Meezer, I adore those Sammi pictures. I agree on the Chessie thing. Now I know he can't be a 'devil' kitty. Tooooooo cute!!! LOL

Coffee and...For Thursday, March 2, 2006 =^..^=
Sorry about the sideways picture.
Sammy is too cute. That picture is priceless.
Sarv - The meatloaf pie sounds good. I'm saving that one. (like I need another recipe to file away). If you saw all my cookbooks, you would think I like to cook or something (lol)
Molly - Can't wait to see pics of all your new plants. You place is going to be so lovely.
OK, gotta run.
Hi everyone. Mid afternoon here, windy, not raining or snowing. Tomorrow I will probably kick myself for not riding today.
This morning I got to let my dental hygenist work on me, then made a couple of stops for things I forgot on Tuesday before taking AP kitty to the vet to get a couple more shots and have her spaying stitches removed. She is so funny, when I carry her into the office she gets nervous and her feet start making bread, she purrs and makes little chirpy sounds. The ride to and from plus stops and starts around town were not to her liking, but she has such a small meow that it's ok to listen to. I called my hubby when I was done with everything and he was having lunch so I met him there and had a bowl of clam chowder, it was good but had more herb flavors than clam flavor. My opinion of that is that clam chowder should taste like clams. It just seems obvious.
On my way home I stopped to see what was new at the barn but nobody was there to I had to draw my own conclusions. The weak lamb must have figured out the nursing thing, he is still with his mother but now they are in one of the stancion pens and she has a foster child (lamb) that needed a mother. In a few days we will see if the accepts it, sometimes it works, sometimes not. She is such a loving momma I think it will work.
Oh boy, barfy kids, that's no fun. Keep the buckets and towels handy, plus the air freshener. I hope they are over it quickly. I remember a story about friends who went tent camping and the kids all got barfy during the night. There was no good place to clean them up and no hot water quickly available so the mom was out side where there was a fawcett and trying to wash barf out of her daughter's long hair in the dark by flashlight. She had 3 kids, all girls, all sick, all barfing on the sleeping bags. They went home before morning. Tainted hot dogs did them in. And having too many smores and too much pop before bedtime didn't help the situation.
Robert, are you building a replica of Stonehenge?
Carol (DR) I'm glad to hear that you are safely home. A good thing to have a walk and talk with your son. I hope he can retake the test, is that possible? Life is just so full of challenges and disappointments, it makes or breaks us depending on our responses to it.
Susieq, I hope that your stepdaughter will learn that there are some unpleasant consequences to her actions. Life is not all fun and games. My hubby told our kids "if you ever get arrested, don't call home". He never would have bailed them out and they knew it, they didn't even have to test it.
Maria, I hope you can take care of yourself and not get really sick with this bug. Samson will give you sympathy and hopefully tone down his antics a bit.
Meezer, I was thinking how your cats are dark, medium and light but all the same breed (right?) They do look like they own the bed. Our robins showed up a couple of weeks ago. Some years we still have a lot of snow when they come and I can almost hear Mz Robin telling Mr that she knew it was too early before they left their winter home, but would he listen to her, nooooooooo.
Yesterday evening as I was feeding the horses just as it was getting dusky, I could see one of our great horned owls perched on a limb near the old nest, so maybe they are thinking about using it again. Red tailed hawks built it and the owls took it over about 3 years ago.
Elaine, I was thinking that flowers and weeds probably do feel different, you know, it is something I don't think about except when I am weeding around crocus or onions, they feel slicker than the grass that comes up beside them. Wearing gloves to weed around some things just does not work at all. So my hands get really dirty but that's life and dirt doesn't scare me. Oh, and I remembered that you asked about the spareribs and sauerkraut and I hadn't answered. This works as well with chops or pork steak, all the same flavor, just different shapes. First I salt and brown the meat. Then I mix a jar of kraut with about half as much shredded fresh cabbage and an apple or two chopped finely or grated. Put that in a large baking dish and put the meat on top, add a little water to the frying pan and boil it to get the good flavors out and pour that over the meat. Cover and bake at about 350 for an hour or more. I put chunks of potatoes on top of the meat sometimes. Love those one dish meals, easy to clean up.
Last night was another no lamb night, so I got plenty of sleep, but it sure isn't like sleeping a whole night undisturbed. I told my hubby this morning that when I wake up and look at the clock I wonder if I missed a check or if I just came home from one. So far I don't feel too tired.
Now I need to make it look like I did something here today and then it will be time to fix dinner. One time when I said fix dinner, somebody asked if it was broken?
~~~ waving at everybody I missed. See you later.
suzieq2761, that's the strangest Mac I've ever seen!
The only column I could handle by myself is a little 370# critter. Sure would like to have the BIG one, but in addition to being about $ 1,200.00, weighing too much and being out of proportion to the garden, it didn't have bumps in the right places. LOL Here's the little tyke I brought home. Off to pottery now.
Everyone be nice and stay healthy.
Evening- just had a big bowl of Edy's vanilla bean ice cream topped with butterscotch/caramel topping - it was out of this world. Still enough left in the carton to share!! I even have some hot fudge I could dump on for ya.
DH made dinner tonight - some kind of brat/bun with fresh asparagus - tasted great as I didn't have to fix it or clean up! We're having a bout of 'not speaking' - actually I am trying to not talk to him!! LOL He just doesn't get it and keeps asking me things- what a thick skull he has sometimes. I'd ask for the 2x4, but it is too cold to open the door for it!
I'm with m5- those with warm weather need to keep it to themselves....I already have enough zone envy, but now I suffer from heat envy too. My kids are flying to Arizona for spring break and now I have a bout of 'how come I have to sit home' envy on top of everything else!!
m5- glad DH stayed in Detroit to avoid the rotten icy roads. Better safe than sorry. Glad the ribs were good - I have some in the freezer that I should get out. Wonder if I could crock pot them??
Holy Cow Bal -that's not a pic of the stone you bought is it?? If you unloaded all of that, Dr Sue predicts you will have a hernia...better go check things out...
Molly - I think you win the prize for buying the most garden plants...Lets see, new trailer, new property, new plants, new gazebo, new pond. T'ain't fair!!! waaaa I want something new....(oops forgot, my new computer...)
DH just got out the ice cream - made himself a pig trough...but don't worry, I have another gallon hidden deep in the freezer...
take care all
0000h I love Edy's Vanilla Bean and I'm gonna have a pig trough of it right now!! Sarv, I did pretty much with my kids, DS dropped out of HS and I told him he needed to get a job and pay room and board, so he moved up north with a friend and lived at his mom's house for a while, finally figured out there was no place like home. By that time, we had bought a house and were moving, so my two oldest and some of their friends rented the house we'd been in, and he stayed there but had to pay his share of rent.
My older DD needed a math credit to graduate, and then didn't want to go to summer school to get it. Told her the same, get a job, pay room and board or move. She went back and got her credit, and graduated. My youngest, forget it. Dropped out of school, stubborn as a goat, but eventually went back and went to college and graduated but hasn't had a job that pays well since. I don't think you do them any favors by rescuing them every time they hit a bump.
Hey Sarv, wanna go somewhere hot sunny and sandy with me? I'm getting itchy feet. Wanted to go to the UK but DIl went broke and I'm not financing her trip this time, altho she always pays me back. Wouldn't mind a little trip to the Bahamas again. You can usually get a package for airfare and hotel for under $500, and I know all the cheap eats places down there. Let's run away.
Didn't get to go to the anniversary party, they had a full house. Told DIL she better not tell me how much fun it was! She's hoping they win the vacation package, so I told her she better not expect me to cat sit while she's off on a vacation and I'm stuck here. (I wasn't kidding either!)
Yup, that Sammi looks like an angel alright, he always looks like he has a little mischievous grin on his face, but he is full of P&V. He is also cuddly and loving so he can get away with a lot. You should see him fly when I pick up the spritzer bottle!
~~~ and good night, hope this doesn't double post.
Sheila
M5- I'd love to go somewhere warm, but alas, I don't fly....I blame it all on my mother, she was scared of her shadow and some of it rubbed off on me- despite my trying to overcome it. My feet stay on terra firma... Guess my warm spot will have to be the tanning bed at the huff/puff. Would you laugh if I told you that I cannot close the lid- I have to put a clip board in it to make sure it doesn't slam shut.... LOL I am really a piece......Actually haven't been in one for years...
Well, DH is snoring in his chair, I'm half listening to skating with the stars, plus trying to decide where to put some $$ - in a safe CD or a mutual fund. decisions, decisions...
Good evening everyone,
Janis, hope everyone is getting better FAST and that nobody else catches that bug. Even though I didn't want kids and never had any, I didn't escape this scenario because I was the oldest of 5 kids (= "instant babysitter") and also did some babysitting for money when I was in my teens and early twenties. It always seemed that there was a crisis of some sort about 5 to 10 minutes after the parents exited. On one memorable night one of my brothers managed to barf all over his own bed, moved on to another room and spewed all over that one too, than another brother got sick and added to the fun and games! I don't know whether there's any difference here between male and female, but I DO know that I almost added to the mess as I was trying to clean it up.
FC and M5, really lovely pictures! I managed to lose our wedding pictures somehow within about two months of the wedding. Oh well, the camera really is not my friend.
Sarv, thanks for posting the recipe. It sounds like something my DH would approve of.
Maria, thanks for the warning and I hope you're feeling better. Please don't let it go too far. I'm sure that you don't want to end up with pneumonia again. I remember how long it took you to climb up out of that the last time.
Robert, you could ONLY manage a 370 lb rock? I can barely manage a 40 to 50 lb bag. I feel like such a weakling!
Darius and Molly, I keep peeking in to see what you're up to and can only say that I'm awed at your progress. Don't know if you could hear it way down there, but I've been applauding!
M5 the kitty pics are great! Sammi looks like a furry angel (even if we all know that he's not quite).
D'cat, you wanted to see why it was such a project to wash my "mop" (or "mane" if you like) of hair, so I broke one of my own cardinal rules and had DH take a picture for you. (The front view is NOT happening!)
Waving to Mary, Lauri, Babs, Oz, dmcd, 9kitty, suzieq, 101, dr, Vann, pati, and anyone else that I've managed to overlook. Have a wonderful night.
I'm not believin it!! Had a post almost ready to send, turned my back and the devilish thing was *gone*. I don't even have a Sammy or Panda to blame it on!!! I had commented on so so much. Now let me see if this pea brain can remember it all.
Babs, you are the *lucky* one, aren't you? My DH's idea of packing is getting everything together and laying it on the spare bed. He has no idea how to fold *anything*. LOL When he comes home ... his suit case always resembles a portible clothes hamper. It *really* amazes me how he can build anything out of *anything* ... but can't manage to fold a shirt. ;) Hope your DH has a safe trip.
Sarv ... yea!! So glad you'll be getting your new computer soon. That's so exciting. We'll know where to find *you* for the next few days. LOL
Robert, sounds like you have been mighty busy lately. Hope the pups are getting along better these days.
Flower, hope your sinus thing doesn't turn into anything serious.
Woofens, how are the kids tonight? Am sending prayers that you and the DH don't get that nasty bug too. Sounds like you'll need your strength!
Ann, how is your DH doing tonight? Hope you were able to go in for a visit today.
Mary, thanks for the recipe. It looks wonderful and will be great for this week-end when I don't want to stay in the kitchen. Oh, and you're right about the weeds! I have found, though, that there are some mighty pretty weeds, too, though. Guess it goes back to the saying about junk??? hehehe No kidding ... some of them have very pretty flowers.
Well, my brain is burned out, so I'm just waving to the rest of y'all. I *really* did have a good post. ~~~ for now!! LOL LOL
... Elaine
Hi Everyone,
I've read all the messages but won't try to comment on all of them. It's been a busy day.
Went into the hospital this morning. DH was still in the Constant Care Unit. They thought he'd be moved to a room today, but I haven't heard if that happened. Visiting is from 11:30 - 2; 4 - 6; 7 - 8. I was there a bit before 11:30 and stayed till about 12:10. Had to pick up the grandtwins by 12:45 to go to Kindermusik. Since handbells rehearse at 6 and I would be facing rush hour traffic across the city if I went in the afternoon, we decided that I wouldn't try to get back till tomorrow morning.
He's on a self-administered morphine drip but said he hadn't used any today. Still on a liquid diet. Maybe he'll get real food tomorrow. He's likely to come home Sunday or Monday. If Sunday, I'm hoping that DD will be able to get him from the hospital. The smaller orchestra with which I play rehearses at a local church for very cheap rental, but once in awhile, they want some of us to participate in the service with their choir. that is happening this Sunday and it's rather late to get a sub; but I've told them that if necessary, I won't be there. I DID go to their rehearsal this evening after my handbell rehearsal, though.
Well, it's goin' on 11 and I have to collect garbage and get it out. They generally roll around the street at 7:30 am. Easier to get it out now.
Have a good night everyone.
Ann
Well, I said I would be back, didn't say what shape I would be in. I look like a cartoon character. Frizzled hair, frizzled nerves, this is just figuratively speaking. Took DM to her church pot luck meeting today. Was held in a new members home, and had a good lunch. Well, she completely monopolized the conversation, and just got on my last nerve. She wouldn't let the business meeting begin until almost 1:30. We ate at 11:30, and usually allow an hour for that. So we were an hour behind!! This woman sounded like a slow speed record turned up on high. Can't rember is that is 33 1/3 to 78,or vice versa. Now don't try to deny that you don't know what I am talking about. Didn't get home until about 3:00, with one heck of a headache. So I came in took some tylenol and hit the couch for about an hour before I had to think about fixing (it wasn't broken) supper. Read awhile, and have finally settled down. Well it only happens once a month, so maybe by the time the next meeting rolls around someone could let me borrow some xanex for the day!! I don't mind talking, but please have something to say before you start.
McCool, you sure have the hair, now I know what you mean. You chicken you, everybody else has given a good clean face shot. So what you gonna do, if I come visit this summer, wear a ski mask? LOL
Mary, AP sounds about like my Miss Boots. She doesn't like being in a vehicle, and wails her way to and from the vet. Gave up on the animal carrier, because she just freaks when put in it. So my trip to the vet with her, is with her draped around my neck the whole 15 miles there and back.
Okay, who was it that wanted a companion for a trip to the Bahamas, M5? Okay what day suits you? I can be ready in less than a 1/2 hour, trip to the airport, 1 hour, flight to the Bahamas, 2 1/2, okay will meet you there about about 6:00 am, I am allowing time for plane delays!! We have been twice on the "all inclusive" deals. Includes airfare, hotel and 3 meals a day. So it can be done for a very reasonable price. Free long distance. D-mail me, I will give you my phone number, and we will talk half a day if you want. Sammi looks like such an angel, but we know what he is capable of!! Why do all pets, and babies look innocent in sleep, and be such terrors when awake?
Vann, glad to hear that hubby seems to be doing well. Hospital stays here in US are short, due to pressure from insurance companies. So you had better walk in with your head under your arm before they will even think about admitting you!!
Bal, I have big time rock envy. I want one of everything your picture showed. Never mind I don't have a place for them, or even a themed garden where they would look good.
101, Some weeds are actually pretty, if they don't try to take over. The weather here today was about 68, but wind blew fiercely all day. Toward night, the temps started dropping, and the low tonight is supposed to be 30. DH tilled the garden today, so I am ready to plant some peas and some beets, and onions. Will do this probably this weekend. So where is the hosta going. Good tale about the doggie upchuck. DH called in sick. LOL it must be a man thing.
Babs how long will DH be gone. Glad he packs himself. My DH doesn't have a clue about packing. A walmart bag, would suit him fine. I try to tell him, that airports sort of frown on that kind of luggage, too hard to identify.
lauriewilson, sorry you are having neck problems. Hope it goes away soon.
Kittymom, Hi, how is therapy coming.
FC, my goodness, you are just a child, loved the pics.
Patti, how come you didn't tell us you were sick, we would have plenty of Ah, poor souls for you.!!
Woofens, glad to hear there has been no spewing lately.
dmc, yep, was I time I wished for bare floors and a hose and drain.
Sarv, the meat loaf pie sounds good for a cold winter night. How come you are staying home. You twit---you won't fly.
Molly,plant list sounds impressive. Persimmons are popular here too. Don't have one, but they say they are good.
Maria, take care of yourself, can you train Samson to fetch essentials for you? Thanks for the warning on the mulch. I read that in the paper, or saw it on the news.
dr. Glad you got to meet Bals fur kids. Great that you and DS had a nice walk and talk. I vote that you and Sarv, and Vann, post publicly your weight every day!!
susieq great looking computer. Don't know a thing about MACS.
Well, I have to take DM to Dr. tomorrow to have her pacemaker checked, then I have to go to the hospital for pre op blood tests. So will be gone until about noon. Everybody have a good night. Will check in when I get back tomorrow.
M5 Exception I do not think so. I have my bad habits also. I have had enough fishing boats to fill aboat yard and enough other fishing as to be beyond belief. We got a dishwasher. I changed some diapers but that was because I wanted to. I figure there is not many women who would marry a deaf man much less spend 45 yrs with him and his bad traits.
Ozarkian, I would marry a deaf man in a second. Wouldn't have to worry about him hearing the griping and complaining I was doing. LOL
Right on defoe!! LOL @ Oz!
My day didn't actually happen as I had planned. Of course, What on earth do I want???
I had my dentist appointment at 3 made it about 5 minutes early. Sat and read an entire Southern Living Magazine. Finally got up and said, you know I thought I had plenty of time to do this and my PT at 4:45. This was at 3:45. They were sooooooo sorry, had an unexpected complication in back. Routine cleaning and a crown comes off. Now that makes me feel warm and fuzzy.... Probably would be another 20 minutes or so and then my appointment would be 45 minutes so that was going to run over into my PT time. Could I possibly call them and tell them I might be late.??? I said no, I didn't think so and made another appointment for NEXT Thursday at 2:00, my PT is at 3:15. Should be plenty of time. sheesh only me, I think....
Got out of the dentists office about 3:50 and so I went and looked around at the Green Thumb nursery to see what they have out. I didn't buy anything, but I sure did want to. They had five different colors of helleborus, the oriental kind that Oz wants, and 6 different heuchera and one tiarella, I think I have all of these varieties, but I bet I buy some more anyway, any wagers on that.?? LOL
I then stopped at Sonic and had a diet dr. pepper with diet cherry syrup. And to counteract all the diet an order of tater tots.
Then stopped at WalMart and picked up a rotisserie chicken and called DH and had him make some potato salad so we could eat when I got home since I was going to be so late.
Since I am driving myself now (I am so proud, tee hee) I can make these little stops without hinting all over the place.
Got lots of laundry done today, not all of it but I made a dent. My sweet cats have decided they just love to pee on dirty laundry and even the clean laundry in the basket. That one makes me upset! Can't figure out why they do that sometimes and not others. Actually, we had the windows open yesterday and the day before and it seems that when we first do that every year, we have a pee fest.
ewwwwww
sorry about throwing that in...
I really must get some seeds started or it is going to be too late again. Last year I was very late and things didn't start blooming until late and some didn't make it to reseed. I wanted to be early and see if they might bloom earlier. That is if it ever rains. I listen to you all, rain, rain, rain, and we don't don't don't.
Gonna go start the daily for tomorrow.
Hi to all I didn't respond about. I read it all, then can't remember by the time I get to typing. LOL
Susan
=^..^=
Here is tomorrow's daily

Hope everyone has a good night, and a wonderful day tomorrow.
Hugs and kisses to Ranger puppy....

DH still takes me shopping on Wednesday, cause I have a hard time getting things in and out of the cart. But I am FREE......for the rest of the time. LOL
I mentioned to him how quickly I had gotten used to him driving me and he said 'QUICKLY????' it has been 8 weeks. I said actually it has been 6 1/2, must have seemed longer to you, huh???
He IS very happy to not have to drag me around, he can putter in his compost, and garden and chipping/chopping chores to his hearts delight. If he's happy, I'm happy. He's a sweetie!.
