when I want to plant them outside.
I wanted to take some close up of my plants, but my camera won't do it. Now I am on a mission to get a new camera. Any of you have one that does spectacular close ups? Mine is fine for just routine shots, but the pits for really close, close shots. (mother's day gift to myself!! LOL)
Well, I need to go open up the greenhouse. Weatherman was completely wrong for this weekend- forecast was for cold weather- it was glorious yesterday....and looks to be the same today.
Getting our ribs for dinner - come on over!
Now wouldn't you be surprised, Sarv, if I hopped a plane and have spare ribs with you, I love them! LOL About your sweet son, he is spoiled, yes?
Oops, Sorry Maria and Elaine...:) just thump me with the 2x4 and I'll get it straight, LOL well maybe and it is a beautiful maple and wow on the plantings, I need some of that energy. Does Samson play with the hose when you put it down? Our dog used to try to run off with it hosing everyone in the way. I complain about my DH but would'nt trade him for anything.
They are friends we have known for 15 years, but she is sorta an airhead and shopoholic combined. She thought we would have a *surprise packing party* well she got surprised...:).Her DH is working way down south so we did it as a favor since he could'nt get home to do it. Thankfully this will be their last move.
Sheila, better watch your phone bill for any long distance or overseas calls. That is too cute and such a innocent face too.... Lauri
Hi All,
Sarv - I've had very nice close-ups from my Fuji E510 but the general garden pics didn't have the depth of field that our Canon A80 (that DH left in a rental car in Germany over a year ago) did. We've now also but a later model Canon, but I've not used it much and it's on the expensive side.
There are a few examples on last year's gardening page - http://www.magma.ca/~fredrkng/Ann/Ann_garden05.html - but bear in mind that they've been made smaller (less resolution) for the Internet.
Bonnie - hope you're catching up on sleep. Glad DM's fall was not serious and hope that she's out of hospital soon.
Molly, your description of all things blooming is wonderful. Your tomatoes sound pretty good to those of us for whom it is still to early to put them in the ground.
McCool - I thought I was the only one who had to do last minute cooking like that to save food.
Time to copy message. Just thought I had lost it. Fortunately, I didn't, but just in case ....
Lauri - sounds to me like you did more than you needed to for the friend who is moving. But some people just can't get themselves in gear. One of the aquafit ladies is like that. The whole group was helping her to pack up or sort her house. But other things intervened. She got a two week extension on when she had to be out. But when the aquafit group got organized to go back and help it was for her garage sale which was yesterday in the rain. I didn't even go. With all the orchestra stuff this week, I didn't have the extra time to spare. She is now facing having her stuff packed and moved by professionals this week. But even she, I don't think, would suggest going shopping.
Sarv - how about telling your son that taking things without asking is stealing. If you don't use those things, I bet you'd be willing to give them away if you were just asked nicely?
Well, not going to church this morning. Too much hassle when I have six hours of rehearsal. Will use the morning to wash the kitchen floor and do a few things around the house.
Never got back to the list last night. Just vegged in front of the TV watching old Marilyn Monroe movies. TVO (Ontario educational TV) has a program Saturday Night at the Movies at which they screen 3 old movies each week. I watched 1 1/2 and taped (or hope I taped) the rest. Also got round two crocheted on about 20 squares of DGD's afghan. I'll take a pic of them sometime and show you.
It's a glorious sunny day here. Told people it would be even though the original forecast was for rain. I've never yet spent a whole Sunday in rehearsals on a lousy day.
Ann
Well, I am up after about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. Have been up since 7:30. D (twin) S spent the remainder of the night here. DH has gone to church, DS to the hospital, and me, to sort of straighten and organize the mess that this house is in. After about 5 hours in the emergency room, they decided to keep DM, as her oxygen levels and BP were not stable. So it sounds as though she will be there a couple of days at least. She is supposed to have a fluid pill every day, and has been "skipping" it, and last night after a shot of Lasix removed approximately 3 liters of fluid. With congestive heart failure, that is not a good thing. So when they get her deflated, and things stable, she will probably be released.
The Ohio River Vally Round up was great, I'll see if I can remember who all was there. Ester and Bob from Ohio, tabasco, melissa, badseed, henry10, moonlit, greenthumb, kylilyhosta, dispatcher, mystic, and others, who I can't recall right now. About 40 members, plus guests, so a good group. I took my twin with me, and had more than one "double take". So I will now probably be remembered as "the twin".
Well, gotta get this slow moving body going, I can see that it is not going to be a productive day, already, I hear a couch calling out to me!!
Will check in later.
Went to look for pics of the Round UP. If anyone is interested the pics are in the RU pic forum, there is a link on the ORVRU thread. If I knew how to post a link I would. Dumb doesn't go away with time!!

I've missed quite a bit - read the last couple of days - always outa time! And then I did like the little kids, read the 'picutres', aren't they always the best part?
Got a phone call Friday evening, after 6 pm, from my friend at work, Lerae, the blind one. She asked and was allowed to take my 10 am to 2 pm hours yesterday and so I was able to go to the IARU!!! I was in tears, I was so happy! Ran outside and dug up my promised plants, plus a few more..... was done with that by 9 pm, baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies and hit the hay by 11 pm. We were on the road at 5:40 am and arrived in Des Moines at 10 am. It was a fantastic day!! Left about 5 pm and was home again by 10 pm. We took the scenic route home, thru the Loess Hills Forest (runs north of Sioux City all the way down almost to MO. Beautiful drive!
And for my first pick of plants, I got my first fern leaf peony!!!!!!! Yippee!!! I hope I can keep it alive. I started a pic thread in the RU Pics Forum - here u go..... there will be lots more pics later from other peeps.. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/599469/
A link for ORVRU... for defoecat ... http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/599313/
Good morning. Defoe, I'm glad you were able to go to the roundup, sorry about the unplanned trip to the hospital. It seems that a lot of elderly folks either don't take their medicines as prescribed, or they take too many thinking they haven't taken them at all.
Maria, happy planting, and playing with Samson and the hose. Dogs can get so crazy with things like that, a moving object they can't quite get ahold of. Maybe you could fasten the hose to something and take pictures of the action. The nice thing about digital is that you can take lots of shots without the expense of developing them, and chances are you will get a good one in the bunch.
Lauri, I think I would have done the same thing. Take one load of big stuff and go home. You describe her as a bit of an airhead and a shopaholic, that seems to fit perfectly. Pictures still on the wall and she thinks she is ready to move, expects others to do it for her and wants to go shop for a new outfit, sheeeeesh!
Sarv, your son needs a major adjustment in his thinking. Taking things and keeping them is stealing no matter if the things belong to his parents and they don't use them. It's not his stuff!
We have a light misty rain here this morning. I had planned to be planting more seeds, but maybe it will be dry enough to do it anyhow. Gotta go now, see you later. ~~~ to everybody.
Maria, I adore my DH most of the time. It's only when he doesn't do things my way that I whine. LOL Actually he is really good about keeping up on things. My only real complaint is that he finishes fixing something and walks away not even thinking that maybe taking the tools and such back to where he found them might be a good idea.
Bonnie, I gasped and sighed through your post. How scary for you and her. Glad that she didn't get any serious damage and I hope she is home soon....Glad you enjoyed the RU. I can't wait until I can attend one.
.
Laurie, I have a SIL just like your friend. FIL will beg for DH to help her and when he gets there he ends up having to do it all. For one move he was having to throw things in black garbage bags and leave them on the yard so he could get everything out before they locked her out. She knew she was being evicted, knew she couldn't come up with the money, and had the notice with the lock out date and time on the frig. Her excuse why she hadn't done a thing was that she forgot. Best thing out of that move was DH forgot the bag full of my MIL's things in his truck when he dropped her off. SIL constantly borrowed and never returned items.
Well I think I better get out and water the plants. Have a couple loads of laundry left to do and then I want to go to the Brighton store to get a present for a friend. I hope all have a spectacular day.
Ooooof! Came in to take a breather....dug up one patch and yanked all the crabgrass and runners out. Can't tackle the next one until I recover. DH is doing my brakes...his buddy is coming over at noon to help him do some odds and ends on the Honda. I am not feeding him today either. Got my cacciatori started and ready to go do some lily putzing.
Molly, if you want to call Sammi, his number is 1-800-SPOILED. He does do a good innocent look doesn't he? He gets lots of practice.
Since I cajoled DH into tilling the bed for my daylilies before the rain came, I immediately plopped 17 in there, and have taken a break. Usually go to church, but just couldn't hack it today.
I will comment more in detail later, D(twin)S went to hospital to try to "catch" the Dr. So she gave me a day off. As usual, older DB, & DS, have not made any effort to get to the hospital, one said maybe this afternoon!! I have just coined a new abbreviation, when I now type DTS, you know it is the twin one. To hard to explain every time.
Later everyone 1-800 SPOILED!! indeed, M5 tell him I will call him later in the day!!
hahahahahahahaha
Taking a break- got all my dahlia tubers potted up and out of the house - I can actually see my counter top and it is dirt free!! yahoo. Lugged 20 brugs outside too - still more inside that are too big for me to lug.
DS is here again today working on his leaky trailer. We were angry with him about the speakers, but the other stuff he borrowed with us knowing it, just never gets around to returning things. The crazy thing is that DH has doubles and sometimes triples of things, so he never misses them. DH has a tractor/snowblower, so DS took the hand push snowblower. I don't want it back, just would like some $$ for it! LOL fat chance!! He's the youngest and has always been such a good kid (other than the rotten teen years) For holidays he writes the most precious notes in his cards to me...and I've saved everyone of them. Maria- he is spoiled....I think!!
Defoe- glad you could attend the round up...sounds like fun!! I've never been to one. Sorry about DM - hope she is back home in a jiffy.
Our neighbors caught a feral kitten this winter (their second) and have kept it in the house all winter. They had her fixed this Friday, let her out on Sat and she ran away. They've been out calling and calling for her. That would be my
luck!!
M5- I need some of your energy....can't seem to get moving today and it is gorgeous out too!! I've walked around the gardens several time and keep returning to my hellebores. This is the first year they have bloomed and they are so beautiful. Several have seed pod things on them - hope they spread all over!!
Well, I already had my bowl of ice cream, now I need to MOVE>>>>
Hi again. I've been planting onions, seeds, more seeds. We had a little rain shower so I used it as a lunch break. Also made a quick trip to town to get more bone meal and of course the store with the better brand in larger bags is closed today, so I got a different brand that I don't think is as good, but can continue my planting. Nobody else in town has anything larger than those little boxes, way too expensive to go that route. The lady who taught me about organic gardening used it with everything, and so do I. The first year I forgot and then remembered the bone meal in the middle of planting lettuce. I really didn't think it would make that much difference, but the ones with bone meal were bigger and greener than the ones without it, so that convinced me. Do any of you use it?
Sarv, your neighbors should have waited until the poor kitten got over being traumatized from her trip to the vet and surgery before letting her go outside. Hopefully if they put some food out she will come back. Poor kitty! And I was thinking what a whale of a garage sale you could have, at your son's house of course, so you wouldn't have to move all the things. Good thing he's not my kid.........
Meezer, Sammi does look innocent. LOL at his phone #. Maybe AmandaPanda would like to call him.
Back to planting. When the vegie garden is planted I have lots to do in the flower beds. It never all gets done but it does keep me out of mischief.
Yes, Mary, I have used bine meal at the farm house on m flowers and bilbs but my dogs always sniffed it and dug up what I planted, grrrrrr
Good Evening All,
Darius came by this afternoon on her way to the Carolinas to look at property. She brought a couple variegated brugs, a Bay Laurel and a Patchouli. That patchouli, mmmmmmmm. I think maybe if I keep that in the yard, I better get a date.
They continued on their trek and crossed the state line this afternoon. I believe they will be staying at a KOA this evening in Ga. She called and said they passed through a rain shower, then through a thunderstorm. She's sending them south for us now. I'm looking out the window at the northern skies now.
Jeremy and I went to town to check out this veggie and seafood stand. Town, would be Bronson. I went to that stand one day. They were closed, but there were maters, taters and other veggies out on the displays. Total honor system going there. Lady told me today that she has come in to work and found money with a note for watermelon etc. That is so cool.
Anyway, they had fresh grouper and some gator tail. I let Jeremy be in charge of the cooking on the sideburner of the grill. Can't have fried foods in the house, smoke alarms you know. With a little direction from the blue ginger flower bed, he managed to put together some Louisiana fried grouper and gator tail. It was wonderfulllll.
I forgot to make the saled. Will get that as dessert no doubt.
Wish yall were here to share, it was so yummy!!!
Molly
:^))))
Me too, Molly. It sounds wonderful. We are having leftovers, with salad and garlic bread. Quick and simple since the cook is a tired gardener tonight. I was really careful today and had no slippage with my hip. Yesterday I stepped wrong (first time in a couple of weeks) and OUCH, so then I spent close to an hour on the heating/vibrating pad, and went to bed. It felt pretty good this morning but is tired now from all the bending over.
Thanks for the update on Darius, we all need to keep track of her. I hope they find the right place quickly so they can get on with moving there.
Maria, my garden is fenced and pretty much dog proof. I had used some bone meal in the flower beds, and when our son and his wife stayed with us for a few months their dog did a bit of digging and rearranged some of the bulbs I had just planted.
Time to feed my horses and then throw a salad together.
The missing kitten showed up at our house tonight and wouldn't you know the neighbors aren't home. It is real skiddish and wouldn't come to me, but did stop and look when I called its name. I followed it to see where she was going, I went back home and looked here she was again. I think she will be fine and will return home. I noticed the neighbors left their back garage open...probably to lure her to food.
Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 70's with lots of sun. I'd like to get some annuals in, but I know I shouldn't. Weather report for the later part of the week is cold and rainy again. But, they are often wrong, so I won't get my underware in a knot yet!
The wave petunias I started from seed are huge!! They were one of my big successes! I will be sure and do more next year.
Molly - glad Darius stopped by. Hope they are successful in finding property that they like. What an adventure. Hope the brugs do well - when they get big enough and you are about to chop them back - remember me!! The white 4 o'clocks from you are doing great! Think I'll pass on the gator tail....doesn't sound good - what does it taste like?
Mary - take it easy....a vibrating heating pad? Hmmm, that sounds like something I'd like. I keep my heating pad on the back of my chair...use it daily. Do you use the bone meal on your flowers too? I've been watering with alphalfa tea - hopng to see major results!!
Well, time for jammies....hopefully I can sleep the whole night- I've been really bad the last few nights....
Hi everyone
Remember me!!!
I'm still at my brother's house. He and the DH were able to figure out how to get me on the net finally after 4 days!!! I've been having *major* withdrawals. I haven't had time to catch up yet but will try to go back and read up.
Defoe, so sorry to see that your DM is in the hospital? From what I'm reading today I'm gathering she fell? I'll have to go back and try to catch up. Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the roundup.
Lauriwilson ... with friends like that ... who needs enemies!!! LOL
Hi Maria~~~ at you and Samson.
Meezers~ so so glad to see you're feeling better. You were *really* under the weather last time I had checked in.
Sarv~ any of that strawberry shortcake left? I know ... I know ... that's been *days* ago!! But you can't blame a girl for trying! It sure sounded good! LOL
Hi Mccool. That candle sure sounded pretty. I know your customer was glad to receive it. You are so kind to do those special orders like that. :) Those you did for me were sure a big success.
Darius~ hope your trip is going well. So sorry I wasn't home this time. :)
Woodspirit~ sure sounds like things are shaping up at your house. Know you'll be glad when it's all finished. :)
Well, I know I'm not doing very good at catching up tonight, but I have a lot of reading to do. Please know I'm waving to all and missing everyone. Hope to be back before long.
Hugs&blessings to everyone. Will tell you all about my trip when I have more time.
~~~ to everyone
... Elaine
I'm just gonna hit some high lights of things that really caught my attention. Not to mean that other things are not important.
Kooger, update us on Candice situation please. Still praying for that whole mess.
M5, glad to see that you are over the bug and up and about.
Mary, you always amaze me at the amount of work you get done.
Sarv, hold the garage sale at DS, and while everyone is busy, load your things up for their return trip home!!
Molly, last time DH was in florida, he had alligator, he said it was pretty tasty.
Darius, hope your trip is successful.
McCool, depending on DM situation, may not be "on time" tomorrow. If I miss you I will call back. Please don't hang around waiting for me. DM is supposed to be released from the hospital tomorrow morning, depending on all labs being okay, but you know how slow things can be sometimes.
101, I would have had more than withdrawal 4 days without internet. I would have needed padded walls. Will you be back home tomorrow? I know that you have enjoyed your "graduation" and "reunion" will have to tell us all about it when you get home.
Saying hi to lauriewilson, Carat, Viann (are you rehearsed out?) Maria (Samson with the hose) LOL., and dmc, just sitting here nodding off. I don't do well on 3 hours sleep.
Did want to tell you that I planted the 17 daylilies, 10 perennials, and since the rain has held off, maybe tomorrow afternoon, can get about 30 annuals, and vining things in the ground. Sprayed all the veggie garden, something is doing major damage to foliage. I sprayed with a mixture of insecticide and Mighty Plant. People if you haven't used it, beat a path to your nearest retailer. I sprayed my tomato babies with it on Friday, and they about doubled in growth overnight. Also sprayed DH's and didn't tell him, but he is marveling at how they are growing. I finally fessed up, and after he had sort of pooh poohed me spending the $$ on it, said that it might be worth the extra cost!! Purchased mine through the coop. Got some more coming.
Let me tell you, if you have not had the opportunity to attend a RU, please consider it time well spent. The Ohio River Valley Forum was started when ever Dave redid the format several months ago. I met the nicest people, some were not what I pictured, but perceptions change daily. I have only met 2 unpleasant people on DG, and they seem to have disappeared in the past year. They had no business here anyway among the nice folks. DG'ers and Gardeners in general are great people. And of my gosh the amount of plants to trade, and the food. Couldn't buy that kind of entertainment for a big price. I highly recommend RU's.
Well, off to an early bed time. Will get up early to get to the hospital to see if DM is being released. I know, get there early, wait, pace, wait some more. Paper work is so slow to be processed.
Will check in when I return tomorrow. Everybody have a good night.
Came here with the intentions of catching up but I just cant seem to stop yawning. I managed to get all the sewing done I needed to do. The pile was getting awfully tall. Ironing is done also. Had to re-embroider a shirt for a friend. I wasn't paying attention and did the lettering upside down. DH, tried to make me smile saying that he thinks she should wear it anyways and walk on her hands. So off to the store for a new shirt to redo the whole thing. Good thing I was in a fairly good mood when I started or I just would have walked away.
Went to Kirkland Home earlier today for some candles that I saw were on sale and found some garden sign stakes on sale for .97, normally 9.99. I had to take one up to the counter to double check that the price was correct. They are made of iron and one says WELCOME and the other GROW. I needed some height in a couple places and the price made them perfect.
Well good night to all. Sleep tight and I hope that everyone has wonderful weather tomorrow.
Casey
df - yeah, Kandyce had her first session with the counselor last Tues. I have not talked to her since. Next appt. is Thurs. Baby Kayleigh is still at neighbor's. I plan to call her tmr. DS left for job in IN Thurs. Hoping to have a nice talk with her tmr. :)
Hi,
Bonnie, sorry to hear about your mother. At least it doesn't sound as if she did much damage when she fell and perhaps it was a good thing that she was checked out since she hasn't been taking the medication. My mother constantly complains about the diuretic that she has to take because she feels like she spends half her life in the bathroom already and can't see why they'd give her something to add to the problem. She does take it though. I'm kind of leary about prescription meds myself --- luckily I don't take any so far. I know that you've had a problem with some that you've been taking and I've heard plenty of horror stories from others as well.
I'm envious of all of you who accomplished a lot today. My plans were a lot bigger than the reality, I'm afraid. Almost all my seedlings were transferred to the greenhouse. Now I have to try to start all the new basil varieties I received and see if I can get some peppers started too (even though it is a bit late). I'm hoping to get all my big pots sterilized tomorrow and to transplant some lettuce into the garden. We're planning a trip to a garden center too so that I can get some alfalfa pellets (nobody around here seems to carry alfalfa meal). The asters that I savaged still look pretty good since I stuck them in water and most of them had some roots attached. I plant to try potting them up tomorrow too.
Hey, 101, welcome back! We all missed you.
Molly, thanks for the info on darius and her sister and the update on doings at your place. I've only tried gator sausage so far. DH thought it was great, but I wasn't terribly keen on it. Does it tend to be tough?
sarv, glad to hear that the kitten hasn't gone too far yet anyway. I agree with Mary, they should have known better than to let her out the day after surgery! I sure hope they can get her back inside and let her heal properly. Good for you for getting all that planting done!
V-ann, don't know how you manage to get so much done with all your musical interests. You've got a good excuse for the "last minute cooking" anyhow. I suppose I do too. There just aren't enough hours in the day sometimes.
Miss Miceus left a present under my chair. Ick! I looked under there just in time to see it's dying twitch. I do feel bad for the poor little mice and we used to try to rescue them from the cats, but you know they'd be back inside the house before we were. If we didn't let the cats do their thing we'd probably be inundated with mice. (She caught this critter inside the house, possibly in the basement.)
Maria, I'm also in awe of all the energy you manage to muster up. I hope that your back isn't taking too much wear and tear with all the planting you've been doing. I know what you mean about the bone meal and the dogs. I'm afraid to use it (though I did use an organic bulb food that has some in it last year). About thirty years ago or so my parents allowed me and my roommates to put a veggie garden in their side yard and we tilled the soil and added bone meal before putting in our seeds and seedlings. Shortly thereafter, my parents reported a yard full of dogs, many of which they'd never seen before. Needless to say, everything was thoroughly dug up and we had to start all over again (minus any more bone meal!)
Hi Casey, I know just how you feel about the messed up shirt. It's bad enough when you're flogging yourself to get things done on time, but when you make a mistake like that and have to start all over, it's really the pits! I've had similar experiences with jewelry work.
Hi lauri, don't blame you for stopping at one load. One of my brothers and his wife arrived to help our youngest brother to move and found essentially the same situation. They were not pleased in the least and don't plan to be on hand to help him again.
Kooger, so glad you were able to get to the RU! I, too, was wondering what's been happening with your son and Kandyce. She's probably thinking that if she's likely to end up severly handicapped or possibly dead in the near future that she'd better have some fun here and now. Bad situation for all concerned.
~~~~~~~to anyone that I might have missed and all the regulars and newbies who've been too busy lately to stop by. It's getting late and I'm off to relax a bit and read in bed for a short time. Sweet dreams to all.
Hi all, one last stop in to set up tomorrows daily and to tell you I forgot. Darius said she was going to try to get on wireless at the cabin they are staying at tonight. But it doesn't look as tho it worked. Maybe she'll have it mastered at the next stopover. Ah, but she will be in Tn and can borrow the computer at her hostess' house.
Sarv, the gator taste like chicken.........don't be afraid LOL. Not really about the chicken, but that always seems to be the thing to say about unusual foods. It is quite tasty, not gamey or fishy. A little chewy but not tough. It was breaded and fried so it was mixed with those flavors.
Never did get to that salad, so maybe I'll have one for breakfast. And now it's late, time to get to bed.
We'll see ya tomorrow..............over here: http://davesgarden.com/place/t/599808/
Nite Gracie
