Wow, I get to be first today too. It is after midnight here. So you all just take up the conversation here where it left off there?
defoe. yes, they all live in the house. It's really not as, um, lemme think of a word here....um.....well, it's not all that bad. Furry. Smells better than a dorm room. Cleaner too. Lots of fur though. During shedding season there are drifts of pet fur up against the walls. Seriously. We just scoop it up as we walk by. Wood and tile floors. No carpet. Susan is not much down in numbers......
Carol, would love the daylilies. I shan't say no.
Movie night was not so great. Though 'Rent' was worth watching just because Kai (Robs 17 year old) stood and watched a minute and then said " I just dont' get movies like this, people don't just start singing all the time!"
Rob and I were trying to decide whether or not the world would be a better place if everyone did burst into song at the drop of a hat. We decided it would depend on whether they could hit the high notes on key or not.

Dcat, you could just put some more mulch on those bulbs if you want. You can't really do much. If they want to come up, they will.
My hydrangeas are in the ground, have been for a few years and never looked this bad before. So it shall be an interesting spring/summer with all this bad weather on them.

Moon Twp, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi there! What is the hoodie doo?? If explained it yesterday, hope to read that at lunchtime. If not, please do!

Sorry about PITA shopping trips and DMILs. Life just isn't fair, it seems. I avoid most shopping trips. Cannot avoid dr. Went to chiro yesterday, after being in mega pain for last wk and half. Everytime he goes on vacation, my back goes out big time!!

He said that I was prob sitting wrong at computer, in addition to other things. It is just so congested here that gotta clean up and organize computer area and get better chair too!!

Got to run, get in/out of shower, fold laundry, get the DDs up and get out the door by 7:10. Later, Suzi :)

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone - just downed a brownie with my allergy pill! (is that called a chaser??? LOL)

What was up with chat last night??? sob, I waited all day and it was kaputt. Hey Dave, I think we need some extra time on it.....

Keyi - that's some household of pets you have!! One cat sheds enough hair for me...plus all those claws!!

Briar, get a better chair - I spend more hours in my computer chair than I do anywhere else in the house. Mine rocks, swivels and goes up and down. My only complaint is that back is not high enough and I'd like the seat cushiony-er. But if I get a lap top, I can sit in my lazyboy.....whoopee

No plans on the burner for today. I never did yesterday's dishes, so I have a double dose today to wash, plus the usual bed making -pick up - daily stuff.. May start a couple more seeds today. I'm surprised at how slow mine are growing - they're just sitting there.

The squirrels pull plants out here to get the alphafa pellets. Only one left tho (hunter next door!!)

Hope the day goes well for everyone....

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv, Good morning, Dave did give extra time last night after he turned the chat back on.

I got in for a few minutes but couldn't stay up any longer. I was too sleepy.

We've got lots of fog here this morning. Sposed to burn off by 10:00. I started some yesterday but have the rest of the siding to get painted so Jeremy and Darius can get them hung on the pumphouse. Darius directs and Jeremy provides the muscle. Although yesterday Darius got up on the ladder and helped with the F channels and cut her finger. She's going to let Jeremy do the cutting on this part of the job. If I can get that done, then I will let myself get to planting some of those trees and bushes we bought yesterday. I have 1 azalea and 2 camellias I bought last month that will go in front of the pumphouse on each side of the door. They really want to get in the ground, bad.
Maybe today.

You guys were chatty yesterday and I got left WAY behind!!!

I'm hoping to get all through yesterdays posts....and I didn't even get to chat last night. I did watch some Olympics and was very impressed by Sascha Cohen's performance. I'm pressing my luck and going horse jumping again today!!

dcat~I hugely enjoyed your pictures! What a great family! And it's nice to see you. Also nice to see DMIL whom I've prayed for every day. (I wish there was more of the horse in the picture LOL Okay, all my kiddo pics have a horse in them!!)

keyi~ I watched the Snickets thread faithfully, back from when you were trying to decide which ones to keep LOLOLOL....(As if there were a chance). So it's nice to see you here! I've developed allergies to my pets (3 cats, two dogs, four horses) so I'm going to try desensitization. Loved the cartoon. I threaten to sing when my kids get too obnoxious. I'm the WORST - pure caterwauling!!

Molly~Wish I had gotten on chat, I just want to tell you I'm so inspired, just so inspired, by how great you're making your place. I have to store all that up and EXPLODE into action if (when) it gets above freezing here, and work around the clock until winter again (it's not that long!!). You do as much in a couple days as I get done in a season, 'course, I don't have Darius andJeremy.

sarv~yummy! Sounds like what i should have, a brownie and an allergy pill. Milk too?

briar rose (suzi)~I wondered what brought you to Fort Edward? There is so little happening there except PCB dredging.

Back to read yesterday's posts **waving*****

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone,

Skipped aquafit, but plan to go for coffee at 10. (Actually, I went yesterday, having forgotten that I was going to switch Wednesday for Tuesday now that I can.) Left shoulder is a bit sore - combination of playing a lot of viola and doing more aquafit; so with two concerts and 5 rehearsals by next Monday evening, I need to rest it a bit. also want to do aquafit tomorrow as the Thursday deep water instructor is the best of the lot. There! Have I sufficiently justified my decision?

After coffee, I'll head in to the Food Cupboard as a volunteer. Will help in the background, but also as an interviewer when they open at noon. It's the first Wednesday that I've been able to do that since I retired.

Have been wading through some of the excess of paper that has surrounded me for years. Now that I don't have FC paper, maybe I can manage the rest. Tackled Handbells first. Reorganized the way I file my music. Will have to head over to the church at some point to refile everything there, but for now, the director's copies are all reorganized in a binder. I keep one copy of everything at home both for ease of looking at it as well as having one copy of everything off site.

I have another notebeook which still needs organization where i put all the bills for music purchases, and records of bell repairs, etc. It's a mess at the moment. But everything to go into it is all in one pile. :-)

Got a chance to see a little bit of the Olympics last evening and watched it on US TV. The CBC coverage was all hockey. I hope Russia beats Canada today. Then we might see other stuff. Great performance by Sasha Cohen. Hope she comes through for gold.

Oh no, Sue. Do the squirrels really go after the alfalfa pellets? I was gonna get some for my hostas, but I already have too many squirrels. They start by digging up my crocus bulbs. Or worse, the bite off the flower bud JUST before it's going to open and then leave it sitting there. Wouldn't be so bad if they'd eat it.

defoe, I also enjoyed the pictures.

More later, I guess. Hope you all have a good day.

Ann

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Mary, Ribs and Kraut sound great for a cold day. DH likes them with BBQ but I snag a few out for the next day's lunch, and put them in the slow cooker in the morning with a little can of kraut just for me. I've just gotten him to eat cabbage, after 20+ years, so I don't hold out much hope for kraut.

Sarv, not your fault that DB and SIL have to reschedule their vacation, they had plenty of time to find another watch dog for ltheir kids. How selfish of them, you don't need to feel one bit guilty. I have to say some of the Dell and Gateway packages look pretty interesting. A friend of mine who does a lot of professional photo work to make cards and calendars has a Gateway, and has gotten free upgrades since she bought it. She likes it very well and has had no problems.

Briar Rose, and McCool, I STILL don't know what the hoodie hoo is, probably some secret society password that we are not privy to. That bit of nonsense doggeral I posted just comes out of me like hot air with no encouragement whatsoever. If I tried to do it, nothing would happen, but once in a while the first couple lines pop into my head and from there it takes off on it's own.

Dcat, thanks for sharing the pics, nice to see you!! I can't guarantee that slaying the laundry monster here will prevent it from rearing it's ugly head in other homes. It gets reborn like dust and mold, and unanswered mail.....no stopping it.

Imagine, our ancestors wore the same clothes all week long until laundry day. I'm betting we do a lot more laundry than they did when they had to boil water on top of a wood stove and scrub it on a wash board. They had to work harder at it though. My mom did it with a wood stove. How we kids hated laundry day! House was all steamed up. Clothes had to be hung on a line outside, freezing weather or not.

My grandmother used to bring in frozen long johns (not the bakery kind) and prop them up next to the stove to thaw. We thought it hilarious when the legs thawed and they slowly drooped to the floor. Well, we didn't have television in those days, didn't take much to amuse us.

Robert that puppy has grown so much already! Aren't you glad you made the trip to get her? What beautiful faces on those Shelties.

Hi, keyi, and welcome. Glad Ranger is still with you. Is he handling the chemo well? He's such a beautiful dog. You have sugar gliders!! I would love to have a pair, they are so cute. Do they require a lot of care? I'm putting on a pot of lemon zinger for you since you aren't a coffee person. We have tea potters here too.

MG , I heard chat was kablooey last night. I don't go on, it's too fast for me, but somebody put a thread up called Annex so I guess some were able to chat there. Pass the chocolate, it 's too early for a margarita.

9kitty, no news is good news as far as your DD's nonexiting stone is concerned. This is going on two weeks now, isn't it? What a chore, straining............never mind. LOL

DR, everything looks bad here right now. After several weeks of above freezing shrubs and trees were starting to bud, and then we got the zero days, so there will be far fewer spring blooms this year. Too bad, my lilacs were so nice last year after 4 years in the ground. Not much we can do about it.

Dmcd, I'm in the same boat with you. I've been requested not to sing more times than I can count. I usually do it to annoy my children. My folks used to say I couldn't carry a tune in a bushel basket, so I didn't put much effort into it.

I should have asked for the 2X4 last night. We were watching the Olympics in the living room, and about 9:30 I told DH I was tired and cold and going to bed. Went in the kitchen to start the dishwasher, and lo and behold, he made tracks for the bedroom and turned on the tv in there, and there went my peace and quiet. I put a pillow over my head but I could still hear it, and it didn't go off until 11: He can sleep through football, auto races, etc., but I can't. Big boob!

I'm going to go tackle those drapes again and get that seam unseamed....%#$@%!!

Here's Sammi destroying the evil mouse this morning...does he look like Barishnikov???
Later dudettes,

VAnn, just make alfalfa tea for the hostas. They will love it, and the squirrels don't bother the tea, just whole pellets. http://davesgarden.com/terms/go/2294.html

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Oops, missed your post Ann....won't it be nice to get rid of some the excess paper. I shred frequently and has never missed the things I've culled. And we still have a four drawer file cabinet in the basement with DH's old papers in it, but I don't bother with his stuff. You still have a busy schedule though...you and Molly make us all look like slackers.

One more Sammi shot, out of about 30 pictures, I got only four with him midair...! Some shots I got nothing but carpet!!

Good morning all. Evidently I died last night. Didn't go to bed until 2:00 am, but slept until 8:30 when the phone rang. It was DH calling from the hospital. Yuk, this is grocery shopping day, and I am already behind. Probably won't get home until afternoon.

M5, love the Sammi shots, looks like he is dancing in the first one.

Well, I am out of here. If I don't get started, I won't get done.

Will check in when I am back from the grocery.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning Everyone!

You don’t know about Hoodie Hoo Day? While it’s unclear just where the legend began, at noon on February 20 everybody in the cold portions of the Northern Hemisphere is supposed to run outside and yell “Hoodie Hoo!” three times, shake your fist or hands and spin around. According to the tradition, winter will become frightened and head for the North Pole.

Sarv, if chat isn't working, head over to Dave's Forum, chances are we have the "Chat Annex" up and running in there.

Dcat, I love your family photos! I hate grocery shopping too.

M5, when I get mad at a sewing project gone wrong, I tend to chop it up in little bitty pieces with the pinking shears. I know, I have anger issues, lol.

Hi to everyone else!

I have to go now, I have computer time limit for the rest of the week. I've been bad lately and I'm almost grounded.

;~)

Alfalfa tea works great for just about everything. The roses love it and I will give some to my hostas if they ever decide to appear..
Morning everyone....I'm here.. sorta. Migraine leftovers are not fun...Hope everyone is better and things are going good.
Love the shots of Sammy he should be in the olympics!! He's so pretty and a good mouser to boot.
Have to do the uncovering of everything from last nite and then attempt some laundry and maybe a nap later....Be good and if you can't take pictures. I'll check in later.....Lauri

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Morning all! Hope everyones day has gotten off to a good start.

Sarv - I have a MAC here at work and I love it. very user friendly. I got a new one about a year ago and should be getting another new one by the end of this year due to some changes they are making. I don't follow all that technical stuff, the boss does that. I have a PC at home, but only because BIL has a computer business and I can get one from him cheap and don't pay for repairs.

Keyi - Loved the Maxine cartoon. I want to be a witty old broad like her when I grow up.

M5 - Thanks for the Sammi fix. What an acrobat.

I'm going to check out that alfalfa tea. Never heard of it. I saw some tulips popping up over the weekend and covered them with mulch. Hope that did the trick.

To everyone I missed, Hi! waving and sending good wishes your way. See ya later.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

suz- no fair you getting a computer from BIL- I have such a dud family!! If only I could figure out how to get pics to go thru to DG, I might hang onto this one for a bit longer. I have tried everything..sob

Oh nuts, I only opened the door and hollared hootie hoo one time. Now we are sure to have winter longer!! It is sunny and bright out here today. I took a pot of lupine seedlings and put the in the sun - they aren't doing much of all under the lights. I should wander out and see how warm it is in the greenhouse, but I just washed my hair and it is air drying. Maybe later.

I too use alphafa tea on everything. I am not very good at measuring tho - toss in a couple handfuls of pellets, fill the pail up with water and let it sit for a couple of days. Darius, should I really measure everything??? And does it matter if you use it right away or is it better to let it steep awhile.

I often wonder what companies do with their old computers. Seems like a lot of hardware floating around. All of our schools have nice new labs, so they don't want the old ones...

Well, time to see if I can rearrange the hair so it looks decent!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. Awwww, Sammi is so cute and such an acrobat! I've brought frozen clothes into the house to thaw and finish drying. Here in our low humidity they will sometimes freeze dry if they can be left out a couple of days, but when it starts to snow, gets foggy or windy they have to come back inside. My clothesline is one of those cheap umbrella types and the stem is getting bent from having heavy loads on it in strong wind. I enjoy the fresh air smell so I sometimes hang things out there for a while even if I know they won't get dry, then they get finished up on the folding rack next to the wood stove.

Mg, how long does it take this hoodie hoo thing to work? My guess would be about six weeks.

M5, that unseaming is exactly why I quit sewing! I just made too many mistakes. Sewing comes so easy to some people, like art or music or things like that, but that talent missed me by a mile.

I watched a bit of the ice skating last night and was impressed with Emily? the little sister of another skater who is apparently not skating any more since I saw her cheering wildly in the stands. She is very talented and agressive, cute as a bug and has a great future as an Olympian. I think she is the skater who was the first alternate and got in when Michelle Kwan pulled out. My dishes got done during the commercials but I needed to get some sleep so didn't stay up once the kitchen was cleaned up.

Last night there were no lambs born on my shift, in fact there were none at all yesterday. This could be.... er... probably is the calm before the storm. With 100 ladies waiting to have them I guess I had better look at the calendar to see when the moon will be full. We never go a season without what we call the lamb explosion but it usually happens when we already have the barn full and we set up temporary pens to give each little family their own little space. This year there are less sheep so maybe the barn will be adequate. Funny how this season started out, Paul, the owner had written down the wrong date and they started 5 days early according to his calculations, he wasn't prepared with getting the barn organized, help, supplies, etc, and we (he and I) were handling it all, then just as we got it together and his daughter arrived to help, the ladies quit making deliveries!

Today is my trip to town so I had better get my shower and organize stuff that needs to be done. The weather seems to have warmed up, maybe I will get to go riding this afternoon if the ground thaws out a little bit. Trotting a horse on frozen ground is just like pavement, too much concussion on the feet and leg joints. Yesterday's high temp was about 25.

Hello and waving to the rest of you. Have a great day everyone!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

OK everyone, I think this old gal might be in luck today. I pushed a bunch of buttons, talked to oz, tried something new and we'll see it it works. If it does, this is just a pic out our window at our barn. It used to be total woods behind it, but an industrial park went in way off in the distance...grrr..well, here goes!!

Hoodie Hoo... remind me next year or I truly won't remember, LOL!

M5 - ditto on the ruining of sleep! I used to do that too, unfortunately. Even if I could get the TV off, couldn't fall asleep if he fell asleep first, cuz he snored big time! It was horrible!!! Enough to wake the dead... guess that is why our attempted reconciliation didn't work, I got cranky from no sleep!!!

Just got rid of his butt, now the girls wake me up, lol... something about this seems totally unfair, doesn't it?! 8 y/o snores just like her dad, LOL

Didn't know about "chat annex" before either. Can't believe no one has mentioned it in how long... I was going to get on for a little while, but it wasn't working at all. BOO!!

What time does the Thurs AM one go for? I see it at lunchtime at 1130 here, but it will never let me in, even by trying to do what some have called the backdoor.

Love the Sammi fix too. Love all cute pics, esp the little girl asleep + leaning on the shelves that I saw the other night, LOL. (Rest were cute too, but had seen them already.)

I need to follow suit and do the organizing too V Ann! Big time! Got lots of boxes still to go through from when we moved... some of those are from other moves!!! Moved so many times, it is almost ridiculous.

Finally got my own home, but so busy with school since way before I moved in. Told the guys that helped me to please put these couple things in a box on my side porch so that I could get to them first... never found the box. Has my divorce paperwork, birth certs, other impt papers in... Where the heck did they put those items??!! I need to go through all of it before start back to school in May!!

Buzzer rang - lunchtime is over... Later, Suzi :)

Well friends, since I figured this out, I'm gonna try another pic. This is the wedding that took place in July. I'm in the black and the boys are ours...DS shaved his head for the wedding - makes him look ten years older than he is - he has always been a contrary one.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Woohoo! I'm finally here for a few minutes. I've been working on slaying the laundry monster, but I'm sure all of you know just how successful a venture that can be.

To answer a few questions posed in y'day's Coffee and..... I've pretty much convinced DH that Mum should be the first to use the new toidy! I showed him all the posts from so many that the consensus here is for Mum to have the honours, so I think that's what will happen. We'll make a ceremony of it! LOL. Me Da would have been proud. He always called the water closet (WC) the "launching pad" and always made cracks about heading for the launching pad and not to bothering to send any assistance unless we actually saw flames shooting out from under the door. Remind me someday to expand on this story a bit, it's pretty funny. My Da was quite a character.

Now, as to the other question about the punctum plugs. I did have the new ones implanted yesterday. I have SICCA Syndrome from having Sjogren's coupled with Rheumatoid Arthritis. About 4 years ago I started having troubles with my eyes and had ulcerations of the corneas because of the dry eyes which required I have punctum plugs placed in the lower tear ducts of my eyes. The right one came out about 3 months ago and now I've had the left one removed and new ones inserted yesterday. Here is a link to the definition.

http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=8020
http://www.eye-doc.net/lacrimal_plugs.htm

The second link (about half way down the page) will take you to the punctum plug site that shows the process for insertion and explains the use of the plugs. I have the Herrick Lacrimal Plugs in now. I had a different brand in before and the doc is hopeful I'll have a better success with this style than I had with the original "mushroom-shaped" ones.

Because of the Sjogren's, I use Biotene Dental Products. These products have no alcohol in them which is a drying agent. I don't make tears or saliva or any moisture elsewhere for that matter, so one can imagine the problems. I'm more open to infection and must be careful of the medications I use as they can cause even more problems with not making moisture. I must drink fluids with food and be sure to take small bites and chew well. I mostly eat chicken and fish over other meats, but I eat the dark meats of the fowl. The white meats are too dry and I have trouble swallowing them.

Well, it's time I head back out to the laundry room. I hear the washer and dryer alarms going off so I'm being paged to come take care of business.

I hope everyone is having a good day. I'll try to get back here a little later.

Hugs to all!!! ~Babs~

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hey Sue,

You DID it! Great pics. You look great too.
Now that you know how, we'll expect more.

Just home from FC. Nice to just leave the files and walk out. LOL
Also nice to get to talk with the clients and get to know them. They were mostly just names on paper to me because I was always reviewing the files. And the client who did the bead work logo as my farewell gift was in today; so I got a chance to thank her in person. (Still don't have a pic of it. They are going to frame it, but it's not done yet. The volunteer who co-ordinated the project has a pic on HER computer, or rather her husband's computer. She rarely uses it; so I might not get one for awhile.)

Am going to take off and go by my church to start moving music files around.

Ann

Clinton, IN(Zone 5b)

Yay!! I finally caught up. Only took me about two hours to read thru everything. I haven't been on for four days, so I had alot of catching up to do. I had to slay the laundry monster too and it was a BIG monster. Plus, I've been watching the Olympics and American Idol, so it cut into my DG time. Lots of new people since I last read, so I'm not the newbie anymore : ) There is no way I can remember what everybody said, so I'm not even going to try to respond to everybody, just waving frantically to everyone!!

Also, I have some brownies in the oven, so everybody is welcome. You all can have the part with the calories, that way we can share them between everybody and it doesn't end up on my hips!

Sarv- I did remember one thing I read! Schools do get rid of their old computers sometimes, but I don't think they publicize it. My MIL is a teacher so she got one of the old ones from our school for my son to use, but the problem is that they completely strip them down before they give them out, so it doesn't even have running programs on it and we can't figure out how to get it to work. I think you're better off to just get a new one instead. There is a website where you can buy some pretty nice ones cheaper than retail. That's where we are going to get our new one. It's www.tigerdirect.com

Well, got to go. My DH is upstairs calling for me. I'll try to check back in later.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I DID IT - HAVE A NEW COMPUTER!!! Can you believe it!! I almost decided not to get one as I figured out how to send pics with this old one, but my brother called and told me to quit hoarding my $$ - spend it and enjoy it before the nursing home gets it. He is right, it is just hard for me to part with $$ when I still have a computer that works - albiet slowly....

He met me at Office Depot and since they had no more in stock, we had to order it. He laughed and said I will never use all the memory it has on it...hmm we'll see. It comes in ten days..

Babs -ouch - anything around my eyes makes me wince. I wish I didn't have so much moisture (saliva) in my mouth - I could fill buckets with it - it's very annoying. My skin however is dry and a bone. Hope the new things work great for you!

VI - now that I know how, I'll probably bore you all with tons of pics....please tell me if I overdo it!

DH is cleaning out the woodstove and the air is thick with ash stuff - gotta go where I can breath better!

Babs this was most intereting, never heard of it before, though I have terrible dry eyes and mouth, sometimes eveerything is lury then I have to use some drops that help for a short time.

Sarv, YOU FINALLY DID IT! good for you, you will just love it once you get used to it, just don't give up, ever!!! I loved seeing your pictures and that great barn and you look just wonderful, I expected to see some one weighing about 250 lbs, lol, the way you eat all those sweets but you look perfect .

I like to see Cohen winn tonight, hope she holds up

Did not win any millions last night, on five tickets I had a few numbers right, for $9.00 lol but made $4 you would think they give you a little more considering some one may win millions, don't even know if some one did win.

m5~stick a pair of earplugs in your nightstand, they make comfortable foamy ones, and you'll be able to sleep. Yes, Sammi looks like he might have a career as an outfielder!I'd have to see him with tights to see if he'd pass for Baryshnikov!!LOL He's something else!!

Did you grow up in WI? I was wondering about wash last Fri, when we were without power, thinking how dreadful it would be to wash things like sheets by hand, then wring them, then hang them in freezing weather. Not to mention scalds from the water. I never thought about how steamy the rest of the house would get....then, hey, when you were ready to DROP you'd still have to get rid of the wash water, back outside in the freezing weather! My guess is that the laundry monster won most of the rounds back then!! At least today he doesn't have to be slain barehanded!

Edited to add:
sarv~BEAUTIFUL picture, you're gorgeous!! It made me realize I'd better clean up my act before I need to get in any wedding pics....

Congratulations to Sue on the new computer!!!!!!!
What did you end up ordering?

I'm another that could afford to lose 20 pounds. Somebody nominated me for the YWCA's Women of distinction awards because of the Food Cupboard work. Don't think I have a prayer of winning, but it should be an inspiring evening in mid-May. And given that they nominated me in the "healthy living" (or something similar) category, I thought maybe I should really get my act in gear to take off those 20 pounds. Think I can do it by mid-May?

Well Canadian men's hockey are out of the Olympics. I say it's about time. They seem to think they have a God-given right to win all the time. But now, I expect the hand wringing to begin. Hope they at least show a bit more of what else is happening on TV. Haven't watched any today, but think I will tonight.

Today was shopping day.
DH wanted to stop at Evans Nursery to get his onion plants and potatoes to plant soon.
I found Super Thrive which I have been trying to find and could not find. I heard about this on the propagation forum, supposed to be super wonderful. LOL

Got some more goodies for my Round Robin boxes. Those are fun. :)

Went out and walked around outside after we got home because it is so nice. Was 64 today. Checked on the quince flowers, they are dead, checked on the budded out daffodils, also dead, so that was a bummer. My clematis have budded out and I am supposed to prune them first, so now I am at that point I always am, I hate to cut off the budded parts.

Oh, yeah, my golden apple snail laid another huge clutch of eggs. I already have about 30 baby snails in there that are about 1/4 inch, and didn't really want another bunch of babies. So being the coward that I am, I had DH remove them since he said they weren't snails yet and it didn't bother him. I said they were too snails, they were fertilized and were developing. Anyway, he did it, I wasn't going to watch, of course I did, and almost cried. I told mama snail I was sorry. I am odd, have you noticed that before?? LOL

Baby Cory Kitten is now feeding in the large group of adults when they have their feeding frenzy after I feed them in the evening. THAT is cute!!!! Little miniature catfish right in there with the big guys. Again, odd......

Refilled the woodpecker suet and the seed blocks, the birds are really going through those. So much fun to watch though.

Been feeling around for hosta sprouts and found quite a few. I need to go out and put some water on things if I can make time to do it left handed. That will be quite a chore. It was a chore when I was two armed but now,...whew!!!

Better go do a set of exercises, I have been gone all day and have only done one set. Have to be good. Did I tell you they made me another four weeks of appointments and I can't go to Indiana for DD's surgery March 15??? I think I did, but it is weighing on my mind, so I will repeat myself.

dm - thanks - I'm certainly not gorgeous, but I can clean up pretty well and look decent... I wear glasses, but have the kind that darken in sun, so I had to take them off and hold them for all the pics. It was a beautiful day, but man am I glad it is all over and done with....I'm not a fal-da-ral kind of person.

VI - I ended up getting the HP widescreen notebook. My brother said it was ok, so I went with what he said since I know little. I am so used to this old clunker, that I know I will miss it!! And of course everything will be different on a pc than a mac. I'll probably be begging for help here! Congrads on being nominated. Should we see who can lose 20 lbs first??? If I could drop 10 - I would be happy!! (as I just ate a cookie LOL)

9Kit- get busy and do those exercises. So sorry you can't be with your daughter... I have superthrive but have a hard time only adding a 'drop'. I need to get one of those dropper things. I don't understand why it doesn't come with one!

Our hydrangeas were all budded out too - no flowers on those....I need to go whack down some of my clemetis..thanks for the reminder!! Gonna have a cold spell this weekend....

Yikes the news is on and they are saying that glucosamine/chrontrotin is not good for arthritis...man, I've been taking it faithfully...Time to go watch tv for awhile

Wow, I dont' know if I'm savy enough to keep up with you all. Maybe the herbal tea doesn't have enough umph. But thanks for the lemon zinger, I like that one.

Sarv --the love they give us more than makes up for the hair they shed. I do understand people who can't deal with it though. It was sort of an accident here, but there's only one of them we'd trade, and she's moving out with her 'boy' next week. So then it will be 6 dogs hopefully.

dmc -- the cats are all doing great. Snicket is settling back down. All 4 kittens go to be 'fixed' in the morning. I can't believe they are 6 months old already. It seems like just last week that they were being born into my hands. I am allergic to everything except the snake. I can't even touch the rats or I break out in hives. For the others I take lots of benadryl, sprays & inhalers, and wash my hands often. I am a compulsive hand washer. It's been so long since I felt non allergyfied that I think I'd die from shock if I ever could breathe clearly.

Sheila -- I am glad Ranger is still with us too. He's not doing well today. There were tons of little rainbows in the kitchen from hanging prisms today. I tried to catch them and give them to him and told him he could go to them anytime he felt he needed to. I took a photo of him laying with a rainbow resting on his hurt leg. I don't know if it came out well enough to see yet.
Lets see, Sugar Gliders are a LOT of work. Don't get them if you don't plan to spend a lot of time preparing fresh fruits for dinner. They are also very active at night. I am a night person, so am usually up when they are. A day person would never get to see them. The males also have a smell that is hard to define. Sort of rotten fruit like. They pee on you whenever you hold them so you smell good to them. Have to wear a trash shirt. Girls aren't smelly at least not enough that I can tell with the boy around. (Also the boy 'smells' whenever its going to rain. He's more accurate than the weatherman!) If you walk into their room and it reeks you can pretty much bet it's gonna rain, so if you live in a rainy area I would vote against getting one. Also their food attracts lots of those fruit fly/fungus gnat things. Just forgetting to clean them one day will see a swarm. SG's also live to be about 15 or so, so it's a long time commitment.

Congrats to whomever got a new computer up there. That's excellent. Gotta go for now, hi to everyone. Have a great day! Mich

They can say what they like, when I started taking it, after four months I didn't see any results, but then I noticed a difference when I stopped so I started again, and have had much less knee pain. It is supposed to help rebuild the cartilege where it is worn away. Well, they poopoo'ed chicken soup too. And found out that getting chilled makes you susceptible to colds...So There.

Congrat's on the nomination Ann, if you win, we will have a party.

9kitty, too bad about the necessary continuance of the therapy, but better to do it and be completely healed than to interrupt and have problems later. I'm sure your DD would have loved to have you there to hold her hand but your health comes first.

Yay, Sarv sprung for the new computer!! You''ll get familiar with it in no time, most are more user friendly than when we got our first one in the 80's. Did it come with Windows XP? There are lots of tutorials on it. I learn by trial and error, well, most of the time, anyway. Nice pic's, you look great. Wish I had a barn like yours. Barn envy? LOL I've already got zone envy and weight envy, don't know if I have room for any more.

Dmcd, yes, I'm native Wisconsinite, but my dad moved around a lot, so there was Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Colorado, in the mix. Went to a lot of different schools, which forced me to drop my initial shyness in order to survive.

Briar Rose in one of my many moves I managed to lose two photo albums that were my Dad and Stepmom's old pictures, from their childhood on. I'm still looking for them, but I think they are gone forever. I learned to unpack everything immediately after that, even if it was just to look in the box and close it up again. I need to go resort and discard a lot of things in the basement...one of these days....

Babs, you manage a very difficult health issue, most of us don't realize how much we need all those tears, spit, mucousa, etc. I had very dry eyes after my cataract surgery but it cleared up in a few weeks. Used those drops all the time. Hope the new plugs work well for you. Never knew about that condition.

Drapes are done. NEVER NEVER again, if I so much as hint at doing drapes, somebody grab that 2/4 and whack me a good one. Took me an hour to unseam that mistake. Then I forgot to pinch the hooks tighter in order to not slip out of the little holes in the plastic hangers, so I had to pull the hooks out, pinch them and put them back in. ARgggghh!!! My ADD must have taken over half way through this particular folly. Or else I am so out of practice that my brain has lost any concept of how to do things properly.

Dinner's done. ugh. tuna casserole DH's favorite. I made myself a big lunch, soup and a toasted cheese sandwich with tomato slices in it...and a teeny little Dove ice cream miniature (just one)so I won't eat much of that.

Waving bye to one and all for now....
