Susan, you have honeysuckle blooming already??? Oh geez, I love honeysuckles! Love the pics of the az. too.

Morning all -sun is out here!! Storms coming tonight- even hail they say!!

Oh Maria, that Samson is a card - be thankful he didn't decide to crunch down on the ink in the house and make a royal mess!! Your dinner sure sounded delish - mine was good too- DH smacked his lips! I made plain jello with whipped cream for dessert- it really hit the spot. Haven't made jello in years!

Oz - hmmm what a mess down your way. I've seen people falsely accused, so I'd hold off judgment too.

9Kit- man, what beautiful flowers. I only have tulips and daffys showing their beauty. Yesterdays all day rain sure did green things up here tho!

I always hang out my hummer feeders way early. I keep track on the hummingbird map. Just when I put the feeders out, the weather turns cold it seems! We always have at least three and they are so funny - buzz around your head if you are in their way!

GG-ouch sore feet - they are the worse. I had plantar fascitis for over a year and have orthotics. I wore them faithfully for a year straight with only Merrill shoes. Now it is better. The podiotrist told me to NEVER go barefoot - sheesh, I hate wearing shoes!! I seldom wear shoes in the house, but have an old pair of merrils that I always wear gardening.

Well, mr squirrel has come for breakfast- I need to screech at him..

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Well like I said I will reserve judgement on this man accused of child molestation. At the risk of sounding on his side you really need to know what the X wife is like. when they broke up she told everyone it was just because she was bored with being married. The woman has a real bad streak. It is as widely recognized in a town of 500 people as can be. You might wonder why he married something like that. Well she was PG by him. I do not want to paint him out a angel either. He is not a drinker but he does have two first loves. Fishing and Hunting to the point where they have priority over working regularly for a living.

Defo---- Your right I have thought since that little girl was able to walk that she had withdrawn ways. I am not sure if it is him the mother are both. As far as that guy in your area he would have set off a gang off bells and whistles in my head.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Morning! I was thinking to keep this short, but then a little voice in my head said, "Who are you kidding?"

Had an email from the mini-processer guy, who said he had personal problems and it would be on it's way. Uh huh. This, after I posted a blistering feedback comment...where there are now about 14 in a row of negative ones. If he had that many in March I would not have bought from him. I already ordered another one, but I'll believe him when I see it in the mailbox.

That Samson!! What a silly guy....glad he didn't break open the ink cartridge, he would have been a mess. A friend of mine's lab got hold of a felt tip marker, and chewed it up inside the house, and there were stains all over the carpet, and him, permanent marker stains. Orange. Impossible to remove.

Susan, the azaleas are breathtaking! Wish they were hardy here. I have a few more crocuses popping up, and lots more tulips. Buds are swelling on the roses, lilacs, burning bush, all the trees, and it appears Spring is really here. I'm sure we'll get a few more bad days, but I'm relishing the good ones. Today is Create a Rock day, as the wind has died down. I will take pics, even if it turns out badly.

GG, and Susan, having your feet hurt is just the worst...I wear orthotics too, but I swear I'm more comfortable in bare feet, and they don't hurt from walking around with no shoes. Go figure, put shoes on and they are ok for a while, but too much walking and ow ow ow.... digging is hard on them even with the orthotics in. My problems are that my feet are very flat, and that tendon that runs down the inner ankle has stretched over the years and doesn't provide support. It could be worse, and the orthotics help.

Maybe I'll hang out the hummer feeder after all...I've got the nectar, and what if that little guy comes back and is hungry? He'd be so disappointed.

Speaking of little guys, I turned on the ceiling fan in the living room last night. Bear in mind, the one in my little office area is on all the time, winter or summer just to help circulate the heat. Sammi spotted the other fan running, and was running around beneath it trying to leap up and catch it. On his two back legs!! It was so funny. He tried his best to wash me awake this morning, but I wasn't falling for it. He got DH up instead.

~~~~ to everyone, I'm off to the shower and to get ready to go play with fire.
Maria,
I have been up since 5:30. Talked to a painter on the phone and set an appt for him in Lauderdale. Wondered, what day did I send him to work on, tomorrow Sat?
Yesterday morning Jeremy and I cleared a field of debris for our new daylily bed. There is a local nursery that just changed ownership. The new guy doesn't really want to do DL's so he's willing to sell at a discount in volume. Yesterday afternoon we went and started pulling pots and tagging them for transport. The plan, 500 pots, double fans in each. Thought we had 494 by 5:30. Loaded the van with 300, give or take. Left the rest, going back this morning.
On final count when we got home, my numbers were off by 100, so, I need to pick out that many more to meet my quota. These are patented named daylilies. I've been thinking of what my next career will be. I think the decision has been made.
Well, we better get back out there. That guy let me drive away with all those plants and I haven't paid him yet. Don't want to make him nervous.
See ya later.
Morning All,
It's sunny and beautiful here this morning.
Susan,
Beautiful Azaleas,,,just gorgeous. Honeysuckle too. Do I sense pics being taken for the photo contest?,,,LOL What a dumb guy across from you. I'd have called the Police. The wind could have shifted and the fire could have come to your house. Yep, I'd have definitely called the Police.
DR,
Hope things are a bit better for you today. You're still in my thoughts and prayers.
sarv,
I think the shoes I had on were the majority of the problem. They were an old pair of gardening shoes,,,come to think of it, they never were comfortable when I wore them in the Salon,,,that's how they got to be gardening shoes. Anyway, I was wearing them Sun. afternoon and Mon. morning while I was out blowing leaves off. I was in a hurry yesterday morning and didn't change the orthotics into my usual pair of shoes,,,,,DUMB! Although, my legs, ankles and feet are so swollen lately,,,can hardly get my shoes on with the orthotics in,,,I may have to quit wearing them for awhile. I hear that plantar thing is Very painful. Have heal spurs but they aren't bothering me now,,,they did for about 2 or 3 years.
oz,
What a weird situation. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Well, Hi to all who haven't checked in yet. Gotta get ready for work,,,will try to bbl
Kelly
We are on our way out to get the last 200 and I will take a photo when they are all together. Some are already getting ready to bloom. Can't wait!!!!!
Hi all , almost 70 and sunny here, sounds like everyone's doing pretty well except for aching feet - I'll join that crowd, I have to wear orthotics to walk across a room or I am in bad pain. With orthotics, I'm a regular person. So I'm grateful for them, but all the in and out in shoes makes a mess of the floor.
Susan-Beautiful azaleas and honeysuckle, sorry the idiot had to burn the fields!! I hope it's under control. That smoke would do me in.
Lauri-Hoping for good news on Salsa
Kooger-glad to hear Kandyce is doing well.
Oz-I too would reserve judgment, very awful things can be claimed in nasty divorces. Seems to be fairly common.
Seems to be more good news than bad out there today though.
Molly-Lucky for you with the daylilies!
I hope you all continue to have a great day, with blessings for DR and her family.
On food:
Our interest in food illustrates that our three basic needs as human beings--love, food and security--are so intermingled that it is difficult to think of one without the others. Here's one of my favorite quotes:
MFK Fisher, On Dining Companions
Quoting:
Dining partners, regardless of gender, social standing, or the years they have lived, should be chosen for their ability to eat -- and drink! -- with the right mixture of abandon and restraint.
They should be able, no, eager, to sit for hours over a meal of soup and wine and cheese, as well as one of 20 fabulous courses.
Then, with good friends of such attributes, and good food on the board, and good wine in the pitcher, we may well ask, "When shall we live, if not now?"
Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)
I like that, Darius, thank you for sending it, that is how I feel, not doing that as much as when Richard was still with me, "those were the days, my friend"
Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)
Darius, what a lovely quote.....thanks for shareing. All my life the dining room table has been the central gathering place for friends and family. There were times when it was hot dogs and beans, or fish sticks and mac and cheese, and in better times......fancier foods! But always the companionship and making memories were the most important.
Pati
Darius ... how true! I turned my livingroom into an office for me as I didn't need it. We gather around the kitchen table when we have company ... or maybe I should say friends over. LOL
Molly~ great deal on the plants!
To all of you who have hurting feet ... am so sorry. I went through a time when I had a lot of right foot trouble due to twisting it on a hickery nut. Stepped on it, and my foot rolled over. I *know* I broke my baby toe and maybe one of the small bones in my foot but nothing showed up on x-rays. My toe has a hump to this day and shoes don't fit like before, but I sure don't hurt like that.
Well, went out to water everything and give the herbs a hair cut but found out the squirrels have beat me to it again. I'm getting *very* discouraged now. They are *really* wrecking things, and I've worked so hard out there. *sigh* They had dug around in the basil so much that they managed to strip the bottom leaves of the plants. I was talking to my MIL, and they're having problems also. It seems everyone I talk to is fighting with the devilish creatures this year. :-( So sorry for moaning. I know it seems like that's all I talk about.
Maria~ has Samson gotten use to the time change yet or is he still getting you up an hour early?
Hi Carol~ good to see you dropping by. Please give us a report on your Dad. Your family continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.
M5~ can't wait to hear about your rock project.
DMC~ sounds like you're having GA weather today! :)
Well, as an update on my rant from last week ... we got a gift card from Red Lobster yesterday for $25, so looks like we'll be going back. Think I'll give them a chance to get their problems worked out, though. LOL
Hi to all I've missed or to those who haven't checked in today.
... Elaine
Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)
Hi everyone. Just dropping in to let you know I'm still alive and have been trying to keep up on the posts. What a crazy week! 3 people are out this week and we are going through a really busy period.
Co-worker got some more unexpected bad news the other day. Her DH was scheduled for surgery next Tuesday for the esophagial cancer. They found that he also has a hole in the trachia (sp?). First they need to determine if the cancer has spread to that area. If that is the case, he has only a year or so. If the cancer did not spread, it would make the surgury more difficult. I don't have great details, due to her being understandably distrought when I spoke with her. Please keep Gina and John in your thoughts and prayers. They are so young to be going through this.
Tomorrow DS gets his cast off. I can't believe it has been 5 weeks alread. After I take him at 9 a.m. we are leaving for DE. My cousin is getting married (again) on saturday. Small wedding, but should be fun. It will just be nice to get away for a couple days.
Lauri - Hope your horse is doing better.
Carol - Still have your family in my prayers.
Molly - Those daylilies sound so pretty! Can't wait to see pictures.
Elaine - Those rotten squirels! Or as we call them around here, tree rats.
Darius - Great quote. I don't even have a dining room in our house. We just have a very large kitchen with a big table. When I did have a dining room, no one ever used it. We always stayed in the kitchen, closer to the coffeee pot. We use the dining room as a computer room/ reading area.
Well, I have been interupted by the phone 3 times while trying to write this, so I will just ~~~~~~~to everyone else. I will try to get onto my Aunts computer when we go to her house and check in. If I don't get back here, I wish you all a blessed and happy Easter.
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Good Afternoon all, I saw the thread said Friday, and thought gee, I know I was gone a while this morning, but I lost a whole day!!.
Had a dentist appointment this morning at 8:30, and was in the grocery store about 9:15. So got everything done and was home by 11;30. Very unusual that I get home that early on grocery shopping day.
I had broken a wire, so Dentist had to replace it. This is the second time that has happened. I must be gnawing on something during my sleep!!
Kittymom, the azaleas are gorgeous, and I wish I were there to smell the honeysuckle. I admire it from afar. Several years ago, I planted some Japanese honeysuckle, to vine on my deck, and found out later it was invasive, and still am digging sprouts out every year.
DR, glad to see you here. Any news from your DF? I think of you daily, and pray that your hearts are healing, and that DF, is being kept comfortable.
M5, I would have liked to Sami, and his antics with the fan. In addition to the digital camera, you need to install a 24/7 video camera. Maybe you could get some pics on America's Funniest Videos, and then you would have plenty of bucks to spend on flowers.
Maria, I shuddered when I read of Samson and the ink cartridge. If he had broken it in the house, you would have never gotten the ink up.
Darius, I loved your quote. I think hospitality is about sharing what you have with those you love. It could be cornbread and beans, but if the compay was good, it could be a gormet meal.
Pattischell, good to see you here. ~~ at you.
GG, foot problems are the pits. When I was working, I had to dress in suits and high heels on a daily basis. When I retired, and was wearing flat shoes, or tennis shoes, my calves would ache so. Found out later it was because the muscles in that area were going from being stretched to their limit, to having no stretch. Tood about 9 months for everything to work out. Now heels today means 1" or less!!
Sarv, my DGD loves jello. When ever she comes, she wants to make it. So we have been having it often.
dmc, glad that you are having some warmer weather. Our temps today are supposed to hit 80, both today and tomorrow. So I have on shorts for the first time this year, feels pretty good too.
Molly, good price on the day lilys. So are you going into the day lily business? If you have any that you find are just too ugly to plant, just put it in the mail to me. I will be your plant rescue person!!
101, we too gather at the dining room table. As my kitchen/dining room are together, I can visit and cook at the same time. In our other house, the kitchen was so little, that it only held the cook, so I never felt like I got to visit with anybody that was there for a meal.
Drat those squirrels. I am going to start praying that God will give them an urge to move on down the street about a mile!! Good about the gift card. Maybe when you go back, all the problems will have been straightened out. I hope that was just a bad day there, and the service hasn't really suffered that badly. Still no word on the pool. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
Well, I have laundry to do, and a dishwasher to unload, and some ribs to cook for supper, so better get going. I will check back in later.
Oh, I bought some more dahlias and cannas today, so will try to get them in the ground. My rhubarb didn't look so good either, so bought another plant. And some spikes to go in my big barrels in front of the garage.
Well, I'm gone now!!
Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)
EEEEEEeeeeeeegaaaaaaaaaaads!!!!! I just got the start of my life. I booted up my computer, came in here and saw FRIDAY, April 13th for the thread!!! Holy cow....did I miss a day? I swore this was Thursday, April 13th and I start work this afternoon for the weekend! I looked at my calendar, my watch and the TV and they all said THURSDAY!!! I knew something had to be amiss as work would have called had I not shown up yesterday (if it had really been Friday). Oy vey!!! And it's a full moon tonight. I know I'm in for it already. If it's starting out like this, it's only going to get WORSE!!!!! LOL
I got a TON of work done Tuesday while it wasn't raining. I cleared out a whole section by the woods to the right of our driveway. I pulled weeds, grass and stinging nettles and planted lupines and larkspur and put cedar mulch down and made a very nice looking area that was a mess before. I also moved lots of rocks around and made a nice edging to the area with the rocks. It's actually on our neighbours property, but she gave me permission to clean it up and when I told her what I wanted to do, she was all for it. I kept the native ferns that were growing there, actually cleaned them up a bit too. I cut away all the old dead fronds, left the salal that was growing and the Oregon grape and made a nice looking area. It's where the corner of her property and the edge of our driveway meet. I'm trying to make it as maintenance friendly as possible because once her hubby is gone (pancreatic cancer) she will have this to contend with herself. I'll keep it up for now until we sell and move in the next couple of years.
We had supper with Mum last night as per our usual Wednesday evening habit. She was feeling pretty spiffy at the moment and I had made a key lime pie with Splenda for her and she chowed down on it quite heartily after supper. I had to laugh, she smacked her lips and said, "I've not had anything that tart since your Da passed away!" Love Mum's heart, she's still pretty spunky. She went on to tell me that Da was pretty tart as a young man, said he was a wet kisser, but dried up a bit with age. LOL It's hard to imagine ones parents being young and full of the devil, but apparently my Da was full of it at times. She also told us of a situation when they were first married and living in the same house as my widowed paternal grandfather. It was during the Great Depression and they had to stay together to make ends meet. She had fixed supper early as she knew my Da would be coming home to change clothes to go to his second job and had to eat quickly and leave. My Da had bent my Mum backwards over the desk in the parlour and had planted a BIG SLOPPY KISS on her just as my grandfather had walked in from the kitchen where he'd been inspecting the evening meal. She said my grandfather cleared his throat rather loudly, dropped his newspaper and tried hard to walk backwards back towards the kitchen. Grandpa tripped over the carpet laying between the two rooms, fell flat on his rump and said, "Well, I always knew my sons were just like me, but I never knew they could bowl someone over with a kiss!" LOL
I'm including a photo of this house that my parents lived in with my grandfather. When I was in Ohio two years ago, I stopped at this house and ended up spending the evening with the owners. I explained who I was and why I was interested in the house. It was purely magical. They understood my fascination and allowed me to come inside and they showed me around. My parents lived there from 1934-1936. We ended up calling my Mum on the phone and they spoke with her too about the house. Seems when my Grandfather remarried several years later, he sold this house to the father of the man who now owns it. The new owner was a veterinarian who used the house to live in (raised 5 sons and a daughter in this house) and had his practice in the basement and what had been the cistern became his surgery. The owner took me into the basement and showed me the sign that he had saved from his father's practice and there it was on the wall, just as big as day. My Mum remembered the man who bought the house from my grandfather and named him on the phone. The owner was so enthralled that someone remembered his father that they talked for almost 2 hours after that. My Mum remembered who had owned the little grocery store that had been across the street when she lived there and the neighbours who had lived next door. Oddly enough, the neighbours next door had only passed away a year before and they were both 100 years old! They died 2 weeks apart.
Isn't it odd how life can come full circle at times? How can anyone not say, we are all a part of each other, in some fashion?
Well, it's about time for me to get ready for work. I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys their weekend. Hugs to all, ~Babs~
Well, the good new is, I didn't spray any paint on me or my clothes. The bad news...............it still looks like a garbage can! LOL The plastic does odd things when it softens, there's a fine line between soft and melted and I crossed it several times. I thought there was still a possibility of rescuing it, so I sprayed it with a textured paint, and then with matte black. Ahhh well, the best laid plans..... It can go in the ground to keep my future pampas grass from taking over and spreading too far! Hypertufa here I come. While I;m at it I might as well make a fake rock for the well pipe too.
Awww Elaine, those squirrels are just a darn nuisance! I can't think of what you could do to make them go away, unless you start setting Havahart traps and releasing them miles away from home. I haven't seen any bunny damage yet, but the hosta arent popping up and that will surely draw them in. Then I will be out there with my pellet gun, if I can find it.
I don't have a dining room either, I converted the area where it would have been for my reading chair, book cases, and the roll top for the computer. If we have more than just we two for dinner, I can seat 6 at the kitchen table, if I add the folding work table from the den we can do eight, plus there's three stools at the snack bar. More than that and it's every man for himself. Hasn't been a problem so far, my guests are mostly family, and quite willing to sit anywhere. In nice weather there's the deck.
Emptied the dishwasher, and that's about it for the day. For breakfast/lunch I took my leftover spinach and pasta salad, threw it in a pan and put alfredo sauce over it to wilt the lettuce. Pretty tasty! I didn't put dressing in the big bowl last night, so it heated nicely. I was thinking of Sarv when I started making it because it was still early, but by the time I got distracted several times, it was noon!
Nice to see you back Suzie, have a good trip. The Friday thread confused me too, but it doesn't take much, ya know. So we'll have two Fridays. Much better than two Mondays.
I'm going to vacuum. Then I'm going to sit down. I got tired holding that big can over the Weber. Another one of my grand schemes that was better in theory than in fact.
~~~~~ to all.

Sheila

Edited to add, Babs, I just love your mother! A wet kisser!! So funny! And a full moon coming up, oh boy!! That's probably what messed up the hyperlink for the Thursday page!

What a wonderful story, Babs, it was loads of fun to read and with much laughter

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi all,

No time to finish reading. Will try to catch up later. But have to comment about the orthotics. Kelly, do you have medical insurance that will cover any part of the orthotics? If so, why not get another pair? My medical insurance will cover 80% of one pair each year. The place I get mine done gave me the plaster mold. When I need new ones, I take it back and they are less expensive. I don't get a new pair every year, but neither do I wait until a pair wears out before I get a new one. I presently have three pair on the go and while I occasionally have to move them from one shoe to another, it's not too often. I think wrestling them in and out of shoes does more to break them down than anything else. BTW, the last time I got new orthotics, I took back one of the older pairs and they refurbished them for me at minimal cost.

Will try to pop in later and read everything above.

Babs, you write so wonderfully about your Mum and Da... Loved the house, probably lived in one like it as a child myself because I lived all over the place.

M5,
Lovely Garbage can,,,ROFLMBO

Ann,
I'll have to check into that. Bill's uncle makes orthotics and prosthetics. So, when I needed mine I had him do them. He gave me a great deal cause my insurance didn't work with his place at the time. I'll have to look into it though. I don't really think it's the orthotics. It's just that my calves, my ankles and my feet are swelling so much. My toes look like little pork sausages. And honestly my ankles and my feet have always been the only normal size thing on me. I always could see my ankle bones,,,,now I have to feel for where they are. I started a mew med about a month ago. Just read that one of the reactions to it may be swelling. I'm going to call my Dr. on Mon. and see what he says about it. I'l be really bummed if I have to come off the meds,,,they were helping me so much. Well, I'll just have to see what he says.

Kelly

Isn't that the most hideous garbage can you've ever seen?? LOL I'm leaving it there for DH to admire when he comes home. I'm hiding the cameras, he'd love to put this on his website in the garden and landscaping section.

M5, paint it another colour!

Kelly, I take a calcium-magnesium-potassium tablet to keep swelling down (and foot/leg cramps). Hard to find that combo in stores so I order them from Vita Cost.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello coffee klatchers. If I didn't spell that right you all know what it is, so I won't loose any sleep over it.

Babs, thanks for the delightful story, actually both of them. I'm glad that a dry day and your day off happened together. The natural flower bed sounds great, I know just what you are talking about, having lived over on the wet side of the mountains where those native plants are everywhere and they do make a nice bed with just a little effort. I can remember digging up ferns in the woods to bring home for my flower beds, oooof, they were heavy because of course I wanted the big bushy ones.

9Kitty, it will be a while before my honeysuckle blooms, it is just barely getting leaves. Yesterday I was trimming it where it hangs over the sidewalk too much. I have 2 of them, planted on both sides of the arbor over the sidewalk, they were reaching in from both sides and making it pretty narrow to walk through. I know I probably sacrificed some blooms, I tried to cut just the minimum off, and will prune more after they blossom. They are Halls Honeysuckles, white blooms with a yellow center, very fragrant, and hardy. I have seen some like yours in the area, mostly covering chain link fences.

susieq, so sad about your co-workers husband and the cancer. I hope they can get it all. I'm glad your son is getting his cast off at last. Have a nice trip to the wedding.

Oh golly, Miss Molly, that's a lot of daylilies! When they bloom you could charge admission, or have your own daylily festival.

Today is the day to do all the last minute stuff before leaving tomorrow. When I looked at the header saying Friday I thought I was a day late leaving for my ride, and would have to be driving half the night to get there. Wheeeewwww, we all gained a day! Probably though, some of you would rather have tomorrow be Saturday.

The house smells good, thanks to a pot of spaghetti sauce that I am stirring every few minutes. My hubby can eat leftovers this weekend. I try to make it easy for him, since he doesn't cook and sandwiches only go so far.

Meezer, great wrinkly looking garbage can! Thanks for the laugh. I can just see you toasting the can over your bbq and I bet if any neighbors saw you they were amused. Well, you never know until you try. Or have somebody else try for you. Now I can say for sure that I will never try to convert a garbage can to a rock. We have enough rocks anyhow, I could send you some but the postage would be a killer.

Elaine, you could look at the squirrels as a source of free protein, however they would be a bit tedeous to prepare enough for a meal. You could make some gumbo or stew, or bbq them. It would serve them right. I had to smile about trapping them and taking them to another neighborhood, somebody else would probably trap them and bring them back. Hmmm, the great squirrel swap..... LOL.

Lauri, how is Salsa today? I hope you will give us an update before I leave in the morning.

Achey feet, well, I'm glad to say that I haven't had much problem with that even though I have had broken bones. I get those cheap Dr Scholls arch supports and that seems to keep my feet happy. Of course, I am not on them all day like some of you, and in that case they might need more help.

Ok, one more stir on the spaghetti sauce and turn the heat way down. I need to get busy. Here's a wave if I missed you. ~~~~

Ann-Thanks for the tips about orthotics, as soon as my year is up I'll rush to get another pair! Then I can leave a pair in my "inside" shoes.

We had a fabulous day here, although a few minor setbacks, DD#1 failing in college and losing her scholarship, nasty letter from DBIL (d not meaning dear in this case) to my attorney accusing me of lying, fraud, and misrepresentation in trying to get rid of the real estate we inherited 18 years ago, nasty email from DBIL in which he forgot to erase messages to and from my brother in a forwarded message, problems from the guy working on the farm, DS flunking and agonizing about what to do college wise, now it's time to do taxes, do you think there will be good news?

Sorry for the rant, it was just a quick shopping list of aggravations, we are healthy, our pets are healthy, and winter's over, I am going to rejoice in Easter and all my blessings.

Among which I have to say, are you guys....

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

dmc,

Whoa, that's a lot to be dealing with,,,hope the kids can figure out what they want to do,,,,and DBIL,,,well, I won't say what I hope for there. Try to take it easy,,,I know. easier said than done.

Gotta go sit with my feet up and watch the tube,,,,have a killer headache

Elaine & Mary, have to laugh about the squirrel trips. My dad lives in a small town and is always live trapping squirrels and woodchucks and even a chipmunk or two. He takes them for a ride about 3 miles away and lets them go. I have been begging him to spray paint a mark on their back to see if they make it home again. Now he is asking what color would be best! LOL Wouldn't it be something if they did make it back to town. Must admit we have a simpler way of fighting the battle with these critters and don't have to worry if the will return.

Mary hope you have a great ride this weekend.

M'5 love the rock/can but you didn't fool me, better not patent it yet. Love the pic of Sammi.

Kelly I have one ankle that swells all the time too. Don't know why just the one but I do know if I cut down on eating carbs the swelling goes away. Course my ankles were the only thin thing about me till now. Now its ankle.

Darius, glad to see that you are posting again. Did you get the fridge fixed?

9Kitty, can't believe you pictures.......and I thought I was a zone 6. Does your honeysuckle smell? I had the kind that MaryE talks about but when we did some remodeling it got wacked! Sure did love its scent. There are some small pieces trying to come up, maybe I will get it growing again where it won't get into trouble.

Defoe, You make my mouth water talking about the crappies. We used to go up by the St. Lawrence River and bring them home by the ice chest full. Deep fried in a light beer batter. yum yum. Dad said that he caught a couple in my DB pond today but no size to them so threw them bac. Now they fish locally for them at night with lanterns.

Had to go to the drs. today and I lost 5# with out trying and 7# last month. New diabetic meds have cut my appetite and I find I don't eat for hours. I am so thankful, weight has always been my big problem. My blood sugars are still not the greatest but dr was so pleased with the loss and my telling her I feel like a different person that she has given me the OK on continuing it. Yippie Skippie.

Worked in the shop again today, inch by inch I may get there!! Did transplant some Nicotiana, coleus and snapdragons when I got home. DH is on the afternoon shift today so I didn't have to cook tonight!!!!!!

Better get something done inside now a good way to stay awake till he comes home. Hoping for another beautiful day tomorrow.

~~~~Joy
Kelly and dmc we posted about the same time.
Kelly I have to say a headache and aching feet. I hope you don't have a pain in middle too! Sorry just seemed like we all have pita's from time to time.
((((Dmc)))) sorry that life is heavy at such a dear time of year. Get out and get some more sunshine, it sure helps in counting our blessings and you sure are right about 'Coffe and..........' being a blessing.
Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)
Well the power is back on after being off forever or a few hours....Salsa is doiong the same and the vet will call me in the morning with a final determination...I don't think I want that phone call...I'll let ya all know after I talk to him. Could you add an extra prayer tonite all??? Thanks ...Lauri
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well, got the supper over, and the kitchen cleaned, read awhile, and checked out some other forums that I had missed today.
Kittymom, we all loose it from time to time. Don't worry about it, someone here will keep us straight about the day/date.
lauriewilson, I have already been praying for Salsa. Will say another prayer before I go to bed tonight. God knows that you are a good care giver, and maybe he will see fit that you take care of him and let him finish out his life with you.
dmc, there is a lot to be said for only children!!. There has been more than one time in my life that I wished that the older DB, and DS with just disappear!! I will add you and your situation to my daily prayer list. Nothing gives inspiration and determination but to have the kids get a job to finance college. If they pay for it, it is appreciated more.
Joyous, my DH fishes every day, somewhere. He fished for 6 hours today, and came home with nothing. They caught plenty, but not legal. Not worth risking the confiscation of a new boat for a fish.
Mary, have a good ride this weekend. If I go away, I have to cook in advance also, and DH is a stranger in the kitchen. I know if I got hungry enough, I could cook something!! Maybe we just make it too easy for them.
susieq, so sorry about the coworkers husband. I hope that it is not cancer, and that he can procede with the treatments.
Babs, Yikes, I wondered about the day also. Your stories about Mum,. and Da, sure are funny. I would just die, if my mother every told me anything about their intimate moments. You know that is a subject that many adult children like to hear about the parents. Although if we were being real, we would realize that something had to happen, or we wouln't be here. Senior sex Eueyee!!
M5, I hate to tell you this, but that looks exactly like a garbage can that the trash people ran over in my driveway last week!! And to think that you spent hours over the grill, and then painted the drated thing. I will send you mine, if you want. I have been wanting to do the hypertufa, so maybe that is where you need to head next!!
Well, I have to get this body headed for the bedroom, have a full day tomorrow. Since DGD wasn't here for her birthday last week, doing the delayed birthday thing. She has requested a cook out for Saturday night, then Easter on Sunday. So I get double whammied, birthday gifts and easter gifts too.
Maria, Viann, Darius, Molly, Oz, 101, and others that I have not directly replied to ~~~ waving at ya. Haven't heard from Bal in a while, hope he stops in soon. Hey, McCool, how is the cold? Well, I am off, good night, and hope you have a restful one.
Hi all
Well, the DH and I went out for supper tonight. Came back home and have been busy downloading some Ebooks to my Book Port and studying some users manuals. My brain is fried so thought I'd pop over here before I lay me down to sleep. LOL
Lauriwilson, am sure saying prayers for your horse. I'm with Defoe ... I think God gives us our animals and doesn't mind at all when we ask for prayers for them too. I must admit I got funny looks when I put my dog on the prayer list at church one time, though. But hey ... she's special! What can I say. We thought she had cancer, but everything came back okay. Sure scared us, though.
Oh Joy, that's just great about the weight drop! Maybe now that it's spring and I'm not in the house so much I'll follow you and ViAnn. ;)
Hi Babs ... had to LOL at your Mum story! My mouth watered at the mention of key lime pie! MMMM
Defoe ... I vote we have a ciber fish fry with some of the fish your DH catches. I'll bring some slaw! LOL
Well, I didn't sleep good last night at all, so I'm going to go soak in a hot tub, get my book and crash. We're having septic problems again, so are having the tank pumped and a new pump put in in the a.m.
Y'all sleep tight. ~~~Elaine
Hi Defoe ... we posted at the same time! LOL
I forgot to say ... DMC so sorry to hear about everything and you're *most* certainly in my prayers tonight.
Suzie, am also remembering your friend. Thanks for keeping us up to date. He and his wife will be in my thoughts and prayers.
