What forum was I in??

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

This is a minor issue, so I won't mind if you don't do anything about it.

But when I've added a post to a thread, the next screen gives me these choices....

"return to the thread"
"return to the forum"

Maybe it's an age problem, I don't know, but I often can't remember what forum I was in. And the top of the page only says "home" or "garden".

What do you think?

Alexandria, IN(Zone 6a)

You are right that it doesn't tell what forum you were on. But ........

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

not sure of your question, I would return to the thread to see where you were. where are you now ? go towards the light.
Al

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Very funny, Al.

I have been returning to the thread, or sometimes to home. That's why I said I realize the issue is minor. Not a big deal.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Not picking on nap, but this post and Al's rejoinder gave me a chuckle.

Dave needs to have the page come up with a big "YOU ARE HERE" dot and arrow on a map.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Daaaave! They're picking on me!!!

(It's okay! I don't really feel picked on. If I were inclined toward smilies or LOL's, I'd put one here.)

Oh ok. Just one though, :)

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

How do you keep finding your way back here? Aren't you lost?
auntie 'em , toto

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I wonder how long it would take me to get to Menasha........

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I'll be at the store, just wait outside until I get home

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm leaving now.....

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

You would think I would be spreading myself thin with as many irons I have in the fire on DG, but no - I'm good.
See you and about 5 other people later :)

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

It's been fun.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

it doesn't matter if you remember which forum you were in--if you click on "return to forum" it'll take you right back to the forum you just posted in so you don't have to remember.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Al is currently unavailable Nap, he has gotten himself into a bit of a situation at Lambeau Field in Green Bay for messing with my eyebrows.

You can read all about it here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/576992/

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Mg. You go, girl! I'm right behind ya!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

How about trying the BACK button to see where you were?

Kerrville, TX(Zone 8a)

When the back button doesn't work, try the dash or hyphen located at the very top right-hand side of your screen monitor. The enlargement square is to its right with the *X* closure box next to that. It will reduce the page down to your immediate previous page.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nap,
Stay away from those midwestern women, I married one and look where I spend all my time.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Surprise! I just tried it and the screen disappeared!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes, Pirl. That's just a "minimize" feature, flowerette.

All these suggestions work, and I have used them all before. But it's probably more of an annoyance to me that I forget where I was, you know?

But I've seen Dave solve less important wishes than this one. So I just thought I'd ask.

Okay. I'm over it now.

But I'm not over you yet, Al. One of these days.....

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Being challenged in having to big a brain to keep track of which area of the globe I stored that, I just go to MY INFO and click on VIEW POST YOU HAVE MADE and that lets me remember what I just said and did.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

If you don't recall the forum you just posted to, your best bet is to click on the "return to forum" link and see.

I suspect it would be a tough programming task to have the message customized to read "return to [name of forum] forum".

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Terry.

Terry, I think you mis-typed. You probably meant to say that it "wouldn't be", right? :-)

It's done.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Dave your the best! I have had our S2 sailboat forum guy looking at your site to design ours similarly. He says wow! Our program is different but pat on the back for your skills.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Have to try it now, lol.

Thanks Dave!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Dave, that is a really nifty trick, lol.

Would it be hard to put it in where "Watch" a thread too?

mg

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I just love you, Dave. Thanks so much.

MG, I see what you mean. When you click on "watch this thread", right?

You know, Dave, I really think you must know more about computers and websites than anyone after Bill Gates. How did you get to know so much?

I always said, DG is a Mgical world....think, wish and in the very next moment you will have.
Dave did a great job we really need this, It is not an age problem. I always forget also, where I was after replying a thread. But now this problem is solved.
Thank you Dave.

Kaleem

I added it to the Thread Watcher, too. This was an enhancement that was a long time coming.

Where did I learn all this? Well, it's just experience. Every day I work, I learn new things and get better at programming. I really started back in the late 80's and have continued through this day.

There are other web developers out there with the same or higher caliber than me...

dave

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

A Magical World indeed, Kaleem. Perhaps one day he will change the name to Dave's Magical Garden.

Dave, maybe so, but none of them would give me the time of day, let alone "grant my wishes." Only you.

Thank you again.

Proctorville, OH(Zone 5b)

I like it!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Alright then, you can take away my fun for now, but I'll be back when you least expect it.

Oh, Al. I'll be waiting....

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Too cute, Al! Love your sense of humor.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Al when I loaded your hyperlink It dumped a discussion on "is your birth control working?" It is good to see a man so concerned about the other sex. LOL

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Okay, I'm going to quit blocking for Dave. From now on, whenever anyone wants a new feature I'll be first in line to volunteer him to make it happen ;o)

NO!!!! Chuckling. :)

Typically I don't implement the feature until I see you post that it's a good idea, Terry.

dave

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Dave,

Terry thinks it's a good idea to have Saturday chat.

(Think that will work?)

Terry,

Dave thinks you think it is a good idea to have Saturday Chat. You think you can make him think you think that too?

(I think I broke my thinker)
