okay a friend is staying with us as her house burnt down and her yard too. so far four houses have burnt due to people burning their yards under a state wide fire ban so far. she didnt burn her yard but her neighbor did and it got out of control took her house and his
i have given her almost ever seed i own to help her out but the question i was wondering is this
she had alot of bulbs that havent come up yet. we cant get her back to her house monday due to investigation. do you think any of the bulbs survived?? these were in a raised beds next to the house. the daffodils are a gonner due to the fire but am also wondering if the bulbs will be okay for next year??
what about the azelias? if we cut them back do you think they might survive? she is gonna rebuild on the same property but we dont know the extent of the damage to the yard yet. the house is totally gone.
thanks for the answers.
questions please
HI, I would think that the bulbs would be fine. The azalea-maybe the cutback? Sure hope so.
I hope that her insurance / legal recourse covers her neighbors' criminal disregard of rules. Hopefully she can get $$ to replace her plants.
her insurance has been filed but we wont know anything till the police are finished and she has already gotten a lawyer. i am scared to even cut my yard its so dry here and the wind is blowing alot too. some people just dont care about the bans.
Are you planning to dig up what you can and move it? I ask this because I fear whatever the fire did not take, demolition and construction might take. :( What an unfortunate situation!
yes if anything is salvagable then next week first thing i am planning to go with her and start digging up what can be.
thats why we? me are asking about the bulbs and the azelias being cut and dug. if they cant be then they will be left.
she is gonna rebuild but wants to get everything out the way that can be saved. my yard will be a storage place.
its been a bad few days but so far everything is going smoothly. knock on wood. its just been hard and thankfully i have an extra room they are staying in. so no hotel bills.
the boxwoods she had are gonners. her trellis on the front porch had a wisteria on it and we are gonna see if we cant transplant it unless the firemen trampled it.
everytime i think about it i want to cry then i want to go yell at the neighbor.
through Dg friends trading with me and sases she has planty of seeds.
the only thing that will be hard to replace are some of her tropical cactuses.( or is it cacti).
