Sure, it was for reckless conduct. But the headline still merits a chuckle, and maybe some other drunken gun-toting Neandethal out there will take it literally and think twice before repeating the mistake!

ToBee, the newspaper is the Illinois State Journal-Register, out of Springfield, Illinois. If you would like to buy the back issue for reference (or to threaten your nasty neighbor!) you can contact them at:

State Journal Register
One Copley Plaza
PO Box 219
Springfield, IL 62705-0219

Just print out the photo of the article and ask them for that issue -- I think it was 2 April.

Will, I'll take you up on that offer next time I get out your way, you can count on it! Same goes in reverse -- come and see us. (Hmmm, just maybe I'll put a shovel in your stout hands and put you to work . . . )

Hey thanks Guy,

Thanks for the invite. I know I say I'll come and help you out with your planting but something always comes up. This year it was landing my new home in March.

Hopefully, one of these years soon I can come and help you with your Spring digging.

Sorry to hijack your thread! It started out with Einstein shooting a tree!

Speaking of Arbor Day, I have a thread on a 2002 Redbud tree, (well actually its my Mom's, but it was mine first!)

guy...thanks! i did print out the "larger" copy and it was very clear. and yes, we wanted it for "legal" reference......because this guy next door to us could care less.

i think what was funny is how the guy just hated the tree our neighbor just didn't like something about our trees and don't even exactly know what....wheither he had been drinking or not..what kind of person hates a tree!! not my KIND!

but jokes on him!!!!!! the only ones on his property that he left standing.......and your going to love this.......have black knot disease so badly there is no saving them and of course...hehehehe...he left the elms.....which now have dutch elm's disease!!!!!!! no saving them either........so mr. next door neighbor has NO trees left himself! ( did warn him before he began his project about which trees should go and those where the only ones he left...LOL!)

You got to love that last line:

"I have a lot of trouble believing your conduct was solely related to a raccoon."
