Yellow Daffs...
What's blooming for us in Canada?
They are lovely Steve and I must confess that the daffy with the orange centre is my favourite. They're all so healthy looking. Good for you!
Thank-you Joan! I've had that daff with the orange center for a long time and I can't remember what it's called.....It comes back faithfully every year though.....unlike some I bought a few years ago which didn't even come up this year. It was supposed to be some old proven variety too!
Steve
I have the Fritillaria also, but can't seem to get a decent picture of them. They're so unusual - I like them.
Maybe I'll try again later. Joan
This is my first time photographing them and only the second year they've bloomed for me. They took a couple years to bloom after I bought them. The second photo is one of my favorites :)
Steve
Yes, I like silhouette pictures also. It looks like you tried to get under them to take your pic. I tried the same thing and everything in the background came out cockeyed. lol
Yes, I held the camera right at the base of the plants and it came out pretty well. Maybe mine just turned out like that cause it was cloudy out?
Steve
Probably the lack of bright sunshine helped Steve. Usually, the best times to take flower photos is early morning and evening.
I found out that my beautiful Bethlehem Sage Raspberry Splash pulmonaria is also called Lungwort. No wonder they've prettied up the name. :)
That's where digital photography is a big learning tool. I took about 30 pics of my garden a couple of summers ago at mid-day in high summer, came in, downloaded and trashed every single one because of the harse shadows.
They're nice pics Steve. If it ever stops raining (no I'm NOT really complaining - we need the rain), I'll try to get out and photograph my Fritillaria which is blooming for the first time ever - in maybe 10 years. I'd take it in the rain, but I don't want to get muddy with the camera in hand.
Ann
Lungwort isn't a very attractive name at all. I wonder why its called that?
I did some slight photo shopping on the silhouette photo I posted(after I posted it) and removed the fence and bracket in the bottom left corner so all there is is the plants and the branches of the trees. What type of Fritillaria do you have Ann?
Steve
Dunno Steve.
I bought several years and years ago. They never bloomed and all but one disappeared. That one poked up every year and died down again. But this year, finally, it has decided to bloom. It's orange. that's all I can tell you. I never thought I'd see it blooming.
Ann
I look forward to seeing a photo of it, if it stops raining for you.
Is it the type with the tuft of leaves on top of the flower stalk?
Steve
I love Corydalis! Thanks for sharing your photos Fancy!
Steve
Ahhh, the Cherry trees and the Magnolia are blossoming here now...

Hey look who couldn't stay away. Welcome back Donna.
Hey Donna: I joined the epiforum a little while ago and noticed you were a member there - wondered how you were doing.
carol
Welcome back Donna - I'm so glad to see you here again! --Ginny (the other one)
Hi Donna, nice to see you here. Joan
Oh dear. Maybe Donna's not back. Her home page has no "Subscribed through..." date on it :-(
Welcome back Donna.......love looking at all the pics posted here (spring has truly arrived :).
Nice photo Joan! What kind of grass is that in the bottom right of the photo? I think I have the same one but dont know the name.
Welcome back Donna!
Steve
What a fine garden you have Joan! And I agree that your grape hyacinths do have a very nice blue colour.
Steve
And this is what was delivered this morning! 4 cubic yards of compost!
I can't spread a lot at one time - it is a bit of work spreading it in the perennial beds and my back does not appreciate the job! Trying to persuade some fellow gardeners to come and help out! Spreading compost does not seem to be a highly desirable job!
I like your little girl Carol and I think the hyacinths are doing pretty well. Are these from previous winters and planted in previous springs? Must be. hmmmmm
Quite a load of compost you have there and it looks overwhelming to me so I can just imagine how you're seeing it. Little by little it will get spread around. My back slows me down too so I know how you feel.
It WILL get done, by and by. :)
Joan
Whats you secret with the species tulips Fancy? I've planted them before and they died out completly. Yours look very healthy and happy!
Steve
