Any news on the "almost black" flower?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Dave! Thanks for posting these flowers of Evelyn's. It gives me an idea what to look forward to from her cuttings. I still haven't potted her cuttings yet. They are just sitting upright together in a bucket on top of some soil. The weather should start warming up soon.

That is really great that you have gotten five of hers to bloom so far. Those flowers you posted are lovely. Those first flowers may be not opening all the way because they lack the energy, or as you said, it could be a shell like 'Peachglow Shell,' but your open flower doesn't look like 'Peachglow Shell' which has fatter petals, I think (see pic below of Peachglow Shell).

When I cut the bottom off of my 'Almost Black,' it looked really bad so I kept cutting until I found clean white wood, and since there was only a few inches left, I grafted the top piece. It took! It now is getting some leaves. I have her green striped one in with the mix, but the tag fell off so now I have no idea which one it is. I'm sure I'll label them as they bloom with their color and scent. I really like the 'bubblegum' description that you said about the pink. I sure hope I have that one! Thanks again.

Hi Clare, my shell type flower is not nearly as vibrant as the pic you posted. But the cutting was not very well rooted and I suppose it may look a little different next time it blooms.

About a week ago I ended up winning another 20 cuttings from one of her auctions.
It was said to include her "Ebony" cutting.Im hoping this is her "Almost Black" that she offered before. Its really hard to beat $2.25 apiece for cuttings delivered to my doorstep.

Heres another pic of #2

Dave, you are right: you can't really beat that price. That was my thinking too. That is a fantastic picture you posted of #3. I love the colors and the way they look against the back background. Stunning! I may have to go back for more! I'll be sure to post my pics of hers when they bloom. Thanks again for sharing, and please post more as yours open.

JungleBob,

I have been to Richlins farm many times and went to the hosue the other day. i am sure you would be sad to hear Blossom has since had her leg removed. Maybe about 6 months ago I think Rich said. She gets a long just fine though like nothing happened.

Flutter, this is an old thread from last April, and I don't think JungleBob reads the threads here anymore. He is over at MPG though every day so you can find him there.

I purchased neon lights about a month ago and its sending out a inflo I like it when it does that you know if you recived the right thing. Over half the plants I have that have not bloomed all have inflos starting like some one threw the switch. There are even a few that have bloomed going to again. I don't know if its the time of year or what.

While lusting after all of these pics, I was saddened that I didn't have a Plumie farm near me.... When SUDDENLY, I realized that it was probably a GOOD thing, as I'd surely be broke if one existed here.
