My Boyfriend fixed her printer in exchange and she told us an interesting story to go with the plant... About 20 years ago her neighbor was moving and there was a large planter in his yard, instead of leaving it for the new owner she asked if she could take it. In the container there were multiple bromiliads that the guy told her were over 100 years old (i don't know if this is old for a bromiliad or not!). She took the planter and about 10 years later a friend of hers who works for Quail Botanical Gardens (in San Diego) came by and made a comment as to their unique-ness. The friend then seperated them for her into many pots and took about half of them to the botanical gardens. She has been exchanging these pots for favors for the last 10 years! My pot had 6 large plants in it before i divided. These plants are amazing even without flowers! Anyone know what type they are?? |
