Did I make it in time for coffee? Guess I didn't so will say Sheppard's pie and blackberry cobbler sounds like a winner. Running right along the web.
Have a great evening.
Coffee and...For Tuesday, March 7, 2006 =^..^=
Hi all, I am back. I tried to take a nap this afternoon, the first interruption was Mr. B, he wanted in, then out, to play, then decided he would nap with me. (2) Doorbell, neighbor wanting DH, (3) phone call for DH (4) Miss Boots wanting to cuddle, as Mr. B was outside. All in all, I may have gotten a 15 minute nap.
My trip to the hospital has resulted in sneezing, feel like I am coming down with a cold. Have taken the Airborne, plus took some zicam. Hope I can knock this out before it becomes full blown.
Why is it that they keep hospitals as cold as a meat locker? First thing told to strip and put on their designer gown, was covered with a very thin blanket, I asked for another, and was given a blanket that had been warmed.
Still was chilly. Okay, why complain, it's over, and everything is fine, so won't have to do this for 5 more years.
I got the nicest surprise this afternoon. On the Fragrant Gardening Forum, had signed up to be in a Round Robin. Had never done this before, well the envelope came, so I have spent considerable time this afternoon going through it and selecting some things, and put my seeds in. It is ready to go back in the mail tomorrow. 101, it is going to Nashville, then will be on to you, so get your seeds ready.
I can attest that McCool makes the nicest candles. I have one that I just received last week, and it smells wonderful. Also got a pair of earrings, and have gotten many compliments on them. I plan to do some Christmas shopping with her, plus DGD's birthday is coming up, and I made the mistake of showing her Mccool,s website, she has requested 2 candles, well, more stuff than that, but the candles from McCool. I figure that McCool's sales will be way up, after we do some advertising for her!!
Well, got to be off to the kitchen to get something cooked to eat. Rats 101, DH is gonna eat a steak and leave you home, bet he brings something home for you!!
Well, I will be back later.
dr good luck on the phone call.
Babs, can't wait to hear that story.
susieq's DS, GET WELL.
~~
Anyway, here's DH and Willie snuggling on the couch. DH had just finished packing for his trip and had showered before having to dress and head for the airport. Can you tell that poor little Willie isn't wanting him to go? Oy, there are times when I wish I could put him into DH's seabag and send him along. When DH gets back tomorrow, he'll greet him like he's been gone a year, then he'll turn his back and ignore him to punish him for leaving again. You'd think Willie would get used to this coming and going, but in his 5+ years of life, he just hasn't quite gotten the knack of being a Navy pooch. LOL
I ordered candles from McCool for Christmas gifts for friends. Never even heard they received them, and one is a DG member.
I'm on my new computer!! Can ya tell??? Do I look better?? Am I faster?
My wonderful brother came out and spend 3 hrs with me walking me thru things and installing others. He is such a gem....
The only problem I am having is the keyboard -it is very different than the old macs. But I'll get used to it.
Defoe- glad the hose thing went smoothly. I remember being awake and hollaring...and the nurse telling me to be quiet. Glad they didn't find anymore polyps etc.
Mc C makes candles??? Oh I love candles...I'll have to check it out! During the holidays I burn one every night.
Thanks Darius, I'll be looking for those white sweet potatoes. I never visit farmers mkts as we grow so much produce ourselves, but maybe this summer I will.
Nothing ready for dinner and DH doesn't seem interested in making anything. I think he is po'd at me for spending so much time on the computer...better go and see what I can roundup..
Oh Darius ... can't imagine! Maybe they got lost in the mail?
Hi Sarv~~~ Ooooh, you *do* look better. LOL And oh my goodness ... are you *ever* fast!! LOL LOL So glad you're having fun. I remember how exciting it is to have a new puter.
Defoe, sorry you didn't get your nap out today. Bet you'll sleep wonderful tonight. :)
Babs, know what you mean about your pooch. My DH spoils mine something horrible. She knows the sound of his truck and starts her "Daddy" bark. I always know when it's him coming. :)
Well, I've been busy cleaning up today and am still going. Will check back in a bit.

Hi All,
Had a Dr. appointment yesterday so that took care of most of the day. After I got home, I was freezing,,,so I put on a flannel shirt and a sweatshirt over that and then sat on the couch with my slippies on and an afghan around me. Bill came home after work, looked at me and made an x sign with his two index fingers,,,LOL Snot,,,he said you Didn't go to the Dr. like That? Told him, "No,,,I changed when I got home,,,I'm freezing" he said didn't you even do your hair or the rest of your makeup? NO I DIDN'T,,he pretty much left me alone after that,,LOL,,,smart man!,,so I spent the rest of the night on the couch freezing,,,LOL
Dr. appt. went fine,,,,really fast. I guess shrinks are busy,,,,LOL Added Wellbutrine to my meds that I already take,,,he told me they can make some people irritable,,,if they do that stop taking them. Forgot to ask him how I would know if it's the meds or not, cause I'm already irritable.
Then God gave me a present today,,,I have Tulips coming up in a bed right next to the house on the South side. Yeeehaaa, spring is a comin'
Have to admit that I really haven't had a chance to even skim the posts that much from yesterday and today. Will try to after dinner. Right now, I better come up with something for dinner and fast,,,it's already 7:00. We're getting a little freezing rain here,,,,at least we were,,not sure what it's doing out there now.
TTFN,
Kelly
Yay Kelly! Tulips poking up sound good. Spring is only 2 weeks away. Not that we'll see anything like that for another month, but.....
Maybe there's hope. It does get depressing on those Hosta threads to hear everyone talking about the plants that are already coming up.
Just finished teaching the last of 5 students for today. Won't spend much more time on line. there is a small part-time orchestra in this city. Until now it's been a summer operation, but they are doing a March concert in collaboration with the Hungarian Embassy. We are doing a Bartok Divertimento, but the parts have been copied from the score and pasted onto long sheets. Not very readable. Am trying to enter it into my notation program and make legible copies of the viola parts - at least for a couple of movements - before the first rehearsal tomorrow. would have done it earlier, but they finally just got the music to me today.
Sarv, you beat me getting Internet onto the new computer. I'm still trying to transfer my antivirus protection over to the new one. Finally started to do that today.
I may not get back until tomorrow. If I don't have a good evening everyone.
Ann

man, I tried to do chat with this new computer but I just couldn't keep up. May have to go back to using the old one! I'm sitting in my chair typing and watching tv- this could be a bad combo. I may just grow roots sitting here!!
Ahh tulips....several more weeks before we see them here...weather man said shovelable snow again for next week...pout....
gotta bamboose - I'm beat...
Well, I am checking in again. Had a very good supper, and read awhile. Since I was here last, have been chilling, and my nose feels as if it is on fire. Sure hope that the winter cold is not catching up with me now.
I plan a walk around the garden tomorrow, and I need to get my tomato seeds started. So I will be busy tomorrow playing in the dirt. I noticed yesterday, that I have tulips, crocus, iris, hostas, day lilies, and naked ladies that are through the ground. So spring couldn't be very far away. And in the room where I am over wintering plants, I have green sprouts on clematis, and butterfly bush, plus, just for the heck of it, I brought in 2 gerbera daiseys last year, and they are showing green!! Yeah, I did something for the first time. Okay, now a question. I dug my geraniums and have them hanging in a cool dry place, is it time to pot them up, and can anyone tell me what to do. I have never done this. And cannas, what do I do with them?
Okay, since I have picked your brain, I think that I will be off to bed, hopefully to wake to NO COLD!!
Night everybody.
Hi folks,
This just hasn't been my day. I fought with the computer for most of the work day, trying to get a program installed on a new site --- no good. I'll just have to wait until the on-line classes I've been taking get around to this point again and scream for help. I started out the day depressed for no particular reason (except that I'm me) and this didn't help a bit.
Dmcd, no, of course I didn't find the missing seeds! I may find them four years from now. Oh well. I planted a whole bunch of peas --- they're a couple of years old, so I won't know for a couple of weeks whether or not they'll germinate. I hope to get some of the cooler weather crops planted tomorrow. I have a cold frame and a little greenhouse, which is a very good thing because we get hardly any sunlight in the house because of the way it was oriented and built. I can't even manage to keep any low light houseplants alive without grow lights.
Dr, so sorry for the bad news. I've got my fingers crossed --- hoping that the final diagnosis won't be as bad as you fear. At least he's not in a lot of pain. Please let us know what happens. Even if we can't do anything about it, we're all still here for you.
101 and D'cat, thanks for the compliments and I'm really glad that you liked the small surprises. D'cat, very glad to hear that you came through that test with flying colors! I'm sure you're glad that it's over.
I just wanted to ask, here and now, that anyone who ever orders anything from me would please let me know right away if there's any sort of problem. I can't fix it if I don't know that there's a problem in the first place!
M5, another kitten?! Good for you. I'm envious, of course. I'm not sure what would happen if we introduced another one here. Kitty WWII probably. The two girls are still not thrilled about our big fluffy boy. (All gender terms somewhat fuzzy, as all three have been neutered).
I had no idea that Oregon was so far ahead of us here on the "other" coast. Guess I should have known. We have mostly dead brown looking landscape at the moment. One clump of daffodils tried to come up and I covered it with some evergreen boughs to try to save it from the alternate freezing and thawing. Quite a few clumps of Summer Snowflakes have come up in my tiny flower garden in front of my store and have had their little heads frozen off. No flowers from them again this year, I guess.
Sarv, good luck with the new computer. I do hope that you enjoy it. I only tried chat once and found that there was no way I could keep up. It never occurred to me that it could have anything to do with the computer. (In my case, it probably didn't. It's more a matter of me taking too long to think about my "snappy comeback". Longer than jet-lag in most cases.)
GG, hope you've warmed up by now and that you're feeling a lot better.
Babs, would you care to share your Shepherds' Pie recipe? What we call Shepherds' Pie is more of an English Cottage Pie with hamburger, corn, and mashed potato. I've made a version of it with leftover lamb, gravy, peas, and mashed potato, but I was just "winging it" and never knew what the authentic article was like.
Maria, hope you're all over your stomach upset. I don't know how you managed that baking while feeling ill either. Usually the smell of food is just too much for me if I'm feeling queasy. We have some of those extra ripe (ie., black) bananas in the freezer, but I just haven't gotten around to baking a banana bread, even though we all like it. Thanks for a slice of yours ---- it's even better since it won't help put on those extra pounds that none of us needs. Please give Samson an extra hug for me. I'm glad to know that he's looking out for his "Mom".
Woodspirit, I never knew that blackberries were such a "wonder drug". It figures that I'd learn it now, since I've been hacking back the blackberry brambles and encouraging the black raspberries instead because they taste better to me. NOW I find out that I should have been nurturing the blackberries as well.
Suzieq, glad that your son seems to have come through the surgery with not problems.
Hi to Mary, Oz, Janis, darius, lauri, Viann, makshi, pati, Susan (9 kitty), and anyone else I may have left out accidentally. Time for me to go bury myself in a book and escape from real life for a while. Goodnight and sleep tight.
Okay, I've skipped a few posts in order to clear up a misunderstanding. I ordered some wonderful candles from McCool for Christmas gifts. I'm SURE that they must have arrived so my being peeved is with the recipients, NOT McCool!!
Dana Reeve was not a smoker. In a program after the announcement of her death this morning, it was reported that non-smoking women get lung cancer 5 times for often than non-smoking men. That needs some research.
Just did a quick read, but won't respond much til morning, DH is snoring already, and I'm ready to hit the hay, too. Does anybody still say that? LOL
I think adding a new kitten (keeping my fingers crossed) will divert Sammi's attention and give the girls a break. DH is as much a culprit as I am, he's the one who brought Souky to my attention...and he does love them. He must, to be willing to be Head Scooper.
See you in the morning with more attentiont to what's been happening, too tired to do it tonight.
Sheila
Woodspirit, one of the worst offenders for lung cancer is not smoking, but Radon. Turns out my apartment in NC from Oct. 2004 to Dec. 2005 had 4X the safe Radon rates.
Well today was another leafing good day. LOL
We are probably 1/4 way through in the front. Took some pictures of work in progress and guess what??? the camera is down in the family room again. oh well...
My Indy kitty is sick, the vet thinks he is constipated but he is making a mess everywhere trying to go and not doing anything but an icky mess. I follow him around with the paper towels, and the shampooer. Ewwwww
Tonight he has had three droppers full of Liquilax and is bedded down hopefully happily in the bathroom. He is the kitty that always sleeps right at my head and I can lay my arm around him. Well, I could when I could raise that arm. LOL
I probably won't sleep without my guy there. I hope he is 'better' in the morning or he will have to go to the vet and have the problem helped along. Ewwww again.
Indy is 12 1/2 and is the kitty that found my breast cancer in 1994. If it wasn't for Indy I probably wouldn't be here now. I actually hadn't thought about how old he is until the vet asked and I said he was born in 1993. He said 'oh he's an OLD kitty' ,,, My baby Indiana, an OLD kitty???
Well, I am going to try to go to bed, always something....
Will do the daily and be back to give you the link.
Susan
