Canadian Contingent @ Dave's Garden

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

~~~ waving back echoes - plan to head up in June but will take the angle road to Regina to my DB. Hope to meet Pam there. :D Just a quick overnight there and then onto Edmunchuk to 2 bros and a sis. A couple of days there and on to Surrey to another bro, sis and niece's wedding. We'll take the stateside route home - hopefully cheaper gas! ha ha! This all depends on whether my green card arrives in time. It expired 3 years ago this month. The extension expired in 12-04 and still no card. The senator's office has been looking into it for me and said it should be here any day but I've heard that lots in the past so it's an unknown. grrrr!
broots - that had to be major culture shock - Toronto to Cochrane - what was up there that u moved for? do tell, I'm intrigued! :)
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Kooger :)
trailingon try typing in just your town's name and see if that works. If it doesn't use the contact link and ask the administrator to enter it into the system. That's what Ginny did and they entered her town pretty fast.
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Joan I should have been more specific as to where you'd have to go to change your location.
1st you have to click on your *My Frappr* tab .... circled below. Then, under *My Location* click the blue link so it says *not in the U.S.*. Arrow pointing to it.
Joan may have figured hers out already but thought this might help others too.
Hi kooger. Would you believe that I had just finished school but was still living at home & my parents & siblings moved here. What makes it worse was I had a job at Bell Telephone if I wanted it but my Dad was pretty determined that I was moving to Cochrane. I had a job in Cochrane before I moved as I had been up earlier (I did not find a 12 hr train ride too impressive)& applied for a job. Then the following year the family moved back to Toronto. If only I had known. I stayed behind & managed fine.
Hope you have a great visit this summer. Sounds like family get together time.
Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)
Thanks, ur story made me chuckle...they moved back and u stayed... lol good one!
Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)
I've just figured it out Pam, and there's no map available. lol
Joan
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Joan I guess your only option then is to adopt Mississauga or email them like Ginny did.
dobie, ON(Zone 3a)
Hi Broots,
Yes Dobie is near Kirkland about 10 minutes east of it. Let me know if your coming down this way. Could meet for coffee.
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
BTW I have noticed that the map marker on your own *My Frappr* page stays where you put it. The marker on the map that we all share isn't effected by where we put our own marker on the *My Frappr* page.
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Marilyn (cybercrone) you're on the map now. :)
I have now joined too, except my city doesn't exist in their system, and I'm trying to have that changed. Matt from California has also appeared as my "friend". I must have made a typo when I joined up though because I cannot now get back in. I've sent an email asking for help.
Happy Monday everyone.
Christine
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Happy to see you made it Christine! :) Our Ontario members will be keeping them busy mapping Ontario more specifically. :)
Orangeville, ON(Zone 4b)
Please forgive me. I decided to remove myself from Frappr since I came across photos on there that just clash with my old-fashioned, prudish nature. Anything like that just kinda bugs me. Sorry.
Hi =)
Well, I am a certified (by my husband) hostaholic..I have about 100 cultivars right now which isn't nearly enough...I love to garden-shade gardening mostly.. and in a few weeks we are moving from a city-sized lot to a 2 acre place...and it is for the garden room, I am not ashamed to admit!!
Thanks for the welcome :)
Salt Lake City, UT(Zone 6a)
Sorry had to join - little home sick - Jagonjune are you as heart broken as I am?
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Welcome home MQN! Ü re: Jagonjune ....... she bleeds blue and orange. All of Canada mourned but our Lynn ....... ;S
Salt Lake City, UT(Zone 6a)
Who is this Lynn? grumble mumble, saw the prime minister showed up but not wearing a jersey, flame fan....oh well not something to lose one's head over....
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Lynn is our sorely missed, and noticeably absent, jagonjune (who is prolly draped in black from head to toe right now). She, I'm sure, shares your sentiments (re: our Prime Minister's team of choice ;).
Warkworth, ON(Zone 5a)
Hi, folks:
Well, it took a while to get here, but I finally made it. I kept getting whisked away to another Warkworth, near Sandspit, New Zealand! Not sure if that one is in the 5a zone!
Feeling just a little jetlagged, but happy to be here! Best, earthnut.
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Welcome Home to you as well Earthnut! Now that sounds like a wonderful place to be whisked away to.......is it connected to your job? AND are you lucky enough to spend every winter in New Zealand (assuming here that Warkworth, NZ has a more moderate winter)?
Warkworth, ON(Zone 5a)
Lilypon, alas, the whisking away process was just a cybervoyage, courtesy of the Frappr folks who, upon reading the word 'Warkworth,' ignored the other details in my address and insisted on plonking me down in New Zealand. After several attempts, I gave up and wrote in Cobourg, our nearest town to the south. Frappr's happy. I'm happy. Curious though that they chose the Warkworth in New Zealand, and ignored the one in England, which is the one our ancestors 'borrowed' for this community.
Best, earthnut.
Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)
I do seem to be absent a lot this year. Not intentionally just toooo much going on and it being the best year in memory for gardening I seem to be spending most available (not much) time just keeping up with watering and weeding and whatever.
Yes i was unhappy for the boys in copper and blue but the canes played a better game in the 7th so they deserved it
selfishly i figured if they cost me that much (no one did anything playoff nites except go to the bar or order in) they should have won but like farming there is always next year.
business this year is either challenging (glass half full concept) or wickedly frustrating (glass half empty concept)
there should be no one in this province collecting ei
almost every business you pass has a help wanted sign in front and wages have moved about 25% in a year (and teens rarely work anymore)
Salt Lake City, UT(Zone 6a)
Heard the economy was booming - with oil prices as they are - no wonder. Thanks for the whiff of home:+}
Hello All, I put myself in Toronto... But the trees that I grow in my back yard end up outside Antigonish NovaScotia.... I leave Fri. a.m. for thankgiving weekend with a dozen pawpaws, half a dozen magnolias, 4 redbuds, 3 London plane trees, half a dozen golden rain trees, a dozen pyramidal English oak and about 10 tree peony. The rest will have to wait for spring. Oh, I forgot the shagbark hickory, they are very small but the tap root is trying to reach China. Robb
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
Hey Robb and welcome aboard!
Your ? Antigonish NovaScotia's yard is going to be a southern tropical paradise. Did you purchase some land there?
My mother has a property that is on the water... it is about 17 acres, and has been in the family since 1922. The trees are an investment in time and energy but I expect the property to remain in our hands. It is far from tropical, but we can reliably grow peaches and grapes. Robb
North Augusta, ON
Hi everybody,
I am Lee Anne, just a hop north of Brockville, Ont. I have had to share my perennial beds lately..first with my Mom, who is an avid gardener, when she came to live with me. Then, with my hubby, another avid gardener ( I discovered after we met). So, to avoid the "too many cooks in the kitchen" dilemma, we have unofficially divided the beds into 3 ( Moms bed's, Hubbys bed's, and my bed's) So far, so good, but I dare not bring home a new plant that cannot be divided 3 ways, LOL. And, if something goes missing, I know it isn't too far away ;)
A pleasure to meet so many Canadians here at DG. I don't feel so alone anymore.
Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)
Welcome Lee Anne! Glad to have you aboard. I can't even imagine having to compete with two other gardeners for my gardening space :-) I'm just lucky my hubby likes plants but is scared to death of actually touching them in case he "breaks" something. Do you have any pictures of your gardens you can share with us? We'd love to see them.
I just signed up, but I tried to edit and all it did was start a new whatever.... in short there's now two listings for me--one I don't want the picture to (a mistake) and the other I want to change the email address. What now?
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
I'll take a look and see what I can do Maggie.
Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)
1st though a ?.....what name did you sign up under? I scrolled through the names but I can't find Maggie.
