OH CRUD! Did you guys see the warnings about frost?
Coffee's on and Spring is here!
NO! When??
sposed to be tonight! Sorry just got in from covering my plants, it even feels like impending doom out there!
Sorry GREN, I don't know the variety.
I was given some years ago, I planted them in deep shade. They did OK but when I moved 2 clumps to the sunny flower bed they did much better.
Are yours relatively short with soft lavender flowers on 30+ inch stalks?
Anita, I saw the first Oriole yesterday. A male at the bird bath. Very shy. Pretty

Andy,
My Hosta (soon to be Dave and Anitas Hosta also) get up about knee high, the stalks on them come up to my chin. I'm 5'71/4". The new clumps may or may not get that tall depending on the soil and how much sun they get. The ones going out have been in the sun for the better part of the day, they get big and multiply quickly, filling in a spot in two years. Plus I sent enough to plug one spot, or if you don't mind the wait, a few spots. tee hee, and theres more where that came from.
No Thanks GREN, I have too much as it is.
Is everybody ready for 4 days of rain? At least up here, that's what is predicted.
Maybe it will cut down on the pollen, it's killing me this year.
This is what my tomatoes look like today, I'll be planting them next weekend.
They have been in the cold frame for 3 weeks, they are ready.
Andy P
Actually managed to transplant a few lettuce starts, some cauliflower seedlings and threw in some seeds for kale, lettuce, radishes, bunching onions, and some flowers, so YEAH, I'm definitely ready for a few days of rain! My garden never seems big enough for all the seedlings and seeds that I want to plant, but when it comes to watering (especially HAND-WATERING) it starts to look pretty big after all.
Dena, Wow! I thought I had some of the hosta you were sending but mine are shorter (like Andy described). That's great!
By the way, I always thought you were 5' 7 & 3/8!! You must be shrinking!
(Really I'm sitting here smiling that you describe your height to the 1/4 inch. Do you do that with your age too? ;^)
Finally able to check in to see what you guys are up to - haven't even been on DG for over two weeks :( Exhausted, but we're having a very successful spring with all the shows we travel to every weekend. We're off to the State Arboretum in Boyce, VA this weekend and hoping to finally meet a few DG'ers who are supposed to attend. Hopefully I'll have a few min to chat - seems like we're swarmed every weekend and I don't get much of a chance to chat - but then I'm supposed to be selling plants right? Our gardens are really suffering - well everything is growing gangbusters but so are the weeds! Our open house is less than 4 weeks away so I've got to spend some time in the gardens. We haven't even got a complete mowing of our grass done yet since both the rider and push mowers were in the shop at the same time - brought them back home and both of them had problems the first day and had to go back in immediately. Now we're back for a few days and ready to mow and it's raining! Guess we'll be running the brush hog on the tractor to knock it all down and then mow it with the rider and push to get it back to normal.
Just wanted to check in to let you know I'm still alive and kicking :) Hoping to be back to "normal" by the first of June - Have fun in the garden!
Debbie
Hey Deb - glad all is well. Spring is tough for everyone - in a good way of course! So much to do and plant. A couple of more weeks and then it will just be maintenance. I know I haven't had time to be on DG as much as I like. I miss everyone!! My everythought is the new bed in the back and I can't wait to see things mature so I know what to repeat in the annual department and where to put more perennials.
I started a new thread http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/600431/ see you there!
