Coffee and...For Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, 2006 =^..^=
Good early Morning all. Maria and I are awake, chatting away on IM - so glad she is up to keep me company.
The weather is fantastic with heavy rain called for tomorrow.We need the rain desperately so will not complain. Our township already has a total burn ban in effect. Yikes! Bet the volunteer firemen will be busy - the trucks went out 4 different times today. I have just the utmost praise for these volunteer fireman - we are so lucky to have them.
Time to go take the Cranberry,Walnut Oatmeal cookies out of the oven - help yourself everyone.
Dianne
Can't sleep!! After tossing and turning for hours, I got my hinney outta bed. Pass me a cookie- that should make me smile!
I weeded so much yesterday, that my hands/fingers etc are stained with dirt and dry and rough. So much for being a lady (and I had gloves on- most of the time)
I have a huge hosta bed and the hostas are finally maturing and getting huge. How ever that means that they will be covering each other, so I need to dig some out and move them. Gardening is never ending... Also need to do a little research and see which ones can stand some sun - since the pine grove I had them in is dying. We took down 5 trees this winter and have 3 more than will need to come down. Sad to see them go - beds were gorgeous...oh well, life goes on.
I am potting up dahlia tubers in my mainfloor kitchen and you should see the mess!! Dirt, tubers, pots --- all over!! Every year I tell myself to do it out in the barn, but I never get around to lugging my stuff out there. Just more convenient to do them in the house. Good thing DH is easy going- he never says a word about my garden messes.
Gonna do a little reading and then the sukoku and the crossword. Maybe my eyes will shut for awhile....
101----- I leaft a note for you over on the thread you started in hosta Forum. I reseached your plant a bit for you and the real name is PLANTAGINIE.
I'm elbowing in - I've been on the Upper Midwest Coffee chat, but it seems to be deserted lately.
I took a hookey day from work yesterday, and spent nearly the whole day outside. I've started digging out a bed that I haven't worked on yet, and have the plants on order to fill it. I have a lot on my to-do list for spring, and it feels good to be getting started on it.
Stacy
Good morning, all! See? Morning would have been fine for the new link, as you are all still snoozing except Sarv and Oz. I'll pass on the pie, but surely will have a cookie! Will post more later, going to stick my nose back in that book I started yesterday and see if I can finish it.
Later!
Sheila
P.s. Oops, Hi Stacy...LOL

I was up really early, too, but that's pretty usual for me. If I'm still in bed at 6:00 you'd better check my pulse.
I was up early as well, as usual, but it's not safe for me to talk until I have had my second cup of coffee.
We have a 60% chance of rain today. I think it might have rained while I slept because when I took my morning walk, everything is moist. I hope that wasn't it. The gardens always do so much better when it rains during the day.
I'm going to TRY to get up to the veggie bed and thin out those carrots. The sugar snap peas are make peas and flowers. I pushed them over to the fence so they could climb some.
I put in an entire flat of seeds yesterday. They were special seeds I want to keep a close eye on.
I'm thinking I want to put some caster beans and coral bush beans into some pots to start now that the evenings are warming up.
Well, my good intentions better get out there and beat the rain.

:^)))
Morning all, Trying to get the fingers to work they are sooo stiff and sore after yesterday and 3 knuckles are beet red. I got another 45 plants in the ground and only about 50 more to go and then I found my potted stash on the front porch so have to add those to the *to be planted* list too. LOL note to self...you do not have to keep every flower seed that sprouts!!
Howard, DS, is doing great now still has a couple of spots that are tender when poked but his appetite is back and going strong. He is waiting for the insurance co to get things in to them and settled so he can pay all the bills.
Salsa is grumpy, he is tired of being locked into his corral and just looking at the grass in the field. I've been cheating and walking him out twice a day to graze on lead close to the corral. The old neighbor and I got into it yesterday, he thinks I should have had him put down since he is no good to ride anymore and is in pain (not) and I asked him why I should have one of God's creatures put down just because he is no longer any good to me to ride when he can just live out his golden years here?? As it was not his fault he was ridden into the ground as a youngster... He had no answer.
~~~~to all and will check back in later going to soak hands in the sink and do dishes at the same time.....Hugs...Lauri
Today or tomorrow I am moving out of my house for at least 2 weeks while rehab work is being done.In case I haven't explained, my county got grant money for a "Block Grant" type of rehabilitation, except this is a "scattered site" project.
We qualified because my husband's disability caused our income to be low enough.
Here is what they are going to do: New roof, new ceilings, 2 new walls in every room ( the others are the old-time really nice knotty pine), all new windows, new interior doors, a lot of plumbing repairs, new kitchen sink and counter top and upper cabinets, new sink in master bath, new toilet, sink & vanity in 1/2 bath, 2 storm doors, new hot water heater, new heating and a/c, extra support under the house, and new trim. Whew! that's all I can think of right now.
There is a company called Benchmark that administrates all these grants for the various federal, state and local governments and I have met with them twice. They were the sweetest and most wonderful people to deal with and very happy about the contractor that won the bid. One of the Benchmark employees will be here about twice a week to examine progress and of course, I will probably be here daily.
Wow - that's a lot of work to have done! It'll be great when it's finished.
Hi again!! Cloudy and raw here, which is kind of a relief so I can stay in!
I'll attach photos of the deck furniture. Since we are in the Adirondacks, about 10 years ago I bought Adirondack furniture (not from China). I try to keep it painted so it lasts. For some reason it NEEDED to be turquoise, right from day one. I like the color combined with the sky color and the purplish of the mountains. (I never said I wasn't weird, especially about colors!)
That took about 8 hours (there's also a loveseat, rocker, etc). Then I went back to planting delphiniums (4 dozen) and hollyhocks (4 dozen), trumpet lilies, and moving monarda and Siberian iris to the wildflower gardens.
Argh! i'm filthy, sore, and striped with turquoise paint!!
Oh, I just love the colour! and the view is spectacular!! ...location envy big time here! :)
So foggy I can barely see 2 blocks down the street, guess I better leave early for work.
Got a not so good situation going on here with the kiddos - not sure how much to share, it hurts quite a bit but I think I will share - u know the old saying, hurts shared are halved, or something like that? Kandyce decided she no longer wants DS and also doesn't want her baby, SO, last night he packed everything up, plus the baby and came home. Oh my, since I have to work, the baby is at the neighbor's who watched her the past month. The 21 yr old daughter there is caring for her until her parents get home from KC MO tomorrow. Then we will have a strategy session, what to do, how to keep Social Services out, etc. Our goal is to keep Kayleigh with people she has known from birth and also allow Kandyce time to grow up and hopefully come to her senses and return to her baby. Kandyce has been through a lot and is making bad choices right now. She plans to move in with a known heavy drug user, a co-worker of DS. Yeah, a lot of hurts goin' around here. Pray for her please. Gotta stop now, can't see thru the tears and gotta get ready for work. luv u all!
Note to self: copy this so if it flies away I can paste!
Did I ask for overnight rain? We got it, and the sun is shining now after the fog lifted. Looks like we got a good amount too.
Elaine, sorry to hear you injured your ankle at your luncheon...who dumped the tea? You'd think they were the ones who can't see!! Kind of spoils an outing when something like that happens, but at least you got to finish your meal! Being on aspirin therapy for my heart, I bleed like a stuck pig even from a little nick. Caught a rose thorn yesterday and bled right through the glove! (Yeah, I know, nobody can believe I actually put gloves on....)
Darius, too bad the popup didn't work out. This is the season here to see all kinds of recreational items on sale along side the road, popups, snowmobiles, etc. Guess people upgrade for the new season or try to unload from the old. Something may turn up if you keep your eyes peeled. Rummage sales are starting here soon, too. I'm always looking for garden ornaments, big pots, etc.
Dmcd, what a day you put in! 12 hours...if I did that they would need to rent a crane to get me out of bed the next day. Your Adirondack furniture looks perfect , that is a huge job, all those sides and unders to cover, like painting a picket fence! You deserve to take a day off!
Dcat, you had a busy day too. You inspired me to hang out the hummingbird feeder, I've already got the sugar so I might as well. Maybe that poor little guy from last year will show up again. I started reading a book I got from my DIL before dinner last night, and couldn't drag myself away from it until 11: Since we made the switch to DST, I get really sleepy around 9, which is ridiculous. I did get 8 straight hours the other night, which is very unusual. I usually wake up a couple of times, but no matter what time I go to sleep, I wake up at 5:30 or 6:00. Sounds like a trip to Reno with your DS will be just the thing in August! I have to go gather up seeds from all the drawers shelves, etc. too. I usually manage to overlook some and find them in the fall. Plus I found a box in the garage with more phlox in it. Can't even remember when I bought it except it had to be after I cleaned it.
Mags, good to see you again. Glad to hear you are trying to keep up, it's not easy!
Ann, hope your cold is better so you can enjoy the birthday celebration today. And you have sunshine to go with it.
Dianne, we had rain overnight and supposed to have more this weekend. We really need it, but so far it's not so dry that we have fire watches and warnings.
Sarv, can you believe I tried to get buttercups to grow in my black walnut corner, just to have a little color? They croaked. They don't do well down here, up north they grow alongside the roads like grass. We need to divide or move some of our plain old hosta this year too, but we are still filling in bare spots here and there so they will be put to good use.
Laurie, Sarv, and all the rest of you with dirt embedded skin, broken nails, scraped knuckles, etc., 'tis the season! and Poor Salsa, he's as eager to get out and play as we are! I agree, keep him as long as he can eat and enjoy life. Ask your neighbor if he wants to be put down when he's no longer useful....bet he'll say. oh well that's different!!
WS, sound like major project, walls, windows doors, glad to see the tax dollars going for something useful for a change!! Do you think they will get it done in two weeks? It's good you can be there on the spot while they are working. We want before and after pics!!
Stacy, the problem with being retired is you don't get to play hooky, or take a Mental Health day....but isn't it fun to do it!!
~~~~ at anyone I haven't mentiioned, gotta get decent and hit the gardens while the soil is still wet enough to pull weeds! Boy, do I have healthy weeds!!!
Sheila
Good morning everyone! :-D
Thought I needed to get "my butt back in here" (Hi SARV!! :-)) and say thanks for the "Hi Julie" posts from you guys.
I'm getting back into gardening mode and loving the fact that I worked my arse off last year because *now* the results are evident. That's not to say that I'm finished by a long shot, but at least I'm not looking bare ground.
Yesterday I joined you guys out in the yard with the planting, dividing and began my attack on the weeds. I had a GOOD day...then it rained. :-)
I'm not reading the Daily in depth yet, so hope you'll all forgive me for not responding to everyone right now.
It sure is good to see several people looking out for the Coffee group and jumping in there to start a new thread. YEAH!!! It's a community and it's great to see it working!
Y'all have a great day...and don't work TOO hard.
~julie~
Sorry Kooger missed your post. What a sad situation. It's not unusual for patients who have had major surgery to do nutso stuff afterwards. I hope she comes to her senses, and matures enough to take care of her responsibilities. Feel free to vent. Young people are so careless of the feelings of their families and friends when they are thinking only of self. They just leave messes for others to clean up.
Good morning
Can't sit here long but wanted to stop by and say hi on my way by the coffee pot. Oh wow ... I took a couple cookies. thanks Dianne. You're a sweetie to keep the counter filled with great cyber treats.
Hi Stacey! Great to see you. No point in being by yourself. This is a gabby group, so just join us! LOL
dmc, love those chairs ... and the colors, too! I love bright and pretty colors!
oz, thanks so much for the info you found on my hosta. These are a special gift and I don't want to kill them. I didn't have much info to go on. That was a *big* help!
Well, forgive me for not responding to each individual post. Will just wave to everyone for now. Times a wasting!! LOL
~E~
Prayers for Kandyce......(((hugs))) for Kooger....sympathy for DS. The baby is so fortunate to be surrounded by loving family.
This is such a rocky road to travel, but we all have broad shoulders and it helps to get over the worst bumps if you have a place to share your hurt.
(((hugs))) again,
Pati
Ah, Laura (kooger), do you wonder why stuff keeps piling up on you? I suspect it's to show you how strong you really are!
dmc, LOVE the color and the view. A friend has fake adirondack and it's very uncomfortable.
dcat, still wonder how you do all that you do!
Today is a work day in the garage to re-box and label all my stuff we moved here and make paths through the garage. Also hope to get my art deco railings listed on ebay.
BBL
Back with a big bowl of oatmeal to read some more...
Kooger-my heart aches for you and DS and all involved, especially the baby. Kandyce is pretty young isn't she? I think it's a lot of turbulence to be a single mom and then with the surgery, and it doesn't seem she comes from a supportive family if they haven't been there for her through the surgery. Who knows what the trauma, medications, etc have done to trigger this. I too hope she comes to her senses and agree she's VERY LUCKY to have you. no matter what, she and especially the baby, need some stability and time to recover. you will all be in my prayers....
Lauri- I give you tons of credit and prayers too, I'm glad you're letting Salsa have a chance to enjoy some golden years. I do not think you would keep him in pain or misery - I agree maybe you should ask the neighbor if he'd like to be "put down"!!
dcat-While I was painting chairs I was thinking, who do you think you are being so busy every day, Bonnie? LOL (or Ann but I didn't do anything musical!!)
Ann-I hope you're getting better!
Sounds like we all have achey fingers and backs from weeding, but isn't it great?
Just popping in to say hi, have to get to the post office, so will be back later to chat.
I'm back from the soccer game- sitting in the cold rain in not my cup of tea....but I stayed the entire time (good GM that I am!!) DH is off fishing with other DS - in the rain too and without a raincoat. I told him to take one, but you know how they listen!!
Kooger - yuck, going thru a bumpy spot in life - don't worry, we've all been there- life goes on and somehow things work out. It always helps me to know that I'm not the only one in the world having problems. Hang in there - we're here for ya! Wonder what couples with no kids worry about?
Julie - I had to reread your post - I thought you had lost major weight....gardening... don't we all wish...LOL I just planted some moonflowers-
was it you or M5 that had a glorious bunch of them last year? Anyhow, mine haven't sprouted yet, despite me talking sweeting nothings to them.
dm - nice chairs! I have the fake cheap plastic ones....not comfortable, but I like the looks of them...DH has managed to sit in most of them and crack the seat. I could just kick him sometimes!! Then he complains about how cheap they are!! I've had them so long that they are brittle. I should get a real wood one
wood-...that is some remodeling job - you'll have a new house when it is all done. Where will you move to while the work is being done? We need new windows, but DH thinks they are fine. Todays project is two new storm doors. If you see smoke coming from Michigan, you will know a battle is going on...
laurie - thumb your nose at the neighbor- sheesh - it's none of his business. Hate people butting in...he must have been not listening when the 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything' lesson.
sstate - pull up chair....I am an early riser too - just love mornings...Good for you for playing hookey...is it time to make it permanent?? I lurk on the Upper Midwest forum too....
Would you believe the sun just popped out!! I'm listening on the radio to my favorite gardening program, so I may just sign off and pot up some more dahlias!! Take care everyone!
Good morning all,
I don't think I've a prayer of catching up, but I'll try. I thought you were all gonna sleep in this morning.
I've still got the cold - it's a dandy. Didn't do anything yesterday except work at the computer and go out once. I post a pic of my car and my NEW indulgence - vanity plates [my old plates were probably 12 yrs old and getting quite rusty] . They came yesterday and I went out to get them activated and installed. But as far as getting anything useful done, no. I spent the evening watching TV and tyeing in ends of afghan pieces. Even cancelled out on attending a practice of one of my students and his accompanist for the Kiwanis Music Festival. Told them I didn't really want to share the cold. (Hope I haven't already shared it too much around my bell choir - I need tham ALL next Sunday[30th] both to play in church and to play for a massed bell concert in the evening.) I'll try to get the rest of my seeds planted today. As to whether I join the family to celebrate DD's birthday which was yesterday, that remains to be seen. I'll see how I feel a bit later.
Sarv, if you know which of your hostas are too big, at this time of year, you can just take a spade and cut the clump. Check out the Hosta forum. Last summer we compiled a long list of sun tolerant hostas.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/546052/
I do my potting mostly in the porch but it's on the floor. I think I'm too old and will bring the rest into the kitchen. But my DH will probably complain. LOL
Welcome Stacy. Dunno how there's time to do more than one coffee. Just this one is a challenge to keep up with.
dmc - funny how some things NEED to be certain colors. We have the same furniture up here, but here they call it Muskoka furniture. I suspect Adirondack was first though. But maybe 'cause I spent my first 9 formative years living in the Adirondacks.
Kooger, sad to say, but it sounds as though Kandyce has some serious growing up to do. prayers for all of you and especially Kayleigh who's caught in the middle of it. I hope you are able to resolve everything, but I don't expect it's going to be easy.
Sheila, actually it's raining here, but we need it. It's been glorious all week, but gardens are dry.
Hi Julie - nice to have you stop by.
Lauri - Salsa is certainly lucky to have landed with you. Glad you're able to cheat a bit with him on the walks. Ignore the neighbour.
I'll drop by later.
Ann
sstateham, I forgot that they are going to replace my old 50 amp fuse system with a 200 amp circuit breaker system and lots more outlets! What a relief! You wouldn't believe how many extension cords and power strips I have here.
dmcdevitt, my dream room would be turquoise, purple, a golden yellow and coral. How's that for crazy colors?
kooger, yes it hurts, but how wonderful that DS has the baby instead of Kandyce. Things could be worse that living in an extended household; I just hope you have the room and the patience.
M5, they said two weeks but I told my boss that it would probably be three weeks. This trailer is about to be hauled off the cemetery property and I had to give him some idea of when we'd be out. I am still boxing things and trying to decide where to put them as they are going to be working all over the house.
I am finally getting rain too, and glad of it, although it's making moving a bit harder...
wow all are busy today! raining here something awful - had my son's Tball opening day so it was a bummer. Just got their uniforms and took pictures not outside activities!
So we rented movies and just hanging out it is really icky out!
Hope all are having better weather and more fun today ~~~ waving to you all. Will pop back to check in later
Anne
dmc - love the color of the furniture! You're right - it goes with the sky.
woodspirit - congrats on the new electrical! I have some wiring projects here to do, but it's been to nice outside. I picked up a new bathroom vent-heater at work the other day to replace the busted one in the master bathroom, but it's still in the trunk of my car. I need a rainy day to get something other than gardening done!
They had called for rain this morning, but so far nothing yet. I've been out working my heiney off splitting hostas and pulling garlic mustard. I've decided that 20 years or so from now I may just be rid of the stuff. On the up side, it seems like each time I clear a patch, I find more natives. There's a lot of trillium, may apples, and solomon seal out there already. I found a good sized patch of fawn lily last weeked, and then today I found this.... not a clue what it is, but I posted it in the indiginous plants forum, so I'm hoping for an id
It's raining!!!!!!!!! Isn't it wonderful? It won't last long since this front is passing pretty fast. But lots of water for the gardens.
I just finished distributing the last of the alfalfa tea in the veggie garden, very diluted. But they needed it and the rain is here to help spread it some more.
I put in a few tree seeds before all that, got the sweet potato slips planted and a few other odd things.
I'm going to go look at this wonder out the window now.
Molly
:^)))
Not sure what's going on with me lately but tried to post again earlier. Just copied and saved so here it is again. Late and old as usual! *sigh*

Just popped back in to say
{{{Kooger and family}}}
Ann, hope you start feeling better as the day wears on and get to go to the party. :)
We're getting some much needed rain right now. the plants are just lovin it! I think I heard my maters singing! LOL
Okay, got errands. Will check later!
~Elaine~
Like I said ... it's all a couple of hours old, but hey ... didn't want that typing to go to waste! LOL
Rain??????????????
I don't know what that is. Been too long..........
:-(
Susan
=^..^=
It's raining here too, and 42 degrees, pretty raw. Got the fire cranked up in the woodstove. A friend is bringing over dinner tonight- Wiener Schnitzel...yum. She's German, and cooks wonderful German food.....lucky us.
Horses are tucked in early, kitty who has not come indoors in 4 days is firmly parked on my pillow...feels like winter again, but the delphiniums will love it. I have peas up too, beets, lettuce, carrots coming.
Woodspirit, Hooray! I remember last year when I visited in your house that you told me you were applying for the repair grant. SO glad you got it!
We've been searching the Internet all day looking at properties in SW Virginia. Have actually located more than a few in our price range! (Can you believe 2 bungalows on 32 acres with a pond and stream for under $100K?)
Just in from a long day outside. It doesn't look like we accomplished much but in total I would say we did well. Pulled lots of weeds. Got to the point where I could hardly straighten up anymore, and then the wind came up and it started to rain! I hollered at DH, " OH GOOD! IT"S RAINING >>>WE CAN QUIT!!!" I sure don't have the endurance I used to have. Looks like a pain pill evening! Not making dinner either...heading for the chinese buffet. DH doesn't know that yet. I planned on spare ribs, but it's too late now, so they'll be for tomorrow.
Nice plates, Ann! You get 8 character spaces, we only get 7. I might change mine, DH and I spotted a BMW up the road, with a for sale sign on it...gonna check it out. My car needs lots of little work, it's leaking oil, so gaskets, and all kinds of other things that DH can do, but isn't real enthusiastic about it. More fun to work on his cars!
Elaine, what are your 'maters singing? Pizza my Heart? Raindrops keep Falling on my Head? Sorry...had to do it ...LOL
Darius, two bungalows on the same property, sounds ideal! Living together but not in each other's pockets. When you go look at them why not start a househunting thread so you can post photos for us!!
My email decided to give up the ghost last Sunday. DH's and DIL use the same site for email and theirs came up right away. Mine appears to have been trashed for some reason, and in spite of numerous messages to the site requesting help, I'm getting no response. Must have done it to a lot of people. Sooooo, I set up a new one but now I have to change all my Ebay,paypal, etc. which is a big PITA. And redo my mailing list, and let everyone know. Bleahhhh!
Now the sun came out again, everything is so green! Not going back out there, I'm done for the day. Will check in later this evening and set up the link for tomorrow.
Sheila
Hurray Darius! You go girl!!
It's stopped raining now, but it cooled it down a bit. Had to change into my jeans. Temp is 78 degrees here. Susan, watch your door. am sending you some rain UPS!! LOL (you know I would if I could ;-))
Woodspirit~ that's just marvelous about the grant for your house. Sounds like it will be almost new when they finish. It's wonderful that you qualified for the grant. I just love it when I know good things are actually happening to nice people!
Well, got the errands taken care of. Went to Sam's, Walmart and the vegetable stand. Bought some fresh white asparagus, more English peas, squash, Vidalia onions and some tomatoes. Won't be buying tomatoes much longer, I hope!
dmc~ oooh, how lucky you are! I've only had Wiener Schnitzel once in my life but it sure was good. Had it at a little German restaurant. Bet it would be excellent prepared by a friend.
Well, need to get in the kitchen. Have a beef roast on for tomorrow after church and am baking a ham for the week. Will eat some of that warm when it comes out. I do love it warm! The DH likes his ham sandwiches, though.
Bye for now.
~Elaine~
The contractor arrived with a huge school bus that he uses for a shop. We had to make some small corrections to the repair list and I had to pick out the soffitt color and guttering. Since my house is dark, I chose white soffitts to reflect some light into the house. I will paint the house the same color it is now (yellow) and also painted the greenhouse that color but the trim will be terra cotta, like the greenhouse, instead of brown.
John and I made a run to town to move some of our stuff. I came home and packed up more and will finish the dishes and food tomorrow.
OH a terrible thing happened right before the contractor came. I bit into a piece of hard chocolate and broke out both the front teeth in my denture. I was so horrified that I had to meet and talk with this man looking like a cretin that I made John go out to talk to the contractor when he arrived and explain to him. It was all I could do to talk to the contractor without covering my mouth. I don't even take my denture out when I go to bed!
After he took measurements he left and we went straight to a near-by building supply and he bought a good super glue. John had it repaired in minutes and it is holding up even though I have since eaten supper.
I hope it just holds up until after the 3rd of the month when I will be looking for a denture clinic to replace it.
We came home exhausted but have another day to face of moving tomorrow. Then I have to work Monday morning, dash the 20 miles back to the house to see if there is anything else they need me to do and dash back to town to prepare for a 4 p.m. meet. Gad! This will keep up until the rehab is finished and the archives moves into the library on May 9. Eeeeeek!
Hi all,
kooger, so sorry all that trouble has landed on your doorstep. I hope things work out for the best eventually.
darius, that's amazing! Around here you'd be lucky to get half a house on a postage stamp sized lot for that amount. Happy house hunting!
dmcd, you're right. You painted that furniture the perfect color to harmonize with the surroundings.
It's been a bit raw outside here too ---- with a few sprinkles of rain so far. We're supposed to get more for the next two days or so. The plants should be happy and it's really still too early for me to put all that much out in the garden anyway. Guess I'll concentrate on transplanting from the starter trays to peat pots this weekend.
Woodspirit, congrats on the grant, just make sure you don't wear yourself out during all of this. Your schedule sounds insane.
Hi to Bonnie, 101, M5, Susan, Molly, Oz, lauri, sstateham, pati, sarv, Vi-ann (nice vanity plates!), mags, julie, and Dianne. If I forgot anyone, please forgive me. I'm about to head upstairs to bed, early as it is. DH's crazy work schedule is taking its toll on me as well. I always wake up when he comes in around 2:30 AM and am not getting quite enough sleep lately. Hope everyone has a restful night.
Wow, what a surprise. When I posted this afternoon I got that dreaded page not found error and thought my post hadn't gone through. Got aggrivated and decided maybe it was my puter as no one else had mentioned having problems lately so decided to do some defrag, etc. Came back to see my post made it afterall!
Wood, ahg ... so sorry about the dentures! That's the pits! You certainly didn't need that on top of everything else!
ViAnn, were you able to go to the birthday party? Sure hope so, as I am wanting you feeling better.
I talked to Maria today. Couldn't stand not hearing from her so gave her a call. Actually, I talked to her *and* Samson! LOL He's jealous of the phone and has to give his two cents worth!
Well, I need to get my bath as tomorrow is a Church day and will need to get in bed a bit earlier than usual. Last week I stayed up way too late. It sure made it difficult to crawl out of bed! :)
Hugs and a good night to all.

Ouch! WS, what a disaster! I live in fear of mine cracking as I am always crunching or biting on hard (tasty) foods! I cracked the palate on my first one! Had to pay for a new base $400, but what can you do without them?
Setting up the link for tomorrow, hope it works better than today's did.

Hey everybody, I didn't get back as promised!! Did you notice? This is one of those "life happened" days. When I got back from the post office and bank, changed into ratty gardening clothes and went outside to tackle the weeds. After about a half hour, weeding and raking in one flower bed, my back decided that it didn't want to cooperate. Hey, I didn't argue with it. So back inside, did a load of laundry, puttered about in the kitchen, took a nap, and then showered and went out to a new steak house to eat. It was good but pricey. We went early, then DH wanted me to go fishing with him. So, went to a nice lake that he fishes a lot. Didn't catch a thing. I told him that I thought that he had been going buying all those fish, and just telling me that he caught them!!
Well, everybody was really busy today, and those who needed rain got it, however, nobody needs colder weather, so sorry about that. Welcome to a newbie, Hi Stacey, Darius, hope you get some nice leads on properties, that 2 bungalow one sounds good. Kooger, sorry for the family problems, hope that they can be resolved without too much turmoil. McCool, those work schedules can disrupt every thing. How are you feeling? Viann, hope that the cold gets better. Loved the vanity plates. M5, sounds like a hard day, Sarv, sitting out in yukky weather, thanks I did my turn with DS when he played football. woodspirit, my thoughts are with you on the moving, and oh rats on the teeth. 101, sounds like errand day was a full one. Molly, glad you got to watch from inside as the rain helped your garden!! Good excuse to be in. dmc, gosh a fire this late, just be glad you are able to have one if you need it, and the porch furniture looks good. Magoobu, tball got rained out!! lauriewilson, a pox on your neighbor, not a word about how kind you are being to Salsa. Yeah, ask him about the quality of life issue when his is not so great. Bet the answer is different.
After coming home from fishing, did a little kitchen duty, in order to have some things ready for lunch after church tomorrow. Just hate to have to start from scratch that late.
Well, if I missed anyone, I am sorry, that is what catching up is like. Read it all, and only cursory comments, because of the length of posts. ~~~ just in case I DID miss someone.
Hope you all have a good restful night.
