Smith College Bulb Show

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

This Sunday I made my annual pilgrimage to the Smith Bulb Show in Northampton, Massachusetts (30 minutes from home). It's always way ahead of our outdoor spring so we are very greatful to see and smell spring again after/during a cold winter. I've never linked to a website but here goes. If this doesn't work let me know!

This is a very PRIVATE website. Okay, the heck with it. Here's the unassuming front of the Smith Greenhouse.

Fabulous! What a wonderful show for all of us plant starved northerners!

Love these lemon yellow 'Sailboat.'

Oops forgot to get the name on these tiny daffs. They had lots of clumps of them in the front of masses of bulbs.

Yes wonderful to see them this time of year (cabin fever season). The best thing is that the temperature in the bulb house is cool and the smell is SPRING! So it's virtual for all the senses (although I didn't taste anything-not polite).

Trepolo is the split cup. Looked like egg yolks.

I didn't take many pics of fritillarias but this meleagris snuck in.

Gorgeous, booj. Thanks for spoiling us again.

Those 'Smithies' are quite the flower arrangers, aren't they?!! (-:

They have some beautiful combinations and color contrasts going. And of course, your photography is excellent.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Very pretty - what are those tall spiky things in the middle of the first picture?

Cramlington, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I'm drooling! Love that last pic. Auriculas are a favorite of mine too.

The very small daffodil is N canaliculatus, it's adorable isn't it? I do like the split corona daffs and I can see why Cum Laude won you over.

What a fabulous post!

Steve those 'tall spiky' things are Veltheimia. Aren't they fabulous?

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Gosh. Thanks all. Closest I can get to bringing you with me. I was counting on folks to fill in the blanks, and you did!

Here we go again. Anyone got the name for these (I assume) fritillarias?

I'm pretty sure your fritillary is Fritillaria michailovskyi. You should put that pic in the PF - it's lovely.

Thanks so much for sharing your visit!
