Coffee and...For Sunday, March 26, 2006 =^..^=
Bonnie, I would wait to plant those glads and dahlias yet. The ground is still too cold. But in April, it should be fine to get then in the ground.
Have been reading all what has been written. You guys have been very busy.
I have been very busy too. Got back from my parents last Tues. nite very late and will be going back up there this coming Tues. Flying with my younger son.
My Dad has taken quite a toll lately. He was actually doing better when I was up there but the last day he had a tooth pulled and then totally collapse. I hated to leave my mom with him like that but....
So the next day, she called 911 because he couldn't breathe.
So with him being so weak and tired the past month, we found out why at the hospital.
He has pneumonia!!!!
Now I totally understand what was going on. It wasn't the cancer making him so tired and weak all of a sudden.
So he is on oxygen now and came home today. So hopefully, now he can get somewhat of a life back before he starts chemo.
Geez, I am kind of pissed at the doctors. He has had many doc. and nurses in the past month and NOBODY said a word on why he was so tired and weak. They never saw that he had pneumonia???
So life is busy.
I did go to a nursery today and just bought some garlic to plant in the garden. I hope to get the veg. garden planted tomorrow, or shall I say, plant some cold season stuff like peas, potatoes (first time ever doing pot.), onions, and broc.
Tho the weather will have to shape up. It was cold today, windy, and rainy.
Everyone sounds fairly healthy and happy here tho. And am glad.
Have a good Sunday all.
Carol (DR)
Hi all
I checked in a couple times yesterday, on the run, to read everyone's posts, but that seemed to use up whatever energy I might have had to post!
Still cold here but sunny and the length of days is encouraging. Although the ground is still pretty frosty, I pulled back mulch and found that so far all my daylilies seem to be sprouting. I put the mulch back over them though, I don't trust the weather at all. THere are lots of fat buds on my cherry trees, not much winter damage or dessication. That makes me pretty happy.
DR-Although it is maddening that no one diagnosed the pneumonia sooner, it must be somewhat of a relief to think your dad will improve...My thoughts and prayers are with you.Lucky you to be getting things planted. I do potatoes and I think they're a great crop to grow, easy and productive, as long as you have space. We always enjoy digging just enough new potatoes to throw on the grill with rosemary or dill.
9kitty-so sad about the kitty by the road
defoecat-ditto on the WAAAHHH I want a greenhouse!! It's tough this time of year because my kitchen is overrun with seedlings, my lights are all crowded, and that's just the perennials. Soon i'll have to find space for potted up tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cabbage, swiss chard....If the weather isn't too severe I put the delphiniums and hollyhocks (that's 100 plants right there ) on the deck (under the glass patio table at night) Our deck is somewhat sheltered and south facing) But I can't afford a mistake with the temp or I'm wiped out!
Elaine-just got to the part where you're dragging all your tomato plants in...yup, that will be me in a month...takes all day just to put them in and out!!
Ann-Glad the concert went well. Never thought about the physical stamina needed to play a long piece although it makes sense...you don't get to really move around, and it's a tough position to hold for a long time!
I need to get more coffee...have a great Sunday!!
I posted yesterday, but the mythical gremlins made it go POOOOF!! and I gave up. Or maybe it was Sammi helping. He insists on a lap when I'm at the computer, and hasn't grasped the concept of NO kitten on the keys. And I'm considering a laptop? I must be nuts.
Sold the dishwasher first thing yesterday morning! And got the $75 gift card from Sears, which DH has offered to buy from me for $70 cash, which saves me the trouble of putting it on Ebay or Sell-your-card and paying a commission. Darn ad cost $40 though, but I thought the chances of selling it locally were better through the paper.
Used it already and am very pleased with it. The racks are configured differently from any I had before so I have to get used to it.
Made a banana cream pie, so the pitiful amount that's left is on the counter for anyone who needs a quick bite. And there's fresh coffee. Talk about being absent minded, I bought a package of Kona coffee already ground and can't find it. Put it in a safe place, no doubt. I swear one of these days I'll be walking around with my underwear on the outside of my clothes.
DS and DIL bought a Kirby vac and gave the salesperson my name as a possible and like a fool I let them come in an do a demo. They have a very refined sales pitch, using the old technique of having the customer agree with you. " Yes, that's lots of dirt. " blah blah blah. I guess there's no question now that I am not consumed by the need to hunt down dirt and dust, and am quite willing to let my vacuum cleaner redistribute some of it..... I can't see paying an outrageous amount for a machine to do a chore that I detest!
During the demo she mentioned the lifetime guarantee, and I said that in my case, that wasn't much of a selling point, ten years would probably cover me! Her parting words were "So, you are completely satisfied with the inadequate cleaning job your vacuum cleaner is doing", to which I nodded cheerfully and said, "Yup, guess I'm just not very fussy". You can buy a Kirby on Ebay for half of what she said the price was. But you don't get the lifetime guarantee! LOL
You could repair it a lot of times for the extra $1000 they want for it.
I have total brain freeze this morning and can't remember what I put in the poofed post, so I'm just going to say hi to everybody and give a little ~~~~ and call it good. Hope all headaches, sleepless nights, nibbled seedlings and etc. are over with and everyone has a Sunny Sunday.
Sheila
m5-LOL at cheerfully admitting that you're "completely satisfied with the inadequate job your vaccuum cleaner is doing". If I wanted I could improve my vaccuum cleaner's performance tremendously, by turning it on....Now, if it would clean my windows it might be a different story. (when we finally start getting sun, the windows get on my nerves. still too cold to spray the outside too)
LOL My thinking exactly...I'm sure she couldn't have found nearly as much crud if I'd just haul my "inadequate cleaner" out more often and USE IT! Like I should care about dirt tucked away behind the baseboards and such....as far as I'm concerned, if I can't see it, it doesn't exist. They really do try to shame you into buying the product, she even called her boss (maybe?) to tell him all the reasons I wasn't buying the machine..... wasted an hour and a half of my remaining lifespan........ which is not going to be spent hunting dirt!!
LOL M5- they suckered you into listening to their sales pitch!! We got a call once that 'you have won a free carpet cleaning' - so like a #$% I said 'sure'. Well, it was the kirby people. This young gal came, could barely lug the cleaner in, then started in on her pitch. I was so ticked that I was suckered, that I was not very nice. Told her NO we didn't want a $2000 vaccuum no matter how wonderfully it cleaned. Which REALLY ticked me off was that she took out a quart jar of sand and dumped in right in a high traffic area and then proceeded to show us how well the kirby sucked it up.
I about blew a gasket!! She too had to call her boss and tell him we wouldn't be buying and would you believe he came over and tried to twist our arm too! He ended up offering to cut the price way back, offering to take payments etc. The poor young girl was crying...but we didn't give in. They called back a couple of years later with the same offer of carpet cleaning - boy did I let them have it!! Air was blue!
DR - glad they found out what was wrong with your dad. I told my DH that I was calling the doc on Monday. My breathing is just not right. I had pneumonia once before and had a terrible barking cough, and I don't have anything like that - just don't seem to be able to get a deep breath. What were your dad's symptoms? I remember I was absolutely exhausted too - get up, go to the pot, and go right back to bed. I'm not that tired this time, so I don't think it is pneumonia....but maybe it is walking pneumonia...
VI - lift weights!! I cannot believe the differnce it makes...I think I can even flex my arm and see a bulge...
Went to our wally world yesterday - it is an awful place. Just full of really scuzzy people. Bought some paper products, vitamins etc. Need to return an piece of underware I picked up without trying on...drat - hate to do returns... Did cruise the garden area - packages of plants with green growing thru the top etc.
Well, I need to forage thru the frig and see what I can scarf down....
Good Morning Carol and to all that follow
I feel sad for you and your very ill Dad, I can sympathize I know how difficult it is when a loved whose health is not what it should be.
PS neglected to send this right way, sorry
Now has anyone done this before, write some thing then forget to post it , senior problem I guess
I am getting a phone call, a male voice sayd call this # and that is it . this has happenend now three times, weird don't you think?
How can a vaccum be that expensive? must be made of gold or silver lol
M5, lol, have you found your coffee yet? i never can find anything any more, in the old big farm house I could find everything but here in this tiny house I always have to look for an empty space some where where it really should not be and of course I don't remember where that is.
The only guy I ever let into my house to demonstrate was the Fuller brush man, he wa a neighbor and a very nice man, if he had something I did not like he said don't blame you, I don't lke it either' of course that was many many years ago, now everything Fuller is done on line.
till later
Maria do not call that number. There are quite a few scams that involve you dialing a number, which allows the scammer to use your number and bill your phone co. for calls you did not make. Do not even think of using the number. If it was a legitimate call, they would leave a message. It may simply be a sales pitch, but don't take a chance.
Sarv, I knew I would get a sales pitch but the offer was to clean two areas, which of course did not come up until the very end, and then all I wanted was for her to get her .... out of my house. I am a very hard sell. I've heard every pitch from frozen foods, to windows, to magazines, to dishware, to pots and pans to encyclopedias, to you name it, and have only bought once. In 1952, I bought some crystal and flatware, and it lasted for ages, in fact I still have three dessert plates from the set. I gave my mom the glasses and I don't know where they went. What I don't like is the manipulation, which is easy to spot if you've raised children!!
Going shopping for a laptop and it's all your fault.
Sheila
Morning I think, well the thunderstorms are gone so I can get on here without the fear of a new hair do, LOL tho I do need a new do. Oh I posted the dessert called crap for anyone who wants it. It is great to take to barbques or anytime alot of people are coming over.
Sarv that happened to me too except I *won* my free carpet cleaning and they were not happy I was'nt buying the blasted thing. I mean mine too works great if I actually pull it out plug it in and use it. I prefer the experiments of dust bunnies vs the dust elephants game I have going on now.
Carol Dr's can be so frustrating at times, I hope your dad gets over the pneunmonia soon and feels better. Hugs to you and him.
Sheila check to fridge for the coffee....LOL yesterday I put the jelly in the pantry and the peanut butter in the fridge and then froze the roast we were having for dinner, it was a bad day...and thanks for the pie it was good...
Well Hi and hugs to all I missed and now to the grocery to have that bit of fun.... said sarcastically.............Lauri
Well, it has been a busy day. Went to church this morning, home fixed lunch, and then 2 dishes to take to a pot luck tonight. My life seems to revolve around cooking and cleaning, and lately going to the Dentist/Dr.
M5, I laughed about the underwear on the outside of the clothes. Do you remember the fad several years ago, when the guys were wearing the sweat pants with the shorts on the outside. That looked so totally ridiculous, but of course, some of the men's legs I have seen look pretty funny, so maybe it was a good thing!!
Sarv, go ahead and make that Dr. appointment, and why don't you drag DH along maybe get something for the cough, etc.
Maria, I don't have enough cabinet space, so everything has to have it's place.
Re: the kirby sweeper. Several years ago, DH let the sales people in. I sat through the demo, and was not going to buy. Then my DH, says honey don't you think that would be nice? I was looking daggers at him, but the jerk went ahead and bought it. That had to be 20 years ago, and I think it cost $1500.oo which was big bucks then. We could barely afford to pay the utilities then, so he sure got an earful when those people left. He ended up having to work some overtime, in order to make the payments!! I swear he is a push over when it comes to buying things. So if anyone has anything to sell, you will make one here if you catch DH.
Maria, I've gotten several of those calls. They say "we have been trying to reach you, please call ----". I say if they have been trying to reach me, they can call until they do. Don't fall for it.
dmc, I have a five shelf unit set up in a bedroom, and I have it full. I had 5 trays of tomatoes in the garage, but it was too chilly for them there, so I moved things around yesterday, and brought all the tomatoes in. I have many other annuals and perennials too, but may just have to stop sowing anything, cause I don't have anywhere to put them. I saw a neat thing on one of the DG forums, where you can make your own heat mat. Maybe gonna try that for next year. It is a heat tape, between 2 sheets of heavy plastic, edges glued together. Sure would beat the $$ of an itty bitty one. The first thing on my wish list is a greenhouse, and then a swimming pool. Looking into the swimming pool for this summer, as DGD is here all summer, and that would entertain her, plus, I probably would use it too, LOL.
DR, what kind of garlic to you plant? I have never raised it, but would like to try. Glad they found out about the pneumonia, now I bet your DF will be feeling better, and can build up strength to undergo the chemo.
Went to my DM's about an hour ago, and got my wheel barrow. It has been there since last fall. My DH goes by her house sometimes 3 or 4 times a day in the pick up, and have mentioned it many times, "why don't you stop and get the wheel barrow?" So he comes in after I got home with it, and said why didn't you let me know that you were going to get it, and I would have loaded it for you!! Yeah, right, since I have been asking since last November!!. Now, I can get out and get some of the debris cleaned from the yard this week.
Well, gonna go, and take a little nap, as I didn't get to bed until after 3:00 this morning. Almost nodded off during church.
lauriewilson, 101, Viann, not ignoring you, just can't keep they eyes open any longer ~~~ to you.
LOL
If I wanted I could improve my vaccuum cleaner's performance tremendously, by turning it on....
Ain't it the truth! Me - I'm in the Electrolux camp. The one I bought in 1975 is still going strong - daughter in Vancouver has it. I was gradually making it over into a new machine part by part, but 5 or 6 years ago decided to invest in a new one.
Glad the new dishwasher is in and working Sheila.
Carol, glad they finally diagnosed the pneumonia and hope DF improves quickly once they have.
I would also like a green house. But it would have to be easy to get to because the patio is still covered with snow. dmc - are you really a whole zone colder than Ottawa? Are you higher altitude? I've not started any seeds yet, but will soon. I have two flourescent fixtures of lights under which I already have a number of plants. Am wondering if I can plant the winter hardy stuff and just set them outside to stay.
re sales pitches - how many times have you sat through the one where a neighbourhood kid is selling knives? I've never bought. I'm quite happy with my wonderful German knoves, but it always seems the kid has to reach a quota of showings.
Maria - I'm with the others. DO NOT call that number. There are too many scams out there that target seniors.
Lauri - glad your yesterday is over. Hope today works better.
More later.
Ann
Afternoon, I'm in my chair with the trusty heating pad on - just can't get warmed up again today. The sun is out outof doors, but it is still cold....
I 'did' my hair today - tried a new highlighting kit. You paint it on with a bottle brush looking thing. It was called caramel and that is exactly what my hair looks like - not sure it is my favorite, but it is a change.. Last time I did it my MIL told me she didn't know why I put gray in my hair - she won't be able to say that now!
I'm watching my 2nd movie for the day. Both of them have been scarey ones and I usually don't watch that kind of show.
Maria, I'll chime in with the rest - don't call them back...If it is important, they will call you back. Yesterday I got two calls asking for $$. I am getting so I just hang up the phone after I hear them start on their spiel. We are registered with the 'don't call' list, so these must be people I gave to at one time. drat
I've got something stuck in my toe and it is giving me grief. Can't lift my leg high enough to take a look at it, but when I walk, it hurts. ouch - maybe I will soak it later on.
Laurie - LOL at your day - glad it wasn't here.
Ok, there's a lurker that needs to come and join us at the table - come on KIDNEYGUY!! Take a seat and tell us about yourself...we're waiting!!
Yeah, Kidneyguy, come on in and set a spell. We know you are out there. LOL (We have spies everywhere)
We went out and did some clean up this afternoon. Lots of green little bits trying to get to the light. Mums, snapdragons, tulips, snowdrops, and sedum, picked up a lot of dead plant material, pruned one climber rose and then stood and stared at another for a while, but didn't tackle it. Almost filled the big trailer in about two hours..
Sarv, I hope you're happy, I went and did it! Bought a laptop. (Used the money I saved not buying that Kirby!) Got a pretty good deal at BestBuy, and the battery is charging right now. You might be using that same Loreal kit I use, because the highlighter brush does look like a little bottle brush. It works well for me and I like the color. I use the #73 toasted almond or something. Figures for you and me, it would be food, LOL!
I'm having an afternoon snack of danish blue cheese, sharp cheddar, a smidgeon of brie, with cantelope, watermelon and honey dew, and crackers. Help yourselves. The blue cheese is excellent.
DH can't resist a bargain on a car, or a kid sellling anything! I usually don't let him answer the door. Once he bought a vacation package for $400, over the phone and we never used it. What a waste. He hates to travel anyway so I never figured out why he even bought it. Girl Scout cookies, Christmas wreaths, candy bars, they find him at the office, as coworkers have kids doing fund raisers and he always buys something. Once I found boxes of cookies in his car....!! He kept forgetting to bring them in and eventually ate them all up.
Dmcd, they did say you could use it to clean windows...but my B.S. meter was already on high so that just flew in one ear and out the other. I'm sure! Spray your windows and then vac off the cleaner?
Laurie, thanks for the hint...checked the frig, no coffee. It's in a sealed package so if I find it by this summer it will probably still be all right. LOL I hope so! Better check some of my seldom used soup or canning kettles....
DR, I'm sure your DF will improve now that they have discovered the pneumonia. They must have focused only on the condition they were treating, and then chalked every other symptom up to that. I think that's called tunnel vision. I hope he feels much better soon. This has been terribly wearing on him. And you. Wishing better days ahead, from all of us.
Since Sammi has been such an invalid ( a jumping leaping running invalid) Souky seems to have forgiven him his prior behavior, or else she thinks he's a different cat...whatever, they were sleeping almost nose to nose this afternoon. Can you believe the size of him? He's just growing like a weed. He wants to eat any time one of us goes in the kitchen. Yeow! Yeow! Little oinker.
~~ to Kooger, Elaine, Maria, Dcat, MaryE, Darius, Okus (where are you?) Woodspirit, Molly, Robert Ernie, and Oz, plus anyone I missed, and the new kids whose names aren't stuck in my head yet. . Battery should be charged, have to see how my new toy works.

Sheila
Lurking too for a minute, I hung up up anyway just wondered if you ever had a call where some one just asked to call this # he gave, and very firm about it to boot, lol.
I am cold too , wmder if we ever get nice spring weather, probably not suddenly the heat of summer will be here.
Went shopping with one of my daughters, easter stuff for her grand daughter, did I tell you GGD is going to have a little brother this summer?
Sarv, a splinter maybe in your toe?
Think I am just going to have a bowl of soup perhaps it will warm me up
Here is Samson with a present my SIL gave him
Wow your SIL gives nice big gifts Maria! He likes that much better than his little bone!
m5-Sammi is so not a kitten any more! Even if the vaccuum DID do windows, I'd still have to drag it on and turn it on, right? SO it won't work any better than the one I have. A laptop is much more useful, you can use it sitting in a comfy chair!
sarv-ouch on the toe. Luckily i've been having hot flashes today, so I've been staying warm LOL otherwise I'd be complaining about that!
Ann I just went by the map to get zone 4. This winter was not a problem at all, and I've gotten away with some zone 5 plants just fine. I never could get booms on a Nikko blue hydrangea, and some fruit trees died out - I think there's always the chance here of 30 below. With shrubs and trees above the snow, that's where i get clobbered. If we get global warming, that could all change too.
Hi There,
A lovely sunny day here today and very mild. Snowbanks receded a foot or more. I posted pics of my snowy front lawn on the Hosta Gab Fest thread yesterday
http://www.davesgarden.com/forums/t/578631/
Also thought you might enjoy this pic of my bells. We stand right in front of some modern stained glass windows and had been enjoying how they reflect on the bells. This morning, I remembered the camera.
Ann
DH is making dinner- BBQ's - help yourself!!
M5- I KNEW you'd get one....now we can think of each other sitting in the chair and typing away. My kitty sits on the arm of the chair and watches... My hair color is 'caramel' - looks kinda orangish! Too bad I didn't do it in Oct in time for Halloween! Never thought about the 'food' part of it... LOL I think we are twins....
Vi - beautiful pics. I love to listen to bells...
dm - have you ever tried endless summer hydrangea? Mine did great in zone 5. I have two nikkos that I planted last year - we'll see if they made it... Endless summers bloom over and over too - a plus for sure.
I put on my jammies and greased up my chest and nose with vicks...still have a tight chest..very annoying. Can't decide if it is something I need to see the doc about or let it ride for awhile. I have a lunch planned for tomorrow and don't want to miss it!! (always food)
What ever was in my toe - disppeared...feels fine now..
Maria - cute pic of Samson..did he make it thru the night last night? Our cat cries and scratches every morning at 5am. How does she know the time...wants to be let out, rain or shine, summer or winter...
Well, need to go, DH just delivered a plate to me - I have him trained well...
Blast this CRS anyway! We got back from the Boston Gift Show about two hours or so ago and I was feeling okay ---- had found a couple of new vendors that might be useful, the seminar was alright, etc., etc. And THEN I started looking at the catalogs and materials I'd brought home and couldn't find one for one vendor that I definitely want to order from. I want to make up a kind of New England gift basket and they had the wild blueberry muffin mix that I've been looking for and lots of other good stuff besides (like the blueberry-filled chocolate, YUM!) After spending about an hour trying to figure out just where their booth was amidst hundreds of other vendors (because of course neither DH nor I could remember the name of the company -- funny how little details like that can just slip right out of your mind), I started searching the internet from several different angles. Of course I was metally beating myself up during all of this ---- as in "How stupid can you get, forgetting to get a catalog, forgetting to go back to the booth after lunch and just placing the darn order", etc. Well, I think that I finally did ID the company and just then a little light went on in my brain (ah, somebody home at last!) and it dawned on me "Oh yeah, didn't he say they'd run out of catalogs and didn't I give him my business card so they could contact me???" Well, THAT was pretty aerobic! Maybe it even made up for the 10 minutes of exercise that I didn't get this morning because we had to get on the road. Sorry if I bored anyone with all that, but I really needed to get it off my chest.
Speaking of chests, Sarv, that difficulty in breathing doesn't sound too good. Please try to find out what's going on and please also keep us all up to date. (This from someone who avoids doctors like the plague ---- but when it comes to problems breathing, I give in.)
Maria, Samson sure seems to be enjoying his gift. Do you think the old one was too small?
M5, I agree with Dmcd, Sammi sure doesn't look much like a kitten anymore, but he's turning into a very handsome cat. Glad to hear that Souky is more accepting of his presence these days.
V-ann, nice pic of the stained glass reflections in your bells. I don't think that I've ever actually heard a hand-bell concert, but I do love windchimes. Is there any resemblance, do you think?
I got one of those "clean your carpet" calls too, but this time the joke was on them. I had it done in my store and it was carpet shampooing as well as vacuuming. The guy took one look around and obviously KNEW that we were not going to put that kind of money into a machine like that, but he cleaned the carpet anyway, and without the sales pitch. Oh yeah, and MY vacuums would do a lot better job if I only turned them on, too. I made sure to get a good one for the store so it would stand up to industrial use ---- ha, ha, what a joke. I have an awful tendency not to use it until I almost need a shovel. It always seems that there's a million other things to do first and then it's too late as I can't hear the phone if the vacuum's on.
Bonnie, in answer to your question yesterday --- yes, I expect to be here tomorrow (and hopefully in a bit calmer mood). Looking forward to talking with you.
Dr, so sorry about your dad, but at least this is something that can be treated and hopefully he'll feel a lot better afterwards.
Lauri, misery loves company. You're certainly not alone in having that kind of a day ---- just look at the kind of day I've been having today! Yesterday I was looking for a bottle of white wine that I was sure I'd brought up from the cellar. I couldn't figure out what in the world had happened to it until that little light went on and I remembered that I'd put it in the freezer to chill it quickly. Aaaaarrgghh! I was lucky this time, it just pushed the cork out instead of the bottle bursting. I was quite happy not to find a freezer full of broken glass!
Hi to 9kitty, 101, kooger, and all our absent friends (yeah, I've been wondering what happened to okus as well). I may be back later, but not sure. If not, I'm wishing you all a restful night.
Sheila, the cheeses sound wonderful, Cheese is on the top of my favorite foods pyramid.
Here it is 4:35 PST and my dear one's plane supposedly landed half an hour ago. Have pasta with a creamy shrimp and asparagus sauce, avocado/tomato salad, stir fried veggies, fresh French bread and maybe a bottle of wine planned for dinner. Hope she'd hungry. The TV room which has taken all of my efforts to re-do is all but finished. 4 short pieces of picture rail are all that's left. Then to find the best deal on a 17" LCD/DVD combo TV and I'll be a happy camper (provided I don't have to go camping). The relief and wind-down after a week of intense reworking, and visiting friend John in the hospital , is consisting of a couple glasses of my favorite Single Malt (Balvenie Port Wood of course) and I feel it is time to refill my libation again. My best to all you extraordinary folks. Talk to you tomorrow.
robnert
I used to listen to Glockenspiel a lot when I lived in Vienna, Ann, always enjoyed it. Freat photo of the bells!
No Samson dd not wake me up last, Sarv, and did not till about 7:30. I must say I have been sleeping much better lately but just wait till we change the time again, I'll wake up an hour late for quite a while lol
I do not feel to comfortable using my laptop, first of all I have to use a mouse since I find pushing the curser with my finger awkward so you see it is never in my lap.
Wow, where has the day gone? Don't know ... but I'm finally checking in.
Just have to staart with this first about vacuuming. :)
Quoted
"as far as I'm concerned, if I can't see it, it doesn't exist." LOL LOL ;)
The DH and I got suckered into the *one* and only in home demonstration we've ever had. It was over a water softener. It was back in those young and dumb days. We bought the thing ... couldn't afford it, so made payments with *very* high interest rates. Live and learn. It was one of those deals where you *must* buy today or the price will mysteriously go up tomorrow. LOL Anyway, it taught us how to sleep before making a decision. Every now and then we drive by our old house just to look at that lesson we learned. LOL
Carol, I'm so glad they found out about your Dad's pneumonia. Can't figure how in the world doctors can be treating you and not know a thing like that, but maybe he'll start feeling better now. I'm so glad you're getting to spend so much time with him.
Maria bet Samson loves his new toy! Do be careful of scams, okay?
Hi Defoe, I'm sorry I haven't Dmailed you a list for you to help me with. I haven't worked on the RR any today. Have been extremely busy. I'm still shooting for Tuesday to get it in the mail, though so still may need your assistance.
Meezers, a new laptop? Oooh, I was telling the DH just the other day that I *really* needed one so I could keep up with the latest info and stay connected when we were on the road. :) By the way, that afternoon snack sounded heavenly!
Hi to DMC, McCool, Sarv, Susan and everyone else I've neglected to mention. Will check back later after I check my other threads.
... Elaine
Hi All,
Well, finally home. Gosh, this is getting harder and harder every year,,,,We only have 3 years left as Kelsey will be graduating in 3 years.
Again, they had a really cute show. Unfortunately, I GOt to the arena and turned my camera on to take a pic and it said Change batteries. Before I had left home, I charged my other set of batteries so it was all good,,,,,until, I forgot the charged set at the Hotel,,,,,Duh moment,,,grrrrrrr
Although, I do have some pics of after the show, back at the hotel and of Kelsey at one of her competitions.
Here's a 4 generation pic, Kelsey, my Mom, my Gran and my Brother.
I asked her mother to take pics at the Ice Show today and e-mail them to me. It is questionable as to if she will or not. She kinda forgets to send us pics. She still has ours from about the last 3 Ice Shows.
Well, been a long day and a tiring trip, gonna go veg in front of the TV. See you all tomorrow.
Kel
Kelly,
Glad you got home safe and sound. Your neice is very cute. I've met your Gran, and it's nice to see you mom and brother as well.
Put your feet up and relax.
Marie
Hi Kelly ~ so glad you had a nice day. don't you just hate it when you have those senior moments? grrr I kept having them all day long today, but at least it wasn't anything as important. :) Glad you managed to get some pics, though. Know what you mean about never getting promised ones. I'd have a room full if I had all those everyone was gonna give me but never did. Guess they always wondered why I wanted pics. LOL How's Bill doing with his sleep? Hope he's getting adjusted. Been thinking about you both. :-)
Well, it's getting cold here ... already 44. Now I *know* that doesn't sound cold to y'all up north but it's that damp cold and I just *can't* get warm. Think I'll go take a hot bath. Be back when I get comfy.
... Elaine
Hi everyone, I see we have a Marie from WI, welcome.
Maria, Samson, just needed that larger bone. The other one is for the little fellas!. Good pic.
M5, Sammi is not a kitty any more, He is a handsome young man!! Glad that he and Souky are getting along better, maybe she knows he is a "changed man"!! LOL.
Sarv, and M5 what's up with the food name hair colors? Don't they still have brown, black, blonde etc? Sarv, don't try to put anything over the "orange", just let it go, you may end up with green hair, and as you know St. Patricks day is over!!
You mean we have a lurker, named Kidney Guy? How do you know this? Does it appear somewhere who is watching us? Alright KG, come on in, quit lurking, and tell us all about yourselves. I haven't put anything on the counter for awhile, so I will do some blueberry muffins for in the morning. Did that entice you?
ViAnn, the reflections on the handbells are just awesome. I meant to comment on the stamina thing about holding the instrument so long, would hand weights help? Maybe it is just the position that has to be held so long.
McCool, don't worry about the CRS thing. I have it at least once a day, and some days, it lasts all day. It is frustrating, I know, but glad that you had some practive using the resources on the internet!! Just keep up your skill level. LOL. I will be home from the dentist about 10:30 or so, and will give you a call. Hey that pop corn you included in my package is really neat. Thanks.
GG good pics. Love the generation thing. Wish I had some of those, but alas, don't so will have to rely on the memory. Oh God that is a scary thought. I only remember 1 grandfather, and have few pictures of him. Things like that weren't import many years ago. Guess we thought everyone would live forever. Hey, you are a very lovely family.
101, if you d-mail me in the morning, I will work on the descriptions, and get the info to you by afternoon, so you can get the RR on it's way.
Bal that dinner sounded wonderful. Wish you had posted earlier, or I had read earlier, I may have been the "guess who's coming to dinner" person!!
M5, that cheese snack sounded good too. Only thing missing was the wine!!
dmc, fruit trees here are an iffy proposition too. Would love to have many, apples, peaches, cherry, pear, etc, but most years, we have a late freeze that zaps the blooms, hence no fruit. I am not one to coddle the plants, so would not go out and cover a huge tree. Just depend on the farmers market to get the farm grown fruit, if we have a good year.
Well, I am sitting here in pain, back pain. Loading that wheel barrow this afternoon, has taken it's toll. Now I have something substantial that I can blame DH for!!. He should have already had it home for me.
Oh, and the pot luck supper that was supposed to be tonight. Fixed my dishes, a hash brown casserole and a banana/peanut salad. got to the church at the appointed time and no one there. DH says well, you have screwed up again. Made me really mad, so waited a few minutes, thinking everyone was running behind, then came home. Had a copy of a church calendar on the fridge, and sure enough it had it listed. We went back at the regular service time, and found out that the one time I didn't attend (but DH did) they postponed it. So I say to him, if you had been listening, instead of talking, you would have known to tell me that it was postponed. Anyway, have a head start on dinner tomorrow night!!.
Well, gonna go check some other forums, but probably won't be back tonight. I have a dentist appointment (cleaning) and DH has a chiro appointment so will be away tomorrow morning. I hope to get out and do some more clean up, but will have to see how the back is. Maybe I need the chiro, and DH the dentist, think we could switch?
To all of you, whether I have mentioned you or not, please know that I think of you all, and if away, can't get back to see what has been going on. You are dear special people to me.
Have a peaceful, restful night.
Well, I wasted my morning again. Was going to get busy, sat down and woke up at 12:30.
Then I spent until 3:30 sitting at this silly computer listing stuff for ebay. I am pulling beanies out and putting them out there. I know they won't sell, but I sure would like to get rid of the dang things.
I decided I had to go in to town to WalMart and get pots because I ran out yesterday. Then I went to Lowes to get potting soil and picked up some more violas because they are soooooo pretty.
Checked out their hosta they had just gotten in. They had golden tiara and so sweet. Both were so badly infected with virus X that I couldn't believe it. And they don't care, no idea what virus X is. I feel very bad for the people who are going to buy these. And infect their others if they have them. Wish there was a way to educate these stores. No wonder the virus is spreading so fast. ugh
Haven't done much else today. Read all the posts, Kelly, your niece is adorable.
Defoe, what are you doing hurting your back with the wheel barrow? Don't you know you are not supposed to be like me and over do???LOL
Here is tomorrow's daily...
