My son has to create a 3 d model of a Cell for Biology... he wants it to be edible.
I was thinking a cake mix in a coffee can maybe? I don't have any ball mold type pans... what could I use?
Any other ideas or suggestions? I thought about a head of cabbage cut in half too... not sure that is what he had in mind for "edible" but, I'd think it would work??
Help/Suggestions GREATLY appreciated.

Ideas for an edible Cell Model???
Well, I can tell you what NOT to use. Jello. Some kids got to school and had green juice with floaters. LOL
We did ours out of a pillar candle, which you probably wouldn't want to eat. But it smelled good!
Morganne said several kids made big cookie cakes.
She also said some kids used cake and their *stuff* sunk into the cake and icing.
What type of cell does he have to do? Morganne had a choice of plant or animal and picked plant.
We just went out to wait for the bus and my eldest had me rolling! She remembered that one kid made their cell out of a styrofoam ball and dropped it just as the bus came. We know what happened to that one! Of course all the kids were hysterical with laughter. So the kid tells them it was NOT funny! So Morganne tells them it WOULD have been funny if it was hers. And the kid replies that that really would have been funny but since it was their own, it was not! LOL
OMGosh, all that work to drop it! Go Morganne for standing up for the kid. :-)
this "project" absolutely KILLS me because this is like the 5th Cell project he's had to do this year. And this is for AP Biology! Back in the good ole days when *I* was in Biology, we were dissecting worms, frogs, bat dung, all kinds of cool stuff. Yes, I have "issues" with this teacher, but that is another story.
Anyway, he's doing a plant cell, Eden did one when she was in Biology and made a HUGE sugar cookie and then did all the parts in candy and icing.
Yeah, Morganne is in 6th grade and just did it in November I think.
I have to say I am surprised to see it, especially in AP anything! Oh, you left out saliva under a microscope! LOL
