Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I got them from the fern vendor who also have the AVS up ...3 for 10.00 can you believe it.
Many of them are full of suckers also :)

Looking glass reminds me of leprechaun's dream which was on my wishlist

Now this photo is something that is also for my terrarium :) though hubby wants to steal some for his yard also..it is mini bamboo, bamboo grass or house bamboo depending on who you talk to.

The one at Harry Leiu gardens...It was in Orlando :) I didnt' expect to find AVS at all! But oh my did we have FUN!

Here is a type of fern (I think) It had no tag...but was sold by the fern vendor..anyone know what it is? It is for my terrarium and there is enough to share if anyone else wants some for their terrarium :)

Lorry that unidentified red fern is beyond belief! How pretty, you are going to create an amazing terrarium, your plants are beautiful!! If you have suckers of the red fern I'd be happy to trade, beg, plead or send you my 1st born child! It's amazing. Are all of these going to fit in the terrarium? I have never done one and in my own yard am always being accused by jealous family members of over planting! One that I would like to use in the event I actually create one is dwarf Hawaiian Snow Bush- Breynea...something, something, something... lovely varigaited round/oval shapped leaves that are green and white or green, white and pink. Might look nice w/ your "Fire Fern"- but that's just my thought.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh Lorry, you were reading my mind!!!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Lorry, those tags in the AV's are from Harmony (as in Harmony's Little Stinker) and of many begonia's fame.
They are in the Orlando area (in Sorento, not sure exactly how close that is to Orlando)

I believe PJ's and Aurika also buy either from them or through one of their wholesale buyers. You done gooood girl!

Frilly Dilly has been going for the big bucks on eBay.

AND OH MY GOODNESS ON THE LOOKING GLASS. Did you hear the thump when I fell out of my chair?
Coming back to FL to nab that one from you! WOWZA KAZOWZA!

I dont know who your begonia is, but I'll send Butch or Joolz over to help id it. And speaking of a bad influence, look what leapt into my basket today...

Laurie I bought 3 of those, 2 that pink and 1 darker, to put in a planter for my grandson and I too look at. He likes plants and I couldn't resist them, they are so pretty. Yours looks beautiful.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

normally I'd pass by a cryptanthus, but the pink (which is somewhat electric in person) was too much to say no to.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Laurie now where did you buy all these beauties. Mom bought Looking glass at a show last year I think. She gave me leaves mine died :((. She said last time she visited the edging waent away and it's blooming solid. Yours are beautiful :))

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Lorry Frilly Dilly goes real high $$$ on Ebay . Can you put a leaf down for me pretty please :)) You are so lucky where did you get theses. Oh how I wished I could go there.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh Laurie love your pink plant too !
OK I have mine from Lorry. I think she says it gets 6 inches. Has beautiful bright coloring. Does it grow inside, pot, grownd, under lights ? Help please.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh, you had a *wonderful* trip to the plant sale!! You knew I was going to just flip over 'Buckeye Fiesta'... and your new terrarium plants are outstanding! What a wonderful combination of form & texture & color!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Yes..Snow bush is common here and I believe you can buy the dwarf variety on violetbarn.com. I actually thought about getting it but they do still get rather large

On the unidentified fern. I dont' believe fern suckers but they are easy to just cut out and send sections of..they grow pretty quickly also..So I would definitely send you some April :) and I will even let you keep your first born.
And my terrarium is a 20 gallon long tank (the longs have more floor room so are goo for this) So yes, I should be able to fit quite a bit into it..and if I have to LOL I will just make a second terrarium. I got the tank at our local petstore for 30.00.

Laurie..One of them is a Harmony even...harmony's frilly dilly I believe....I have many with those tags PJ and aurikab She is in FL also so I am not surprised they are in FL.
I seen it go for a lot on ebay and wanted to buy it but would not pay those prices. This lady had a great selection :) I wanted to take them ALL home :) LOL. I HAD to have looking glass those as it looks like leprechaun's dream which I have wanted forever!

LOL I should have gotten a couple extras of her. I didn't realize how much people would like her..but many of them have suckers (I need to transplant today) If they do..I will put your name on a looking glass :) Lord knows you are welcome to anything I own gal, you know that! And if she doesn't. I can send you a couple of leaves! They can all spare some! And I have another box of goodies for ya building up here :)

OH PRETTY cryptanthus..where on earth did you get it? I LOVE them! I have a couple similar to that one :) Did I send you a raspberry baby :)

and I know which Rex I got it is raspberry snow or something like that..it has a tag on it...It was the orange and green plant and the fern that I don't know about :)

April...they are cryptanthus..my other fascination :) that is why Laurie said I am a bad influence :) I adore them..they are bromeliads....a true ground dweller though :) Very easy to grow..just don't overwater them :) They pup either between the leaves which you can pluck out or they cascade :) like a spider plant depending on the variety. I have one that is a deep red with dark streaks in the middle (the center on in this picture) I have three pups of it now....if you dont' already have it.>I can send you one :)
Oh and one of my cryptanthus is blooming right now! A lovely dainty white flower! I am just fawning all over it!

Allison...I assume you means me :) hehe we are easy to confuse. I bought all of these at the Leiu gardens sale..in Orlando..it is a botanical garden. The lady who sells ferns had them for 3 for 10.00. As I said to Laurie..many of them have suckers which I need to tend to today. If Looking glass has some..I would be happy to put your name on the second one :) Or I can send you more leaves if you like. They all have plenty they could spare. :)
Frilly dilly also came from the sale :) I would be happy to put down a leaf...or she may have suckers too and the first one is yours if you would like it. I could also send you some leaves of them if you want. :) I have about a 50/50 success rate with my leaves at present.

You don't need to put them under lights Allison :) Cryptanthus that is :) Just pop in in a pot with some soil..Dont' overwater him and let it do it's thing :) they are shade lovers like most bromeliads ......so he should grow anywhere you place him :) He can be inside or outside..just dont' put him in direct sun...indirect is fine..Mine all live in my screen enclosure.

LOL critter....Fiesta is cool isn't it? I should have bought her out with the plants. I guess I was just not thinking! As I said to everyone..most of these have suckers I need to pull. I would be happy to put your name on one if she has some..and if not..I would be happy to send you some leaves of her :)

Oh my Lorry everything is so wonderful. Sometimes I type your names wrong but know whom I'm talking about .
The Cryptanthus you sent me is so pretty colors so bright. I've had it under lights end of tube and it seems happy. Maybe I should move it to outside shady part of our deck ?
I just love the colors so strong and vivid. Not to mention adorable :)) I am so Thankful for it I love it :)) Thanks Lorry. I will be happy to get any leaves or suckers babies from your New Frilly Dilly and Looking Glass you can spare. Anything I have you can have always :))

Did you see Laurie's new Chimera Sport of Irish Paradise that opened yesterday and I sent it to her a few weeks ago. Oh my :))

It's hidden in bottom of thread !

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

What a great day you had Lorry. You brought home lots of goodies! Love the AV;s

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

As long as it is not burning Allison :) You are fine..they can take a fair amount of light but will burn in direct sun :) so wherever you want to keep him is fine :)

I am very happy Jannich

Oh and Allison..I pulled like 7 suckers off of frilly dilly..about 5-7 off of looking glass...2 off os fiesta and like 5 off of my music box dancer (which I had not repotted in a while :)

So if you want suckers of looking glass and frilly dilly you are welcome to them and that goes for you also Laurie :)

I seen the chimera and it is totally striking :) I am amazed at the color! Wow :)

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Lorry, I was just cruising through a nursery on my way home from the AVSA meeting and they had half a dozen. This one was $6 so I figured I could give it a go.

The soil blend is more like peat, and it's pretty dry right now. When you say don't over water, do you mean let it go dry in between, or nearly dry similar to the AV's?

This on in your corner looks like the one I got. Very electric neon pink. It almost glows. But you are so excited about them, it's like the Ping's I figured I was missing something so I better give one a try. They had some nice tsilandias too just all plump and budded, but I passed them up.

ahem... can I beg a frilly dilly too? I have extra Royal Viking from yesterday if you want to trade?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Ok update on frilly dilly..it isn't frilly dilly..is says frilly dealy but I am not sure it is that. it is definitely mislabeled..the flower is opening and it is purplish with green around the edges.
You guys still want babies from it? and do you know who it is?

Looks like it MAY be really frilly
Ebay item
7754485985
But frilly dilly is white and this definitely isn't white

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I am mostly into crypts..the ones I bought I got at the bromeliad society for like 7.00 :)
And of course you can have a baby! Though as I said..I think it is mislabeled..it looks more like really frilly..still want one? if so it is yours!

I never heard of royal viking..what does it look like? it isn't in FC

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

There is a Frilly Dilly and a Frilly Dealy. Could email aurikab and ask as she sells both.
