Coffee and....for Friday, April 21
Woohoo ... I found *4* roma tomatoes this afternoon!! Yep, can you say *excited*?
Mary~~~ hehehe waving bye. My goodness you must be a glutten for punishment. Hope your weather proves to be better on this trip!
McCool~ sure have been missing you. So sorry you've been feeling so rotten all this time. Forgive me for not checking on you. :-(
Boy, we have some *serious* gardeners in this group! Molly, Lauri and Defoe ... y'all make my back hurt! :) Don't see how you do all that. I'm pooped just doing the little bit I do. LOL
Tgif, hope the tree work went okay.
Defoe, did they do a good job putting down the carpet?
Darius, so sorry you didn't get the pop up. Maybe next time.
Carol, if you're around ... please stop by and give us and update on your Dad, okay?
Well, off to check out some more forums. Got a couple of plants today and need to study up a bit on them. If I don't make it back tonight, hope everyone has a restful night. Waving to those I've missed.
~~~Elaine
~~~~~~~~ to you all. Man have you all been a busy bunch!!!!
Send some of that fish here ..... I'll even clean it - how's that for a deal. I love freshly caught and cleaned fish best of all but still enjoy it out of the freezer. Now imagine what problems you "could" have with your Dh if he didn't fish!!!!! I'd take the fishing obesssion everyday over a heck of alot of things. Mudcats are running here right now and lots of them or so the people who are fishing say. This all reminds me I have to renew my fishing licence this month. DH turns 65 in May so one of the bonus things of age is he no longer has to buy a fishing licence - just his hunting licence.
The %$#$%^ deer are making their presence known and felt already. Grrrrrrrr - I will have to replant some veggies and heaven's knows what I will do with the Hosta.
MIL has had to postpone her "date" as she has a chest cold right now. They have decided to go out to dinner at a wonderful restaurant that sits at the edge of Lake Ontario in Port Hope. While MIL looks frail she has one whale of an appetite - hope this gentleman's pocketbook can handle it. LOL Remember how frightened we all used to be as teens when we went out to eat with a date. I always thought I could only order a soda or maybe a milkshake - didn't want to break the poor kid!
Have been able to set up a Call Control for MIL's phone in the Nursing home. Was able to do it all online and the cost is only $5.00 a month on top of her regular service. After the theft of her money and a few other pecularities I did not want the phone hooked up until I knew we as a family were going to be able to have some input from afar. Online I was able to list all of the numbers that were LD that she would access frequently - with thesed allowed calls she doesn't have to worry about a numerical password when she calls out. If she wants to call some LD that I am not aware of MIL will has to put in her 4 number digit/password before she dials the call. Love the idea.
Sorry about the popup Darius but maybe something else will come all. Glad to hear you are preparing for you house hunting excursion - heaven's know what you will run up against on the road.
Still love the idea of the DG bus and yes Darius - you have not said whether you would accept the challenge of being the DG's Bus Driver.
And your answer is.......
Molly the DL look fantastic - I wish you great success with them. Hope Jeremy's back is feeling better.
LAuri and Salsa ...... big hugs. So glad things turned out so well.
Just made a Rhubarb pie and now will make a Strawberry Rhubarb pie for those you inclined to like pie for breakfast like SArv and I..... trying to use up the frozen rhubarb that I guarded with my life all winter so I wouldn't run out of it too early into the new year.
VAnn - it sounds like you are blessed with the same temps and gas prices as we are here in Verona.Loved the Porshe - still regret not buying the one had my heart set on in 1972. Course still wish we had hung on to the Karmen Gia Convertible we had for 20 years too.
Stormy is calling - gotta get the big guy in - he knocks ploitely on the door the first few minutes he wants back in but then really "knocks" to let me know!!!lol

Hey everybody, I survived the day, and a long one it was!!. The carpet installers were scheduled to be at DM's at 9:30-10:00. Okay, was there moved 2 rooms of furniture, and sat waiting until 11:00 when I called to inquire where they were. Well, supposedly they were on the way. Waited, waited, and waited some more. Decided to go ahead and eat lunch, and get that out of the way. I called every hour on the hour, and at 1:30, threatened to cancel the order and go buy it someplace else. (Just bluffing) but wanted it known that I WAS NOT PLEASED!! At 1:30, saw the van pass by the house, didn't stop. Well about 10 minutes later, they pass by again, didn't stop, I jump in the car and try to chase them down. They like some posts here went "poof". Now folks this is not a big community, and it doesn't take 1 minute to cruise the whole town!! So back to DM's, call the company again, was LIVID. Asked the salesman to call his installers on their cell phones and tell them that we saw them pass, and to get their hinneys back. They don't have a cell phone!!. I suggest in a not too nice way, that he needs to furnish them cell phones!! Well, they had gone to a "nice farm" just outside the town, where they asked if they knew the Ethington's. The farmer says, yes, and by the way, he is fishing in my lake right now. The installers go to the farmer's lake, find my DH, and he escorts them to DM's house. It is now 2:15. Well, the long and short of this story is, they were very nice young men, and did an outstanding job with laying the carpet. Couldn't be mad at them, because they told me that the salesman didn't specify a time that they needed to be here. When they took up the old carpet in DM's bedroom, there was the most beautiful hardwood floor. Considered telling them not to install carpet, and we would refinish the floor and use area rug. But DM was afraid that it would be "slick" and wanted the carpet. Since she is 87, and uses a walker, thought that it would be better for her. So they finished at 6:50, and left. I considered deducting a considerable amount of money for the lost time, but decided that the installers did a good job, and they may be penalized if I did that. Someone asked, what kind of carpet, we chose a berber with a tweed look, beige with flecks of blue, green and mauve. It sure looks nice. So that was my Nightmare day.
So everybody seems to have been busy working in the gardens, transplanting, putting in mulch, weeding and just enjoying the weather. Rain rolled in here about 2:00, and is still at it. Just heard the weather, and they said that the high was 56 today, but felt much cooler when the rain came.
Tomorrow is my errand/grocery day, and will be MIA until early afternoon. So will catch up with you all then. Sorry about not commenting to each and every one, but I read it all, enjoyed it, chuckled a few times. Especially at GG's comment about winning arguments in conversations with herself. That's mostly the kind I win!!
To all of you who want fish, please send me a SASE cooler, with dry ice, and I will return it brimming with fresh fish, guaranteed to be absolutely delicious. Hehehe!! DH would cut off my fingers, all ten of them, if he knew I was offering his hobby booty for SASE. But if you came by in person, he would offer to feed you an "all you can eat".
Molly second the man comment. If this one goes---by whatever means, I will just hire one to do the heavy duty stuff, and investigate the services of a gigilo, ??sp, that is what a stressful day will do to an otherwise sane mind!! Ain't I BADDDD?
Well, off to check some other forums, as I have the beginnings of DG withdrawal. I too most always save coffee and.... till last, just like dessert, but tonight, had to make you guys first.
Have a good peaceful one!!
Morning all - I feel like I've been run over by a mac truck - shoulders, arms legs, head all aching... plus I slashed the tip of my finger and it is throbbing (typing doesnt make it feel any better!! Can't decide if it is all the gardening I've been doing or something else.
Wish I could cancel the h/p, but don't want to let my partner down. If I make it, my treat will be a gas station cappiccino!!
Defoe - sounds like you had a day from $%ll - good thing the carpeting turned out looking great!! We have berber and love i!!! Only one room in the entire house isn't berber!! When styles go out, I'll really be outdated!!
- -
Darius in our area, pop ups are on every corner for sale - you should have no trouble finding another one!! I second the porta pottie!! Hard tops are much nicer than the soft tops too (been there done that...) My folks just sold their trailer- little lightweight thing that is all hard, but the ends flop out into soft sided beds. Cute little thing- with a bathroom (have to have a small arse to get into it tho!!
Well, the blue birds chose our neighbors condos instead of ours - housesparrows have taken roost in our boxes and won't let anything else near -I keep throwing out their nests, but they keep returning. Makes me angry!
I'm cutting myself a big piece of rhubarb pie (my mom puts orange peel in hers- it's to die for!)
Good morning all,
I have a spring cold! Can't complain really as I've ony had hints at colds all season, but it's a bummer. I will not go to aquafit today as I don't think I want to share these germs. Will stay home, do some house cleaning and work in the garden before the rain on the weekend.
Dianne - is your MIL's phone with Bell or some other company? We had to have long distance blocked at the Food Cupboard I used to run. for years it worked OK and then last September and August, on several different occasions, $120 worth of calls to Cuba were made. We think we know who made them but have no proof. anyway, it burned me that as a charity we had to pay $5 per month for each line. But nobody ever told us that you could designate certain allowable numbers. We should look into that though we rarely make LD calls. Hope MIL's chest cold clears up quickly.
Bonnie, too bad about the wait for the installers. I think you have a legitimate complaint if the saleman specified a time to you but not to the installers. Do you have it in writing anywhere? You might be able to negotiate a credit. Glad they were pleasant and did a good job though.
Today is DD#1's 34th birthday (along with the Queen - except she's 80). Glad we are going out for dinner tomorrow and not today. I think I'd stay home today.
And tonight is the first game in the hockey play-offs. With the Sens division leaders at the end of the regular season, hockey fever is raging in this city and the hopes are to go all the way to the Stanley Cup.
Have a good day.
Ann
Am up, had my coffee and read the paper. Since it is grocery/errand day, this is a quick check in. The weather here is overcast, cooler, and with chances of rain. So it looks like no gardening here for me.
Viann, so sorry about your spring cold. I still have a cough from a recent bout of cold/flu/virus, just can't shake it. Take care, and it will soon be gone.
Sarv, I have berber in my house and love it, so naturally chose it for DM's. She is very pleased with it.
Well, I will be back later.
Morning everyone
Well today it looks overcast and I think we might get some rain before the week-end is over. I know we need it but wish it would rain at night so I could be outside during the day. I'm suppose to go to a office luncheon with the DH and am not looking forward to it at all. Would much rather stay home. I hate going to things like that ... sitting around while they talk shop and we smile and nod. Yuck!
Dianne, poor Mom having to postpone her date. Oh and I do remember not wanting to eat in front of my date. Didn't want him to think you were a pig, right. Plus who had an appetite when you were in puppy love! *smile* Hmmm, too bad that can't happen when we're in our 50's! LOL Speaking of eating ... thanks for the pie. :)
Sarv, you are so faithful to your huff/puff. I really need to get a partner. That way I'd hate to leave them hanging. Sorry you're feeling rotten today, though. And ouch with that finger! :-(
Ann, hope you feel better as the day goes on.
Has anyone heard from Maria lately? Haven't seen her post since she spent the day with her DD the other day. I do hope she and Samson are doing okay.
Well, guess I'd better get up from here and start getting ready. I'd much rather stay home and play on the computer.
... Elaine
Just checking in before I leave to spend the day in the gardens-it is gloriously sunny and warm today - showers and cold for the weekend- isn't that always the way.
IO1 - it is true that you do much better with an exercise partner. I would have stayed home in a minute today if it weren't for my friend. As it is, I went, came home and had a diet coke and oreos (new head ache medicine!! LOL) I might as well finsih off the cookies and then they will be gone...
I need to take some pics of my hellebores- first time they bloomed and they are awesome (I've probably told everything this before...sorry)
Well, happy bd to the queen and VI's DD!!
GM everyone!
It's raining this morning. Good thing I weeded, raked and cleared out the mess under the hedge yesterday! I've got Lily of the Valley coming up, first time ever! I've tried growing it in the past and no luck. I put in a start of astibile bush and that's coming up as well. I checked yesterday and the hosta roots are putting up shoots as well as the ones left over from last year are putting up their "bullet" sprouts, so I'll hopefully have a much fuller hosta corner this season. The basil seeds I started are getting their second set of leaves and I'm excited. I know I must sound like a nitwit, but I'm really having a good time watching the things I planted last season come back and the ones I've put in this year take root and grow. I also have two cherry tomato plants that are doing quite well and up about 16" now. Woohoo!!! I am having such fun with my garden.
The weather is supposed to be fabulous this weekend, so DH is going to put the raised foundation down for my little greenhouse and hopefully put it up by Sunday. Ohhh, this is going to be so much fun! He has a little potting bench built for me that will go on the foundation just outside the greenhouse and put one of those plastic gardening tool sheds outside as well. Now I'll have a storage place for the rakes, shovels, potting soil, and whatever's that will be near my flower beds and I won't have to drag everything out of the garage to use. He made a little rack for the potting bench that will hold my trowels, hand rakes and small tools and a drawer in which to keep my gardening gloves. The bench has a plastic tub built into it that will catch the spilled soil; it's fixed into a slide mechanism that will allow me to slide the tub out to dump the soil back into a holding container. Now what more could a gal ask for from her DH? He came up with all this himself, I didn't ask for these things. What a sweet baby, eh? He spoils me so much, I don't know what I ever did to deserve such a fellow.
Now, I have a question. This greenhouse is just a small walk-in style (6' x 4' x 6' high) made with PVC pipes and a plastic zippered cover. It's only meant to be used during the season and taken down for winter. Do I need to be mindful of anything in particular? Are there any worries about mildew or does it require I open the zippered door to allow for air circulation or does it remain shut while plants are in there? I've been reading up about small greenhouses on the internet, but there is little information as to Do's and Don'ts, more about what to do if.....
Well, it's time for another cuppa. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Many blessings on all and please stay safe.
With care, ~Babs~
Babs, I'd ask those questions in the Greenhouse Forum.
Hi all
Kids are off school this week so I don't get much computer time!
We've been having super weather, and I spent 12 hours in the garden on Thursday. I am still paying for it, but got beds cleaned out and raked, and amde a new bed where I will put all my new purple and lavender toned daylilies. I planted phlox, purple delphiniums, and baby's breath in it, and staked out each dl will go. Now to do the same for the reds and pinks...the creams and yellows will be transitions.
Also got up to the farm = that's on the farm forum.
One nice day before rain so I need to paint the deck furniture.
I will check back later!!
Read all the posts, hope Ann and Sarv are feeling better.
Dianne and dcat-sorry for all your aggravations trying to protect your elderly loved ones! Good thing they have you for guardian angels!
Sarv, not many pop-ups available here in Vacationland. Lots in the upper midwest IF I could afford the gas to fetch one!
Having a cranberry bagel with cream cheese for lunch. I'm as bad as Sarv!
Darius- that is too bad about no pop ups by you. Isn't it funny what is popular in each area. Here we have boats, trailers and snowmobiles galore.
Yum - cranberry bagel sounds good to me!! I had leftover chicken and rice - yuck...I really wanted a pizza!! I'm trying to NOT drive like I used to - with gas so high I am stuck at home way more than I like!
I just got a new daylily/hosta catalog from Soules gardens in Indiana. I visited there a couple of years ago. The older couple that had it, had just sold it to a young couple. Things were quite a mess, but it was fun to wander the gardens - I had the urge to help them weed!! My goal is to find daylilies with names of people in my family...what fun!!
Well, seems like everybody is rushing to beat the rain, it's too late for that here. It rained yesterday, and then at noon today started again, and they are saying rain until after midnight tonight, then turning cooler. So my everything is to wet to work in. Okay by me, I went to the grocery/walmart, drugstore and stopped by the chiro, home put everything away, and took a nap. D(twin)S, called and invited me on a trip to Reno with her in August. It is a business trip, her DH wasn't interested, and all I will have to pay for is airfare, and food. Have been there before, and enjoyed it, took day trips to Taho and Virginia City, and of course visited the casinos.
Sarv, sorry that you haven't felt well, and Viann, sorry about your cold. If you develop a cough, I am still taking Mucinex and exportant that will get the gunk up.
dmc, sounds like you put in a looooong day yesterday. Don't try to accomplish it all in a week. Those weeds tend to grow all summer!!
Babs, you sure do have a honey. And it was all his idea, that is double icing on the cake. Most will give in with lots of nagging, but doing it willingly is such a joy. I don't have a green house, so can't help you on the questions you have.
101, have also had to attend my share of luncheons/banquets with DH work bunch. They only good thing about his situation, he worked for a large corporation, and after several of theses obligations, made friends with other wives, and then would look forward to going. In the summer, they still have a picnic for retirees, and is fun.
I forgot to tell you last night, the highlight of my day yesterday with all the aggravation, I caught a glimpse of my first hummingbird. I immediately went out and replenished the feeder so he could tell his friends to "come on over".I think that he must have been the scout, as I havn't seen any since. So when the rain lets up, I will get out and hang my 8 or 9 feeders. Last year I had many, all summer long. I found that there must be cliques, as they tended to fight over 1 feeder, but when I put the others up, I was able to identify a certain group at each feeder. They are such fun to watch.
Well, need to head to the kitchen to fix "supper". Will check in later this "evening". That's for 101.
Later, Bonnie
Not sure where the day went or what got done. It was so hot today, up to 86, but looking now the temp says 72. Wait, that weather station is in Gainesville. They are having t-storms at this very moment. 25 miles east, I can see the clouds, I can hear the thunder, oh please oh please come this way.
I am being terribly teased by the weather. So I keep the sprinklers going in the yard to keep things growing while I wait for "rainy season".
I went through my seeds today. Found a bunch I could just sow freely, so I did. Found some others I want to keep closer track of and will put those in a flat under some lights in the shed for now.
We had 3 daylilies bloom this morning. So between Jeremy and myself we are doing some flower pollinating hoping we'll set some seeds. "I" just have to remember, if you want seed pods, ya don't deadhead the bloom. :^)
50% chance of rain tomorrow. Maybe we will get some then.
Molly
:^)))
Not much going on here today, it was nice out so I pulled up lots of dead snapdragons, and it looks as though they have seeded again as there are lots of tiny leaves showing. I love volunteers. Buds coming on some of the hosta, but the north side of the house doesn't have anything happening yet. Looks like the Valerians I got from my friend in MA have also seeded around where I planted them. They have a heavenly aroma so if they want to take over that whole bed, I won't mind.
Has everyone with injuries, colds, aches or pains started healing? I hope so. Everytime I come in from outside I'm sneezing my head off.' Can't stay in though. Too much to do. Too little good weather. We really do need the rain, but it can come at night, not during the time when I want to be outside.
Elaine, your little baby tomato plants look terrific, they are off to a good start. Between you and Bonnie, you should have enough for all your neighbors, and to fill the freezers. Oh, wait, Bonnie's are full of fish! My BIL in the UP of Michigan gets lots of walleye, but he's pretty stingy with it.
Babs, you sure picked the right fella, all that preparation for your green house. What a guy! Mine's still sitting in the garage after it's little trip around the yard, and now it's getting warm enough I don't think I'll even use it. We did have a light frost last night but it didn't seem to do any damage.
Happy Birthday to you DD, Ann, sharing it with the queen must be special! That makes her a princess, right?
Dcat, that was so funny! I feel the same way, if this one went missing, I wouldn't be eager to find a replacement. They are a lot of work. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do when he retires. Go nuts. He's gotten on my last nerve this week , but I don't know why. Guess I'm just cranky.
Since most folks are up late, I think I'll post the link for Saturday tomorrow morning. I've been going to bed earlier, and actually sleeping better...9: or so last night and didn't wake up until 5:30, which is a rare eight hours straight. ~~~ at everyone, see you in the morning. .
When I miss so much it takes so very long to read and catch up I have lost all my comments LOL
But nice to see everyone ~~~ waving to all and wishing all a wonderful evening.
Anne
Evening everyone...man, worked hard all day and have a blister on my thumb to prove it. I dug up two beds of a buttercup thing - it takes over....a real thug. Got most of it - I hope!!
DH put up a new obelisk for me where he chopped down a pine tree - looks decent. Just need to get something to cover up the legs = have a clematis to climb up it, but it is real sparse - but beautiful!
DM called and wanted us to go out to get Chinese with them - DH and I were both grubby from working in the gardens, so told them to come on out and we would get carry out- had a great time and plenty of leftovers. DM and I played a mean game of scrabble - I beat her, but not until the very end!!
Went to visit the MIL today and she was in a good mood - gave me a table cloth she had done x stitch on - love it.
Hummingbirds dont get up here until Mid may. They are the cutest little things. I'd love to have one eat out of my hand. They sure to buzz your head tho!
DH is going fishing tomorrow while I get soccer duty...oh glory..
Here's my post from this afternoon. It seems DG was down a bit for me and I got busy and never made it back. Boy am I glad I copied it again. LOL It's mostly old news, so forgive me this time. I'll try to do better, but didn't want all this to go to waste. :)
Well, I'm back. Food was good, but someone spilled a glass of tea on a group of us. I jumped up to avoid the spill, and banged my foot on the table leg
resulting in a gash on my ankle. Of course I bled like a stuck pig. *sigh* Between that and the tea ... just came on home. Thank goodness we were through
with the meal.
It started out hazy and a bit overcast today but the sun is out, and it's *very* hot again today.
Darius, sorry you aren't having any luck finding a pop up. Guess that would be difficult to come by down there. Did you get your cable reconnected?
Babs, what a darling DH you have! A greenhouse! Ooooh, I'm *green* with envy! LOL That's just wonderful ... and a potting bench to beat! I'm just teasing
ya. Am *very* happy for you. Always enjoy seeing others so happy. :) Have fun in your garden, and do tell your Mum hi.
dmc~ sounds like you're staying busy. My goodness ... 12 hours? You serious? I must be a wimp. Y'all are all working circles around me! LOL What color
are you painting the furniture?
Defoe~ hope your shopping day is going okay today. I'll be doing my errands tomorrow. :)
Suzie, how is your friend from your office doing? And what about your son's arm?
Lauri, we need a report on your son and also on Salsa.
Well, just thought I'd stop in a minute to see what everyone was up to this afternoon.
We have a lot of folks that haven't checked in lately. Have been wondering about Anne, Maria, Karot and all the others and some
of the others we haven't heard from in a while. Hope everyone is okay and no one is sick or has had family issues they're dealing with.
Will check back later.
~~~Elaine
Elaine all is fine here just busy with son's school volunteer stuff but read all just hard to comment since not a fast typer LOL
always happy to see everyone in coffee and try to read all at the very least!
Have a great night everybody!!!
Anne
After supper, and cleaning the kitchen, I tackled this weeks bills, bank statements, etc. Took me 2 hours. Got some seeds packaged and ready to go to the post office in the morning.
M5, if I went to bed that early, I would be up at 2:00, rearing to go. That is why my bed time is after midnight usually.
It is still raining here, and is turning cooler. Haven't listened to the official weather forecast, anxious to see what they say is in store for the weekend. If it stopped raining right now, it would be maybe Tuesday or Wednesday before I can get out and dig. That means that I will tackle some weeds, as they pull easier, when the ground is wet. DH has been wanting a weeping cherry tree for some time. He met a nursery man who sells wholesale to a lot of the places around here, and got about a 6 foot one, for $70.00. So, I am making out a list for him to go see if he can get some more items that cheap. I priced a weeping cherry last spring about the same size and it was priced at 190.00.
DS called again and let me know that she has made the airline reservations, so Reno is a go in August.
Tomorrow, I have to go to the bank, the library, and then there is a craft show, home/garden show at a "buffalo farm" about 12 miles from me. They have these shows about 3 times a year, and they are really good. Not really interested in the crafts part, just the home/garden stuff.
Molly, is the weather there that much different than in Ft. Lauderdale? I would have thought that being more north that it would be consideably better heat wise. I am glad to know that you got all the dl in the ground. Have you finished all the paper work too? That's the drudgery part for me. When I get new seeds, plants or what ever, I try to enter it in a data base I have, and sometimes I put it off as long as I possibly can. Have several packages of seed laying on the desk right now, that I need to enter.
Well, I am going to go check out some other forums, and will probably be back later to wish all a good night.
Hi gang,
Bonnie, glad the carpeting turned out well ---- even with the timing problems and the difficulty the workers had in finding the right address. That seems to be more the rule than the exception these days. When I had a problem with my business phone a couple of years ago the two telephone companies involved were too busy blaming each other to find out where the problem actually was, and when one of them did send out a repairman, they sent him to a non-existent address. On another subject, it sounds like you'll have a busy summer with all the traveling you're planning. Hope it's a lot of fun.
101, I have tomato envy! My poor little plants are just about showing their first true leaves and I won't be able to put them in the ground for another month or so. None of my peppers germinated so I'll have to buy a flat or two of those this year.
Dianne, missed your pie for breakfast, but I'll gladly take a piece now if there's any left! If my DH were here he'd be thrilled that there was plain rhubarb on offer --- he doesn't like his "contaminated" with those nasty strawberries. Sometimes I think he really is from another planet, not just another country.
Babs, lucky you with a DH so committed to fulfilling your every gardening wish! Enjoy your greenhouse and potting bench. It sounds great.
Hi magoobu, nice to see you here again.
sarv, hope you're feeling better. At least you got a chance to spend some quality time with family and got a lot accomplished outdoors from the sound of it.
Vi-anne, oh no! Sorry about the cold and hope it vanishes in no time at all. My mother seems to have picked up the bug that my DH and I had and sounds absolutely miserable. She's supposed to be going on an overnight trip on Monday and has already paid for it (non-refundable, I think). I sure hope she's much improved by then (and hope yours is also just a memory!)
M5, glad that so many good things re-seeded for you. I tried planting valerian from seed, but nothing came up. I'm waiting to see whether or not any of the flat-leaved parsley is going to come up this year. A bunch of it did re-seed and started growing just before winter. That was all killed off by the cold and snow, but I'm hoping that there were other seeds that didn't germinate then that will come up now. I did collect a bunch, so will start more if necessary.
~~~~~~~~to Molly, darius, dmcd, and everyone else who didn't get around to posting today. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
Bonnie,
Yep, got all the basics of the paperwork down. Still looking for photos to post without infringing anyone else. I spent years working indoors, in offices or whatever. Now, the paperwork (computer) details are quite tedious.
It's a lot colder here in winter than in Lauderdale. On hot days I reckon it will be hotter here than down there. We have no sea breezes here to cool the heat. Even still, with age and "global warming" we need to take a break from the mid day heat here. No reason to kill ourselves over it.
Molly :^)))
Well, I cruised the other forums, always find something of interest.
I didn't see the Saturday forum posted, somebody else want to do it? Evidently M5, hit the wrong key, and it went poof.
101, good about the roma tomatoes, are they bigger than the one DH showed you the first of the week?
My repotted tomatoes are looking real good. Although DH's hydroponic tomatoes are taller, I think mine look healthier. So we will wait and see. Good contest huh?
Well, I am going to make the curfew here tonight, bed before 12:00, that is something to note on your calendar!!
The rain, I guess is making me ache all over. Joints are just screaming, so will take the Tylenol pm, and retire.
Hope everybody has a good restful night.
Didn't mean to ignore anybody, so to those I haven't mentioned by name, ~~frantically at you.
Good night.
Defoe, you and I have bedtimes in common. I use to go to bed early and get up around 4:30 or 5:00. Don't see how in the *world* I use to do that. LOL Now I'm up until at least 1 and sometimes later. It seems I wake up on the hour and don't rest like before. I think it has something to do with being 50! LOL
Molly, I don't see how you keep those records on all those plants. You and Defoe sure must be organized. I made the #1 mistake and just planted things without being careful to label. Now I have things I'm not too sure what in the heck is. Actually, I had a system ... it just wasn't a good one!
Anne, I wrote that last message around 2 this afternoon and posted it tonight. I think you had actually checked in. Glad to see you though. I know what you mean about being busy. Some days I don't get to check in at all. Week-ends are usually the busy times for me. :)
ViAnn, sure hope you're feeling better by now. If not ... maybe you can rest up over the week-end. By the way, how is your DH getting along?
Well, think I'll run over and check on some of the other forums and maybe get comfy. It's Friday night so I'll probably be back.
... ~E~
McCool, didn't mean to ignore you, I wanted to ask how the gunk/cold is? Have you gotten the Mucinex? I ran out and didn't take it for a whole day, got some more today, and immediately after taking it, still coughing up "stuff". No I am not a paid promoter for the stuff, just know that it works for me.
Do you mean that DH doesn't like strawberries? I find that strawberries sort of cut the tart taste of Rhubarb. I have killed 3 starts of rhubarb, but hav a plant that it doing great. Of course the first year, won't be able to harvest any. DMIL has some, so maybe she will offer some to me.
I am getting worried about Maria. She hasn't posted since Wednesday, I think, and I sure hope that she is alright, just busy with the earth boxes.
Maria, If you are listening, please let us know that you are okay.
Well, I am off again, 101, I don't think that I will see 1:00, tonight, as my eyes are getting heavy.
Good night everyone, have a restful, peaceful one.
Here is the daily for Earth Day, April 22
Bet you thought I wasn't around anymore. LOL
I'm still lurking don't you know.

Just popped in to say hi to everyone. Have been busy in the salon,,,,good thing. Have been busy helping Marie count numbers in the hosta co-op. And re-count, and re-count. I swear I can add the same numbers 20 times and get 20 different answers,,,LOL
Well, way too tired to comment. Hopefully will get a chance to grab a cuppa with everyone tomorrow. My eyes are watering and I can't stop yawing,,,fingers don't want to work anymore either.
Night all.
Kelly
Kelly and Susan ... so nice to see both of you. Now *just* because you got that hosta thing goin on ... don't forget about us, now you hear! LOL Hey, speaking of hostas ... I've got an adoptee and the poor thing has a broken leaf. What should I do ... just leave it alone or should I pinch it off? It's so tiny I'm afraid if I pinch off one of the leaves it won't stand the shock of transplanting. Any suggestions?
I think Sheila said somewhere above she would post Saturday's this morning. She figured since it was Saturday, all would sleep in a little. heehee. Not me and I had no insomnia last light. Slept like a log.
Elaine, the daylilies I bought are for resale. Selling DL's is a very serious business to DL buyers. Keeping the records straight is imperative for a sellers reputation.
Now my own plants, on the other hand,I still haven't done a thing on my garden journal. By the time I get to that I will have forgotten all their names. Darius will be stopping by in a week or so and hopefully she will tell me "one last time" which fruit tree is which. I know which are the blueberries and fig.
See ya in the morning thread.
Molly
:^)))
