Texas Statewide Roundup in Photos
CeeJay==great pics! Notice I was on my feet for door prize time! LOL
I surely had fun...I think the fall RU should be at the same pavillion...right size and Dave and Trish can be there....PS: I blame it on the wind that had been blowing 100 mph for the hair.
On shopping list for next roundup: very large Cowboy hat and some cheap sunglasses!
I'll tell on her, that was beer she was hiding! As long as she doesn't tell on me for eating the last chocolate brownie....oops!
Debbie
Can't wait to see maggiemoo's pics! Ted took a bunch too!
Debbie
dmj - You are sooo naughty!! Nah - it was a cigarette. Oops!
I agree - fall RU at the same place. And we could all bring food so Dave doesn't have to feed us. BTW, Dave - That was really good BBQ. What was the name of that place again? Way too much, but now you can have a BIG block party!
dmj - A cowboy hat will blow away! Man, there was wind! Not used to that. Maybe hair nets. ROTFL
I wonder what you all really look like. I know that I certainly looked disheveled. And who had time to check a mirror? And who cared anyway?
And who cared anyway?
That's the ticket! I think we all ended up looking like gardeners, maybe even better, since we weren't sweaty and dirty, lol.
About Sheila left holding the bucket, you left out that we were tossing in coins as she made her way down the aisle, hehe. Good way to raise money for even more plants, Sheila!
:-)
Hey, Dave is talking about doing this again in October! Yippee!!
I'll get my photos posted in a while, have just gotten into the house finally. What a great time we had!
Just want to say, I was hiding the same thing that City_Sylvia was hiding. You never know when your momma might see these pix.
I had a great time!!! I wasn't going to let a little rain make me stay home when I could spend the day with DGers!!!
Thanks again Dave & Trish!!!
Great Day! Great Friends! Great Plants! & Great Food!
If that was a motion for the Fall RU, I second your motion!
I third the emotion!
What an absolutely wonderful time I had. I feel as if I had treated myself to a mini-vacation and am now home worn out but so very happy.
It was SO good to meet you all there! Thanks, Dave and Trish!! And thank you, Roadrunner, for sleeping on our couch and going up there with me. It was a LOT of fun travelling you!!! My plants are still lined up in front of the garage... Hopefully I can start getting them planted tomorrow.
~ Marylyn
Thanks again, Dave & Trish!
Posie, I feel the same way.
BTW, what did y'all get into after 4?
Bob, don't forget to post the recipe of your herb spread.
Yes, the recipe, Bob! That spread is so good, and that radish is the first radish I have tasted that I liked.
Thanks to Trish and Dave for a wonerful day, even if I did get my keys locked in the car! Thanks Dave for helping me get out of that jam. ...
Sylvia
It was a wonderful day and I am so glad I finally got to meet so many DGers!! All of the pictures are great!! Haven't hd a chance to see what we got shots of but if there is anything worthwhile, I'll post it. (Camera is smarter than we are, so we never really know :-)
Sharon
What an awsome day! Thanks to Dave and Trish, for Dave's Garden and for the RU. I don't know how many pictures Tom took. I was too busy handing out plants.:) We'll try to get them on here tomorrow. If I keep going to these RU's, I'm not going to have any more room for plants. Then what? Well I'm not going to miss an RU, so I guess I'll just have to start stocking my neighbor's yards.:) RU's are too fun to miss.
What fun to look at the pics everyone has posted and live vicariously! Thanks!
Sure looks like ya'll had loads of fun~!
Thanks for all the pics, folks! Nice to place a face with a name (if I can just remember them all now!).
Way to go. Congrats on a great Round Up!

Hey Shoe, I sure enjoyed your mug shot. You sure are a fun person.
Blessings,

ceejay,
That is my favorite female - wife for 37 years.
Thanks, Bubba. Does she have a name? (I know, I just can't remember....)
Bubba's wife is Linda. :-)
The couple with the cute dogs was Lily13 (Sheral) and her DH. She and Trois posted some great pictures over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/596869/

Here are Roadrunner's pictures: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/597814/
As asked for:
Second Breakfast (Around 10Am with red wine typically):
Radishes with Herbed Butter
Herbed Butter Ingredients:
4 oz Soft Butter
8oz Soft Cream Cheese
4 nice sprigs of rosemary
1 Tablespoon Thyme
1 clove minced fresh Garlic
Salt to taste
Optional ingredients, 2 sprigs Mexican Mint Marigold, 2 sprigs Marjoram, 2 sprigs Oregano, 4 nice big sprigs of parsley.
Typically you can crush the herbs in a mortar with a touch of salt to help grind and leach out the flavor. Chop the herbs finely then grind them. Do not put too many herbs in the mortar at one time. A food processor works great too.
Mix the herbs evenly into the cream cheese and butter.
The 'butter' should be a touch green with small even bits of green herb.
The taste ballance is important. The garlic should be forthright but not too much for the target audience. The rosemary should give a clear pine favor to it. The parsley can lend a clear impression of freshness. The thyme should be a subtle taste, recogniseable but muted. The marjoram, oregano and Mexican mint marigold should add richness without being forthright.
The butter should be covered and refrigerated for at least an hour, if not a day or two. My preference is 24 hours so the flavor blends into the butter.
Baggettes cut to about a half inch thich are perfect although crackers and the like work well. Put a nice thick layer of herbed butter on the baggette. Then cover with a slice of radish.
For most people a daikon radish skinned and sliced to about an eighth of an inch will be perfect. The classical radish to use is a French Breakfast Radish. If you are fond of radishes, by all means leave the skin on.
A layer of smoked fish on top of this makes it delightful as well and as we discovered at the RU, thanks to Tom, a rich sausage slice on top, washed down with beer, is just the thing for a hot afternoon.
As a further note, I usually add green onion to this as well.
Bob
I'm drooling.... It was SO DELICIOUS! Thanks for the added ingredients (the Bob add-ons) - the printed recipe was lacking.
CJ
MaryLyn - Thanks for the info. Now edited.....

What a wonderful receipe! Where was I when this was passed around? ...and would you believe I had three or four loaves of Baggettes in the trunk of the car?
Sylvia
Sylvia - Didn't you say that you were asleep in your car?
