Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

hey, can I be first again????? Or doesn't this count since it's not morning yet?

Ann

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

No Viann, I am officially the first today. Just posted in yesterday's forum, so not to be outdone, came here immediately and posted so I could be first.

Boohoo! I wanted to be first!! No fair!! *smile*

Defoe, believe me ... you don't want me on crutches either! LOL I had knee surgery back in the 80's because I fell in the dishwasher ... another story ... and I was on crutches for 3 weeks!! LOL Hey, you know what they say ... you can't keep a good man down!!! :)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Just keep your legs, feet and hands healthy, that way it won't impair your vision!!

LOL!! Good night gracie!

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Morning, I'm all about the title of this today. Up at 3:15 with leg cramps and needing my sinus meds. I think I may have over done it a tad yesterday and still have a ton to get done today. My hands are so cracked that the dirt is embedded into the cracks and makes them look soooo pretty. LOL,So much for doing any Palmolive commercials for me, need to find my udder cream somewhere in this mess of a house....Oh speaking of this mess I found half of the extra bedroom yesterday when I took half of the plants outside.
Elaine, you fell *in* the dishwasher??? O.K. fess up how pray tell did ya do that?
I like the idea of making a leaning planter out of Mary's bucket so I asked Steve how I could do one and he said he may melt me one this weekend and NOT to try it myself. Oh poo, I bet I could do it but will wait for him
Well off to make a carrot cake and more cookies, the son came out and finished the others since he did'nt want them to get stale.
Have a great day will be back later. ~~~~ to all incoming....Lauri

Good Morning- a tad frosty here this morning - 29 deg! Everything is white, but I'm hoping the stuff in the greenhouse survived with the heater on. I haven't checked to see if it really worked tho!! They are saying the fruit trees took a hit tho - so sad for the farmers here. Sun is comingup and the skies are clear, so it is supposed to be a chilly, but nice day.

M5-laughed about you getting up from the floor. I tell ya, Contours has really made a difference in that area. It used to be I had to roll over and get on all fours to get up, now I can do it rather gracefully (strong legs again!)

IO1- at our age, we should only do one thing at a time (speaking from experience ya know) Walking and talking is just too much!! I did find myself putting on eye make up at a stop sign yesterday - but the car wasn't moving - just sitting there LOL

defoe - DH cleared the table AND did dishes - what came over him!! That was a nice treat for you - especially with your achy back. I had to give my DH a finger shaking today. I get up every morning to a paper plate on the counter with orange peels on it - now why can't he just toss it in the trash? Got up during the night to use the 'jon' and the seat was up - good thing I just didn't flop down and land in the drink - he would have gotten more than a finger shaking..

Time to wash the hair and see if I can rearrange it into something that looks decent!!

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

I have to admit - Skip is better at housework than I am. He does the laundry, I fold and put away. He cooks most of our meals, so I do the dishes. I think I'll keep him.

No pains here this morning, but if I fall into the dishwasher I'll let you know :)

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Jeremy and I went into town yesterday for seeds, potting soil and best of all to meet a new Dave's Garden Member. I met up with her at Lowes to give her a plant I had and she brought me one too!!! A Confederate Rose Hibiscus. I have never had one of those and I look forward to putting it by my fence to grow.

We also found the place that you take aluminum and copper for cash. We had that old a/c unit we cashed in and Jeremy has been smashing cans for months now to cash in. Well, he did okay with the cash, but we probably could drink a little more beer to increase the cash profit......not!!!!!

We spent the rest of the afternoon hauling mulch up to the daylily field. We have wide enough walkways between each row to lay this stuff down without burning the plants. First thing we did was take the dry cool stuff off the outer surface of the mound. Then once we got below that, you could see the steam rolling off. It was over 80 yesterday, so it wasn't like seeing your breath in the cold.

I am aiming to finish the DL field today and get some hauled up to the veggie garden and I know Jeremy wants to layer the driveway with some, but I'm not sure about that idea. We have a lot of tree stumps starting to heave up in the driveway we need to remove before we get a tire puncture.

Lowe's is having a garden cart sale right now. They got in a bunch like the one I bought except they are yellow. But they are on sale for $64 and change. Jeremy thinks I should go buy another. Maybe I will since I have no intention of buying a tractor.

Ahhhh, I should have got a picture yesterday. Jeremy took a rope, tied it to the handle of the garden cart and tied the other end to Lexy's collar. She pulled the cart down to the mulch pile, then back up with a full load, twice. He thinks she needs more exercise, and I'm sure he's right. Being a lifetime suburban, having a work dog is new to me. He says he will increase her activity slowly so as not to kill her. He wants to take Snowy's halter and use it on Lexy, but I think not.

We may get rain today, they are predicting it later in the afternoon. We had some last night. So we can haul some more mulch today.

See Ya Later,
Molly
:^)))

P.S. We are having a roundup at my house in June!!!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Molly - you DO need a tractor....a girls best friend!! I used mine all the time along with my garden cart that is attached...

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv, you are NOT helping. I have seen signs on the side of the road for tractors, tillers etc. I have slammed on the brakes, made a 3 point turn and gone back, only to get halfway there and repeat the 3 point turn. It's getting really hard to resist though.

Molly
:^))))))))))))))))))

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Had a light frost here last night, but DH had already taken my starters into the garage the night before and I didn't take them out yesterday as it was still cold. Maybe today. We had a light frost last night, but all the tulips etc. look fine. Lilac buds are starting to swell but one of them looks like winter did a number on it.

Dcat, coyotes! We have occasionally heard them here but they seem to stay away from the populated areas. There's enough small game to keep them satisfied, and so far, I haven't heard of any pet casualties. If their population increases, we may see problems.

Can't imagine a business not returning a phone call. Since we signed up for numerous "free" estimates at the Home and Garden show, I think we've had a response from every one of the. The two guys we already met with came back with prices that make me think they overestimated our net worth! Or that our last name is Gates.

And it's your fault I hung my hummingbird feeder out with a fresh supply of nectar...in fact, I bought a second one. Now if I don't see any hummers, you are going to hear from me!!

SS, super nice bench! Wish I had one. DH could build one for me, but I'd have to give him 340 hints and a nudge to get him moving on it. I'd settle for one outdoors, just so I wouldn't have to bend over.

Elaine, is falling into the dishwasher like the time I salvaged a box of used office paper for my girls to color on, put it next to my desk ....and then proceeded to trip over it the next time I got up to do something? Flat on my face. In the office. Nothing like performing for an audience! Let's all be careful, we don't need a rerun of last year's trip and fall episodes.

Laurie, imagine one of those big five gallon buckets, tilted over and spillling blue and white flowers on the ground!! Would look like a waterfall. And I'm sure you could melt it yourself, if Mary and I can do it, anyone can. The initial requirement is just a small dose of CRS. DH says I should have used a heat gun. I said he might have mentioned that when I told him what I was going to do with the can.

Molly, good job for Lexie! Might need a personal harness though, Snowy is probably much more slender through the chest. I love my big garden cart, it doesn't bump my heels when I pull it like our old broken down cart did. DH just picked up two more of those big steel hose reels at Sam's, they even have a shelf on the bottom, and are high enough that you don't have to bend all the way down to crank them. I told him I saw them the other day, but he didn't go look until his buddy mentioned them. He bought a shirt there too. I looked at it, and didn't say anything, but it's not perm press and it's all cotton. Hope he enjoys ironing it. LOL

~~~ good morning to all, have to get off this chair and get my day started before my minimal enthusiasm for housework disappears altogether.
Later,
Sheila
Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)
Cure for ironing.....leave the iron at your old place when you move. Works for me.
Yes, I was thinking a harness would be good for Lexy, but Snowy is more slender around the chest, so we should either make one or buy one for Lexy. Better than pulling a garden cart from her neck. :^((( I forgot about that.
Molly
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
No time for chat right now, I am off to get my hair cut. I have read everything and will comment when I return.
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Hi All,
Looks like I didn't say anything when I peaked in earlier. Hope you are all doing well this morning.
I've been out to aquafit for the first time since Thursday due to cold and conflicts. Now back and working on my talk for tonight before heading in to FC to volunteer.
E-mail from successor at FC that the Ottawa Food Bank passed the resolution to help that upstart food program. I don't understand it. There is no need, but I have to be honest about worrying about the support we get from that local cummunity. The clients we serviced were a relatively small number of our clientele, but the support from that community was MUCH higher than the proprotion of people needing help. So losing that support could have a negative impact on the service we provide to the larger community.
In preparing my talk for the AGM tonight, I was struck by the amount of preparation that went into establishing the Food Cupboard. The committee met for a full year and had all details planned out before the program actually opened. With that kind of planning, is it any wonder that we've provided the best level of service in the region for the last 17 years? I think I need the 2 x 4 for the OFB's board which decided to serve the new program.
If you ladies go around melting those plastic buckets, just make sure you are in a well ventilated area. I wouldn't want to think about the gases they will give off in the process.
Gotta go. I haven't finished my talk.
Ann
Morning all
Oh my goodness ... Lauriwilson I do hope the carrot cake and cookies are done by now. That's just perfect with my coffee. LOL As for my little *trick* ... well, like I said that was back in the 80's. I was loading the dishwasher when the phone rang. We didn't have cordless phones back then, so I just stopped what I was doing and ran over and started talking. It was one of those *long* conversations and when I got off the phone I went back to the kitchen and forgot I had left the devilish thing opened. Don't know why I didn't close it ... but I didn't. Tripped over it and didn't have any way to catch myself so just sort of crumpled inside. LOL Not a pretty sight!! Had to drag myself back over to the phone and call my DH. Ended up having knee surgery. End of story!!LOL
sarv what a picture you painted ... had to LOL at your bathroom excursion. I've got mine trained in that department. The seat stays down. We only have problems when company comes. That's when I might *fall* in. LOL
Stacey, I wouldn't trade mine either. He's not the kind that says "that's your job" ... but will help with most things. I do most of the cooking and cleaning but he helps with the heavy stuff. Yep, I'll definitely keep him. Got *too* many years invested in training him! LOL
Molly sounds like things are coming right along down there. That will be neat if you can get harnesses made to fit the dogs. My girl does so love to work. :)
Hi Defoe ... hope your hair cut turns out beeauuutiful!!
Sheila, we really *do* have a lot in common. Your discription of the flowers spilling out of the bucket took my breath away. :) And your discription of your acrobatics made me giggle! LOL
Well, I've had a billion interruptions since I first started this post and am *not* going to preview. Will just wave as I'm sure others have checked in by now. Just know I'm saying hi and happy day to everyone!
~Elaine~
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)
Good morning. Sunny again here, oh goody!
"Coffee and aches and pains", boy oh boy, doesn't that discribe this bunch of GOBS. Add my backache to the list. I hope it is because the pelvis is staying in place this time. My neck made a loud pop when I turned my head this morning before I even got out of bed, I hope it was going the right way.
Elaine, LOL at falling into the dishwasher, that's like falling up the stairs, we know it's there but just don't pick up our feet, or think we are somewhere where we aren't.
Molly, next time you are at a farm store take a look at a horse halter to use for a dog harness. The dog's head and neck would go through the part where the horse's nose would go, the strap with the holes goes over the back from right to left and buckles on the side behind the front legs. Ropes or straps can be attatched at the side rings. You can often find used ones for a couple of dollars. Good idea putting the dog to work, she probably needs a job.
The melted bucket was hard to get off the furnace even with the furnace running. I have to look at it today and decide if it is usable. The melted plastic had gone all the way to the bottom of the furnace and out on to the greenhouse floor, so it will stink for a while. Peeeuuuu, melted plastic! The bucket has lots of long wiskers that will need to be trimmed off. I'll post another picture if I can make anything usable out of it. I was thinking that if a bucket with a lid was cut at the proper angle a person could make two planters. Of course the other half of mine is way beyond that, kind of like trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together.
Time to get moving. ~~~ to you, have a good day.
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
I had forgotten about Arnica! Thanks for the reminder. Apparently it's readily available on the internet, just do a search for arnica cream. Here's some info about benefits:
http://www.wholehealthmd.com/refshelf/substances_view/1,1525,753,00.html
M5, you are inspiring me to get my favorite chair recovered when I get settled down! It's an ugly chair but the most comfortable I've ever owned. Bought it at a yard sale over 20 years ago for $10. Just wish it had a hassock but maybe I'll make one before I have the chair re-upholstered.
Stacy, love the bench! Looks almost like the one I built for my workshop and it's so sturdy that it takes 2 strong men to move it.
Well, the Prison Bus was all the way to Knoxville by 10pm last night. Don't know where Bruce finally stopped for the night, but with a built-in bed, I imagine some rest stop. He plans to be home tonight so maybe tomorrow or Friday I'll drive up to Sanford (60 miles) to see it in person! He said the engine is in great shape, only 48,000 miles on it. AND, he did buy the conversion kit to use MacD's (and others') free waste french fry oil!
Update: Just had a call from my sister. Bruce called her @ 8:30 this AM and he was in Atlanta morning traffic. Should he home before 5pm.
BBL,
Hi to everyone!
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Hi again. Am back from having my hair cut, and it is a good one. My hairdresser for 12 years, justs asks, just want a shape up? And goes to work. She is quick too, appointment was at 10:30 and was in my car and heading home at 10:50. The only other stop was at the Thrift Bakery. This is day old bread, and honestly probably get bread older than that at the grocery.
The weather turned cooler last night. It is back to jeans and a long sleeved shirt today. It is supposed to hit the 60's but it is not there yet.
I am having a bad case of CRS today, so can't remember who said what, except someone was blaming me for something. Okay, I have broad shoulders, I can handle that. I think that was M5 about the hummingbird feeders. I saw one again this morning, so hope he sent an SOS to others in the area.
DH is planting some more garden. I volunteered to help, but he declined, citing my back. Sure glad that he did. Don't know what that bending would have done to it. I will try later to take some pics of what is in the garden now. i tried posting some azalea pictures and hosta pics the other day, and that was a day that there were problems here. So I will post them all at the same time.
Well, gonna do some quick pick up, then some prep for supper, fish again!!
I am sure since the sun is shining, just as soon as DH finishes in the garden, he will hit the lake again. The crappie are biting, and fishing fever has bit him too.
I will be back later.
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Lunch time - just downed a yogurt - but need something else!!
Went to the eye doc this morning - said the old 'eye balls' are in good shape, but my vision has gone considerably down hill - both far away and close up - I could have told him that!!
Then onto pick out new frames...hmmmm can't see a toot without my glasses on,so how can I pick out new ones? I rely on a hip looking gal that works in the office. She is a tad younger than I am, and I like how she looks. We started with about 30 pr -First one I tried on I thought I liked!! She helped me narrow it down and I gave her the final pick...got a pair that has a brown frame (I can't tell you how many brown pair I've had!!) Mine now are a burgundy - they were fine, but needed a change. You will never guess what they cost....649 bucks - highway robbery. My insurance will cover some of it, so I pay just over 300 - still highway robbery! Plus doc recommended some eye drops for my allergy/dried eyes- to the tune of $30 bucks and you have to use them twice a day. Sheesh...
The hip gal I was telling you about had the hair cut I want!! It was even shorter than mine, so I'm getting the scissors out and cutting mine shorter= GG I know you are cringing...but I think nothing of cutting into my locks!!
Still loading up the greenhouse- everything made it fine thru out freezing temps. I'm sure the elect bill will reflect the $$ used tho!
Can't wait to hear about the prison bus - make sure and post pics of it!!
Molly, I'm serious - you do need a tractor...I'd rather have that than a microwave!
Well, off to cut the hair a tad. ps - weatherman just said more frost tonight....oh, I did lose some sunset coneflower that I had planted out, but I have 10 more, so I'm ok!!
So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)
WARNING: Spitting Nails here!
Cannot get an appointment with my pulmonary doctor the week I can get to NC. Grrrrrr. Guess I shall have to get my primary physician back where I used to live to refer me to someone here in Kissimmee/Orlando or maybe closer to VA where we hope to move. Didn't like him much anyway, not sure he's old enough to shave.
Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)
Mary, that's a great idea about the halter. We have a feed and seed down in Archer, actually they are more common than McDonald's out here in the county.
Lexy got to go down and watch us plant 68 ditch lilies this morning. Not sure if she was hiding from work or from the garden hose. So silly, she's hiding behind the giant (not grown up yet) liriope. I can hardly see her, can you?
heehee
Yep, I said 68 ditch lilies. Mailman came today. The swale is coming along. By midsummer we will have a mass of purple and orange flowers.
Thumbnail by MollyMc
Wow Molly ... that's a *lot* of lilies!!
Sorry about your appointment Darius. Know what you mean ... most of them don't look old enough to shave these days. LOL
Just got off the phone with Defoe. That girl *knows* her flowers! LOL She always helps me with my gardening dilemmas and projects. Thanks Defoe!
Well, here it is 2:00 and I haven't accomplished anything except for repotting some 4 o'clocks and the usual morning routine stuff. Guess I better figure out what we're having for supper and take it outta the freezer.
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
I have used Arnica cream for a long time, used on my self and my husband. I find it really helps for a temporary relief of any kind of pain,
My children use it too, they would not want to be without it. I get it in the drugstore, even some food market carrry it.
Off now to cook dinner for my children
Maria, don't forget to post your menu soas I can drool, please!! LOL Hugs to you and Samson!
~Elaine~
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Ah, clever puppy, ingenious disguise, no one will ever spot Lexy hidden like that!
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Dinner time!! DH just made 'mulligan stew' - it was nothing that looked good to me, but I had a bowl and wonder of all wonders - I had seconds!! It was tasty!!
My gardening neighbor and I went on an adventure - we got coupons off for several greenhouses and decided that today was the day to use them - man, I came home with another trunk full!! Oh it was so much fun. We went to one greenhouse and it was drop dead gorgeous - pricey- but we had a 20% coupon on our entire order. Directly across the road was a run down greenhouse (another coupon!), so we stopped there. They had tons of 1.29 starter perennials - now I just cannot pass them up!! I loaded up!! The help was poor looking, the clerk didn't know how to do the 15% off we had there, so she went and got the owner. Here comes this enormous man, shaggy hair, and big smile. He was so nice...(his pants were unzipped tho LOL) I'd rather give my business to them...
Darius - I know what you mean about the 'youngster's doing doctoring....it is a little scarey... Stinko that you cannot get in when you want. I'd get someone closer...
Maria- what's for dinner tonight?? I need dessert - ice cream is all gone LOL (and so are the oreos)
Gotta go write down the names of the new plants I got - oh life is good!!
Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)
Doggonit, it didn't rain today. Stayed cloudy half the day, then the sun came out. What a disappointment, not only did I want rain for the garden, I wanted to come in and sit on my behind and do some drawings and get the papers filled out for my permits.
Well, it didn't rain so I transplanted some wild flowers from by the road up to my native flower bed. Watered, trimmed and pruned some things needing attention and kept coming back in here to pick out some more stuff in the co-ops.
Darius had given me a pack of Messenger so I took it and used it around on my roses and some other things until the gallon ran out. I missed that coop. It was opened and closed so fast. I was sneezing and missed it.
Did I show you what I was going to build on the front of my house? I call it the orchid house, even tho I only have 3 orchids. It will actually be my front porch area, but on the ground. I will be putting plastic panels on the roof for protection from rain, part opaque, part transparent. In the winter time I can roll plastic down to let this serve as my greenhouse. Being right by the house, on the south side, with the earth not floored in, we should be able to retain some natural heat in there for plants and to warm the house as well. Tonight I should get the paperwork ready, get the permit applied for and supplies ordered by early next week.
Oooo Molly, what a nice addition a room like that will be! Be sure to make it big enough to use as a shaded patio for people. It would be a great place for drinking ice tea on a hot afternoon or having dinner. You'll paint it green, right? to match the house. I've only got 3 orchids, but hadn't thought about calling my greenhouse the Orchid House.
I've spent most of the afternoon puttering around in the greenhouse, watering, repotting things, dumping some casualties, and just enjoying the plants. At first I was too hot out there but then the sun went missing behind clouds and it was just right. At 4pm I realized I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I came inside to eat some yogurt and applesauce mixed together. Soon it will be time to start dinner, so I didn't want to eat too much. We're having halibut, baked potatoes, and green salad.
AmandaPanda kitty is sleeping in my lap, one of her rare lovie moments. I hate to disturb her when she is being a good kitty, so I will sit and visit a bit longer. Kitty anchors are quite effective for their small size.
Sarv, it does sound like you had a fun day. Do you have places to plant all the new plants?
I've got the melted bucket trimmed and it's in the kitchen sink for a bath. Get it clean, then put dirt in it. Really it's the honey residue that I want to wash out of it so it doesn't attract ants.
Ok, kitty's nap is over.
well too many days to be able to catch up --- actually thinking I should bow out of coffee poor me. Never seem to be able to get in and catch up with all here. I want to be able to comment and be apart but miss a few days and poof I am lost.
Well know that I think of you all waving furiously~~~~~ to everyone and cannot comment on much nor able to catch up.
But know that while busy with all the volunteer stuff you are all not far from my thoughts!
Anne
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
Just finished dinner, sorry, Sarv, Dessert was fruit consisting of Mango with lime juice and topped with sugared strawberries, no ice cream or whipped cream, lol,
Made a leek-ptatoe soup baked corninsh hens on a bed of onions, all kinds of fresh herbs, covered with a garlick and ginger (fresh) sauce Broccolini with grated gruere cheese and sweet potatoes.
Now all I have to do is clean the dishes.
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Oh Maria - that dinner sounds so delicious...I've never had potato leek soup...Don't worry about dessert- I just found some ice cream in the freezer- I had it with cheapo choco. I'm getting desperate. Your fruit sounds delightful!
Oh, friends, I need help with something. I am leaving on a three day trip several hundred of miles from home. IF I have a flat tire/car problems way out in the boonies (I'll be on the highway most of the time) - how do I get help? I have a cell phone - do I call 911? Is a flat tire considered an emergency? Traveling alone has never bothered me before - must be an age thing!! DH has been trying to tell me HOW to change a tire- I finally told him I wasn't going to change any tire alongside the road- he's in a snit now LOL
Mary. I don't have room for all these new things- I tend buy too much and cram things in with no rhyme or reason...that's me!!
Mago - don't you dare bow out of coffee....shame on you for thinking we'd let you!! So what if you don't get here daily...we love ya anyhow!! When you do get here, just tell us what you've been doing!!
I'm so mad at myself- I wanted to get in on the heuchara co-op going on, so I took the list of oferings to the garden places so I could see them in 'real'- came home with my order only to find it had been closed....darn - day late and a dollar short.
I"m not doing dishes tonight (didn't do them last night either!!) There's always tomorrow...
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
Sarv, don't see why your husband should be in a snit about you not changing tires, mine did not even bother to teach me, he new I would never doit, now I just call AAA, they come and fix it., you do belong to it I hope???
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
Maria- we don't belong to AAA - just have road service with our insurance. I used to think someone would stop, but with the crazies on the road today, I am not sure I would want that!! My cousin's wife is going along with me, so I won't be totally alone - but she is older than I am. You know me, - always thinking the worse will happen!!
Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)
Sarv what about Les Schwab Tire Shops?? Do you have them there? They will provide roadside tire changes, as they have for me. Or even a tow company but I don't know how much it will cost that way...Lauri
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
lauri - the problem is that I am going 300 miles and dont know what stores are where, much less how to contact them. I was just thinking I would punch in 911, but DH said that was for 'real' emergencies..well it would be an emergency to me!
Starkville, MS
Tis the season!!!! After being out in the gardens all morning, this afternoon I felt that familiar feeling - a quick peek, and, yes - a TICK IN MY BELLY BUTTON!!!! Not a big deal really. Just one of the tiny ones that don't carry any nasty things. Just leave me with an itchy spot that will last for about three weeks.
sarv - many highways have signs posting emergency numbers. Just be on the lookout for them and make note of the number. Or call your local highway patrol office to get the number. If you cross a state line, be sure to get the number for each state you will travel in.
Maria - I'll do the dishes for you if I can have some of that wonder meal.
Well, I best get a shower and check for any other unwanted freeloaders!. Sweet dreams to all.
~~~~ing to all - angel food cake and strawberries are on the counter (and, yes whipped cream!)
ginni

Oh Maria ... I *knew* that meal would be wonderful!

Sarv, oh my what a *day* you had. LOL Sorry no words of wisdom on the trip. I'd call 911 but then my DH works there! LOL

Anne ... you *absolutely* cannot leave coffee. Just do like sarve said and drop by when you can and keep us informed as to what's going on with you. :)

Mary ... your supper sounded wonderful also. I love halibutt.

We tried a new barbecue restaurant tonight which turned out to be okay. I got a little ticked off right to start with when the DH ordered water and they handed over a little bottle and charged him a dollar. Heavens ... what is this world coming to when you have to start paying for water in a restaurant! LOL I'm not talking classie here ... it was order at the counter and clean up your own table type of thing!!

We got a couple of nice showers today, so all my plants are singing again. LOL I put a bucket out to catch some extra to water with as I have some things under the carport and in the house ... and there's just no water like God's. :) Speaking of that ... I'll go give those a drink! :-)

NO-NO-NO Magoobu/Anne, Responding to each and every post isn't a requirement as far as I know. If it is then I'm as delinquent as anyone. Reading all the posts, as often as I can, is one of the highlight of the day. You would be sorely missed if you left so please don't even think of it.

All of the 120 + seed packs are either sown or awaiting the next section of doggie fence to be installed.(this week ?) Have a dozen Celosias to finish putting in around the fountain. Removed a couple big plants, a pickup load of rock, sifted the ashes in the fire-pit through two screens and weeded some 10 sf of overgrown side-yard. That's all I can remember, but from the aches there must have been more ! It has been a busy week.

I'd sure like to have initiative for making dinner tonight. All I can think of now is brotwurst, corn on the cob, either beans or chili and some tomato/cucumber/avocado. It'll fill the bill though, and some of last years frozen strawberries over french vanilla ice cream.

Molly, your garden is amazing, and the orchid house sounds great.

DW is due home anytime now so I better get with it.
