Selby also sells some beautiful Broms in their gift shop, for a very reasonable price. I'd love to own that property!

Mary,

The gift shop is where I got the Guzmania Hybrid, top photo of this new set, cost $40. It has two pups forming. They had one in the shop for $80, it had 5 spikes, it was beautiful and too much for my budget.

Here is one that I would like to get. Sun loving and bright colored foilage, a perfect combination. Hope it make lots of pups.

Your last plant is Aechmea blanchetiana, one of the very few that can take full Summer sun here - though it's really stressed when it gets that yellow. Another is Neoregelia cruenta "Sun King." It looks good here but absolutely terrific in the Florida sun at my daughter's garden in Orlando.

I will have to get the 'Sun King', thanks for the tip D Dave.

I love all your pic's everyone, Dale I have to say yours are amazing. i myself was never really into broms until we saw an add on craigslist, a lady was looking for help with her printer in exchange for a brom. My Boyfriend fixed her printer in exchange and she told us an interesting story to go with the plant...
About 20 years ago her neighbor was moving and there was a large planter in his yard, instead of leaving it for the new owner she asked if she could take it. In the container there were multiple bromiliads that the guy told her were over 100 years old (i don't know if this is old for a bromiliad or not!). She took the planter and about 10 years later a friend of hers who works for Quail Botanical Gardens (in San Diego) came by and made a comment as to their unique-ness. The friend then seperated them for her into many pots and took about half of them to the botanical gardens. She has been exchanging these pots for favors for the last 10 years!
My pot had 6 large plants in it before i divided. These plants are amazing even without flowers! Anyone know what type they are??

Abbie,

I don't really know the names of plants in this family, I would guess Neoreglia? I am more of a gerenalist, that is, I try and keep them alive and growing. For me they are an easy care plant for the landscape.
