Well, after GG vented, hope you have a restful night. I am still up, and have taken meds to help with the pain, and hallelujah they are working.

Tonight, I have made another order from a seed catalog, written a thank you note, and a general note to some folks who are having a rough time with family. (they shared that last Sunday).

I always try to send notes of encouragement, thank you, or just glad you are my friend. I know when I receive something like that, it always brightens my day.

We currently have thunder rumbling, no rain yet, but the weather people say there will be some. So unless I pot up some plants that I have grown and put in the garage, there is not a chance that anything would make it outside here, just yet. I go and look at all my seedling several times a day, and just marvel that even a clumsy person, a little child and even complete idiots can start seeds. So that shows that it doesn't take special talent, just perseverence.

Well, I guess, I will try to get settled, and sleep, even if it is a short while.

Good night all.

Verona, ON

Morning all. Just took a Apple Walnut Cobbler out of the oven so help yourself while it is still warm. It is hot right now so by the time you get around to it the temp will be great.
Rainy, snowy here but the good news is sun for the weekend. We had quite a blanket of snow in the early hours of Wed but it was all gone by noon. My Mustang sure didn't like it though. Can hardly wait to get the car out on the back road and drive with careful reckless abandon - think I will even take a run over Thrill Hill. That's good for getting the whole body going!
So sorry to hear that many of you are in pain. This time of year seems to really make our arthritic bones just ache soooooo bad.
Even though I have some tulips peaking through the soil I still have a serious case of Zone Envy.....
Can't believe Easter is next week. Had to check twice, thought the callendar was wrong.
Went to visit MIL in the Nursing Home in Port Hope yesterday. It is a 2,5hr drive one way for us so we don't go often. She still likes it there (yep that was a huge sigh of relief) and has started to fix up her room a bit. Think now we know they are not going to be moving her out of the first room she was put in I will go in and paint it, hang some pics of her family and whatever to make it more like her own. She had some money stolen and was quite agitated by that..... DH did warn her not to keep any but you know she is 98 years old and knows to the penny what is in her bank account - how could he not give her some pin money. We have a Kitty set up for her so she can get money any time she wants but as she said what do I need it for. She didn't ask for some replacement money so maybe she understands now it is not a good idea to keep some hanging around.
Now I have to clean up the kitchen..... only problem with baking..
Have a great day all. Hope you will get some sunshine where ever you are.

Good Morning! I was in coffee last night, typed a big long commentary, and it went poof - somewhere!! I was so peeved, I went to bed...

KG- I think you and I are gonna be best friends!! Apple Cobbler in the morning - pass me a big bowl! I would be ticked like your MIL - stealing....can't stand it. Did you tell the powers that be? I'll pass on your trip over Thrill Hill - I get car sick so easily!!

Raining, it's pouring, the old lady is snoring! NOT, I slept awful last night. Watched the clock from 1 to after 4 - my legs still throbbing. It is raining out tho. Snow coming again this weekend....grrr

GG - go sit in a chair - I'll come help you. What a mess...what was Bill thinking when he threw water in the freezer - oh, now I remember - sometimes he doesn't think! LOL I think this weather is throwing everyone into a funk - no sun, cold, rain, snow... Hey, get going on that hosta co-op - then you'll feel better!! (and so will I!)

I spent yesterday with DIL and her niece. Drove around shopping for hours- I was the only one who didn't buy anything - I bought some gauchos for the niece, but nothing for myself.... today I hope to go back to Kohl;s. Friend has a 30% off coupon and she said I could us it. Mine was only a 15% off one!! I need some summer tops.. (if it ever comes...)

DM called from Fla last night- they were going to start home on Fri morn, but they heard the weather was supposed to be stormy in the central states where they travel, so they are postponing their start back home. It's a long trip for two old geezers....hope they travel safely...I worry...

Well, kitty just came in from outside - completely soaked....I will need to towel her down before she hops on the furniture... BBL

M5, that kimona is wonderful!

I still have 2 that I often wore for very dressy occasions. Also used to have an extravagant white on white (embroidered cranes) that was a ceremonial kimona. Too long to wear with the heavy train so it hung on my wall. Eventually I tried to have it dry cleaned (because I smoke) but it never looked right again.

I totally missed yesterday's coffee because clicking to watch the thread didn't work.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning folks,

I popped in earlier and must have vicariously answered because I don't see a post here and I'm sure I didn't lose one. I guess I put it off till after bk and then though I had written. (early Alzheimer's???)

Bonnie, you don't need to feel bad about concentrating on yourself and your ills for one day. We're all here to listen. Hope you are feeling bettr today.

Dianne - your Apple Walnut Cobbler sounds great. Save me some for lunch, please.Sounds like your weather is similar to ours. I'm hoping that tomorrow is nicer because it is grandtwins' 4th birthday. We'll head over to their house around 9 am with new BICYCLES!

The good thing about cool, rainy weather is that the bulbs in my garden are growing well. Every day I see more color in the crocus bulbs. Now one nice mild, sunny day will bring them out in force. Still no sign of my hostas though.

Glad MIL is content in her Nursing home. If money went missing, ensure that she doesn't have any jewelry on her. My DM was in a nuring home in Rochester for 4 1/2 years and during that time her diamond ring was stolen from her. I've always been cross that nobody at the home advised me that I should have taken it for safe keeping - or put it away for safe keeping themselves. It's obvious that a casual aide had soaped up her hand enough to get the ring off and pecketed it. She never missed it fortunately, because her dementia had progressed to such a point that she didn't care.

Sarv, sorry about the lost post. Hope your parents travel safely when they start home. How long a drive is it to MI?

Darius, sorry you missed the thread yesterday, but nice to hear from you this am.

Well, off to get some work done. Objective for today is to update some web sites now that I finally have text editor and FTP program working on the new computer. It's been about 18 months since I put up any pics of the grandtwins. http://www.magma.ca/~fredrkng/ if anyone want to look. Just give me a couple of hours.

I've already done an update on the schedule for my handbell group. Gotta figure out music for May 'cause they all are bailing out on me. A couple of the regulars will be away on our scheduled date in church, one is moving and one expects to have major surgery. That's when I start tearing my hair out because I had music all picked out.

And I started an update on part of the Canadian Viola Society site. Got behind on all of them when I changed computers.

Well, off to work. Have a good day.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning everybody. Slept well, but for a shorter period of time. The arms aching did wake me, but they are not super painful like they have been, The sun is shining, birds are singing, slight breeze blowing, in upper 50's. We had some rain last night, and more forecast for later this afternoon. I went out for a stroll through the gardens, just to see what is coming up, and stopped to pull a weed, here, plan a new project there, came in to get gloves and do some more weeding, but stopped by to post. Do you think this is gonna be one of those "but first" days? Sounds like it to me. The plant I tried to identify in the wildflower garden,is getting pulled out today, I will leave one, and then if it is a flower, will know what it is for next year, if it is a weed, then I have guessed right.

kg, that apple/walnut pie sounds delicious. I will get a bite to bolster my energy to go back out to do the weeding.

M5, that kimona is beautiful. Since I am not particularly creative, I can't give you any ideas of things to do with it.

Sarv, sounds like you behaved admirally yesterday on your shopping trip. Hope that you find what you need at Kohl's today.

~~at Susan and Darius.

I will be back later, just want to beat the rain that is moving in.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

~~at you Viann. Don't fret, about whether you did/didn't post, if it was in your mind, you had already worked out what you wanted to say. Sometimes that is the majority of it.

Today is my DGD birthday #10. Called her last night, and since she will not be here for this weekend, gonna have a late celebration in 2 weeks.

Well, grabbing those gloves, and heading out.

Morning everyone
Well it's my turn to rant.

We went out for supper last night to Red Lobster. Was seated at 8:50. Finally got our water and coffee 25 minutes later. Still no salad. DH went to silently make a complaint to the hostess (he *never* does that) It took 15 mins later before salads were served. We had ordered fish and chips for supper and finally after being there 1 hr and 20 mins, our food was served. It was cold and greasy ... and very small servings. It was so bad we could barely eat it. I have never been so disgusted in my life. They finally admitted to having problems in the kitchen, so we didn't have to pay. I should *hope not*! They acted like they had done us a favor! I'm serious ... it was almost 11 before we made it home.

Okay, all done! Whew! :)

Defoe~ please don't overdo today or you'll be right back where you started!

Kelly~, oh my that sounds like such a mess. You and I should start a club. :) I spilled a container of fresh English peas the other day. What a mess to clean up! Little peas rolling around all over the floor!

Billyporter~ so nice to meet you.

Okay, I need to go back and catch up a bit. Am waving to those I'm missing. ~~~

GM everyone!!!! It's been so long since I last posted here, it feels like eons.

I've been staying busy and trying to work on my gardens between rain, family crises, work crises, neighbour crises and DH crises. Ahhhh, such is the stuff of life. I have to laugh though. You all know the adage, "No good deed goes unpunished."? Well, I tried to make supper for us, Mum and the next door neighbour while at the same time doing loads of laundry, running out the door to mow the yard, put in a few more flowers, etc., and I lacerated the middle finger of my left hand (right through the first knuckle and through the nail into the matrix) with a knife when I was cutting onions before putting them in the food processor. It was one of those *OH, craaaaaaap!* moments. LOL So here I was scooting down the hallway holding pressure around the finger to slow the bleeding but when reaching for some 4 x 4 gauze pads bled all over the bathroom, the floor and even managed to get some on the wall :-( Well, like a good nurse, I was going to just take care of it myself, thinking I could maybe Dermabond it all back together once I got the bleeding under control, but nooooooo, that was not to be. So, I hopped into the vehicle, drove myself to work and ended up having one of the ER docs I work with put me back together. I managed not to have any tendon damage, but I did nick the bone.

Well, the best part of this story was, DH comes home from work because he has his every two week haircut appointment plus helps me take supper to Mum's (on Wednesday's). I'm not home, there's no note from me and he goes nuts. He starts calling everyone, my sister, the neighbours, etc. I finally called him from work after I was done being put back together and he's frantic. Oh, for pity sakes says I, I'm fine, take it easy, relax! I told him I couldn't write a note and hold pressure on my finger at the same time and I had a heck of a time driving and doing the same thing. I took a tourniquet I use when starting IV's and wrapped it around my finger and used a Kelly forceps to keep it in place. It got me to the ER without ruining my vehicle upholstery. When I got home, he saw the bandage (tube gauze) and got all pale and sweaty (silly man) and I had to have him sit down with his head between his knees. Now this is a man who has picked up body parts from plane crashes but gets faint when I show up with a dressing?!? Oy vey! LOL

So, I finished my supper, waited for DH to get his hair cut and he came to get me so we could go feed my Mum. The next door neighbour got the supper I made for them last night as they only got back from Seattle last night.

I send my greetings to all the new folks on DG and my thanks to those who have whetted my appetite with their baked goods. For the rest I send my heartiest wishes for a wonderful day and better health for those that are suffering. Many blessings on all...~Babs~

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, have been out and about. Pulled all of the mystery plant/weed in the wildflower garden, left one right in the middle, so I will see what it is later in the season. Dug some more lioriope, seeded 4 planters on deck, checked on my winter sowing projects, looked at some trees that I had heeled in last fall, realized they were within range of the walnut, so I dug them, moved them to a new location, planted.

So I am in right now, catching the noon news, and they already have us under a tornado watch, until 9:00 pm. The watch just means that "conditions are right" for one to occur. Don't get really excited until the warning is issued. Then it is time to get to safety.

I don't see any difference in the hurting, working or not working. I am not doing any thing too streneous, and will not work a long time. So thanks for the cautions from everyone.

Well, gonna grab a bite to eat, and then back out for awhile.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Elaine, the Red Lobster experience sounded awful. Good thing they didn't try to charge you. Will you go back and try again someday of not?

Babs,your finger experience is no laughing matter, but I still found myself chuckling as I read your account of it. Are you on a good dose of antibiotics to prevent more problems? Glad you got to the ER OK, but that was some production. Now, be careful with those knives.

Bonnie, keeping my fingers crossed re the tornados.

Well, I'm making progress in chossing pics for the web site, but they aren't up yet.

Ann

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Apple Walnut Cobbler 1 what a wonderful way to start the day. Must say I hate the thought of someday having to be put in a Nursing Home. Granted, there are some wonderful ones, but you never seem to know about the not-so-wonderful ones till it is too late.

Elaine, that dining experience sounds terrible. If I hadn't been "attended to" by the staff within 10 minutes of being seated we would have been out the door never to return.( along with a letter of complaint to the Franchise or owner)

Weather has been pretty darn nice lately and has led to getting a few things done. Burned up a lot of scrap wood and limbs yesterday, moved some stuff out of the sunroom, pulled Hostas out for dividing, went to the nursery for Muck Boots for DW and myself, and took Immy to her Obedience class. Out of the 13 dogs at the class there were two young white Standard Poodles, a magnificent dark GSD, and a beautiful blue merle Aussie puppy (the owner said it was a miniature Aussie, which I've not heard of) Class went well and Immy did her sits better than any of the others. Hope to make some progress today in weeding, shaping, mulching and fencing planting areas . Sure could use some help.

Dianne, sad to hear of family members in Nursing Homes being robbed. Staff can usually say "she must have put it somewhere and forgot" or some other excuse, and get away with it. Same thing happened with my Grandmother years ago.

That Kimono is outstanding ! The Nipon Business Institute at our Community College displays kimonos and other japanese items. The patterns and craftsmanship are amazing. Their garden should be open soon. They had craftsmen from Japan do the design and construction. It's a beautiful place.

Hey Darius, always good to hear from you. What's up ? You seem to flit from place to place so quickly I can hardly keep up with you. Since Uncle is making me take some of my IRA now I've decided it is a good time to buy a REAL stove. Can't afford a Wolf or Dacor, but there are several other 'home-use' models on the market. One with a double convection oven and a wok ring is high on my list. Might have to put in a bigger exhaust hood too. Wonder if I can make this into a whole kitchen make-over without DW noticing ? Not a chance!!!

9:30 and time to get to work. Hope everyone has a super day.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Hmmmm, I see my last post last night went pooof too. Thanks for the suggestions on the Kimona, it's really too heavy to wear, weighs about 5+ lbs, and is very long, 72" and laid flat is very wide as well. The sleeves are over 30" long too, and it is fully lined. I was told it is a wedding garment, but I have no way of knowing. Some people hang them on a bamboo pole as a display, but with my penchant for collecting cobwebs...I think not. Just too bad to leave it sitting in a drawer, when it could be used.

Dcat, I hope you are feeling much better today. It's miserable when you can't relieve pain like that. Now don't overdo and get it started all over again!

ViAnn, waiting to see pics of the kiddles! Getting all your computer stuff up to date really eats up a lot of time. I'm not putting much on my laptop, just because I'm already running behind on just about everything. Trying to find some new members for our golf league is a time consuming effort, plus my co-president is still loafing down in Florida so every phone call is coming to me. Including those for the lunch coordinator who is also in Florida. Next year, I'm going to pretend I"M in Florida!!

GG, freezer meltdowns are just a horrible disaster! I had one a couple years ago, when Someone (not me) left the door open a crack, and it frosted up like that trying to keep things frozen. which it didn't. Of course, there was denial, which was pointless, but I got to clean up the mess regardless. I think I threw almost everything out, except some blackberries. The only worse mess I could recall off hand was when my teenaged daughter failed to close the lid on a gallon jar of mayo (my ex worked for a food supplier) which we had to lay on it's side to fit it in the frig. It oooooozed all night long and we got up to a mayo cascade when the door was opened. Goooosh!! I didn't clean that one up, she did, but I swear I could smell mayo for years.

Hope the folks have a safe trip home, Sarv, so you won't have that worry on your mind. (You are a class A worry wart!) I don't think I'd be able to move at all if I did what you did with those exercise sessions the other day! A dish of apple walnut cobbler will make it feel much better, I'm sure.

Nursing homes usually stress that all valuables and money not be left with the resident, thievery is rampant. I'm glad your MIL is feeling content there, Dianne, and comfortable with her surroundings. The more pictures and things from home surrounding her, the better she will feel. Personally, I hope to just keel over and depart permanently which would relieve my family of trying to keep some cranky whiney old lady like me satisfied. I'd hate the food, I'd hate not having my pets, I'd hate not being able to play in the dirt, I'd be the biggest PITA they'd ever seen and probably someone would voluntarily put me out of my misery just to get rid of me.

This is definitely one of those "but first" days.I haven't completed one single thing I've started, but first, clip those coupons, but first, answer the phone, but first make a couple more phone calls, but first finish ironing that shirt I got yesterday, but first.... I'm still sitting in my jammies and haven't even made the bed, but first, send a link to DH at work for his friend who is buying a new dishwasher ...Arrghhhh! Good thing I'm not driven to perfection LOL . !!

Elaine, that sounds like a good reason not to ever go back to that restaurant. Might have been a good idea to get up and leave after the first half hour of no service. DH would never do that, I've been appointed to be the "B" in charge of complaints and I do not have patience with service like that.

The first time he saw that side of me was when we were just friends, and got together occasionally for dinner (usually pizza). W went to a restaurant that had just been taken over by a new owner, and we ordered lasagna. It arrived at the table with the top burned black. I complained to the server, who was the new owner, and she responded "Our customers like it that way." I looked at Mike and said , "Well, this customer doesn't", put on my coat and walked out the door. He followed, and to his credit, did not pay the bill. They didn't stay in business long. We laugh about it now, and it's our standard response when something is obviously substandard.

LOL about the English peas! I was filling a smaller container with cat crunchies last week and missed the opening and dumped a couple of cupsful on the floor....boy, did they scatter! I kept asking the cats to help clean it up but they just sat there and laughed at me.

Oh Gee Babs, that's a story and a half!! Didn't he see the blood in the bathroom? I saw DH go pale and sweaty once at a softball game when one of the guys on his team broke his ankle sliding into a base, I thought he was going to faint! Just had a call from my friend who adopted the rescue kitty, and has been dosing him with various meds from the vet. This morning he decided he didn't want to have his meds, and went ballistic on her, scratched her badly and bit clear through her thumb, through the nail. So she was off to the ER for a tetanus shot, and is trying to find out if the cat ever had a rabies shot, from the cheesy rescue place where they let his ear mites, ringworm and teeth go untreated. Any bets on whether she'll get a truthful answer?? Anyway, glad you were tended to and didn't do any more damage than nicking the bone. Ow. Glad to see you back!

~~~~ to everyone else, going back to finish ironing, getting the bed made, getting dressed, getting off the computer, getting lunch, getting going!!! See y'all later...
Sheila
Hi All,
Just having a quick lunch break. And looking SO forward to bleaching my basement floor later this afternoon,,,,ach, maybe I'll let it go til tomorrow,,,it's not like we'll be walking on it. 'Cause there ain't much left in that thar freezer to get out. A turkey, chicken, raspberry freezer jam, some venison, a few little vacuum packed steaks and some Kielbasa,,,oh, and I forgot,,,one of those crock pot classic meals,,,,LOL I think that's about it. We have a whole large cooler to go out to the garbage Mon. morning. It just about killed me,,,had to throw out 2 packages of Porterhouse steaks, some Sirloin Steaks a bunch of fish,,and about 2 dozen pork chops,,,,,but, better than getting sick.
Ah, felt much better after getting all that off my chest last night. Along the Xanax,,,, LOL
dcat,
Glad your pain meds were working. It's always nice to receive a card or a little note in the mail. Nice to know someone is thinking of you. I do that on occasion, but not nearly enough.
KG,
OOOOOOO Cobbler of any kind is wonderful,,,,Just be careful while doing you're reckless abandon thing,,,,LOL I saw a Dateline thing once with hidden cameras in patients rooms in nursing homes. I was rally surprised at some of the things the employees did,,,how utterly pathetic! When I was inhospital last year, they wanted to lock my purse in a safe,,,told them Bill would be coming and I would give him my checkbook and credit cards. Didn't have much money, but gave him that also,,,,stupid,,,I couldn't even have a nurse or aide run down to get me a cup of coffee from Starbucks.
sarv,
Hate when that happens,,,, there are times I AM in coffee,,,but no one knows cause my post went into cyberspace somewhere,,,I just don't post anything then,,,,,always wonder where they end up,,,LOL Oh, thanks for the offer to help,,,How long would it take you to get here?,,,lol I think Men in general don't think (sorry Ernie, Robert and oz, you three are an exception to that rule) Sorry to hear you didn't sleep well. Hope your legs feel better. Yes, the co-op is making me feel better,,,,along with hostas comin',,,have 8 peeking their little buds through.
darius,
I can picture you wearing a Kimono. That white one sounds absolutely lovely.
Ann,
Glad to hear the programs are working on new puter,,,,it can be so frustrating trying to set up a new puter. I worked on my puter almost all day Mon.,,,got a Trojan horse in and then got a browser hijacker in,,,,grrrrrr Posted in the Computer Forum and some nice, wonderful person helped me tremendously. Glad to hear you are getting your sites updated,,,,we need to see pics of the grandtwins,,,LOL Have fun.
Well, customer here,,,gotta go,,,bbl
Yipee! It's Friday! Rainy here today and supposed to rain tomorrow.
Kelly - Hope you are having a better day today!
Defoe - Do be careful doing all that garden work.
KG - Cobbler sounds really good!
Sarv - Will be keeping your parents in prayers as they travel from FL. My parents made their trip home from FL a couple weeks ago. They are as much of a worry as the kids are.
Darius - Good to "see" ya!
VA - Can't wait to see new pictures of the grand twins. They are going to love their new bikes.
Elaine - Have you gone to this restaurant before? If you have gotten good service there before, it may have just been an "off" night.
Babs - That was scary for you. Hope you didn't have to drive to far to the ER. Haven't hear any Mum stories lately. Give her a hug from us.
Bal - I don't think there is such a thing as a mini aussie. Many times "miniatures" or "teacups" are produced by breeding runts.
M5- Havn't seen a sammy pic today! Sorry that your friend is having such a bad time with the adopted kitty. At least she is getting her care and she is not suffering at that rescue any more.
Well, it has taken me a long time to finish this as I have had to get up from my desk several times. I'll send this and see if anyone has posted in the meantime. If I don't get back, everyone have a great weekend.
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Sheila, I'm another one sitting here in my jammies. But have to change that soon. gotta get out and buy some tomato seeds. Planted some of mine last night and found I must have used all of one favourite variety last year.
I'm also hungry - haven't eaten lunch.
But I HAVE narrowed the twin pics down to 26 between Sept 04 and Dec 05. Should try to get them to about 20. And I've got all those pics sized for the Internet. Had to go searching on the old computer though, because it would appear that some never got moved to the new one. Besides that, I don't have good photo management software on the new one - at least not that I know it.
BTW, you were all talking about software that would allow you to make photo composites last autumn. I couldn't donwload it because it wouldn't run on windows 98. Anyone remember what it was called? What else will it do?
Kelly, I didn't say sorry about the freezer. What a bummer. Glad you're making progress even if slow.
Well, gotta go. Nobody look for new pics until at least this evening, OK. I'll tell you when I get them uploaded.
Back from a 5 hour shopping trip!! Went to Kohl's with my friend and her daughter's 30% off coupon - they wouldn't honor it as it had the daughters name on it- when did they decide to put names on those darn coupons!! My friend threw a polite fit because she had used the coupon yesterday with no problem - so they grudgingly let her use it, but I had to use my measly 15% off- and I bought a bundle! Bought a ton of summer tops and two pillows (which are going back)and 6 sets of towells (three different colors)
Then out to Pizza hut buffet for lunch - yum!! When I got home I realized I had left my phone 'on' for the entire time- darn thing was dead!!
IO1- that sure was a LONG time to wait for a crappy dinner. They should have given it to you for free and another free dinner to boot!! I hate it when things like that happen! (I am a weinie about complaining tho)
Babs- I laughed at your husband getting white!! They aren't as strong as they pretend!! I remember DH bragging about watching the birth of our first child- he told everyone he was used to pulling out calves using ropes around the feet = bla bla bla, but when they had to use foreceps to help me deliver, he turned white and then green... LOL - he'll never live that one down!! You were lucky you made it to the Em room in one piece- I'd have been out flat....
Gosh it has been a gloomy day here- DH just cranked on the wood stove for some heat. Supposed to get down in the 20's for the next two nights.
If there's any cobbler left, dish some up for me!! I need dessert....
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)
VI- I think the photo stuff was picasa -I just downloaded it and have been playing with it..
Afternoon all
Well just had to come back and tell y'all the DH called Lobster and talked to the manager. He said he was polite and explained what had happened. Said the guy talked to him for probly 15 mins or longer, telling him what a terrible night they had had last night and how many free meals they had given away. Said he was so sorry it happened and please come back ... we'd get a gift card in the mail. The DH told him our meal was free last night but it just wasn't fit to eat bla bla bla. Couldn't believe he had called. He would *never* dream of complaining ... would just mark them off his list. I'm not mean, but I will complain ... especially when my coffee is cold! LOL
Kelly, that's terrible about the steaks. Would make me want to sit down and cry. So sorry about that mess. :-((
Sarv, sounds like you *really* had a trip! LOL
Diane~ forgot to say thanks for the dessert!
Babs~ oh do be careful! I can just imagine what your poor DH thought if he walked in that bathroom and saw all that blood and couldn't find you at home. Uggg! Take care of that hand, now. Will you be able to work?
Robert, that's great about Immy doing so good with her sits. :)
Defoe, forgot to send birthday wishes to your little DGD!
Hi Mary, Suzie, ViAnn, Darius and the rest of the gang. I've got a fresh mess of English peas to shell for supper, so I'll check back later.
... Elaine ~~~
Hi everyone. Got any of that apple walnut cobbler left? Warmed up with a bit of ice cream, ummmm.
Babs, I hope your finger heals quickly. I had to laugh at your hubby's reaction to a bloody bandage. If he had seen the blood when you were still "missing" I wonder how he would have reacted. Is this going to put a crimp in your gardening, or will rubber gloves fit over your bandage? We need another Mum story, it's been a while. I heard that there will be a Celtic festival in Bellingham, you might want to check that out and take your dear Mum. How is your neighbor who has cancer?
Kelly, sorry to hear about your freezer mess. I agree, if in doubt, throw it out, but it is sure hard to do. Sure is better than the risk of food poisoning.
Nursing home thefts are fairly common, both from other light fingered residents and employees. My hubby helped to send a nuring home employee to prison for stealing from a 90+ year old lady who happened to wake up and catch the guy in the act of taking money out of her purse. He thought she was asleep, later the defense attorney tried to portray the victim as a confused old lady who didn't know what she saw. The old lady was brilliant when put on the witness stand and the thief got the maximum penalty. This guy had a previous conviction in another jurisdiction for the same thing and the nursing home didn't check his references before hiring him. Anyhow, he is being held prisoner in a license plate factory now.
It's a nice day, not windy, no rain or snow, and the temp is up to 47. So, I'm through giving my back a rest and I'm going riding. In spite of hearing/feeling a few pops it seems to still be in place, at least not enough out of place to cause problems. I'm probably paranoid when I hear the pops, but other joints pop and I think nothing of it. Off I go, see you later.
Elaine, thanks for the howdy!
Babs, I got a little white too. Knife stories always do that to me. My Mom once had a sewing machine needle go all the way thru her fingernail. Glad I wasn't there!
Defoecat, good thoughts heading your way.
Meezers, always enjoy hearing what you have to say!
Kittymom, love your ''signature.''
Dianne, it's so hard to put someone in a nursing home isn't it? Hope she continues to get along.
Sarv, enjoyed your shopping trip.
The most I've done today is cleared some brush. I put on a pair of shorts and grabbed the razor. (Snicker.)
Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)
Hi everyone, I read through all the posts but I've had such a headache - probably sinus from the totally yucky weather. Does any of you know if $1300 is a good price for a 16x32 greenhouse, quonset style with plastic film and all the vent stuff working? The guy who owns the little general store is selling one. I have no idea if that's a good price to gamble on.
LOL billyporter, no shorts here, by then i'll need a chainsaw. (or brush hog? hehe)
Mary I hope you have a nice ride. I can't believe how nice it was just last week, but at least your'e not having rain snow hail or whatever....
Elaine-What an awful night out! Will you go back and give them another chance?
Kelly-I hope your run of rotten luck is over! If you want a roommie in the little white cell, send me a dmail!! But I would rather things just get better for you!
suzieq dark as night and pouring rain here all day today. I went out to look at my little daylilies coming up....poor things. If I were them i'd go back to bed!
Babs-I hope you're healing up fast. you obviously keep a cool head while driving your bleeding self. I'd be afraid of passing out at the wheel.
m5-I have a couple antique kimonos that my great uncle sent from China in the 30's. Still in my cedar chest. I thought about mounting them under plexiglas, but they don't really go with Adirondacks (LOLOL) and I could never cut them up...so if you think of anything, I'll be interested too! We do need a Sammi picture soon
sarv-I just cranked up the woodstove too, and now i think I overdid it! I mean, 40 outside isn't like10 below....Sounds like you made out well at kohl's. I need towels, too...Good for you stocking up!
dcat-Hope you're holding up to the outside work! I think it's neat that you send notes of encouragement. I like making cards and I do enjoy sending notes, it's just all falling by the wayside. It's so nice to find a handwritten envelope in the mailbox instead of just bills!
Okay i have to get more advil, I will check back ~~~~~waving to all i missed~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone else would like to start the coffee for awhile.
I can still do it for a few more weeks if you can't, but I will be gone to Indiana around the first of May so someone else will have to do it then.
It might be nice to just pop in now and then without all this heavy responsibility of starting the thread.
LOL
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!
Susan
Just dropping in before bed. Need to give the critters some food and then i'll hit the hay.
VA - What little cuties!
Mary - Hope you had a nice ride today.
dmc - Hope that headache gets better. Changes in the weather always get me. I can always tell when a front is coming through by the sinus pressure.
Good night all!
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Just checking in before bed. Big day tomorrow with the birthday. Must find my camera.
Thanks for the comments on the twins. I happen to agree that they are cuties, but I'm also highly biased. LOL
Have a good night everyone.
Well, I made another trip to Wally world for pots this time. Loaded up on them and forgot the one size I wanted most. I had a list made and everything, left the list in the car in my purse and only took in my wallet. Am I intelligent or what????? Don't say what!!!
I also had to stop at my local nursery on my way home and found some fantastic begonias to make hanging baskets and gorgeous geraniums that I couldn't pass up. LOL
Turned cold while I was at WalMart, might have a frost tomorrow night. So now with all these flowers, I will be getting out all the sheets and pillow cases and covering covering covering. After that supposed to warm up nicely.
Well, I have a lot of book work to do for the SPCA. I have been lax lately and am behind. I need to catch up a little bit tonight.
Here is the Saturday daily at
Well, it has been awhile since I was here, and you all have really been busy.
101, that was some dinner, but glad that it was free, and then getting a gift certificate, maybe wasn't too bad a deal!!
Babs, I have a similar cut finger story. In my case, no neighbors, etc to take me to er, so I drove a standard shift pick up truck, the cut was on the left finger, but with shifting gears, and manageing the steering wheel, it was a monumental task. BTW, went & got stitched up, came home and finished preparing a meal for 6 guests.
Viann thanks for the safety well wishes. I remember the discussion about photo composit, but can't remember the name of it. Hey those are great pics.
Bal, Are you kidding, redo the kitchen without anyone noticing? This is really nasty... and includes you, ernie and oz... maybe a man wouldn't notice!!
M5, yep,you had a but first day!!. I think that is when we get to the end of the day and can't even point to something that we have finished. !!
GG, sorry about the freezer mess. Been there and done that, plus cleaned some refrigerator messes too. About lost posts, do you suppose we could convince dave to start a lost post forum, guess he could call it the found post!!
Sarv, good shopping trip!!
101, send me some of those peas. I love them fresh, don't care for canned or frozen, but geez they are good fresh. Thanks for the BD wishes for DGD. We called her tonight and sang happy birthday to her, They were in the car coming home from a pizza party, her best friend heard us singing to her, and said to tell us to get plenty of practice before we did that again!!.
Mary be careful of those adjustments. I really believe all of the arm pain resulted in an adjustment for my muscle spasms for the lower back, resulting in something pressing on something it wasn't supposed to be pressing on, and therefore causing the arm pain. Sort of like the hip bone connected to the leg bone, etc, etc. Get something out of whack, and it affects everthing is in line.
billyporter, we may have to name you resident wise***in this forum. I really thought for a minute that you were actually out with a chain saw clearing brush.
dmc, sorry that you had to have wood stove heat today. I promise it is going to get warmer. I had the back door and the front door open this afternoon, and it sure felt good, while I was cooking supper.
Well, I did get quite a bit accomplished today,and was careful in doing it. I had potted some rhubarb and was keeping it in the house, but it was looking so sorry, that I took it out and planted it, so will have to keep a watch on it and cover it during the cold spells, that I am sure we will have.
I put up some temporary, white plastic picket fence type edging to try to keep the dogs out of my tulips and day lilys. Went out this morning, and since they can't walk where they want now, have begun chewing on the fence. DH has turned his beagles loose, since hunting season is over, he has 4 and they have invited the neighbor's beagle over to join them in this destruction!! I just put this up where the plants were small, thinking that the larger ones didn't need protection. Well, the visiting beagle, decided that they would make him a good bed, so he is laying on some of the larger tulips. I have had to put some rocks next to some emerging asiatic lilies, to protect them from the paws of these critters. How do I train them to stay out of the beds? I know shotguns do the trick, but I hate to see DH cry. Just kidding, but this is so aggrevating.
We have been under a tornado watch all day. Didn't have any storms here, but have had some rain, and areas nearer to Louisville have had high wind/tornado activity late this afternoon. Tennessee again got hit by this line of storms. We only have about another 6-8 weeks of this to go. Then we can watch as the hurricane season begins to our south. Ya see, everywhere has it's weather patterns, and you just decide to take the risks, and live there if that is what you want to do. Hey you westerners, is there an earthquake season, or mudslide season, or fire season? After this front passed through, the weather has turned cooler. Hope I can get out and do some things tomorrow. Want to direct sow some seeds, so hope it isn't muddy, or too cool.
Well, I got to get this body headed for a good soft bed. It is a tired body, but one that is not aching as has been the case of the past few days.
~~~to all that I may have missed, or those who haven't checked in. I will try to catch up with you tomorrow.

Sweet dreams.

Hi Again,
Just popping in before I go to bed.

Elaine,
What a terrible dining experience. Red Lobster is usually pretty good,,,maybe it was just one of those nights. Still no excuse for such poor service. I think I'd write a letter to corporate,,,can't hurt and maybe you'll get a free dinner out of it. Can't imagine spilling peas,,,they would roll Everywhere,,,at least mine was a contained mess such as it was. Read a litle further and am glad DH called. If I wasn't so mad, I would have been sitting and crying,,,LOL

Babs,
I am exhausted just trying to keep up reading all that you do. Gosh I think we must have Wonder Woman in our midst here. Glad the finger was able to be put back together without any tendon damage,,,hopefully no nerve damage either. Nicking the bone is Not good. Put the knives away,,,LOL

dcat,
Hope that plant is a good one and not a weed. Glad to hear you got at least some rest last night. Sounds like you got a lot done outside today. Good for you.

bal,
What a great learner Immy is,,,good girl! Hope she continues to do well,,,,I'm sure she will. We took Mooshka to obedience classes. Needless to say, the trainer didn't like Northern Breeds (she's a Siberian Husky) so he had his mind made up right away that the Northern Breeds were going to be trouble,,,there was 3 in the class. Was glad when that was over with,,,I'm sure she was too. The last night, they gave out awards,,,,,Mooshka got one for perfect attendance,,,ROFLOL

M5,
Well, Someone here Said the door didn't close because there was ice preventing it from closing,,,but that same someone has a bad habit of not making sure the door is closed tightly,,,didn't even bring it up,,,wasn't worth arguing about. EWE on the mayo mess. Hope you got over your but first day,,,,I Hate those.

suzie,
LOL,,,that's how I feel about Saturday's,,,,my work week is Tues. through Sat. Had a slightly better day today,,,took a couple extra happier pills and they helped. Will be a BIG help when Bill gets back to work,,,grrrrr

Ann,
Thanks,,,slow but sure. Will be looking forward to the new pics.

sarv,
Slow down already,,,,my gosh,,all that exercising, then shopping,,,,only 15%,,,grrrr well, I guess it's better than nothing.

Mary,
Thanks,,,yes, I'd rather throw something out than have food poisoning any day of the week,,,,,,YUK! Good for your husband helping that way. That kind of thing just p's me right off. Those people think that because the residents are old, they don't have a right to their own stuff or that they don't know what's going on. I'm glad that guy got put in jail. Hope you had a good ride and that your back is o.k.

billy,
Hi, I can't remember if we've met yet. If not, hi,,,if we have hi again,,,LOL Only a razor,,,I'll need an industrial strength buzz saw Tuesday morning,,and I Know that I'll miss some hair,,,grrrrr,,have to go for yearly exam,,,,YUK and EWE.

dmc,
Sorry to hear about the headache. Hope it is only Sinus and something will take it away. I would think it would be a good price,,,as long as everything works on it,,,I think it's a great price. I wouldn't mind a roomie. But, thanks,,,I hope my luck gets better soon too,,,I keep trying to convince God I REALLY Need a break for awhile,,,so far He's saying No. I just keep telling myself to quit it,,,there are people that are Much worse off than I am.

Susan,
You know I Can't pass that one up,,,I'll say the "or what",,ROFLOL Haven't asked you for awhile, how is the shoulder doing and how is DD doing?

Well, this is way long, and WAY past my bedtime,,,took a nap earlier so wasn't tired as early as normal.

See you all tomorrow,
Kelly

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

dcat,
We must have posted at the same time,,,,yep, I've been there and done that before also,,,what a pita. You think Dave would go for a found post forum? Grrrrr on the dogs in the gardens,,,maybe a BB in the butt would help teach them,,,,not too hard,,,just enough to sting a bit.

Well, falling asleep here now

Nite All,
Kelly
