Coffee and...For Tuesday, April 11, 2006 =^..^=
Am I first? Hi Everyone!
I'll be back later once I have time to finish reading from yesterday.
Have a good day.
Ann
Well I'm on first.....Morning all, hope things are going better for you than me. Have to get into the vet TODAY, even if its on an emergency basis. Salsas leg has gotten worse and he was having a hard time putting any weight on it late last night, so I put a soft cast on him and uped the bute. The DMSO does not seem to be working, I'm afraid he may have something broken in the ankle or some major joint damage and I don't really want to think about that. Well I've got to get some laundry done so I have jeans to wear today, My dryer has shrunk most all of the others and I am down to 3 dirty pairs.
~~Waves to all incoming, have a great day, Lauri
JUst good morning right now and to remind you of the cookies I made yesterday!
Sarv, are you still sleeping?? It is another beautiful spring day, threw some balls for Samson, he won't leave me alone till I do
So sorry about your horse, Lauri
Morning everyone- I am fighting a headache - in the same spot I get migraines - hope it ain't so!!
Yes, my mom was in better shape when she returned than when she left!! Amazing- she is much more active in Fla. DSF had lost weight and seemed very exhausted - however, he is the one who drives the entire way, so he probably was pooped!! Mom whispered that she didn't think DSF could drive down next year - a first for her to admit that! My DB will drive them down.
46 deg outside this morning, but thin clouds - hope they burn off early - I want to get out in the gardens and clean them out.
GG - ouch that neuo stuff sounds uncomfortable. And not having stress- ya right. Stress is my middle name it seems...
McC - hope the sniffles leave asap - no fun having that junk when the weather is turning nice. I don't have an answer for ya regarding the seedlings - sorry. I took my stuff from the house right to the greenhouse and they haven't suffered, but we had several days of cloudy weather.
KG - I don't envy you dealing with a sis like that. And being so far away certainly doesn't make it easy to deal with.
Maria, I remember one summer I sat in my rocker practically all summer with a sour look on my face mad that my life hadn't turned out like I wanted it too. Looking back, I'm sure I had depression, but when you are down there, it is hard to go get help. Looking back on the wonderful parts of our lives is the best -that's why I take so many pictures!! I am making an album of just my gardens. When I depart, I expect the pics to go with me!
Well, I have a chair massage scheduled for this morning - plus leftover meat loaf for breakfast. Life is good...
Sarv, strange you should mention about taking pictures with you, I thought of giving one of me to my husband for the journey where ever it may be but being agnostic about most things I thought this was kind of silly but now I wish I had. Sorry you have a headache I used to get migraines a lot, on the scale from 1 to 10 it is a 10 plus, hope you won't start one
Hi Ann~~~~~and every one else
Good morning everybody. It is a chilly start to the day, but the sun is shining, and the temps are supposed to be in the high 70's. Will be out after I put some paperwork in it's place.
Lauriewilson, sorry about the horse, hope it is a sprain, rather than a fracture, they are tough to deal with. I chuckled at the dryer shrinking jeans, I know it does to some extent, but we can't exect to stuff 2-3 more per week into the same size jeans!!
Maria, I believe Samson is your alarm clock. It's good that you get the play out of the way early, so both of you can move on to other things.
Sarv, if DM is saying SF can't drive next year, evidently she has some good reasons for saying that. The elderly and driving sometimes doesn't mix. Sure hope that the pain in not a migraine. Just think positivie thoughts!!
Viann, good to see you (in passing) this morning.
Gonna tackle some paperwork, then out to the gardens.
I will be back later. Happy gardening to everybody.
Almost forgot....... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MCCOOL. Hope you have a great day.
Oh my goodness,MCool, forgot your birthday too, weather wise it is a good one so I hope your day will be the same with lots of sunshine in your heart and for all the days to come
Happy Birthday, Kelly!
Didn't see McCool on the birthday list, but if it's yours too, Have a Great One!
Hi All,
Gorgeous, sunny, beautiful day. Was supposed to be at clinic all day for annual physical,,,but I called in sick! Now, it'll be 2 months before I can get in,,,oh, well,,,fine by me. So, I didn't book any appointments for the day. Wonder if I can get away with a me day?????? Now that Bill isn't underfoot,,,LOL Thanks God!!!!!!
Ann,
Hope your book was good.
laurie,
I'm sure hoping and praying that Salsa is o.k,,,,that nothing major is wrong with the poor thing. Hate to see animals hurt. Please let us know how he's doing when you see the vet.
Maria,
Thanks for the cookies,,,they're going great with my coffee. LOL Samson is now trained to get you to throw balls for him first thing in the morning,,,LOL,,,It's amazing how fast they can train us.,,,LOL
sarv,
Sure hope it doesn't go into a migrane. Those are beyond awful. Glad you had a nice visit with your Mom and SD. Yes, the neuro stuff isn't pleasant. I'm hoping it'll get better now that Bill got his job back,,,,,, the stress will be a little less.
dcat,
Hope you get your paperwork out of the way quickly and can get outside in the gardens.
Elaine,
LOL,,,,,,You read right,,, Thank-You,,,don't stop mentioning birthdays,,,LOL see you after you get some coffee in you.
McCool,
Is it your birthday and somehow it didn't get on the list?
Well, with a free day, I'm planning on getting a bunch of stuff done. Ach, who am I kidding,,,I'll prolly start taking customers when the phone rings,,,would feel too guilty if I didn't.
Hi to everyone who hasn't checked in yet. I'll bbl

Cleaning debris out of the upper garage, yuck BBL
Sheila
Hi Lauri - I beat you to be first. Na na na na na! LOL
Going back to yesterday to catch up.
Mary, good plan to ride Patch regularly. Hope it goes well.
tgif - pretty Clematis. Hope it continues to get better and better.
And don't worry about responding. Just check in when you have time.
Kelly - did you change to appointment? Glad Bill is back to work.
Carol - as you and your family deal with the mess your brother left behind, keep remembering that we're here for you. Feel free to unload as you need to.
dmc - I took at look at the pictures you posted, but lost track. How many horses do you actually have? If I come to look at your farm, I'll have to bring my DD because I'm NOT horsey person, but she sure is.
Re the International Viola Congresses, I've been to all the North American ones since 1981 and all the International ones since 1992 with the exception of 1994. For awhile I was treasurer of the International Viola Society and during those years, I got help with travel expenses which was nice. Over the years, I've developed a wonderful group of viola friends from all over the world.
Joy, I thought it might be out of Syracuse. That airport is quite easy to get to off of I81 isn't it? I bet the Montezuma wildlife refuge is interesting. I've never actually been there except where the Thruway goes through part of it.
The Windmill sounds like a good day trip destination from Rochester or the area around there. I wasn't aware of it. I know the area just west of Cayuga Lake quite well from communing between Ithaca and Rochester when I was at Ithaca College, but west of there, not quite so well. Interesting to note the spread of wineries in the region. There were just a few in the late 60's when I was there.
Sarv - thanks for the recommendation of James Patterson mysteries. I love mysteries. Don't like to read anything too serious (too often, at least) when I've got so many other things on my plate. Sorry about your lost post. Looking forward to puppy pics.
McCool, I'm a cat person too, except maybe for my grand-dog who arrived before the grandtwins did.
But I agree, most dogs know it.
Bonnie, speaking of first homes - when DH and I were first married we lived in a basement apartment in Quebec City. It was one block off the Grand-Allée and just across from the entrance to the Plains of Abraham battleground park. Walking distance from the old city. It was under doctor's offices; so quiet at night - or so we thought. Turned out there were rats in the building. We never saw them, but they would thump around under the raised floors and fight and squeal at night. We wrote letters to the newspaper (in French) and had some nuns call to say they were praying for us. We complained to the city health department which said"oh, there have always been rats there". We came to the realization that we had the worst landlord (slumlord) in Quebec City. I even got good at telling him off in French. LOL Eventually, we got a lawyer and broke the lease and moved to a new three story walk up in the suburbs - top floor. We laugh now.
Susan, keep your fingers crossed and mouth shut in regard to DS and GF. (At least that's what we do for 31 yr old DD and BF). Maybe it will all work out.
Lauri, I'm keeping my fingers crossed re Salsa's leg.
Maria, youmean there are cookies left? I was good all week; so I can afford to eat one now.
Sarv, glad parents made it back safely and glad DM is in good shape. Hope DSF's condition is only exhaustion from driving and that after a few days rest he'll be back to normal. Hope you avoid a migraine.
Happy birthday to Kelly and to McCool too if it applies. Have a great day b-day or not.
Finally caught up although I'll do a refresh before I post (and see if I can lose this one? NOT!)
Went to Weight Watchers this morning and am officially down 1.5 pounds! Paying the money works.
(That and the fact that half the aquafit group is there to check up on me).
Last evening we had the third meeting of the church committee to decide how to spend the money. Don't plan to continue meeting so often, but it was the only night for the rest of April that worked. Next meeting will be May 1. I got to chair the meeting last night and TRY to keep them on track as we discussed the 160+ (4 1/2 pages) suggestions of what to do with the money. We went through them indicating those that were really guidance suggestions (how to spend rather than on what), those that were not our mandate at all, those that were already in the church budget or which should be referred to standing committees, and those that we would keep for further discussion. All in all, a fruitful meeting, but it went on a bit longer than we had hoped. At one stage, I looked at my watch and noted that we had a couple of agenda items that HAD to be discussed; so we chose to move ahead to those items and return to discussing the suggestions later.
Warm today. Will be shirt-sleeve warm a bit later. I think the last of the snow in the back yard might go.
I may try to get into my veggie garden which has a pile of the dirt I got for the new garden in the middle of it and see how far I have to dig before I get to ice. It will all have to be spread before I can plant even early things like lettuce.
The crocuses were blooming in force yesterday and a cool night should mean that I have even more today as not all have developed buds yet. I took some pics, but they are on the other computer.
Some years ago - maybe 10- I don't remember, I planted some Fritilaria. They NEVER bloomed and most disappeared the next year. But one has come up faithfully every year really early behind my crocuses. It has never bloomed, but this year, one stalk has a large flower bud on it. Surprise!
Have a good day.
Ann
Hi all
Well, finally made it back! :)
Lauri~ sure hope your poor horse will be okay. Please let us know what you find out. I haven't been on a horse in ever so long but use to love to ride when I was young.
Sarv~ glad the parents made it back safe. I worry about mine when they're on the road, also. My sis has already started taking them on a lot of long distance trips. They haven't driven to my house in a couple of years now.
Maria~ yeah ... those babies sure know how to train us! LOL Give Samson a big hug for me. So glad there were still cookies left. :)
Ann~ that's amazing about the Fritilaria. Bet it's pretty. Oh, and don't worry about the 1-1/2 lbs. I found it for you! LOL
Meezers~ don't work too hard. :)
Well, having company tonight so better get up from here. Hi to McCool, DMC, Defoe, Dianne, Carol, Babs, Darius, the guys and all those I've missed!!!
~~~Elaine
just posted some pictures in pets, but had anawful time finding that forum where would I find it? under what listing?
Maria,
On the top tab here, click on "Home Talk" From there scroll down looking in the left column of listings for "Leisurely Pursuits" in that heading you will find the "Pets" forums. Make sure when you click on that one, find the place at the top to add it to your watched/favorites and you'll never have trouble finding it again.
Molly
:^)))
Two birthdays in one day - bring on the layer cake!!! Happy BD to both of you - put your feet up and demand to be treated like a queen!! Enjoy your day!!
Who's sending pounds thru the mail -I got a big delivery!! I caught sight of myself hula hooping this morning and it wasn't a pretty sight - I'm swinging that hoop around my mid section and I have a big blob of blubber above and below the hoop. I am wearing a waist line in my mid section tho!! Hooray for Vi for dropping weight- money does talk!! LOL
I just finished off the chinese salad (leftover from last night) I had a bowl for breakfast and one for lunch -now it is all gone!
Went to h/p and had my chair massage- ohhh I wish it would have lasted an hour. The massage person told me her hands got sore from doing it thru clothing- I offered to strip for her! I love the oil feel - plus I am a dried up prune in the winter. She told me not to bother stripping...darn Anyhow, got a coupon for $10 off another one (this one was free - she's trying to drum up business!) Maybe for my BD!!
I had planned on working in the garden, but I am just exhausted today. I cleaned like a wild woman yesterday, cooked, and then spent a couple of hours pulling weeds-I think I used some muscles that hadn't been used because today I am all achy. But the headache subsided and this is a definate plus.
Vi -my fritilaria bloom faithfully - they aren't tall, just about 12 inches. hmm, maybe they aren't the same as yours . Mine are nodding and speckled. My hellebores are in glorious bloom - first time for them - they are all the same dusty pink color, but gorgeous still. Hope they drop a ton of seeds and I am fruitful next year!
Time to close my eyes for 10 min.
My day is NOT off to a good start. We brought my freezer here (nearly full) and today when I opened it, there was water dripping from the top just inside the door. Further inspection shows the door is warped with a gap in the seal at the top corner almost as wide as my pinky finger. Grrrrrr.
I did some online research and it appears the door can be adjusted. After I inspected the hinges, I have doubts I can do it myself even as handy as I am. Guess that means an expensive repair call. Plus losing a lot of stuff in the freezer. Can you say "Money out the door?"
money out the door AND down the drain - what a way to start the day. I just saw the "in limbo' by your name - LOL good one!!
Thank you, Molly, had to go to my own info to finally find it lol but now I am with it, thanks to you!
Sarv, you hoola hoop, what fun, I would be afraid of doing that my back would be more out of whack then it is now, but wish I could....and what is a Chinese salad? Don't think I ever had one
Darius , how awful , wonder how that happenend, some one was not carefull loading it?
Don't let anyone fool you, 3:30 am is WAY to early to get up and drive an hour and a half, tour a wildlife refuge and then back home by 9:30 am. I was absolutely whipped when we got home this morning. We crashed on the couch and I finally came to at noon. But son was deposited and by the internet he arrived in St. Thomas almost 20 minutes early. Now to see how long it takes for him to call.
Dmc, thanks for the nice words, market has been a second home for many years but unfortunately "politics" have worked their way in and it is not quite the fun that it used to be.
McCool, I know exactly what you are saying. DH says that anymore the shop is a good tax write off. May be looking for a buyer but hard to sell something that seems past its time.
Maria, we absolutely love this area, I grew up in Dresden just 10 miles up the road from where we have lived for 30 years. Every morning I wake up to the view of the sun rising over Seneca Lake. Can't get much better, well maybe the ocean but I'm not complaining.
Bonnie I should run down and give mine a try, if it works I should do it everyday just to keep both of us in practice. If we swapped that means we could visit !! Sounded like an invite to me. LOL
Son just called, he is waiting on his sister, Julie, now tell me something new! He had empty seats beside him on both of the planes down which he enjoyed.
Have not read all and it is to nice to stay inside hope to catch up tonight.
~~~~~~~~~~~Joy
Well, after getting the paperwork done, was out and about at about 9:30, stayed outside until 2:00. First I scattered some more wildflower seeds in my wildflower bed, then used the Miracid on the Magnolias and azaleas, then used my Mantis on the new perennial bed, and sowed some seed there. Then took the Mantis, and tilled a spot beside the garage where, I sowed some cox comb and zinnia, and some sunflower seed. Tilled a spot for my cannas. Didn't actually put them in, but will in a day or two. Put some bone meal on the Iriis, then went to DM's and planted a row in the vegetable garden of flower seed,that she can see from her front porch. I stopped for a bite to eat, and rested. After supper, I will till the bed where the dahlias go. The reason I am being manic, we are supposed to have rain tonight and tomorrow, and want to get some things in the ground before the rain.
Joyous, Yes, that was an invitation, if you would like. My Mantis performed very well today. DH started it first this morning, but it started every time(not on the first pull) for me. I just don't have the uumph to pull hard enough I guess.
Darius, how horrible. Hope you can get the hinges adjusted and everything is okay.
Viann, what a full day and night you had yesterday. How in the world do you crowd all those things in? My 24 hours can't accommodate that much.
Sarv, so you overdid it yesterday. Well, at least you went to h/p today, so it wasn't exactly for nought. What is a chinese salad? Sounds good.
101, I am with you, I don't do anything before coffee. Besides, I have to check the newspaper, see what's happened during the night, and make sure there isn't anyone I know in the obits. Have fun with the company tonight.
lauriewilson, are you back from the vet? Give us an update as soon as you can.
GG, sorry I didn't realize it was your birthday also. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Congrats on Bill back at work, so maybe a day alone was a birthday present!!
Meezer, hope the garage depbis didn't trap you and keep you hostage all day.
susieq ~~~at you.
Maria, I will have to make it over to pets to see some pictures of Samson?? How did I guess that.
Hi Molly~~~ And to anyone else I didn't name.
I am off to the kitchen to get something ready to eat. I have cooked a pork loin, now to find something to go with it.
I will be back after the kitchen clean up tonight.
Kelly-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Guess you already got your best present ;-). Here I came all this way looking for cake, too!
McCool-Happy Birthday too if indeed it is your birthday, otherwise, Happy Day!
Lauri-Hoping so hard here that Salsa will be okay, my stomach is knotted up for you (as if that helps, right?)
Ann-Well I remember when someone suggested just assigning a letter to your current weight and we could report how much we'd lost from there. Well, I'm at W+5....kinda discouraging, maybe with the weather getting better I'll be more active. So I respect your weight loss....A LOT!
darius-How's the weather in limbo? Sorry about the freezer. Sometimes you just can't win for losing, it seems.
Joy-too bad about politics, although it seems things can only be good for just so long before somebody has to start meddling right? It sure looks like an enjoyable place. Hope the paint color grows on you.
dcat-Wow, you've been going, you better not hurt yourself! As long as you don't get hurt, there are few things more satisfying than sitting with a cup of tea on a rainy day once everything's planted, and watching nature do all the work watering it!
Carol- I hope you and your family are doing okay
Ann-Sorry about all the pictures! It was fun putting them together. I have 4 horses. Can you imagine how unsufferable I'll be with pictures if I ever have grandkids? LOL. I do not think I could tolerate rats.
m5-You're ambitious, good for you....
Elaine~~~waving in case you check back in! Some of your warm weather finally got here, thanks! LOL
Off to look for Samson pictures, hi to anyone I might have missed~~~~~
Holy cow, it's 4 pm already. I did kind of get trapped ...what a mess, all the dead leaves that blew in over winter, had to move my car out side and get out the shop vac, couldn't figure out how to make it blow instead of suck, so swept the big stuff out and then used the vac for the dust. Then got out a bucket and suds, cleaned the salt residue off the concrete, dragged out the hose and washed it down the floor drain....then came in made a chicken sandwich, ate while reading a couple of chapters in my latest book, went to the P.O. to mail our tax returns, came home and fell on the sofa. Whew. Oh, and I cleaned the dead leaves out from the French Lavender.....new buds on the roses, and several shrubs.
Now I need to get the vac out and do the living room, and then I'm quitting for the day! Just wanted to drop in and let you know I didn't get buried by the garage junk,
Waving to everybody and too pooped to respond individually,but you know I am reading everything and thinking of all of you.
Back to work.
Sheila
dmc at W+5 - YOU CAN DO IT! I KNOW you can. I'm now at about W+15 (more than that by WW, but I'm 3 pounds heavier by the time I get there fully dressed.)
I've got a chicken-spinach lasagna in the oven. Needed to use up some chicken breasts I never got frozen; so I cooked them. One I sliced and used in the lasagna. The other is chopped up and in the freezer.
Just occurred to me that I promised a pic of my crocuses. I'll go fetch it off the other computer.
Ann
I just can't stand it in here. 2 hours ago I put some jerked chicken in the oven to roast and it smells wonderful.
Jeremy and I have been working on the sprinklers. We bought 7 new garden hoses today, 5 click-click sprinklers, 1 oscillating and 3 diverter cut off valves. Probably got another thing or two but can't remember.
So now we have 4 click-click sprinklers for the lawn in the back yard. 2 spinklers for the veggie garden, 1 for the elephant ear garden, 2 for the plants in the front yard, oh my, one for the tater bed, and last but not least 1 for the daylily bed I don't have yet.
We did get a bit wet running through the sprinklers trying to get them set right for everything. But it cooled us down. The wind hasn't stopped blowing all day. We did have a lot of rain on Sunday, or was it Saturday. But it dries up pretty quickly in the wind.
The dogs are all quite happy together. I'm going to take all three girls out tomorrow to let them pee in the veggie garden. I will also put their dog fur out of the vacume cleaner bag into net bags and plant them around the veggie garden. Whatever was eating the lettuce, is now eating the bell pepper plants.
Dinner now and after that we must make some banana pudding with the wafers in it. Yummy, want some? have a seat. There's plenty to go round.
Molly
:^))
I'm in my jammies already. Spent the afternoon raking garden beds and then slurping them up with the lawn mower - got 12 bags again....phew. What a dirty job- I was just covered with dirt. Came in and got cleaned up and hopped into my bed-wear stuff. DH is making spaghetti for dinner. I offered to go to Wendy's, but he nixed that.
Molly -that's a load of sprinklers!! Hope your well doesn't go dry! Banana pudding...would you believe I've never had that before? Am I sheltered or what?? Glad the girls are getting along. I have something eating my chives...grrr need to put some barrior around them.
We are expecting rain tonight, so I put fertiizer on my flower beds. Rain tomorrow too. Think I will start some more seeds and read. I need a day to get all the gardening kinks out!
Chinese salad is really easy. Just a bag of chopped up cabbage (or you can chop up chinese cabbage), 6 green onions, 2 pkgs ramen noodles, toasted almonds and then a homemade dressing. It's always a hit!!
Someone from here sent me tons of calla lilies last summer/fall? I can't remember who it was, but they are growing to beat the band- really huge things!! Many thanks!!
DH just brought me dinner, so I need to sign off so I don't have spaghetti slopped on my computer!!
Hi All,
My day was just not long enough. Managed to get beat the laundry monster a bit, shower, dress, do dishes, do some homework for the hosta co-op If it goes, and took a nap,,,wanted to get way more done than that. Guess I shouldn't have taken the nap...LOL
ThankYou all for all the birthday wishes. Was a good day.
Ann,
Always took appointments,,,will take walk-ins also,,,if time permits. Ewe,,,with the rat apartment,,,Congratulations on the weight loss,,,good for you!
Elaine,
Have fun with the company tonight.
sarv,
Wish there was a layer cake. I don't know about the pounds,,,but I've been finding them too. The massage sounds wonderful. Abolutely treat yourself fo your birthday. Glad the headache went away.
Darius,
Grrrrr with the freezer. Hope you on't lose too much stuff. What a pita! The door on our got left open just a hair, (Bill doesn't always make sure it's closed, will never admit it but blamed it on frost keeping it from closing) Had to throw most things out. Made me so mad. Hope you can get yours fixed for a reasonable amount. Also meant to say,,,,Hope things are good between you and your sister.
Joy,
Yes, that's way to early,,,,but glad your DS made it safely.
dcat,
Whew,,,you sure Did get a lot done today. Hope the rain comes as predicted and gives everything a good start. Thank-You, yes, that was a wonderful b-day present. Last night he asked what I wanted for my birthday,,,told him I got it Mon. morning about 9:30. Then told him to get out there and fix the darn cherub that keeps falling upside down on her swing,,,LOL
dmc,
Thank,,,I was hoping for cake also but Gran gave me salad instead,,,LOL stories at the bottom.
M5,
Whew,,,you had a really busy day,,,but it is a good feeling when you're finished and can see something accomplished. Take a break now.
Molly,
Sounds like you've really got everything covered as far as sprinklers go. Great. Glad all the kids are getting along well.
My Gran bakes everyone in our family their favorite cake for their b-day. Have told her the last couple of years that I Really don't want a cake,,,don't need it. This morning she showed up with what I Thought was a cake. I thought Lord, why won't she listen to me? She handed me a cool whip container and said she didn't put these on yet so they wouldn't get soggy. Looked in the container and there was fried bacon pieces,,,,she made me 7 layer salad as my cake,,,,ROFLOL,,,, LOVE IT She told me, "You don't need cake, so I made you the salad you like". Ah, Gran,,always there for a little moral support,,,,LOL
Well, better get something else done. Have a huge day in the Salon tomorrow,,,busy and long. So, I want to get a few more things done tonight.
bbl,
Kelly
grrrr target practice.....
I can say they are beautiful because they aren't standing in my yard and eating my tulips!
Made a stirfry with leftover filet mignon, turned out pretty tasty, DH made two lunches to freeze for work. He hates the cafeteria food. Feel better now that my tummy is full. Picked up ice cream today so i wouldn't run out and get desperate. The Edy's was 2 half gallons for $6, so I got four.
Darius, is it possible to just replace the gasket yourself on the freezer? Usually you can get the gasket and a tool for installation on one of those appliance sites on the 'net. I know you could do it. Also, try heating the dented part of yours with a hair dryer, it might spring back into shape. I had one replaced once and after I saw the guy do it I was so disgusted, I could have done it myself and I'm no handy andy.
Glad everyone had a good day, I'm heading for the couch and some mindless t.v. or else, pick up the book I was reading, and maybe finish it tonight. ~~~ to all, see you tomorrow.
Sheila
LOL Sheila
M5, the gasket is not warped nor damaged. Just somehow in moving the freezer 5 times in 2 years, the whole door got askew. I have replaced refrig gaskets, an easy job if one is patient.
Molly, all those watering devices sound like a labor saving idea! Can't wait to see how everything grows.
Hi all,
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I checked my home page and found that I hadn't set it, but, yes, today IS my birthday. (Didn't even know that I HAD a home page until someone kindly told me that I could put a link to my website on it.)
GG, glad that you got to enjoy some of your birthday. I was wondering today if you ended up working too. I didn't mind all that much, though it WAS a beautiful day here. I'm still trying to shake this rotten bug, so was not up for a whole lot anyway. I wouldn't want to go out anywhere looking like I do at the moment (just call me Rudolph, he couldn't possibly have a nose any redder than mine is right now.) Thought your salad "cake" was a great idea!
Bonnie and Sheila, now you're both making me feel like a slug. Where do you get all that energy? Glad you both got so much accomplished though. It really is a good feeling.
Darius, hope there wasn't much (if any) spoilage in your freezer. DH and I fixed the door on our refrigerator and I wouldn't have thought that we could do it. It was so out of whack that we had a small brook running across the kitchen floor. DH has a DIY book that explained how to replace the gasket and straighten the panels on the door. It took us two tries, but really wasn't all that hard.
Maria, oh dear, the deer! I don't know what to say except that maybe some of the Samson hair that you vacuum up would deter them, or perhaps some blood meal or cougar urine (you can buy this kind of stuff from organic gardening places). We have deer nearby also, but so far they mostly stay away from my plants. I've occasionally seen them way back in the neighbor's yard or crossing through ours in the early morning.
Carol (dr), still thinking of you and hope that you're taking care of yourself. Please don't hesitate to use this space to unload when you need to.
Molly, what the heck is a "click-click sprinkler"? I could envy you all that space and all those plants --- until I think, "yeah, and where would you find the time to take care of all of that?" Best of luck with it all.
Joyous, 3:30 AM??? Uh huh, WAY too early for sure! Were you actually awake when you toured the wildlife area?
Sarv, being treated like a queen just wasn't on for today; however, my mother brought me a bouquet of mixed flowers and gave me a gift bag in addition to the raised bed frame that she ordered for me at my request. She also bought an Angel Food cake (my favorite, as it's more guilt-free than most --- egg whites, protein, right?) DH should be getting home soon and much as he often does forget just when my birthday is, I know he got me something because I'm the one who pays the charge card bill. I'll have to go cook something soon as I don't want anything that I've taken out of the freezer to go to waste, but when I got home this evening, I put a bottle of the good wine in the freezer to quick chill, went and put my slippers on, and have been enjoying both while typing away here. We might go out for a meal at our favorite Indian restaurant this coming weekend --- didn't want to waste something like that when I was too "under the weather" to enjoy it, no matter what the calendar says.
Lauri, hope your horse is okay. Please let us know.
Vi-ann, thanks for the birthday wishes! Hope your weather is getting much nicer up there too.
Sarv, thanks for the "Chinese salad" recipe. I never heard of that before. Sounds interesting.
Susan (101) thanks for the D-mail and Bonnie, thanks so much for the card --- the flowers and cat picture was perfect!
Dmcd, hope you're enjoying the arrival of Spring. Are the peepers at full voice there yet? We've just started hearing them here.
Susan (9 kitty), haven't seen much of you today. Are you suffering from "overdo"? Sounds like you've been pretty busy lately.
Enough from me for now. Got to go cook something. Goodnight all.
McCool & GG I hope you both had a Happy Happy Birthday.
Kelly my cousin and I get together for our b'days and I always have to make her a 7 layered salad and boy do we hog it in! DH and Ds don't care for it so I have to make if for someone else and then hope I get some of it too.
Molly, love the way you garden seems to be shaping up. All that water will do the trick.
Ann, come on down to The Windmill some Saturday and look me up. (we are only open on Sat. and 3 holidays). Be ready for lots of fun and tasty foods. We have some Amish and Mennonite bakers and they make some tasty foods. Of course the kettle corn is my downfall, I buy a bag in the morning and then munch all day long and then some on it.
Got some weeding done this afternoon but spent way too much time just sitting and listening to the birds. Wanted to pinch myself, way to wonderful to be outside again. Tried to start my tiller, no go. But I will try getting DH or DS to start it before they go to work in the morn and then maybe I will be able to later. Good incentive to get busy early! D'cat so glad you got so much done with yours that is what I want to be able to do.
Well time to head for bed, DH has dive team tomorrow and need to get some things together for his lunch,they usually cook out in nice weather. Cold weather Don always talks me into making chili for them. He works for the local sheriffs dept. and is a tender for the divers. With all the lakes around us it is important for them to be ready for a drowning. Thankfully last year we didn't have one.
Pic of the mess in my shop before I painted and before I have done anything else...I am totally nuts this year!
~~~~~~~Joy
