A shot of new growth on one of your favorite plants. Quick recovery on the hand, sweet girl, and lots of success in the garden.

One to raise Equil's spirits
Plant image speaking...
"Does Jim know you clad us with all this frost? Will we die, or eke us out to live another day?"
Scott, she's going to take ten years to heal because she just can't leave DG be.
Awww, how sweet. I love those trees. I was able to get mine in the ground. The one I planted a few years ago is doing well and it appears it will be leafing out soon. We're a few weeks behind you in that department.
For what it's worth... I think I finally found somebody like me. Check out the posts in this thread by a newer member named MQN-

Looks as if gardening is a dangerous sport for her too.
Nope, won't take 10 years to heal. The surgeon scared the bejeevies out of me. I've been off work all week sitting here bored out of my gourd reading magazines and eating and visiting DG. I can use the index finger and thumb on that hand now so typing is much faster. The most I've done is to go outside and pull dandelions up with my left hand. Even then I had trouble pulling weeds while keeping the other whole arm raised above my head so I gave up. It felt so much better starting two days ago but I bumped it (trying to reel out the garden hose to water plants with one arm) and felt as if I was back to square one for a little bit so watering can wait. You have no idea how hard it is looking at plants that need to go in the ground thinking that I should be able to do some of the smaller ones with one arm. Very humbling experience. Two more weeks and then I should be able to use both hands as well as all the fingers on both.
One thread forward, two posts back!
I remember some knee surgery. Hmmm....I should resurrect the commentary.
Not necessary. I recall what I said ;0
I missed this...... what happened to Equil ?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Ennyhoo, I wish you the best, Equil.
stupidity/carelessness happened. I'm much better now.
Me three. I know I don't get here as much as I used to, but I still look in from time to time.
Equil, I Hope you recover soon!

Hey! How's the new home?
Oh, its going good. I was going to spend the nite in it for the first time tonite but I opened the sheet set and it was for a twin and not a queen, so I came back home.
I'm 38, and I've been sleeping on a twin size bed all my life, and by god I had this all planned out. I was gonna stretch out on that thing and sleep in like theres no tomorrow!
Yesterday I bought a 400 thread count sheet set for my new queen size bed and its the wrong freaking size. If the mobile home hadn't been given to me I'd say its been a nightmare! I don't complain about it though. I have the electricity and the gas turned on, but no water. It was vacant this Winter when it went below freezing and they let the water pipes underneath freeze and bust. I'm in the process of fixing that and getting water in there. And then, I have to go down to the water dep't and show them my contract for deed, photo id and a hundred dollar deposit, because the previous tenants left a bad debt and they suspect I might be them trying to get the water turned back on.
I sure hope your hand heals up nicely.
I have 2 kidney stones, but they don't bother me so long as they don't move.
One is in the tube and the other one is in a kidney ready for departure!
My insurance is helping them to pay for their CT scan machine!
$4,300 per scan and I've had 2!

p.s. How is this for a Black Locust in bloom? I took this photo a few hours ago of a big, old black locust on the property of a historic home here in Independence, Missouri.
Although Black Locust isn't one of my more favorite trees, I do think it is beautiful in bloom.
A queen sized bed! Wooo who! Here's hoping you get some company in that bed so it doesn't seem so spacious. I've bought the wrong sized sheets before. I suppose it helps to look closely at the packaging even if they are in the stack that is supposed to be the proper size. You know what's better than new sheets? Laundering them and hanging them out to dry outside. The smell when you go to sleep on air dried sheets is so wonderful. Do you have space to hang them out to air dry them?
Well if that isn't a real bummer about the water. What a bunch of idiots. I can't imagine what the $$$ set back on that is going to be. Here's hoping you didn't gift that cash we talked about. You didn't did you?
I'm sure your contributions toware the pay off on their CT machine are appreciated. Really sorry about your kidney stones though, I understand the pain from them can be excrutiating.
Have you begun to move all of your babies over to the new digs yet? That's going to be one heck of a plant migration.
I missed this...... what happened to Equil ?
Inquiring minds want to know.
What happened to her was she threatened to cut down one of my nice little pink-flowering trees and the tree gods punished her. She's lucky I was able to intervene with them before it was too late. She owes me big time now.
Will, super congrats on the new home!!! It'll all work out and we're really happy for you! Next time I get to KC I'll expect an invitation to see your new digs.
Guy S.
Ha! Company in the queen sized bed? maybe someday!
I just called my friend and told her "one stop puddin pop", I'm supposed to go over there and mow her grass. I told her I need to return the sheets then I'll be over.
It was supposed to be a queen set, thats what the package says.
Yes, here where I'm at now there is a clothes line.
I'm going to keep renting here too, for a while, its dirt cheap. I'll leave a lot of potted plants here. There is more space here for them.
I do have alot to migrate though. It was a mild Winter, I think maybe only ten plants died from the cold. My Blue Fescue in a small pot even survived outside!
I gave them a thank you card and a Benjamin ($100) inside of it, after all they did give me a 1997 mobile home. Not as much money as I said though.
Hope I don't blow a hammy with all this running I need to do today!
Will
The tree Gods! hehe! Thanks. Sure its a deal, Guy, Edie and you are welcome anytime.
Will
I'm so glad to hear you came to your senses and only parted with $100. Good for you.
Yes Guy, the Native Tree Gods did spare me... but only so that I could finish off the job at a later date.
I've got paid labor here (our oldest kid and now a neighbor's kid in his early 20's) digging holes for me so back out I go to supervise. So far I've got 30 perfect little holes dug for large Hosta that are on their way to me and now it's time to go for another 60 holes for saplings and shrubs. We're on a roll now! And April came over early this morning and planted out all of my tissue cultured orchids! Those were my biggest worry. Then she potted up several rare Drosera for me and those were my second biggest worry. Then she potted up patio and porch plants for me! Way to go! I so love FREE slave labor! When can you come back for a visit Guy? Bring friends! Just kidding. My plants are all going to go in the ground with or without me.
Any forum friends are more than welcome too. If you're ever in KC or close, come on over and stay! I'll even keep the cat off the counters while I'm cooking for guests!
Just kidding, she behaves good. She probably wouldn't even be seen, she is afraid of everything but me.
I had a short flare-up of pain with my kidney stone today while I was out, but it has already subsided. I guess the stone will come out another day!
The couple that gave it to me are real nice. I know it sounds odd but they just wanted desparately to get out from under the lot rent. They couldn't sell it because they owe way more on it than its worth. I was just in the right place at the right time.
As luck would have it, that mobile home has turned into a money pit enuff.
Yeah, $100 was a good number, other people thought the other was too much too. She was getting in her car when she opened the thank you card and I heard her squeal so I think it was well received. She has Leukemia and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, they have concerns other than the mobile home, health and financial.
Equil likes her some slave labor..hehe!
I too love the smell of clothes dried on the line. For years thats how I dried everything.
People at work then would comment on how my clothes smelled in passing. It IS a delightful smell. Bed-sheets dried on the line must be wonderful too, I want to do that now!
Will
You've even captured its furriness! Way to go!
