Highlighted word for search item?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Is there a way that a searched word could be highlighted when it comes up in a thread? Example: I put in a search for "zelkova" and some of the threads are lengthy so it takes awhile to find that specific mention. Just a wish :)

Thanks, Dea

You can use Internet Explorer to do what you want. Do your search the way you normally would, then when you're on the page with the long thread go up top on the menu bar to "Edit", then select "Find on this page" then you can type in the word you're looking for and it'll take you one by one to each of the spots on the page where it finds that word. I'm sure other browsers have a similar feature.

Yes of course, I do that on everything else......now why didn't I do it right here? Guess when I'm here at Dave's, I occasionally forget I'm on the computer :)

Thanks for the reminder !!

This is the beauty of DG, learning something new every day. I never realized that was an option!

A shortcut key that I use is Ctrl-F (or the / key)

Hit that and then type your word and it'll skip you straight to it without needing to use the mouse. :)

Where do you do Ctrl F and type the word? I tried it in DG's search box, but it didn't work.

Click on anywhere in the browser window that is neither a link nor a text-area field. Then Ctr-F

Got it! Then it brings up the cool little yellow box at the bottom. Thanks!

I just tried both on mine and neither existed, but what I did find was at the bottom of the 'Edit' drop box at the top 'Find in Top Window Control+F'

Presto, it brings up a box by clicking on that, type the word, and it goes to it and highlights it. THANKS, the times I have moaned about having to read through a page and then not find what I wanted!

Just to recap on that, I had tried the 'Control' button on the right of the keyboard, no go, but the 'Control' +F at the left does!

Interesting! Sounds like your L-Ctrl is broken.... keyboards are pretty days, just in case any other keys start malfunctioning.
