we purchased this house recently and the front landscape or lack of one was a real problem. the house has a long driveway with a citrus grove in front, then you kind of drop down the hill to the house. the driveway (blacktop) goes all the way to the porch, no softscape to break it up, and then circles around and back up the hill. the garage/mother-in-law is attached to the main house by a walkway and between those two buildings there is a wind-tunnel effect that comes off the lake. that problem will be solved by glass block walls, but that's another story. the house faces west and in florida that means blazing sun all day. we also have a lot of wind. to add to the problems, the house has wonderful wide overhangs, but crazy angles so that when it rains we get pouring from all directions onto whatever is beneath.
i'm going to post as many "before" pictures as i can find on my jumbled mess of computer pictures, so this may be on-going into tomorrow. i feel like i've made good choices in what i've done so far, but i would love to hear ideas anyway. it's never too late to change things and i'm interested in knowing what i may have missed. thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions. i'm new to this forum, but you don't have to be gentle! LOL debi
this first shot is just to give you an idea of the driveway.
what would you have done differently?
