Yes, your pics are so pretty and interesting, please don't forget to do the Plant Files entries for the species glad and the South African amaryllis---can anybody ID that one, I wonder?---, too)
Your pics show some delightful color-play between the tulips, daffs and other flowers and berries. Lot's of fun!
Smith College Bulb Show
A wonderful selection of plants - the gladioli are lovely and they're not something I'd normally look at but species forms of anything are usually nicer than the cultivated blowsier forms. Thanks for all the pics!
I'm with you galanthophile. I adore species anything!
On with the show. The greenhouse rooms were all open, so the rest are not bulbs but they give you a flavor for the greenhouse. I'll have to send the orchid folks a link for the next set. These are mostly cymbidiums. I overheard a woman asking her friend why the temperature was so cool for orchids since they are jungle plants. So I chimed in to explain cool and warm orchids, etc. Sometimes I turn into a tour guide before I know it!
Your 6.41 pic is a beautiful bromeliad!
Yes kniphofia they are very fabulous :-) Thanks for the ID!
What a wonderful place!
I think your no ID wonderful cactus is a type of kalanchoe. That mammillaria colony is wonderful.
It snowed overnight here so it's been lovely to come back to your post! Again, thanks so much for sharing your visit.

Booj, Thank you very much for taking the time to post your 'picture show' of Smith's bulb show. The flowers were a welcome sight giving us a 'promise of Spring' is near.
Sue,
Glad that you enjoyed it. I wish the website would have worked instead of this post taking so long. I'll have to see if it works better with a website from my internet provider.
Yes, Lynn. It's very good timing for a spring preview to remind us of the (forgotten) future. I wish I could send the smells. Those bulbs are so fresh-wakes you right up!
excellent photos, thanks for the reminder....I'lll hop over this weekend and check it out! Will also be running off to Boston for the flower show, I think.
My favorite room at Smith's bulb show last year was the one with the sweet broom! The smell was heavenly.

What a gorgeous Show, Boojum! Thank you, this is really appreciated.
I too have enjoyed looking at the pics, some beautiful orchids and other things. Thanks for taking the time!
You're welcome wallaby. I'd do anything for my DG friends! I still have a whole other garden (Filoli) to post from late Feb in CA! More to come.
