Hey I'm second and I got to sleep last night!!LOLOL

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Okay got my coffee - hi everybody!!
It sunny again - will wonders never cease. It's the angle of the sun that just says spring, beaming in the windows and warm! I really think I am solar powered

defoecat~ I hope things go well for you today

Mary~your ride sounds bone chilling, you are dedicated!

McCool~Hi! How's the seed starting? I did the same thing, put my seeds somewhere safe, AND telling myself, I will surely remember THIS place, but no go....I am so aggravated with myself. Normally I just leave them out and get aggravated with myself for not putting them away! I hope you found them in time to get some sleep!

I like jiffy pots. But I'll use anything.

9kitty~Sounds like a busy pet night at your house! Yay on the leaves getting raked by DH!

I'm busy sneezing - no allergy meds since I'm going for testing. It makes me aware how much relief I've been getting from them!!

Hope everyone else checks in healthy and happy and snow-free, with good doctor reports and lots of healthy seedlings!!!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

woke up at 5 a.m. with an upset stomach. I keep a stash of frozen blackberries for just such an occaision so I am eating them now.
I SO want to go back to bed but our secretary is out and I have to sub for her.
I planted some stock seed last night and put it in the greenhouse. I am off work tomorrow so maybe I can do more out there. It's so exciting to have a greenhouse, even a tiny one.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone - I'm here, but don't look crosseyed at me as I'll probably punch you!! LOL Just can't figure the new puter out and when I called DS to come help, he 'just didn't want to' - and after all we do for them....grrr My brother, bless his soul, is coming out after work today (but now ya know I will have to house sit for them...another grr) I went and crawled in bed and felt sorry for myself.

Mary, all that weather would make me hole up inside - brrr makes me chilly just reading about it.

9kit- wow - all the animal trials and tribulations....times like that I am glad I only have one kitty. Did you say pizza meatballs? Is that a recipe that you can share?

defoe - good luck on the 'hose up the arse' thing - been there done that...not bad, once it is over!! Regarding MIL, she is such a downer and I didn't need to hear all her complaining, whining, --, I am in enough of a funk myself. Plus she always tells how there is no work at the 'shop' and they will need to lay off DH. Like I WANT to hear that!!

I'm off to the huff/puff like usual, then on to the bank to sign some papers - did I tell ya that our local bank would match another bank on a CD! Well, not excactly match, but within a tenth of a percent and that saves me a lot of running around - so I took it. They are a local bank and I would rather deal with them than switch.

Two more amaryllis opened, sun is out, and I need to check and see if anymore seeds popped overnight ! Take care all!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

wood and Maria - oh no.....sounds like our germs may be traveling in cyberspace. Take care both of you...I've never heard of blueberries for a sick stomach!

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

BLACKBERRIES, not blueberries. Yes, they will stop diarhea faster than any medication I have used since paragoric got banned. Blackberry juice works too, even Blackberry Brandy.

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Since there are so many upset stomachs going around, I just have to comment. My grandmother always "put up" Blackberry wine to use for stomach upsets. No other uses, she was a tee-totleler. After my mother came to live with me, I kept Manachevitz Blackberry wine for the same reason. It really seemed to work.

Everybody with "grumpies" think positive....Spring is almost here!!!
Pati

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Where do we get a recipe for Blackberry Wine? That would be a neat idea.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Never heard of that cure either, sounds like a tasty one whether it helps or not

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good morning!

DS's surgery went very well. We had to be at the hosp at 2:00 and they didn't start surgery until 5:15. grrr. All that waiting with a surly teen was not fun. He got to his room about 8:30 and after he had some jello and toast they let me go get him some real food. he was a much more pleasant young man after that. LOL.

It's a really nice day here today. Supposed to be 46, sunny and clear.

Ann - Glad to hear your DH is home and doing well.

Carol - Hope all is going well with your DF

Maria - Isn't it funny how animals sense when we aren ot well. Hope you fell better really soon.

Sarv - good luck with the new computer.

My turn for the shower now and then off to the hosp. DH is taking stepdaughter to another court appointment today. It's actually right down the street from the hosp. Hope they release DS early so I can come home and plant some more seeds.

I know I missed commenting on alot of stuff, sorry, I'm short on time. Waving ~~~~~to everyone and have a wonderful day.

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Blackberry wine sounds good even if you're not sick LOL

Well, didn't sleep for crap again last night :( I think I'm gonna have to start taking my sleeping pills again.

I hope ya'll didn't catch the cyber "flu" from me. I am still about half queasy, but that might be from lack of sleep.

Its super cold here today, only 22 degrees. I know it has been colder, but brrrrrrrrr C'mon Spring. I am so tired of cold and being cooped up and runny noses, and sniffles, and and and....

boy I hope everyone has a good day, will try to be back later on. Got to get the girls to school, and some more laundry done... and hopefully folded. I got a huge pile in the LR that is clean. Sigh. Where did my house work fairies go? I know one of you guys ame and took them. Give 'em back, its not fair LOL

Hugs to all

I don't remember when I heard about the blackberries, but I tried them and it worked so quickly that I have kept a frozen bag of them ever sense. Interestingly, they don't constipate you either, if you eat a blackberry pie or cobbler at other times.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

I meant to help yourself to the banana bread I made yesterday morning, here it is with some cream cheese

Thumbnail by Maria
south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh yum Maria, you can always be depended on to supply us with delicious looking goodies. I'm helping myself to a big piece....I put cream cheese on triscuit, topped with an olive - that was yesterdays treat!!

Oh BLackberries - not blueberries. That will teach me for reading so fast...

Well, I've been playing with the new computer. I can tell you right now that the housework is gonna suffer...I've been playing solitaire. Can't seem to figure out freecell....I know I can do it....

Just heard on the news that Dana Reeves died of lung cancer. Man, that was unexpected....and so young. Makes you wanna kick the funky feeling....

I did put some of my plants in the sun today - it will fade my furniture - but what's a gal to do???

9kit- glad the surgery went well an DS tank is full of food - males and their bellies....

Time for the huff/puff

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Susan---- you are about the only Okie I ever knew that has not seen a tornado. In a real heavy driving thunderstorm you usually do not see them if they are not big. I have seen them and i was in Norman Oklahoma City area 4 days after that thing blew thru there a few years back. Have had 4 small ones on the lake in the 12 years I have been here. I looked right at one about 1/2 mile away and could not see it pass due to the driving rain.
anytime the trees are twisted off and thing are falling in your yard from far off it had been close. I been through 2 hurricanes at sea also. I would rather take my chances with one of those than a tornado.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Heck with house work, Sarv, computer is more important to learn about, house work is the same old stuff that does not run away. So just sit and enjoy

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Oh, yum, Maria, thank you. Imagine baking when you are sick. You;re a better woman than I. Maybe your upset tummy came from the meds you are taking for your cold? I hope you feel much better today. Isn't Samson a sweetie, worrying about you? He's a good boy.

I'm already showered and dressed, and a load in the washer, after yesterdays sloth, I thought I should shape up a little today. When Dcat and I were on the phone, neither of us had gotten dressed!! It was so nice to chat with her, and Elaine. Taking advantage of my free long distance. I do occasionallly hear some odd beeps and toots over the line though, and wonder if the person I'm talking to hears them too. But free can't be beat. Sending my leftover minutes on the phone card I got at Sam's to my high school best friend, lliving up in Gordon, WI because she's living on a minimal income. Her DD lives in Canada so this will help her out.

Mini finally stood up to Sammi this morning and made him run! It was so funny. He must have gotten on her last nerve! LOL Souky doesn't take any sass from him, but Mini has been pretty passive and usually lets him jump all over her. Not today!

I have to tell you what I did yesterday. A friend of mine had contacted a rescue site here in Wisconsin and adopted a five year old siamese who is very slowly adapting to his new home. I checked the site yesterday out of curiousity, and they had a note that they had a 6 month old female seal point coming in soon. So who filled out an application and sent it in. Uh huh. Moi. LOL I'm thinking it would be good for Sammi to have a cat near his age to play with, and give the poor girls some peace. Don't know if I will get this little girl, but the wheels are turning. Told DH when he came home, and he just laughed. Then he took me out to eat at a cafe down the road. He is just a pushover.

Sarv, you need to have the Norton or some other junk virus filter on your computer. The first thing that happens when you get a new one is a ton of crap emailed to you. I don't know how they do it but it kind of comes with the territory. If you use Yahoo or AOL they have some virus protection built in, but nothing is absolute. And, consider that your brother helping you out does not necessarily mean you have to teen sit, consider it a repayment for last year's fun and games. It will be a quick and easy task for him to get you set up, unlike a week of child supervision.

I hope everyone is feeling much much better. So far I've escaped DH's cold, but I've been sneezing all morning. Probably because I haven't dusted all week!

Suzie, I'm sure your DS is much cheerier now that he's had food! I don't understand why they had him fast so long when the surgery was so late. I'd have been cranky too. Kids heal fast so it won't be long before he's out there trying to break something else! I can't believe my kids survived their childhood without any broken bones, they were always up in trees, or racing around with no regard for safety.

Dcat, after my colonoscopy they warned me not to eat greasy or rich food, so when DD brought me home we had Gnocchi with meat sauce!! LOL It wasn't greasy.......sure tasted good though after nothing but clear liquids and rotorooter.

Sun's out and it's warming up. I may need to wash my windows! Didn't notice how yucky they were during all those long gray Jan and Feb days but now I see little nose prints and haze, so I need to get off here and get out the Perfect Glass spritzer and do some clean up.

Remember how little Sammi was when we got him?

This was January 12 or so.

And here he is today!! He's more than doubled his weight.

Sarv, free cell is easy once you get the hang of it. I like it better than solitaire because you have those open cells on the top where you can move cards and open up a space below to add the ones you want. When a card you need is buried under others, you can move them out of the way, just don't fill up all the free cells or you are cooked. Once you get rolling on the new 'puter, you can play it on Pogo which is even more fun because you get to remove more cards. If you can do Soduku which makes me insane, you won't have a problem with free cell. Try spider solitaire on pogo too, it's more fun.

~~~~ to everyone, gonna be industrious for a change , see y'all later.
What a GREAT picture!!! I looked at the pictures on top of your book case (just nosey) thinking I would see some more of your people family......and they are kitty family pictures!!! LOL
After I got through laughing I realized my pictures are about the same....one people to four furbaby pictures.
Pati
waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
Oh, SO not fair, there are 14 people pictures and only 5 kitty...You couldn't see the other bookcase! Good thing you can't see the rest of the house, there's one or two cat pictures on every wall!! LOL
Morning all.
Didn't get to post last nite about my father.
Ended up going to a gardening meeting and didn't get home until late.
They had lots of plants from the speaker for sale and I was a good girl. Didn't buy a thing tho very tempting! The prices were outrageous! For a quart size pot, all were $10 and up. The hellebores were gorgeous but they wanted $20. No way. Don't have that kind of money.
They say new colors are coming out in hellebores. Like one was a orange with red center. Very pretty. Then another one was white with bicolor red tips and it was a double one too. I didn't know they had double blooms so it was so pretty. Wanted but couldn't buy it!
So the update on my dad. Not good news at all. His PSA has soared since July 2005 up to 679. Today he is getting a CT scan of the whole body to see where the cancer has spread to. Apparently the doc. couldn't feel anything in the prostate so figures it is spreading elsewhere. Didn't get much answers for all his nasty symptoms, like weakness, tiredness, not eating due to naseuous and horrible taste in his mouth. Doctor says the cancer cells could be doing all this.
Aren't doing a bone scan since he doesn't have any pain, which I am very thankful for. I hear bone cancer is so so painful to go thru and he doesn't need that.
So we shall know more tomorrow from the CT results.
If you could all have known him, he was such an energetic and smart man. It is so hard to see him feel so lousy and be so sick in such a short time period.
He has always been there for me. So I want to be there for him.
So as he says, he may be at the end of his road.
So life is difficult right now.
Keep good thoughts and prayers for him, for at least he won't suffer too much.
Dcat, hope your testing goes well today and you can pork out later tonight on good healthy food, hehe. I have been to Cracker Barrel in Arizona once and I just loved the food!
Maria, love that bread and thanks for sharing.
Sarv, Maria is right. Forget the housecleaning for a bit. Enjoy playing with your computer. The more you do with it, the better you will get at it.
Mary, congrat. on you making the horse team. Sounds like a good team to be on and with.
Sheila, a new kittie? Oh how fun for you and Sammi then. Go for it!
Susq, hope son gets to finally get to eat real food. Teenagers need their food to survive on, even if it is junk food.
Hope all get well from all the colds and flu. Think SPRING!
Posted here is a picture of my front yard last weekend. My bulbs are coming along. So wanted to show a picture of my upcoming spring here in Oregon. Enjoy!
Carol, I am so sorry for you and your family, this is so very hard to have a loved one ill almost beyond measure
Albany, OR(Zone 8a)
Thanks Maria, yes, that is the hardest part. You feel so helpless..... that there isn't really anything that can be done..... except to try to ease the pain.....
Well there's not much morning left ... but morning everyone! Goodness ... where to start!!!
Carol~ = I'm so sorry the news about your Dad seems to be so grim. Maybe the CT scan will surprise *everyone* and the results will come back better than expected. Both of you will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.
Suzie~ = I'm so glad to hear your DS got all fixed up. Now *why* in the world do they make you wait like that? It's always been like that for me. Everytime I've ever had any surgery ... I've had to play the "hurry up and wait" game. Hope he's mended and back to himself real soon. Have still been keeping that other situation in mind, also. Hope things will *finally* be resolved.
Hi Meezers~. Soooo you did it? :) Yep, that's just wonderful!! I wish I could be a fly on the wall when you bring home *another* kitty and see the look on Souky's? face!!! Can you imagine that? hehehe That will be *priceless!!
Maria~ = ooooh, so sorry to hear that now you're having nasty tummy problems. I could just give that Samson a great big hug for being such a good boy, though. And baking? How in the world do you do that when you don't feel good? Well, I'm certainly going to snitch a piece. Banana bread is one of my favs!!
Hmm, blackberry wine? Never heard that before!
Hi Defoe~~~ Am thinking about you, girl!!
Woofens~ sure hope things start to calm down for you and all your aling kids get better so you can start feeling better yourself. Don't know how you manage. When I'm feeling bad ... I just want to be left *alone* That's why God chose some of us to be Mommies and some of us *not* to be Mommies! LOL
Susan~ I'm so so glad your pitiful look worked for you! I've gotta tell you, though ... what *really* worked for me was when my DH pulled up yesterday and saw that mountain of leaves out there in the middle of the front yard. He came in, changed his clothes and got them out to the street. I'm thinking serious about having another mountain for him this evening. If I don't get off my duff and get busy ... I'll *never* get it all done. I'm still sleighing the laundry monster. Got more vacuuming to do and ... ... HELP!!!
... Elaine
Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)
Carol - Will keep you and your family in my prayers. So so sorry to hear your news. Please keep us posted.
DS is home and sleeping. He just had lunch and took a percaset (sp). I'm heading in to work for the afternoon. DH will be home soon to look after him.
Maria - That banana bread looks yummi.
Almost fogot, gotta go call the Dr.'s office and set up a follow-up appt. for next week. See ya later!
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)
Good morning.
Carol(DR) I feel so bad for your dad, and your mom and you too. A serious illness is always a family affair. I'll be praying. I enjoyed the picture, it's so good to see stuff growing and blooming. I've got daffys and tulips coming up but yours are about 2 or 3x as big.
Oh, Meezer, another kitten. I agree, Sammi needs a willing playmate! Kittens grow amazingly fast, Sammi and AmandaPanda both are on about the same fastrack, she weighed 3# when we got her a week before Christmas, last week she weighed over 7#. Here is something that might interest you, I was reading about a local lady who raises kitties to sell, they are a breed she has developed from Siamese and Ragdoll, she calls it Raganese. They look like Siamese but when you pick them up they immediately become docile. If you want to know more try the web or I can mail you this article. The Ragdolls are the ultimate lapcat.
Wonderful looking banana bread, Maria. I love it with cream cheese, or warmed up just enough to melt butter (real butter, none of that margarine for me). I would say Samson is a real sweetie, being all concerned about his sick "momma". I hope you are feeling better soon. Golly, nothing like getting one bug on top of another, too bad they couldn't find another place to do battle.
I have heard of blackberries or blackberry juice as a remedy for upset stomach. LOL at the blackberry wine, I was thinking that if a person drank too much of that medicine they wouldn't care what was wrong.
My back aches today, not really any pains, just achey. I think it was from getting so wet and cold yesterday when I was riding. Later in the evening we heard it hailing when we were having dinner, and it was dark out and I was busy so didn't look again. Then Paul (ranch owner) called to tell me that we had a miniblizzard, he had put the 24 remaining expectant ewes in the barn, and wanted me to check them one time instead of twice. I looked out and everything was covered with snow, pasted on to the sides of the buildings, the fence posts, woodpile, everything just plastered. Wow! that happened fast and I was glad I didn't get caught in something like that when I was riding. (I have done that before and just let the horse bring me home because I couldn't see anything.) So, I was on a different schedule, but I woke up at the usual time and tried to tell my brain that it had changed but didn't sleep much. Then I had trouble getting back to sleep after I did get up to check them. And when I went outside everything had frozen solid, I could see to drive the 1/2 mile down the road because I opened the window and stuck my head out. There is never anyone else on the road at that hour, country road with only a few farms past us.
Oh boy, I just looked out and it is snowing again. I have to go to town and will have to unhitch my 4wd truck from the trailer to make the trip. The whole week is supposed to be stormy and cold. I expect the sheep to be in the barn every night.
Suzieq, I'm glad the teenager finally got to eat something a while after his surgery. You do understand that when you get him home that he will be more helpless than usual? but don't let him get away with too much of that, he has to learn to cope.
I need to get going, see you later. ~~~
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Hi Everyone,
My you are chatty today. when I first peeked in there were 16 messages already and now 26 unless someone beats me to posting.
Went to the later aquafit class. The pool is tightening up on making people shower before entering it. It's an L-shaped pool with a removable bulk-head and when not being used for lap swims, swimming lessons, and aquafit, it's a wave pool in one direction. There was an incident Saturday when lots of people were there where perfumes reacted with the chlorine in the water and 4 life-guards ented up going to Emerg - two by ambulance and two were driven. I guess perfumes and perfumed body lotions, deodorants, etc, sit right at water level and do react with the pool chemicals. But have you ever noticed how difficult it is to obtain non-perfumed lotions, etc?
DH is still doing well. We go back to the surgeon's office to get his staples out tomorrow. I also heard the news about Dana Reeves while going to aquafit. Too young. Did she smoke? If not, it's doubly scary. BTW, I agree with Maria. The housework can wait. Especially if you get to Huff & Puff. LOL
M5, that must have been a hoot when Mini stood up to Sammi. Wish I could have seen it. Hope you get the new kitten if your DH is agreeable. I'd still like another cat.
Sarv - you DO need antivirus protection. I've used EZ Antivirus from Computer Associates for a few years. It is (or was) cheaper than Norton, has an almost daily update of antivirus signatures, and according to the people I got my last computer from, wouldn't screw up my system the way Norton would. The literally said "Use Norton at your own risk!" Dunno whether they are right or not, because this computer has obviously had its faults over the years, but EZ...works. I also have additional protection from my ISP for a nominal fee.
http://store.digitalriver.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayPage&Locale=en_US&id=ProductDetailsPage&SiteID=caconsum&productID=35180700&Env=BASE
As far as spam, my ISP operates two spam filters which catch a lot of it. And I'm pretty good with the delete button if anything gets by. Just develop a habit of NEVER opening attachments unless you know exactly what they are.
And Sarv, I like Free cell which has been around for awhile. I keep track of the ones I can't solve and periodically go back. Am up to 17,053 now. and on the new computer, I like Spider Solitaire. I don't think the games are numbered there, just random, but you can save a game or restart a game. I'm still on the middle level of difficulty on that.
M5 - glad the colonoscopy is over and hope that it doesn't show up anything.
Carol, sorry the news on your father is not good. Let us know the results of the scan. Will keep you all in my prayers.
Well, having assured Sarv that's it's OK to ignore housework, it's actually time that I got lunch and then did some.
Have a good day.
Ann
Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)
GM hugs to all!
Carol: I'm so sorry to read the news about your father. Please know I send my thoughts and prayers to you and your family. This is a very trying time waiting for the complete diagnosis and treatment plan. You have my every sympathy and I know we all send you every ounce of strength you'll need to face these issues. This will be a difficult road to travel, no matter what the outcome is eventually. Just know we will all be here for you and will do what we can to support you. ((((hugs)))) many times from each of us.
Maria: I'm glad to hear you are vertical once again! And you're right, playing with and learning a new computer is MUCH more important than housework any day. The housework is always there, always waiting to be done so why not take advantage of the time better spent in an educational way by getting better acquainted with ones computer?!? LOL
Dcat: Here's raising my cuppa tea to your exam and negative results. Woohoo! Bottom's up, luvie! Sorry, nurses humour.
M5: I just love that picture of you and Sammi. What a wonderful photo of the two of you. you're a GOB with the accent on the G!!!! What an elegant looking woman you are, and dear, red is your colour!
Sue-Z-Q: I'm so glad your DS's surgery went well. And I'm more grateful you got to feed the walking hormone. I'm sure this is one time when the adage, "Music to soothe the savage breast" is better stated as, "Food to soothe the savage beast!". I feel sorry for any parent of a teenage male who has to withhold food from them, it's just inviting trouble.
I hope all are well or on the mend. I'm going to get some chores done around this place today. The winds have died down for the time being and I have lots of downfall to gather up in the yards and get ready for the burn pile. DH should be sleeping right now in preparation for his return to CONUS. I'm sure he'll be up in about 3 hours and call before he leaves for the bullet train and onto the airport in Tokyo.
And since tomorrow is Wednesday, it's my evening to bring supper to Mum's. I'm making a Shepard's Pie (the real thing with ground lamb and rosemary). Mum so loves a good Shepard's Pie. And since there has been talk about blackberries today, I'll take some blackberries out of the freezer and make a cobbler for dessert tomorrow. That's pretty easy and Mum adores her fruit desserts so.
I bid adieu to all and I'll check back later to see how things are going.
With care, ~Babs~
I feel an addiction coming on....I sat and played free cell for 2 1/2 hrs.!! I figured it out....now I have a crick in my neck....
Ok, question here. This afternoon I am going to hookup the old dialup to the new computer and download my email stuff. Then, how do I get free anti virus stuff? Where to do go to get it? (I'm still ignorant folks....) I am major worried about this aspect of the new computer because with the old mac, I never had any protection -no body wanted to bother macs I guess.
DR- so sorry to hear the news about DD. Just keep him pain free. I continue to worry about dying (isn't that silly) I continue to worry about things that I have no control over...wish I could get over that!
I called my 82 yr old mom to sing happy BD to her. We laughed as I have a terrible voice. I told her I stopped at McD and got a huge pop and two cherry pies in her honor....we both love food!! (and I ate them both and feel yucky....) She talked and talked and sounded so good. She's a treasure...can't wait for her to get home so I can beat the pants off her in scrabble.
Vi- I've never heard about lotions interacting with the pool chemicals...that's a new one. I thought you had to shower to wash off any ickies (dirt...) I hate to preshower - freeze....
I did go to huff/puff and did a good workout - even used the new 'ab lounger' - don't like it, I feel like I am on a roller coaster....
My bro is coming at 3 and I need to clean up this house a bit - they live in a Mc Mansion and my cracker box always looks so cluttered...
M5 - WHAT - another kitty!!!! I cannot imagine cleaning up the hair from all of them. (I just cleaned up a major hair ball throwup....ugh) That was after I stepped in it coming down the stairs....
Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)
Well folks,I am home from the hospital. Gave me enough stuff, so that I was asleep, before going to the operating room. The Dr told DH that everything is fine. He expected to find more polyps, but nary a one. So it will be 5 years before I have to do this again.
DR, sorry about your DF, hope that the scan will reveal nothing. Keeping you in my prayers.
Susieq, glad DS came through his surgery okay. Make sure your pantry is stocked, I have a feeling he will clean it out quickly.
Mary, yuk about the weather. It can't be much longer till spring.
Sarv, I play free cell too. The only computer game I play. Stick with the computer, you will have if figured out in no time.
Meezer, I had a feeling that the kitty you mentioned yesterday would have your last name attached to it!! Good for Mini, wish I could have seen that.
Maria, the banana bread looks good. I have taken a piece, but am saving it for later.
101, Was DH appreciative that you had the pile of leaves in the front yard? Or did he just grudgingly remove them? Ought to be happy to have a helper. Slow down, though, so you will have something to do later on.
Vaa, Never heard about perfumes or lotions interacting with pool chemicals. I just thought the pre shower was for sanitary reasons.
Oz, tornados like the Ohio valley too. Have never been in one, but have had them so close the house shook. Pretty scary things.
Babs, never had Shepherds pie, but it does sound good. Give mum a hug from us,please.
Hi woodspirit, Briar rose, dmc and any others I didn't address ~~ I'm waving.
Still a little drowsy from the meds, so I think my activity for early afternoon will be a nap. Will be back later. BTW, did go to Cracker Barrel and had breakfast, so I am full, warm and sleepy, just like a kid or a cat.
Hi Defoe!!! Am waving ~~~ Sooo glad it's over and *behind* you. LOL Now go take a much deserved nap. Hugs!!
I'm waving to everyone else, also ~~~ Must get back at it. LOL Had to stop for a bite to eat.
Well, I'm ticked! The DH has a business meeting tonight ... I forgot completely about it. He gets to go to a *nice* steak house!! :-( That's okay. I'll get even. LOL
I had the nicest surprise today *anyway* Ooooh, I've just got to tell y'all about this. I ordered a couple of candles from McCool as gifts, and the package came today. Tucked inside was the nicest surprise for me you've *ever* seen. She made me one of the jell scented jars. Now let me tell you ... this is the *best* air freshener you could *ever* want!!! I mean ... I have it sitting right here on my desk, but it has the entire house smelling like a wonderful southern gardenia as that's the fragrance of the candles I ordered. Oh my goodness does it *ever* smell like heaven! And wouldn't you just know ... nothing for me to have to light. Now that's the most *perfect* gift. I'm just lovin it! :)
Defoe, my DH was very grateful that I had raked up the leaves yesterday. He was smiling from ear to ear. I didn't mind at all as he spent his Saturday at the nursery with me, remember? He could have been doing his yard work or, well, most anything on his day off. Instead ... he's such a sweetie to do all the errands plus take me to those *extra* places I want to go. I try to help and do my part, and he helps me and it all comes out in the wash!
Sarv, sounds like you're having a fine time with the new computer. Oh what fun!!
Mary, yuck ... what horrid weather. Do please be careful. It just scares me to death thinking you could have gotten caught out in that stuff when you were riding yesterday. My friends in Montana are always saying ... "If you don't like the weather, just stick around ... it will be different in 5 mins." LOL Sounds like that applys to you, too. :)
Suzie, so how is the DS? is he eating you out of house and home yet? Sure hope the arm isn't paining him tooo much.
Well, it seems like there was more I wanted to comment on, but I'm too lazy to go back up and read ... so know I've read it all and the age thing just set in. LOL Sat down to have that coffee break. Figured I could vacuum tonight while the DH is munching down on his steak ... the dirty rotten! :) LOL
Thanks, Darius. Much appreciate that nice hug.
I01, I will have to check with McCool about that candle then. My neighbor and I just love highly fragrant smelling candles. And it smells up the whole house. How neat!
Sarv, you should already have some kind of anti-virus program on your new computer. Go to the Start button and click Programs. You should see listing of what software is on your computer.
Dcat, no more tests? Great, enjoying eating again, hehe.
Babs, am glad that the weather is better up there. My folks have several doc. appts. the next few days so nice weather is better for driving in. Never had a Shepard pie either but sounds very good with real ingredients.
Mary, storms are coming in one after another over here too. Your whiteouts sound dangerous. Take care. My flowers with color are keeping my spirits up. I just love colorful things.
Am on lunch so am taking a break.
Will call my parents again to see how the CT scan went. I don't like to use the phone and don't do well on it but I am desperate for information!
Thanks for your thoughts and nice comments!
~~~~~~ waving~~~~~~~~ bye for now!

Someone (Sarv?) asked about the white sweet potatoes I cooked. They are common in the South (NOT in groceries, just Farmer's Markets) and relatively uncommon elsewhere in the states.

Carol, if McCool doesn't have what you want ... she'll make it for you. She's a sweetie. Made mine special as I didn't see the fragrance listed and even shipped one to a specified addi for me. She has a wonderful web page. Please let us know what you find out when you talk to your folks. I'm still praying for good results.

McCool~ = Sorry ... don't mean to be talkin like you aren't *even* around! LOL Thanks again!!

Hi Darius and Molly.

Babs, know your Mum's gonna *love* the Sheppard's pie. And blackberry cobbler to boot!! Oh yum. What time you serving? LOL LOL Can't wait to see what sort of tales you'll have to tell us when you get back!

Well, I'm off again! This DSL will *spoil you*!

Sooooo, I'm taking a break from rumbling with the laundry monster. I'm having a cuppa my favourite Yorkshire Gold tea and an egg salad sammie.

I had to laugh while I was boiling the eggs. You know the odour boiled eggs make? Well, Willie, the Boston Terrier who is a Daddy's boy hopped up on the English Commode chair in front of the picture window and started making his usual whining noise when he knows DH is home. I kept telling him DH wasn't coming home yet, not until tomorrow, but he wouldn't get down from his perch. I finally went and grabbed him up in my arms, mooched him on his cheek and told him in his ear, "Daddy isn't here bud, it's just the stink that's reminding you." LOL

Poor DH isn't even here to defend himself. Remind me one day to tell the story of when a past skipper called me at work to tell me he was sending DH home because there was something terribly wrong with a man who could do what he did in a maintenance meeting. It's pretty funny.

The rain has stopped, so I hope I can get out and finish cleaning up the downfall. I wish it would stay sunny for a couple of days so I could mow, but I'm afraid according to the weather lady on Channel 13, we're in for a winter storm coming in the next day or so, maybe even have some snow. Oy vey!

Hugs to all, ~Babs~

I didn't really edit this post. I was going to try to add a photo I forgot to add in the original post of DH & Willie together on the couch. Oh, well, mea culpa. I'll just post it in a moment.
