Dave - is the house on the property? We did something like that in the Outer Banks a couple of summers ago.
Andy - I'm not likin' my oatmeal right now...much rather have what's on your plate! When it comes to digital photography - play! It's not like you will be wasting film. That's how I learned.
Coffee's On Again
Anita, No, that house is about 3 miles away. They come in 2-5 bedrooms.
Andy, Was that a Far Side mug?
You get my vote for Renaissance man of DG.
Andy - don't feel bad my computer doesn't like animation much mainly - Dena's slower slide show worked well.
Dena - didn't your anguish just begin here. note to self "try harder"
Shoot Andy, shoot, I take a hundred pics a DAY frequently... in the Anza Borrego Park last year I took 300 before we ran out of daylight. Here's one to show why we just kept shooting.
And by the way, you cook eggs just the way I like 'em. I'll be on over soon.
Dena, might's well learn early on that ''life is just one thing after another'' - to borrow from Gilda Radner. Somehow it makes it easier to roll with the punches if it's possible to not take it personally. This is the greatest site on the web, it's full of caring sharing people. I am so glad we all found it.
I thought you might have gotten the climbing lace cap hydrangea which is on my want list. I have seen a few around town - surprising when you consider our dry, extremely hot summers.
Got up late this morning, but that's allowed on a Saturday isn't it? ~Blooms
Blooms, Thanks for the nice words and the gorgeous photo!
Dave
Blooms - they are volunteers! I am hoping to get a few passion vine growing along there too
Dena,
OK you know what it is and are stringing me along. I came up with this
http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/63140-product.html
the paper copy looks a bit closer, if it isn't - O well.
bought a shovel and took pictures of shoes. where's the snow?
Gold!
Cleaned up the mess the neighbors St Bernard left for you ???
bobbing for 'apples' anyone?
does your family think you are insane yet?
I will let you use my line I tell people " you can question my methods, but NEVER question my results!"
Gosh you guys are busy! Let's see if I can catch up :)
Andy, love the breakfast - especially the carefully placed blackberries - nice effect :) But what the heck? We want to know what kind of maple syrup you're using for this scrumptious breakfast. As for taking pictures - agree with Blooms, practice makes perfect. We've had our digital camera since 2000 and it was only last spring that I learned how to use the darned thing. Probably the only reason I learned was because I got to adopt the "old" camera when DH got a new Nikon :) I was lost at first - actually still lost - have learned to adjust for flash and use the macro but other than that I basically use the automatic settings. After taking so many pictures of plants that I wanted to remember the names of at botanical gardens, etc. I learned how to use the recording feature - fantastic feature, but now it's been three months since I used it and I can't remember how!!!! I will admit that one of the best things about DG is, everyone's incredible photos inspired me to learn how to use this dang thing so I could post some pictures here as well.
Anita, yes my DH is a "dead head" :) I can honestly say that I didn't care for them when I was younger, never bought one record of theirs - but have acquired a "taste" for some of their music - or should I say I tolerate it? LOL :) I'm more of a blues fan - BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, but I'm open to most anything. Any of you Northeasters listen to Susan Tedeschi?? She hails from Massachusetts and I first started listening to her music back in '99 - brought her along to Virginia where no one had heard of her and turned a few locals into fans :)
Guess my homepage is confusing - think I need to go back and edit - when we first subscribed to DG, both Rick and I were posting and watching threads. Now it's just me with him looking over my shoulder - isn't that a man for 'ya - letting the woman do all the work? :)) So for anyone who's confused, this is Debbie, not RICK - "Dave, not DAVE" maybe I should change my name???
Al, you have Dmail :)
Oh the worms will think it's a Thanksgiving Dinner
hey ma taking pictures of horse poop NOW!
Hi Debbie - you must be a woman huh? Sorry about the mistake - I have never done that before.
Hey Jimmy Reed has a song called "bright lights, big city" that I can identify with - he is my favorite blues artist by the way.
Al
LOL Al, yes I am a "woman" - or at least last time I looked I was! :)
just look at those layers!
And it smells like great potential!
Nexts years soil will be breath taking!
The girl is going to need a good shower before they let her in the house again.
*snif...sniff....snifff!!! you might be onto something.......ok,
I'm gonna go clean up....Andy, whats for dinner? I'M STARVED!!!!!!!
oh, and Al, my family has come to expect this kinda thing from me, in the event I start behaving "normal" they very well could put me in a facillity and throw away the keys
rcn, B B King is all I listen to when I cook, crank it up! gets me going. Otherwise it's the Classical station.
GREN, last summers Chili from the freezer. yum
Hey, ehhh what's the sweat band for, it's cold out.
Andy P
MMM! Chili! Sounds good, I'll need to be jet propelled tomorrow!
Its not a sweat band Andy, its an ear warmer! It was very cold out there!
Dena, I'm envious of your horse manure! You'd think with us living in the same town as the Virginia Horse Center we'd have more available - but seems like someone scoffs it up and sells it!
When I was younger and I'd guess you'd either call us hippies or "homesteaders" - we had all the farm animals - chickens, pigs, rabbits, turkeys - but my favorite was our big ole Belgian workhorse, Dick :) He produced some of the "finest" manure and my perennials were glorious, thanks to him. Before we had the horse, we used to buy truckloads of cow manure - yuck!!! The place stunk for at least a week after - but not my horse manure - I actually became quite accustomed to its "sweet" smell. So dig away, and throw some my way will ya?
LOL! rcn, I'd like to say that the critters are mine but they aren't, they belong to a friend of the femily, who like me enough to share if I'm willing to "scoop" it myself. I have been around horses on and off my whole life, I adore them and to me...their sh%t don't stink. I would ride the horse (Molly) but she wont wear a saddle, she was abused and my friends adopted her so they wouldn't make glue out of her, riding her requires riding bare back and by the time I was finished shovling I was a Denasickle, and wanted coffee more than anything. The donkey on the other hand needs to be watched she is a grump and bites, she'd rather trample you than have anything to do with you. I gave her an apple, she left us alone (talk about brown nosin)
femily = family

Holy sh--! I leave you guys alone for an afternoon and you're out horsing around! Very productive though. I bet the caption for the horse pictures goes something like...Maybe if we pretend she's not there, the wack following us around with the shovel will go away! come to think of it Dena - you should have followed them around - then it wouldn't have been frozen!
Well, I got all the invites done and stamped -Phew!
Now to relax and watch the last two weeks of Stargate and Stargate Atlantis!
Anyone got a hot cup of coffee for me? I'm still freezing, I can't shake these chills!
Deb (Not Rick),
I don't know Susan T but your blues choices are great. Have you caught BB King's new CD he cut to celebrate his 80th bday? Its great! Kind of a duets thing with a guest artist on each song. I'm sure it would get Andy to cook up a storm.
You like Bonnie Raitt?
Dave (Not Dave)
Dena, Venessa is so cute. Is she your daughter?
Thanks a bunch Anita, the Al size coffee seems to be helping a great deal....
Deb(not Rick) I'm kind of an Ella Fitzgerald fan myself.
Dave(not evil)Yes the terd (not the real poop) in the picture is my daughter. The very funny and artistic, goth twelve year old, who tests the water and my patience every step of the way. Its a good thing I love her. I tossed doodie at her today she promised to disown me....
Dena, got into HD tonight after china buffet, didn't see you there. Bought some Fiskars floral snips for deadheading - looked at seeds - have all I need.
