Well, I received info from tonyjr on using it as a property spray for flies, mosquitoes, etc, planting veggies, tons of uses and we have 1 1/2 acres and an incredible fly problem every summer. They're not house flies, or horse flies, or no-see-ums, county ag doesn't know why they're around here or what to do about them. I'm not interested in spraying any kind of pesticide and we've fought this problem for so many years now that I'm going to be trying the h2o2. I'll be using a LOT. Will be walking a fine line in that I also garden for monarchs and will only be able to spray certain areas close to house so as not to upset monarchs. Does anyone know the shelf life of the h2o2? Hadn't checked yet. I've kept 40 volume for quite awhile and not noticed a perceptible drop in strength. Thanks for info

Hydrogen Peroxide Uses
A spray for flies? Tell more please! We have a dairy farm and LOTS of flies!
cailtlinsgarden, you can access this from the brugmansia forum, the vegetable gardening forum, and the california gardening forum. tonyjr posted the link on all 3 forums on july 2. I would try to link you to it if I weren't so technologically challenged! Article starts out with health aspects of h2o2, but then gets into his experiences with other uses, including insects. I'll try it next week.

Hey peroxide is great to get rid of blood stains, especially fresh blood. Commercially they call it baking grade peroxide and you can`t easily get it everywhere but it is good for skin problems back aches, all kinds of stuff you couldn`t imagine, but it comes in 100 lb. drums and there are books about it`s miraculous benefits. Amazing what O2 can do.
I wouldn't worry to much about the peroxide and sinus medication thing leading to your arrest. I have chronic allergies (just got a nasal steroid prescription for it) so I buy sinus medication by the case, the only one that works well is the questionable one, I use peroxide for everything, and I'm 27. If I haven't gotten arrested yet, I really doubt you will.
I think I am going to do some research on this. Hope to find some more scholarly research.

All have to do with peroxide
I found 35% food grade at a health food store.
I put the Safety Data Sheet for peroxide up a ways - for those of you new to the thread, or conversation, and didn't read that MSDS, please read it before using peroxide around the house. It's not hype, it's not panic, it's just straight facts.
Working for a large chemical manufacturer, I'm always reading MSDS's before I start working with something I haven't seen before. They're provided soley for your safety ... and 99% of the time contain all you'd ever need to know about hazards associated with their use.
We had an emergency with our dog...she ate the kitchen sponge..
The vet had us give her a tablespoon of peroxide to induce vomiting.... if it didn't work give second tablespoon after 5 minutes.....it worked.
Call your doctor before doing and depending on situation
I hate to bring more bad news. I love H202 for many uses and keep a fresh bottle on hand most of the time. That said, I'm a little concerned about the practice of pouring a water/peroxide mixture in one's nostril. The problem here isn't the peroxide, it's the water part of the equation, at least if it's tap water.
Believe it or not, truth really is stranger than fiction. There actually exists a brain-eating organism, something microscopic. It has been found in tap water in some areas. Most recently I think it turned up in one of the Gulf states. Apparently, it is safe to drink. I'm guessing stomach acids kill it. It has recently killed a few people, however, who used tap water in a Nettie pot to flush their nostrils. Now there is a warning to avoid pouring tap water into one's nostrils for this reason. Distilled water is ok, but no tap water. If you pour tap water in your nostril, and if this organism happens to be in it, you are giving it a path straight to your brain.
It's possible that hydrogen peroxide (mixed with tap water) would kill the organism, but I wouldn't want to take that chance. Again, love all the great ideas, and hope to read more in the future. Just want to warn everyone about possibly putting tap water in nostrils, as the risk is too big.
In case anyone is interested, here is a link regarding the 'brain eating amoeba': http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=148425
If you read down to the 4th paragraph under "How Do Amoebas Get In The Brain?", it mentions "people...who used untreated tap water to cleanse their nostrils."
Here is another article. This one discusses recent deaths (in Louisiana) from using tap water in neti pots: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2074957/Deaths-brain-eating-amoeba-linked-sinus-remedy-colds.html
Sorry, I know this is a yucky subject, but one of the uses for hydrogen peroxide above mentions putting a mix of H202 and water in the nostril. (Note that the suggestion occurred before we became aware of the risks involved in putting tap water in nostrils.) I wanted to warn everyone about putting tap water in the nostril. Not all tap water is infested with this amoeba, but why take the chance.
Edited to add 1 last link, this one from the CDC includes (at the end) information on what to do to make tap water safe for use in nostrils: http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/naegleria/faqs.html
