Susan
This is just a suggestion ... but how would everyone feel if we didn't have a new thread every day? Perhaps we could post a new one each month? That way it wouldn't be so much on any one person. I'd be glad to try to learn. May isn't a good month for me but wouldn't mind taking June and July. Anyone else got ideas?
... Elaine
The only problem with that IMO is they tend to get very long very quickly. Then it takes forever for them to load for people like me with dial up. Maybe weekly would work or when it gets too long. I don't know. I will just keep putting along for now.
I will be gone though in a few weeks and won't be here to do it either way.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will do whatever the group wants to do.
Susan
=^..^=
Hey, I seem to be up at the late/early hour. If you could tell me how, I would do it. Maybe as a suggestion for the future, if we took it for a month, and then someone else did it for a month, it wouldn't be such a big burden to anyone. If you want to teach me, I will certainly give it my best. Does anyone want to thank Julie for her long service? I certainly do. THANKS JULIE, WHEREEVER YOU ARE!!
Forgot to say, I too have dial up, and sometimes a long daily is burdensome to load. Maybe in the next 5 years or so, I will have DSL available, then they will have come up with something newer.
Morning!! 26 deg outside with a windchill of 15 deg- brrrr and this is spring!! I completely forgot to cover things in the greenhouse, so I imagine I have toast out there . I could just kick myself, I baby things along for months and then let them die....The majority of my stuff is still inside - just had hanging pots and a bunch of geraniums out in the greenhosue, but still.....I am so mad at myself!!
But the sun is out and the sky is blue, so I won't mope around for long!!
Nothing major planned for this weekend. Need to repot a bunch of seedlings that are under lights. Next week it is supposed to warm up the entire week, so I'll be frantic, getting things outside!! My beds are mostly still covered with winter debrie, so raking will be in order.
Man, the weather down south sure is awful - what a mess with all those tornados! So far, we've only been under the gun once, but I'm sure we'll get our sure before long.
I had a finger problem several years ago. I was trimming the bushes for DH (kids were toddlers) and I was warning them to not come close to the electric clippers - I looked down and my finger was hanging off - yup- chopped it clear thru - even the bone =it was haning by the skin. Ran to several neighbors, finally found one that was home and she rushed me to the hospital (no way I could have driven myself!!) Spent the day there while they removed the nail (ouch) and restitched it back on. Pain was awful and I misread the directions on the vicodin and I was out of it for three days!! I thought it said to take as needed!! That darn finger still gives me problems when the weather changes - it aches like the dickens!
Vi - cute pics!! Grandkids are THE best....I need some more....
Kitty, my summer has several camping vacations planned, plus a trip to see my sister, so I would be unreliable during the summer, but I would be glad to pick up the reins later in the year (but don't have a clue as to how to do it...) Come on everyone, we all need to step up to the plate to help out!!
Gotta get off the computer, DS calls at 9am....every Sat. We;ve done this for years....
Hi!
It's 32 here but the sun is out so I'm happy. Rained cats and dogs yesterday. (where did that expression come from?)..My headache is gone so I guess my sinuses are just like one of those barometric pressure things filled with colored water....
sarv-ouch on the finger! That must have been hideous, I think I'll stick to pruning shears. (although you can get a pretty good flesh wound with those...)
Susan-I would be unreliable to help out since I don't always get the computer from kids. I appreciate your doing the thread though, and yes, thanks to julie wherever she has, hopefully having a great time with her embroidery. Also it will certainly look like flower BEDS all covered with sheets and pillow cases!!(hope you were spared the frost)
Kelly-Praying that it's a better day today....enough already!
Mary-did you get riding? Do we get pictures with ears in them?LOL ....I hope your back held up okay!
Ann-I hope you're having a fun day! You'll have to tell us what it's like if you ever just relax and have fun! I can't picture it LOL
Morning
Well, they say we'll get rain today. Don't know if my poor maters can handle a storm or not ... but when you see what everyone in the mid states have been going through ... it's just so so sad. :-(
Sarv~ I do hope all your plants are okay? Maybe they didn't get too cold.
DMC~ maybe your weather will straighten out before long and you'll be on your horse before too much longer.
Mary~ how ya doing? Still hanging tight? hehehe Hope your horse rides don't jar you too bad.
ViAnn~ do tell us more about the grandtwins!
Maria~ how's Samson? We're needing a Samson fix, you know!!
Meezers~ did you ever come up with any brain storms for the kimono? And what about your rock project? I still want you to keep us informed on that if you do it. :)
Dianne~ what's for breakfast this a.m.? *smile* Yesterday's cobbler was wonderful! Didn't gain a pound! LOL
Morning Kelly~ Hope you are having a better day today. Did Bill ever get his phone call?
Well, got some stuff to get in the mail and am still sitting here in my robe so I'll just wave to those I've missed and to those who haven't checked in yet.
Hugs all way round.
... Elaine
Elaine-Are your maters planted in the ground? (You know up here they're still in Dixie cups!) I hope they don't get pounded. I guess a hoop house with shade fabric would be helpful in sparing them pounding rain...oh boy, is there anything we won't do for mater babies?
OH Grrrrr and %#$%#!! just finished a long post and got Page Not Found and it went flying off into cyberspace. Will that teach me to copy before I send it. Probably not.
I think we do need a new day link. If someone will give me a step by step that I can print out and use to remind myself until it sinks into my brain, I can do it for a while. Susan? GG? Help? We chatter too much to go for a month, and the dial ups would go insane waiting for it to load. I'm already nuts, so I'll give it a shot.
Now I'm too ticked to rewrite all the drivel I did before so I'm going to go stick my head out the door and see how deceptive that bright sun is, and if it's still cold out.
Sheila
Good morning everyone. Hope this day will bring you joy. Maybe the wild weather patterns will give you a break.
I just got back from a yard sale. I picked up some cast iron items - two small skillets (one of them a Griswold) and griddle, one small vintage alum. skillet with a neat design on the handle; a small juicer - white with a blue stripe, a set of four coffee cups off white with blue stripes, and two glass suncatchers that I will hang in the greenhouse for summer color when the plants are all outside. Oh yes, also a set of mini Christms ornaments. I really broke the bank on this run - a whole $6.95. The Griswold skillet, while not one of the most collectible but still a Griswold was a whopping $2.00! I do love a good yard sale!
Now, to figure out what to do with the rest of the day. It is a little too wet to work in the yard and I can't seem to generate any interest in housework, so, what to do...
Would it be easier for someone to start a daily in the morning rather than at night?
Found these little beauties opening this morning - Best wishes to all!
ginni
Well, our weather is deteriorating here. Winds blowing to beat the band ... but no rain as yet. We are under tornado warnings, though ... and yes ... that's thundering I'm hearing in the distance. :-(
Well y'all ... it was *late* last night when I suggested a monthly thing. I was trying to come up with a solution where it wouldn't be such a headache on one person. But I certainly couldn't have been thinking! LOL Couldn't have a monthly for this chatty bunch!! :) Anyway, like I said ... I will be glad to take a couple of months. I know how to copy and paste links and think I understand the concept. The main thing is I'm just *chicken*! LOL LOL
Hi All,
Just taking a quick break from cleaning. Was going to go outside and take the leaves off the 2 front gardens, but they're still frozen to the ground,,,maybe I'll get the top layer off,,,then the ones underneath will thaw faster. Don't know if I have That much energy today,,,have been lacking in the energy department,,,,,maybe I'm just lazy,,,LOL
I agree,,,weekly would be too long,,,we need to keep it daily. I know Ann said that after she retired, she would do it for awhile. And, YES ,,,,,Thank-You Julie,,,,a year is a really long time to keep starting it!
I'll give a step by step for anyone who wants to try it.
1. Open 2 browser windows, one in the current daily and one in the Parking Lot Forum.
2. In the browser with the Parking Lot Forum,,,scroll all the way down and in the subject
line, type in Coffee and... and type in the next day's Day & Date.
3. In the message part, type that the new daily is up and is continued from.
4. Go to the browser window that has the current day's thread, hi-light the address in the
address box at the top of your browser, right click and choose copy.
5. Go back to the daily for the next day, click right after continued from and
choose paste.
6. Hit Preview,,,,in the preview, you should be able to click on the link and it should take
you to the current day's thread. Click Send.
7. Go to the thread you Just started and right click in the address window and choose
copy.
8. Go to the currents day's daily and in the message box, type in, the new daily's up here.
Right click and choose Paste. The link for the next day's daily should show.
9 Hit preview, click on the link and it should take you to the next day's thread that you just
started.
Hope everyone can make heads and tails out of my explaination,,,,it reall is very easy,,,just takes a couple minutes.
sarv,
Hope they aren't toast,,,maybe it was warm enough that they are o.k. The finger accident sounds horrible,,,,,owie
dmc,
Thank-You,,,so far, so good,,,but it's still early,,,ROFL Glad to hear your headache is gone.
Elaine,
Again, so far, so good,,,but it's still early,,,LOL,,,Bill never got his phone call. I'm hoping they call Mon. Everyones prayers would help,,,,,,,Please & Thank-You,,,those baby maters are more hardy than they look,,,they may get pounded down, but I would bet they'd spring right back up after the rain was done. Don't take my word for it though,,,I've been known to be wrong once in my life,,,LOL
M5,
Another one for the Found Forum,,,,LOL Hate that,,,such a pita.
ginni,
What a great deal at the yard sale. Good for you!!!!! Would be easier in the morning, but I don't think anyone could do it early enough,,,,as many are in different time zones.
Well, gonna get back to my cleaning. Maybe I'll try vacuuming the leaves off the beds and at least get the top layer off,,,they'll warm up faster that way.
Hi to All who haven't checked in yet.
Kelly
ginni,
Forgot to tell you the flowers are really pretty. What a nice pic to see.
Well, I haven't been in bed all this time!! Was up and down all night, horrible sleeping night. Officially up at 6:30, had coffee with the morning paper, and then started some laundry. Have done 3 loads, with another one to go. Had to run to the bank, so will devote this afternoon to cleaning, folding laundry changing the beds, need to do 2 financial statements, encompassing 1 year, so that will take a considerable amount of time. I just hate bookwork.
GG thanks for the step by step to starting a new thread. I am going to print it out, maybe test it, and see how well I can follow instructions!!.
tgif, I am so envious, yard sales. There were 2 in our local paper this week, but a considerable distance away, and didn't list anything that interested me. In a week or two there will be lists a mile long. I sometimes can find good buys. Last year, I bought a brand new in the box George Foreman Grill ( the small one) for $3.00. If you collect antique glass ware, sometimes you can find a piece or two. Hey your flowers are pretty.
101, sorry to hear about your weather. Maybe it is the remnants of what was here yesterday afternoon and last night. Don't worry about your maters, as long as you have good drainage holes in the bottoms of the buckets, they will be alright.
M5, drat, rats, ##!!!^%$#() , a good computer person could no doubt tell us where these lost posts go. Then we could go get them. Personally, I think it is directly related to the length of the post. Ya ever notice the short ones always make it, while it's the long ones that get hijacked? I sort of picture the the words lining up, cause they have to go through this narrow door, into a tunnel, and then routed to whereever, well, if it is a short post, the first word gets through, with no backup, thus it is successful. With a long post, every word in anxiouos to get out, they start shoving and pushing, and finally that first word, justs plasters itself over the doorway, and says, get in line or we are not going, and the few rebellious words, just won't toe the line, so leader word, says okay that's it, not going today.!!! Just think what I could accomplish if I applied this much thought to everything I did. H***, I'd have all the problems of this world taken care of in a jiff.
dmc, now everytime I envision you, I will think of multicolored sinuses, sort of like one of those commercials they do on tv.LOL. We need some more of your "ears" pics.
Sarv, please report on the stuff in the greenhouse, let us know if it survived or not. Okay, tell us about the planned camping trips, it will make a good topic to daydream about.
Well, can't sit here forever, will have to start the financial statements, so better get to it.
I will be back later to check to see what's going on.
Hi There,
Taking a break in birthday celebrations. Actually, the party is tomorrow and is not too large this year. they and a couple of friends are going to one of those places that make teddy bears and clothe them. Then there will be a family dinner in the evening.
We went over this morning, arriving about 10 with the bicycles. Sneaked them into the living/toy room (no real furniture, just toys) when the kids were out of the room. Several times around their block and both were getting the hang of riding though for Amy it's a bit of a stretch. The seat is as far down as it will go; so she may need some pedal blocks.
Elaine, you said to tell you more about the grandtwins. What would you like to know and how much time do you have? LOL Keeping my fingers crossed about your weather.
Re starting a new thread, I COULD do it for awhile. Will be out of town for awhile in early June, but before or after would work if you don't mind it a bunch earlier than now. Someone in Central or Mountain time zone is probably ideal in terms of getting all new posts up on the same thread. I agree, that they should, ideally be daily. Sometimes you have 60 posts in one day. Once it gets over 100, it can be very slow to download for those on dial-up. Or even me, I have high speed "lite" which is only a bit more than twice as fast as the dial-up I had. My choice to try that first. If we start to get impatient with it, we can still go faster.
Sarv, your finger experience sounds awful, but I guess you were lucky that they could reattach it. Amazing what they can do these days. One of my high school classmates had a larger limb severed and reattached - I think a foot or leg. It wasn't all that long ago that it would have been good-bye!
I also badly cut a finger a few years ago. Probably should have gone to ER, but I taped it up well, put on gloves and worked in the garden all afternoon. Next morning, the cut was closed, but the finger was swollen. Was supposed to play a casual concert but couldn't. Wen't to Urgent Care clinic and was slapped on heavy duty antibiotics for 10 days. Fortunately, it healed well.
dmc, my maters aren't even planted yet. Went to buy Sweet Million seeds yesterday and could only find Sweet 100. Store told me they were the same that Sweet Million was a marketing name by Stokes. NOT! I bought them but came home and asked the mater forum just to be sure. Gonna return them and then try another store or two. Might end up ordering them. It's cold here today too. BUT, nice and SUNNY.
Sheila, sorry about the lost post.
TGIF - good find in the yard sale. I must get into my crawl space and see if I can find my old cast iron skillets. Enjoyed the flowers.
Hi to Kelly, Bonnie, Maria, Oz, Dianne, mary and anyone else who I've not mentioned.
Ann
Well, I have an idea....LOL
Before I go to Indiana, I can start ALL the dailies for all the days I will be gone. Then you guys can choose the days as they go by.
I will even join in cause I always get on DD's computer while I am up there. Duh, I suppose I could do it from there couldn't I???
GG, I don't ever open two windows, I just page back and forth, copying and such. Pretty slick. Can give more details if you want. Your way sounds easy too though.
It is c-o-l-d here, well it is 51, you notherners probably say 'that's NOT cold', LOL
But we are supposed to frost tonight, so I am still trying to decide whether to put out all those impatiens. DH said it would be easier for him to just bring them in to the other garage than to have to cover everything with sheets. Will probably go ahead and make the begonia hanging baskets and geranium pots since they can easily be brought in.
Oh yeah,,,,,I already have cold damage to my sweet potato vines, they are very droopy. grrrrrrr
It didn't even frost last night. I guess those really are tender. they weren't cheap either, have two flats of them. Hope they recover.
My first iris of the year is blooming. Pretty purple has been there for years. Got it from my father probably over 20 years ago. My father was a plant person, probably where I got the bug.
Well, better get lunch and go pot some things up. Have to wear a jacket, was wearing shorts two days ago.
Susan
=^..^=
Just in to gobble a wrap sandwich and then back outside. It is cool, but sunny and glorious!! DH and I put up the new trellis' - they look industrial, but with sweet autumn clemetis, they will be covered up in no time. I needed strength and not beauty!
I've raked out three small beds and found all kinds of things sprouting. Now I need to bag up the debrie that I raked out of the beds.
GG - good grief - starting a new daily post sounds hard- and I am a complete dunce with computers. I've been having a terrible time with things timing out - hopefully it is not this computer...Get your hinny outside and uncover some of those beds- the fresh air will clear the cobwebs and make ya feel better.
One of our camping trips is up near Sleeping Bear Dunes= huge, gorgeous sand dunes that go on for miles. We've been there several times, but always love to go back. I've always climbed them, but this year may just be a watcher. They also have delightful nature trails - all with a boardwalk and BENCHES!! We're going with DIL family (the deaf ones) and I love being with them - they are so much fun and I am learning to do sign language...(naughty words first of course LOL)
Well, time to get my arse back outside and do some more clean up work - I just love the sun today!! See everyone later..
Just stopping in for a couple minutes. My db and dsil are here visiting.
I wanted to let you know Darius is driving down to her sisters house today and will be back online when she gets her computer set up at her sis' house.
Be back later and maybe I will volunteer to do the daily for May.
Molly
:^))))
Hello everyone. I guess the day is mostly history for some of you.
It's windy here today and the sun keeps paying peekaboo with us. I thought about riding again today, but might not since Patch got a fair workout yesterday. My back felt ok, but my hips ached when I got home. I use a different saddle on Patch, and the stirrup position is a bit farther back, so I am in a little bit different position when sitting, but on a ride with more trotting over the day, next weekend, 50 miles, I will probably be ok, or at least no worse. Breezy's saddle is more comfortable for me but doesn't fit Patch.
We had some rain last night so the ground is too wet to run the rototiller in the garden. I bought some asparagus roots and need to get them planted soon. Many years ago I planted some but even though I had ordered the male Jersey Knights they all made seeds so I suspect that Gurney's just sent me what they wanted to sell, probably the old Mary Washington variety. Other things I got from them were either mislabeled or never came to life, (strawberries, shrubs and some blueberry bushes), so I haven't ordered from them since. The seeds were ok, though. But when I called to complain about dead plants (no 800 line so it was my nickel) they gladly replaced them, with more dead plants, and when I called again to say that their replacements hadn't come to life in spite of prompt planting, frequent watering, etc, they just said "sorry, we can only send one replacement". At that point the customer went away.
VAnn, happy grandtwins birthday. It must have been fun to see them when they saw the bikes. Hope they didn't crash too many times while getting the feel of bike riding. They really do learn amazingly fast. One of mine remembers doing through the neighbor's hedge.
Oooo, severed and reattatched limbs. (don't read this if you are squeemish). My nephew had his hand torn off in a conveyor belt (OSHA had been there the week before and said it was unsafe). The hand was reattatched and he had several other surgeries to reattatch nerves, graft skin, drain infections, and he went though many months of therapy. He lost a good portion of the wrist joint so could not turn his hand (such as in opening a door), or bend up or down, but found other ways to do things and was able to work as a flagman or pilot car driver for construction companies. It is just amazing how much they managed to put him back together considering the mangled state of his hand, the time it took to get him to the hospital, etc. All his expenses + a cash settlement were paid by the company.
You folks in the south keep watching the sky. I saw pictures yesterday, what a tragedy. One shot near Nashville showed a strip of devistition with almost no damage right across the street. I'll take my chances with an occasional earthquake.
Our little town had a tragedy this week, a postal employee ran over his supervisor in the back parking lot of the post office, backed up over her again, then went into the building with a gun in his hand looking for the postmaster. The postmaster had just left the building, actually just missed getting shot by seconds. The shooter then went back outside, shot the supervisor he had run over, reloaded the gun, shot her car several times, threw the gun away and walked away. A cop arrived and arrested him without incident before he was off post office property. So sad, such a waste. It really shook up our little quiet town.
I'd better get some laundry done and a couple of other things. ~~~ to everyone I missed this time, hope you all sleep well tonight and wake up refreshed.
Well, so much for the theory about long vs short messages! I just had a real short one shoot off into cyberspace. Just wanted to say hi and let people know that I've been following their posts. I've caught the bug that DH had last week and am feeling pretty miserable. There's just shy of two hours to go in my work day and I just want to go home and collapse in a heap. May ask DH to take care of supper as well --- though I'm sure he'll be tired and achey after his day at work too. The job at Trader Joe's is a lot more physically strenuous than the desk jobs he's had all his life up til now!
Will be back when I feel better. Have a good weekend.
Susan, will you make up your mind! Seems to me it was just a couple of days ago that you were complaining that it was too hot! LOL (And you're right, those temps you mentioned would sound pretty nice compared to what we've got.)
Sarv - if starting a new post sounds hard, just leave it to others. ;-)
McCool, sorry you've been ill, but nice to see you back if only briefly.
Mary, it's sad when people cross over the line and do things like that. We had a case just outside Ottawa a few days ago where an estranged father and husband shot and his three kids and wife, then set fire to the house which exploded. Not clear whether he inteded to commit suicide too, but he didn't get out of the house without being burned fatally. Usually in these cases there are signs that if someone had paid closer attention, maybe the incident could have been avoided. Especially sad when it wipes out a whole family and the potential of kids.
Ann
Hi all
I've had problems with DG all day getting page not found ... etc. Our weather is very windy with a couple of tornadoes spotted in neighboring areas but no damage reported as yet.
McCool, so sorry to hear you have a nasty bug. Just get on home and veg on the couch for the week-end. Maybe the DH will feel up to doing supper tonight.
ViAnn ... well, you know me. LOL I *always* have questions! Hmm, lets see ... what color are their eyes and hair, and are they identical? Don't remember you saying somehow. Oh, that party sounds like so much fun. Believe it or not, I'd never heard of such, so my DH took me to one and I have a dog I made and adopted dressed up in a little vest with a deputy star. LOL Bet the kids will have fun. I sure did. LOL LOL
Mary, I can just picture you flying on your horse through all those trials. I don't know why ... but I picture you with long hair. Is it, or is that just something I've fashioned in my mind's eye? Oooh, that accident with your nephew *does* sound horrible.
Molly, thanks for letting us know about Darius. If you talk to her again, please tell her to have a safe trip. :)
Well, this weather is getting worse so if I'm not around, you'll know I had to power down. Just in case ... y'all have a blessed night.
... Elaine
OK, folks, here it is, the first Crocus of spring in my front garden. There are two of them, but the white is more striking than the purple one. Just popped up today, about three inches above the wood chip mulch. Lots of tulips coming up around them. Been a busy day accomplishing nothing. Oh well....
This message was edited Apr 8, 2006 4:08 PM
Man, I've worked my tail off today!! And did I get a lot of things done-oh I feel so g- ood about it all!! The sun is still shining, but it is getting chillier. It is supposed to get in the low 20's tonight, but they are saying this is out last cold weather for a week or so- yahoo!!
Mary< that is just awful about the shootings! Your mind must be pretty messed up to do things like that. But I have heard that postal jobs are really stressful and there have been a lot of shootings in that area. Don't know why tho...
Vi- I will leave the 'starting' to others for a while, but do feel like I should take my turn...I feel guilty dumping on others all the time.
m5- glad the crocus are popping up. Mine have been up for some time now (na na na na) Daylilies are up about 3 inches or so and tulips are blooming (early ones) Daffys are open too. But I have less blossoms than I've had in prior years. Wonder what's up - probably need to divide them...
DH has dinner all ready = he's cooked two nights in a row= I need to make something really good for him tomorrow. Fried chicken and mashed potatoes tonight...yum (already had a small sundae...LOL)
gotta go - My hands are already all stained with dirt - how can this happen in one day...
Well, it has been a busy day for some folks, but pretty slow on coffee and... I finally got all the laundry done, beds remade, financial statements done in rough draft, and managed to grill a steak, with a really loaded baked potato, salad and garlic bread. Read a "how to" book this afternoon, (about 100 pages), now all in my robe and gown and ready for bed. It has been chilly here today. Sun was shining, but a very cool wind blowing. We are supposed to have frost tonight, so I had to go out and cover the rhubarb that I planted yesterday. That's going to be one confused plant.
McCool, sorry that you are under the weather. I had a cold last week, now DH has it, so know how yukky you can feel this time of year.
Sarv, glad you got things accomplished, and that you feel good about it. Isn't sunshine, dirt, plants peeking out, and the promise of spring good for the blues? cabin fever? Someone should try to bottle it and sell as an antidepressant.
Mary, glad that you got to ride yesterday, and don't seem worse for it. That is a horrible thing to have happen, any place, but in your town. Did you know any of them? I would think that a rage such as that has built over the years at real or imagined slights, and one day the person just erupts.
Several years ago, in Louisville about 50 miles from me a man who worked at a printing company, went on a rampage in the plant and killed several co-workers. My niece by marriage was an employee there, and hid in a closet, but could hear the shooting going on. It was later revealed that the man was on Prozac, (new at the time) and esentially the defense in his trial was not about him, but about the effects of the medicine. Anyway, my niece was traumatized and under therapy for years. there are still sounds that will trigger an anxiety attack for her.
M5, don't let Sarv taunt you, I think the pics of your crocus are just beautiful. Who cares who had the first one? If these are your first, you are the first one to see them!! Since I am a bit more south, I have had the daffodils blooming, about gone now, but some still hanging on, and the tulips are just beginning to bloom, all my azaleas are in bud (not blooming yet) my Bradford pears are budding, as are the Crabapples, the dogwood and the redbud. Oh, and I have several lilacs. If we have the warm weather next week that they say we will, I will have tons of things to bloom, and I have the camera all ready!! This time of year, my yard just looks so pretty, and smells so good. Another thing that smells good, but isn't very showy is a viburnum I have near the front porch. It has the sweetest smell.
Viann, wish I could have seen the looks on the twins faces!! Were they really surprised? Did you get any pictures of them learning to ride? I can still recall the worst bike wreck I ever had, just like it was yesterday. Going down a slope, a driveway, a gate at the end, chain on the bicycle broke about halfway down, hit the gate and bounced back like an object in a pin ball game, course this was on gravel, and every exposed skin surface was scraped raw. And they say childhood memories are sweet!! LOL
101, sorry about your weather. It sounds like you are getting what we had yesterday afternoon and last night. There were tornados all around us. We are not that far from Nashville, TN, and they got hammered again, after getting it just days ago. Your minds' eye is very very good. Sometime ago Mary posted a picture of her with (was it Amanda Panda?), anyway, in the pic, her hair is long, and it was braided. So when you picture her flying on her horse, image her braids swishing to the rhythm.
kittymom, it is interesting that you and GG have different methods, but the end result is the same. I have printed her instructions, and will try to "practice", just to see if I can follow the instructions, and for the fun of doing something for the first time. I don't see starting the thread as a problem. Whoever is in charge, if they have something coming up that will prevent them from doing it, they can always call on a volunteer to get it done. I do think that it would be more orderly if one person was "in charge" for a certain period of time, with a back up in cas they couldn't do it a day or two. I will be on vacation for a week in June, but otherwise my calendar looks pretty home oriented.
Molly thanks for the message about Darius. Hope she checks in as soon as she arrives to let us know that she is safe. Have you left room for this Black Knight butterfly bush that I have babysat over the winter? I will d-mail you about a good time to get it to you.
Well, I am going to check out some other forums, and may be back later. If not ~~~ to all those I didn't address personally. Not because I am ignoring you, but because my mind is getting shorter and shorter every day. grin
I am have the "page cannot be found" error message too often today. As I hit send for the above message, I got "kicked off" and thought I had lost the post. Well, I was already saying some heated words. On top of the slow problems, I got a message from my ISP that said my rates are going up!! I need to find out if it is 1, my Computer, 2, the ISP, 3, Dave's or another unknown problem. If the slowness is due to my ISP, I am gonna raise holy crap about the rate hike.
Well, I really am going to browse other forums.
Darius called and left a message on the machine that she and her sister had arrived safely.
We have had some rain tonight. Actually thunderstorms and no satellite. I am perfectly happy with that. We really needed the rain. Maybe the roads won't be such a fright now.
Dfcat, I shall watch for your dmail. Thanks, of course I have room for that plant.
:^))))
Molly
Hi again,
I've also encountered the "page not found" a couple of times today. And just now whent I checked in "coffee" was not indicated as having had any action on it even though I have it watched. I thought that was strange; so looked in anyway.
Elaine, the twins are a girl and a boy - Amy and Nolan. Nolan is quite sensitive, but likes hockey and playing street hockey with bigger kids on the street. He and his Dad went to a Senators Hockey game tonight - actually a left over Christmas present. (Amy got to see the Nutcracker ballet at Christmas time).
Amy is on top of every situation and a real social butterfly. She "KNOWS" she's a princess and talks in 4 syllable words. Amy is older by about 40 minutes (Nolan came within 10 minutes of having a different birthdate), but she's smaller. She has recently realized that she is older and I'm sure she'll never let Nolan forget it. The bikes are 14"; so pretty tiny. I probably would have kept them in tricycles for another year, but I guess I'm old fashioned. (Their mother was nearly 5 when she learned to ride a bike with no training wheels. We were in Germany and it was borrowed and too big for her too, but I don't think I've ever seen a more determined kid.) Both of them have blue eyes. Amy is quite blonde but Nolan's hair is a bit darker now.
Bonnie, I got a couple of pics of them learning to ride, but I don't think very good. Re bike accidents, I still carry gravel in one knee from a bicycle wipe out.
Molly, thanks for letting us know about Darius' safe arrival.
It's nice to see the crocuses popping up. It was pretty chilly here today, but sunny and I had quite a few blooming. Will wait until next week when it is supposed to be warmer and see if I can get a good picture of them.
It's getting late; so good night all.
Ann
Here is tomorrows daily at
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/590083/
We went to Goldie's to eat. I got a country burger which is an open faced burger covered with country gravy. Yum yum...also had a big salad that was very tasty too. They have a pickle bar for starters.
We then went to an adult movie. LOL...Ice Age 2...Loved it just as much as the first one. I love that prehistoric squirrel with a passion. He died and went to heaven and had the golden acorn in sight and what happens but his friends on earth pull him back and save his life. He wasnt happy. ROFL
You can tell what kind of movies I really like. Nice light hearted ones.
It wasn't very long so we were home by 8:45 and I got 200 morning glory seeds that had been soaking and already had these great tails. planted into their little pots. They all have numbers and I hope I can keep them straight after they are outside. Good luck. I have 34 varieties so I probably have another 300+ to plant.
I need to get hyacinth bean seeds potted, castor beans, and the million varieties of datura that DGers have sent me. I
I put the sweet potato vine plants out in the sun and they recovered from their cold experience nicely.
The entire bed of the pickup truck in the other garage is filled to the edges with the plants I had to put in because of the frost tonight. It is already 39 so it is probably a good thing we did that.
I got all my new hostas potted up, the heuchera, tiarella, Brunnera into pots. Didn't put them in the garage, I think they will be OK, it's not supposed to be that cold that long, so now watch it get to 20 or something. ahhhhhhh
Got some of the hanging baskets I want made, I have started putting my own together, they seem to do better in the long run, I don't know why. I have two with non-stop begonias 1 with chenille flower which I used to try to winter over. It looked so bad by spring, I would always throw it away and buy new anyway. I decided why take up all my space and effort and then throw it away. Dumb.
Beautiful geraniums, I sure hope they stay that way, they never seem to. I plant those in pots too. It seems I plant almost everything in pots now, they do so much better for me and I can move them around. LOL
Well, I have sat here and typed for 15 minutes, now wouldn't it be funny if I lost it??? No!!
I wish I had my camera down here I would share some pictures I took today of my new geraniums, begonias and of course the brand new iris. Maybe tomorrow, I hope.
Don't worry about the daily starting, I will figure something out, I always do. LOL
I sure haven't done it a year so why should I complain? ROFL
Where is Julie anyway????
Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful night and doesn't have nightmares like I did last night.
I think it was a War of the Worlds nightmare. I told you I was strange......
Susan
=^..^=
Oh Ann, how sweet. Just made me want to give them a hug! *smile* Being a Grandma must be a lot of fun ... you know ... gettin to love m like that and handing them over to Mom and Dad at night. :)
The weather has calmed down now ... still hearing some grumblings in the distance, but boy did my plants love that rain. There's just *no* water like God's! :)
I've had so so many problems all day long with page not found, etc. Have had some not so nice thoughts, too I'm afraid. :-( Seems I'm awefully addicted to DG.
Oh Sarv, my DH fried good ole southern fried steak tonight for supper. Had some more of those fresh English peas, too. LOL Mmmmm.
Defoe, didn't realize you were so close to that bad weather yesterday. So glad y'all are all safe.
Mary, meant to comment on that horrid PO incident. There's been waaay too many of those all over the US. It seems like murder is just a part of every day life ... and isn't that so sad?
Hi Darius ...am waving whenever you get connected! ~~
Well, guess I'll go get comfy. Might check back if I can get on! LOL
... Elaine
