IO1- your DH works for 911?? Would you do me a favor and ask him if people call with 'flat tire' problems? Or ask him what he would suggest..

tig- I will be on the look out for the numbers you suggested. thanks...

Watching American Idol - just love that show....

Robert Thanks so much.

Mary, actually the intent of the orchid house is primarily as an outdoor living space. I just swiped the idea from an orchid house/structure as you saw. This thing will be 30feet long and 15 feet wide. I will use it in the winter to double as a patio and as a greenhouse although I am trying to stay away from tenders.

I am considering painting the wood the Bleeker Beige trim color. I have some left over from another job. You will be able to see the green of the house through the slats.

Lots of work ahead of us.

Molly

Me thinks you have a problem. That keeps going back to today's thread.

Sarv~ my DH said if you get in a pickle ... call 911. They will help you get help. It's best to have a plan, though, as a true emergency call would take precedence. :)

Molly~ I think you're just a glutten for punishment! LOL

Robert, that goes for you too! LOL Good to see you back.

Anne - Stay! Definitely not a requirement to reply to everything. If you can reply to EVERY post and keep up with it all the time, you've got WAY too much time on your hands.

I'm not even gonna try. I'll just say that I've scanned all the posts. I can't even admit to having read them carefully today. I came in awhile ago from the Food Cupboard's AGM. In view of my retirement, they had asked me to be the speaker and talk about the early days of the Food Cupboard since I'm one of the few relics who was around at the beginning 18 years ago.

I told you all about the beadwork version of the logo they gave me in early February after I retired. Well they finally got it framed and presented it to me at the AGM. It's lovely. I'll try to get a good picture of it in the daytime so that I don't have the flash reflecting off of it.

Now! Reports are all written and done. Speech is written and delivered. Tomorrow will be busy, but next time there is a nice day, I might be able to get into the garden, though with a concert on May 8, I need to be practicing regularly. Several of you had haircuts this week. Tomorrow I join you. I'm getting kind of shaggy.

Hope you all sleep well and I'll be back tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Molly, your orchid house sounds great. We'd like to glass and screen in the front porch someday if we can ever afford it. (We also need to get at least one of the two huge trees in the front taken down first.) That would hopefully give us at least a little passive solar heating and might give me a place to over-winter some plants as well.

Sue (101), please be careful! It seems like you've been a danger to yourself lately. You know how upset everyone here would be if you were to go "missing" even for a day.

darius, sorry things didn't work out with the exam schedule. I know what you mean about the "juvenile" doc, but you know the reverse can be scary too. When I was a lot younger I used to go to a rather old gynecologist. I knew for sure that he was TOO old when I went back to him because the IUD he'd inserted was making me bleed and he not only didn't remember doing it, but had forgotten to put it in his notes as well. He retired not long after that, thank heavens!

Hi Mary. I agree about the "kitty anchors". We seem to specialize in the twenty pound variety ---VERY effective!

sarv, good luck on your trip. If you're covered for roadside assistance by your insurance, it seems as though they should be able to tell you what to do in case of a flat or other auto emergency. Do you have an agent that you can call before you go?

Bonnie, sure, come on up and help us use up all that food I cooked Monday! I started to wonder myself about how long it would take us to use it up, but I don't think it will really be a problem. I filled up my largest stock pot with beef stew (our version is really more of a soup since I don't use any thickening) and we had some tonight. I put 2/3 of the remainder in the freezer for future reference and the rest in the refrigerator. We haven't touched the Shepherd's Pie yet --- will probably have that for supper tomorrow, and there's still plenty of sauteed pork tenderloin slices with wine and ginger sauce for Friday or Saturday. I shouldn't have to cook again for at least a couple of days.

Managed to put more seedlings into peat pots today and got the compost tumbler filled. (Only mangled one thumb in the process. Those *^%&# clamps on the doors are a real pain, in more ways than one!) Took a walk into the veggie garden-to-be and my fluffy gray "garden helper" showed up immediately. He just loves flopping over and rolling in the dirt --- must think he's a dog. I still haven't figured out how to keep him from rolling over my seedlings as I transplant them, short of banning him to the house. The gate on my poor excuse for a fence is totally trashed and unusable. (Even when it worked the cats soon figured out that they could scoot right under the chicken wire anyway.)

tgif, YUCK, ticks! I hate those things. I thought that it was the little one's that carried Lyme disease too. We use the flea and tick poison on the cats, but the big fluffy guy still seems to import them anyway.

Hey, magoobu, please don't desert us. Robert's right. There's no rule that says you have to post every day or respond to even one person individually.

M5, what's Sammi been up to lately? Has he settled down to being a staid and stately cat already? (Somehow I doubt that very much!) Glad your chair (and a half) has a new home.

V-ann, don't know what to say about the new program getting the go-ahead. I hope it's not a case of somebody knowing somebody in the right place. There's way too much of that kind of thing everywhere. Hope your speech went over really well.

~~~~~~~~to Maria, ss, Lauri, and anyone else I might have missed. Still have more to pot up, but may leave it for tomorrow night as I'm starting to feel really tire. Goodnight everyone.
Whew, I am tired just reading about what everybody has done today. The only part of my body that got a work out today was my mouth. Talked to 101, and about a half hour later M5 called. So the other muscles got a much needed vacation
mags, please don't leave coffee and..., we don't care that you do not respond to every post, just let us know what is going on with you.
I am not even gonna try to answer every post, have a bad case of CRS today, and I really like the feeling.
Finally, have had enough of the painful back, so called this morning, and I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow. I don't think that it is really the back, as one day it hurts on one side, and the next on the other, all lower back pain. I just want to make sure that the kidneys are not the cause. I have been very conscious of trying to drink more water, and more cranberry juice, just in case. Since I had a problem with medicine 2 years ago, have temporarily suspended a generic version of Crestor, and the Mucinex for loosening the mucus in my lungs. My insurance co insists that I have the generic version of Crestor, and have been taking it about the same amount of time that the back problems have been going on. So hope that the solution is as simple as stopping taking something. I will be sure to tell my Dr tomorrow.
DARIUS, SPITTING NAILS would be a mild version of the fit I would be throwing!! Having to go to another Dr at this point in time would be so worrysome for me. |Good luck with the referral.
Molly, did you really mean that you are gonna have a RU in June? Don't toy with me like that. If I have to sell my gems to pay for gas, I would love to come.
Bal, love it when you check in and tell us what you have been doing. Gee whiz, you have been one industrious fellow. Please post pics when this project is finished.
To update on neighbors beagle that survived the coyote attack. I went to see him, and he is a mess of stitches, shaved areas on his body, but his mangled tail just thumping to have a visitor. So there is a coyote patrol in our neighborhood now. Everybody is carrying a shot gun in the truck, and will try to thin the population, or help them understand they are not welcome here. I know, I just reinforced the Ky Hillbilly perception. A gun rack in pick ups, with 3 loaded guns!! But hey when our beloved pets are being attacked, it is time to do something.
Well, I have rambled, ~~~ to Maria, whose dinner sounded wonderful, Sarv, what is mulligan stew, Viann, how's the cold, lauriewilson, to tgif, yep we are finding them everyplace. Mr. B, just hates them, to Sarv, who will be able to see shortly, and anyone else I may have left out, not intentionally, Gonna go check some other threads, and may be back. If not, everyone have a wonderful night.
Bonnie,
Yup, it's true and I would love it if you could come down!
Oh Crappola, Ann's right, takes us right back here. Can anyone say slow learner? In my defense, I was sleepy. Am I fired yet?
