How the hecl did I miss this one !
I have another question about pot size. I've heard the ⅓ rule and according to that, most of mine would be in 2" pots. I think that is sort of small. A 3" pot sounds better but it seems a lot are using the 4" ones. So what exaclty do I do? I have what I need to repot but just checking on size because using the ⅓ rule I would have all 12" plants and most are a lot smaller than that. Most are under 7", a couple are 9".

A miniature or and Semi-miniature plant will never need a pot larger than 2.50.
It's good to go up in steps and not skip to size too large. I think link above explains ?
Your 7-9 inch plant most likly are going to do best in a 3 inch pot or a 4 inch azela pot if needed a must. This is if they are Standard plants. You also have the root ball to take into concideration. A plant in a pot to large
the roots will go crazy trying to fill the pot , they can easliy be over watered and are not going to bloom for you.
When I joined local club I had to re-pot all my plants down to smaller pots !
People would come in with these hugh plant bursting with so mqny blooms in these tiny pots. And the plants were so happy and healthy !
When re-potting does not mean to a larger pot. A plant needs re-potting every 4-6 months ( or when needed ) even if the size if ok). When re-potting minis- semis they go into the same size pot but a new bleaches one. Take any old leaves off grooming, I trim old roots, and take soil orr of bottom on top tease roots to come out the sides and bottom. Give the plants new soil on the bottom and sides and top !
Uisng a pot too large you are setting your plant up for trouble :(
