Coastal gardening forum

Ormond Beach, FL(Zone 9a)

I would like to request a new forum for people that live on the coast. I live 2 blocks from the beach and find a unique set of challanges for gardening. I was curious if anyone else would be interested in a forum like that.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Sounds very interesting !

How would this differ from the current Florida Gardening forum? I guess what I'm trying to ask is...is there so much activity in the Florida forum that we need a separate forum to handle coastal gardening questions?

And would this forum be for ALL coastal gardeners, regardless of which coast? We've got the West coast, the Alaska bay folks, Hawaiians, the Atlantic seaboard, the outer banks of the Carolinas, the Gulf coast region....not to mention the Canadians and the UK and Europeans who live in a coastal area.

(Maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet this a.m. - that's ALWAYS a possibility ;o)

I've been wondering about a coastal gardening forum too, but was afraid no one would be interested. Coastal gardeners have a unique set of conditions to deal with like salt spray, salt in the soil and water and constant wind(not little breezes here, but wind all day every day).
I think one forum for all coasts would be okay.

I did mean for all coasts. I understand they would all be different zones. I have problems with high winds and salt spray and my sprinkler system even has salt seepage in it. I don't really think of the Florida forum as coastal, Orlando in the middle of the state wouldn't have any of the same problems That gardeners on the coast would have.
