Funny you should mention a bear. This is a thread on the Wildlife forum, about a bear from Magpye that is a LOL read!

Fireants....I hate them!
Sheila that was pretty amusing, I am not sure I'd have been so calm and I know my dumb little dog would have gottent too close, just not sure how Deb will handle that bear in her back yared.
Remember, I grew up in Montana...I have seen plenty of bears. Bear sightings, while on horseback is particularly interesting;' you have to turn the horses where they can all see the bear. Then they are OK with it--otherwise very skittish. Bears are a lot more predictable than you think.
As far as wild kingdom goes--the subject of the thread was insects.
April; I'm usually OK with mammels--its reptiles and rodents that unnerve me.
My goodness ya'll are up and 'perky' early this morning!

Took the weekend off (from this thread). We have had several bee scouting parties in our neighboorhood. Neighboor worked for a couple of weeks getting rid of the colony that set up houskeeping in tis entryway.
They were really checking out our covered patio. I used some wasp/hornet spray on the area - seemed to discourage them. See one or two now - not the dozen or so scouts we had last week.
Have y'all seen or followed the Africanized threads in the Phoenix area? Pretty severe. (Southwest Gardening)
Well I guess I can add bees to my list of things I need to worry about...I was getting a little low on subjects to worry about. Guess I better make a 'perimeter' check sometime today. I sure know they are quite fond of my beautyberry shrubs right now--they are akways heard buzzing around them.
Well I have to say that these bees were not particularly aggressive, I was very near them before it dawned on me that there were a lot of bees flying around me.
The very tiny ones you can hear if close but hard to see are the only ones I've seen lately....and they are just doing their jobs on the beautyberry, cucumbers (thank goodness--I'll never heard the end of it if they don't set fruit).
Well happily my bees are gone, did not return today, much to the dismay of my grandson. He just couldn't get enough of those pictures.
Ohh speaking of pictures, lovely seguay don't you think?
This is the Gloriosa lily- remember me saying that the ends curl around what ever it there to climb on? Well here are a few shots of that.
Yes, I do remember--cool--now just hope it emerges from its dormancy. How tall is your plant?
Looks like its a good candidate to try out my wire trellis kit I bought from LeeValley in February. Adheres to my 'bricks'.
Right now it's sent up 2 shoots and they are about 2 feet tall, they will taller, but this is not one that takes over the world- at least based on mine last year and my daughter's last and this year; think you will like it.
An orderly climber--I love it--by the way--got those 3 varieties of clitorea ternatea planted on Sunday and some dutchman's pipe vine. We shall see what we see...perhaps you will have 4 new vines to hack back soon.
Oh now won't that be cool? Haven't gotten to making your mex. flame vine cutting yet, but will tomorrow. Will have lots of Bauhinia Corymbosa seed if you are interested. Plenty of pods now, but just not ready.
My Bower vine's, Southern Belle, pod finally matured and I have tons of seed for that. It might be a bit tender, but can't be more so than Clerodenrum U. can it?
Bower vine seed, yes--mexican flame vine, yes. I'll have to look up that bauhinia up in PlantFiles...
Ok I will write your name on a bunch of seeds, w/ a very little pen.
Well you better write it as large as possible so I can read it. :)
HAHA
