I live about 2 blocks south of that park on Highland near Washington. I'll have to check out the trees you planted to see if they are still there.
I don't remember the types of Oaks the village has been planting, but we have definitely been planting more oaks than a few years ago. I would consult with the forester before planting oaks on my jobs, just more of a comment on a tree most here will agree is better than a pear.
