Thanks vossner - I like the dark pink ones especially
Just wanted to share
steve, do you know if there is an all white daff in the tazetta family? I would like to buy some white next year. I know tazzetas (sp?) will do well in my zone.
Steve those are so pretty!
I don't know exactly when peak is here because everything is blooming early this year.We had a very mild winter and warmer tempatures. My tulips are just coming up and I am wondering if they will perform well this year since we only had a few cold days. Anyway things keep popping up and I will keep taking pics for you all. Keep posting all your gorgeous pics!
Steve, I hadn't thought of a ruffly thing, but that would be even better paired with my daff yellow daff, which is single w/ cup, Pipit.
thanks. I love your suggestiont. Maybe do send me the name of the single. You can never have too many bulbs, right? I bet I can find a place for them somewhere else.

Thanks cc, we had a mild winter too, but everything seems to be coming up OK. I am looking forward to seeing more of yours, and like you, I have stuff still emerging all over the place, and now even some lilies! They're like missiles popping up out of the ground. I am looking forward to seeing more of your pictures of your great landscape! You are near Chattanooga, right?
No problem, vossner - I think you should try the Erlicheers. Another good daffodil through zone 9a is Carlton. Most of the daffs that do well way south are the smaller-flowered ones, but this is a big one. I also planted two small cluster- like tazettas - Grand Primo and Grand Monarque - though I did not get good pictuires of them this year and they're just finished blooming.
Tazettas are probably better suited to a climate like yours than mine, because mine emerge so early that they tend to get frost-burnt and the foliage looks ratty, though they do bloom. Another tazetta I finally pulled out this year after four years for the same reason was Golden Rain - similar to Erlicheer but very yellow and a little taller - because they would always come up and bloom in January and even December, until the inevitable hard freeze came and destroyed them leaving a mess of ugly foliage. I should hve saved them and sent them to you because the bulbs were huge - if only I knew a couple of months ago that you liked daffodils!! If you are interested in my Grand Primo/Monarque, I will mail them to you (for free) after the foliage dies back. These are also both good through zone 9. Click on link below to see what they look like (I bought them from the fabulous Old House Gardens)

Below is Carlton blooming now
lovely and yes, I would be interested. thanks.
Yes I live in a suburb right outside the chattanooga city limits sign.
Those tulips are really pretty! You're way ahead of me, those double daffs are my last ones to bloom, you can't even see their buds yet here. Do you're doubles smell really good? I just love mine, they have a great smell. I planted a few of the Pheasant's Eye daffs this past fall, they're supposed to be later ones too, they're just now starting to come up. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/73070/index.html
That one's pretty too. Here is a different one that came in a mix from a couple of years ago...apparently I only got 1 or 2 bulbs of this one. This pic is from last spring, I noticed the dates on my pics from last year, this wacky weather has got them blooming almost 2 full weeks ahead of last year.
I love those pink tulips! I was looking at a magazine at work today, with some beautiful pink/pastel mixed plantings, and told my work friend that I wish we had "girlie" offices, I'm sick of our institutional pale green walls. That is so cool, the way you've got those beds and paths outlined with the rocks, it looks great!
Nice garden CC!!!
I love your Helleborus, they're awsome!
I almost bought one a while back, it was 30$ and gorgeous!!!
But I ended up not buying it....cause I didn't really have the funds.
I'll get one sooner or later though!
Steve
Can I send them(lenton roses) to you? I have seedlings to trade.I have never sent anything to canada and I just posted a pic of my california poppy blooming today on your annual thread. Vicki i love those pink ones I bought them at south eastern salvage 10 bags for a dollar I wish I had bought them all.It was in febuary two years ago so I only bought 2.00 worth because I was afraid they wouldn't do anything and I bought daffs too not very many tulips .

Nice picture :-) was it pretty easy to figure out?
I just don't seem to have any luck with tulips. I planted some of those pink, peony flowered ones one year and they never came up, then I planted a ton of multicolored ones and only 2 or 3 came back the 2nd year. Guess I'll stick to daffs, crocus and hyacinths...although I am hoping that those species tulips I planted last fall will perennialize. I had the red species tulips blooming today, I'll post a pic when I get them transferred to the computer.
cc--lots of pretty bulb blooms--and I especially like your red and white tulip garden pic taken with your new camera and your collages! so bright and cheery! t.
