Heck, missed Gray's... forgot it was on!
Coffee and....For Sunday, February 19, 2006 =^..^=
Sheila, your pie looks scrumptious!
I made a Peach Cobbler yesterday, for company dinner. It was pretty good so I think I'll make another one tomorrow or Tuesday, to share here.
Hi There everyone,
In from Ottawa Symphony rehearsal. First FULL orchestra rehearsal for the concert which is a week from tomorrow. This one is in combinations with the Ottawa Youth Orchestra. We will both play the first half of the program which consists of Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio Espanole and Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien. The second half of the program, we play alone - Shostakovich, Symphony #1. OSO is a big band - about 90-95 musicians depending on how many winds and brass are required and I guess there are about 70 in the OYO; so it will be a super big band.
Earleir in the afternoon, the violists of the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra were here for a section rehearsal. That group has concerts next Saturday and Sunday, except I can't play the Sunday one due to OSO rehearsals. But it will be a busy week and there's more than a little bit which I need to practice. Oh and did I say that my handbells play in church next Sunday??? Two pieces. We will play Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, arr. Kevin McChesney - sound clip at:
http://www.handbellworld.com/Music/MusicPiece.cfm?piece=10397 and Be Thou My Vision for which I don't have a sound clip. I've made a MIDI file for my ringers using my notation program, but DG isn't set up to attach those.
So, as for your comments abaove and yesterday-
Susan - glad you're getting your exercises in. Keep at them and you'll, hopefully, be back using the shoulder in time. I'm with some of the others in regard to DD. If she doesn't pass that stone soon, I'd seek another opinion.
Elaine asked about DH. He's due to have his surgery on March 1. One of the bass players in the OSO is an ER physician at the same hospital and he says the urologist is good with his scalpel. So did the nurse who counselled us when we went for pre-op consultations, blood work and x-rays.
Elaine, I've seen those julienne cutters in catalogues and wondered how they worked.
Mary, so glad that you had a quieter night last night and hope the rest are quieter as well. Too bad about the plugged up drain, but glad that you got it working well.
MG - do you have a picture of your house in the summer? Winter pictures are sometimes so devoid of color that it's hard to know what to recommend about the color of your house. A different color for the shutters might be all you really need to do depending on how much color you have in your yard. Color is sometimes hard to judge from photos, but how would shutters and door work in a chocolatey brown instead of white? If you decide to change the house color, you might want to stay with a neutral tone or pick up some of your favourite gardening colors.
dmc - your power is back on isn't it? How about extended family and friends? I imagine your temps are similar to ours and if you don't have power, it would get pretty cold in a hurry. We still have ice EVERYWHERE. It's over an inch thick on part of my front step. DH has worried it off most of the driveway and other steps though. Plastic shovels work OK for snow, but they don't cut it when trying to get ice off the driveways. And WE have a south facing driveway on a slope. Pity those with north facing driveways that are flat, or worse, sloping away from the street.
Did I already say once that DH is obsessive about his bare pavement driveway? The other day he was worried about snow removal after he has his surgery. I said, "Just let it melt. It will in a week or two." That didn't go over very well. LOL
I know there are some whose messages I haven't commented on; sorry if I missed you. I need to get to bed. The cold is better, but threatens to return from time to time; so I'd better sign off.
Have a good night everyone.
Ann
darius, is there any peach cobbler left? Will you set it aside for me for breakfast, please. Sounds yummy.

Well I have been MIA again. Seems that this is getting to be my normal mode. Slept well, after I went to bed last night, er this morning. DGD didn't have any recurances of the upchucking, was a peaceful night. Went to church this morning, and was to have DGD home by 1:30. So went to early church, and home had pizza for lunch, washed her dirty clothes, and took her home. Her friend rode with me, so had some company on the way home. Got a little nap in this afternoon, DS was here to watch the Daytona 500, but I, along with Mr. B. went to the bedroom and rested. DH came in about 5:00 tonight, DMIL seems to be doing better today. Dr. gave her meds to increase her appetite, and she consumed the whole quart of potato soup I sent yesterday afternoon, plus the roast beef plate sent also. The fluid problem seems to be abating, and has had all the tubes except one removed. So hopefully, she is on an upturn. The Dr. advised that she needs to be up and walking, and that she needs to become self sufficient again. In other words, CHILDREN BACK OFF!!
DH and I went to the little Christian Church nearby tonight and was a good service. Came home, talked to sister, and continued planning our summer vacation. Then watched Desparate Housewives, and then logged on here. Took serveral minutes to catch up with what had gone on today.
Sorry, will not even attempt to address all the posts. Just too much, but I read all, and have enjoyed staying connected. Hello to Briar Rose. Glad you stopped in.
At church tonight had refreshments afterward, and didn't even want some normal food when we got home.
Well, with the holiday tomorrow, hopefully will stay abreast of all.
Still doing the fan thing, so how long does this last?
Thanks all for the inquiries about DMIL, and the prayers and thoughts. Hopefully, this will have a good outcome.
Good night all, and sleep the sleep of the innocent.
The daily is up at

Have a good night.

Well, good night all
Kelly
Good morning everyone. It's early, really early here. Instead of napping between trips to the barn to check on the sheep, I decided to stay up tonight and read. There was nothing happening in the sheep department. The 4 wheeler is running again. I can't decide if I got colder than when I walked to check them. I guess it's a tossup, quicker but with more of a breeze. However, I'll consider it a luxury and use it when I can.
The stars are so bright tonight that I took a couple of minutes to just stand and look at them. There was no noise at all and the quiet is something that surprises people who live in more populated areas. A couple of years ago I had a visitor who just wanted to stand still and listen to .......nothing........ something she can't hear where she lives with the constant humm of motors, traffic, planes, etc. She also enjoyed seeing the stars, there are so many lights where she lives that she never sees them. I was looking for the northern lights but they are not visable tonight, actually we are so far south we don't often see them here, but on cold winter nights we just might have them turned on like those shimmering sheer curtains in old movie theaters that came across the screen before the heavy velvet ones.
Near the neighbors' barn and haystacks there is this huge pile of baling wire that has been accumulating for 50 years or probably more. it must be 15-20 feet high and probably 12 ft at the base. Tons of it. I can't emagine how many tons of hay it held together. My neighbor is still adding to it. Birds roost inside and they peep at night. I park my pickup near it and every quiet night that is what I hear. Maybe I disturb their sleep parking there?
Speaking of birds, our great horned owls have been making lovie sounds lately. They mate early in the year, nest early and have fledglings ready to hunt in mid summer. I say "our" owls because they live here on our place and we watch the process every year. Here's a picture of fledgling owllet, his feathers were so soft they were blowing in the wind which made him look like he was shivering. Photo was taken in late June. Ah, summer, such a distant memory here in the midst of O temperatures. I know some of you have it colder than that. We are all wishing for summer, or at least spring so we can play outside comfortably.
There's an article in the paper about Jack LaLanne. Remember him, the original fitness guy? He is 90 and still going strong. His wife is almost 80. I can remember him from black and white tv and he was considered pretty wierd at that time but he's outlived a lot of those critics.
Dcat, I'm glad to hear some good news about your MIL. She has been having such a tough time for so long and your DH has been so good to spend so much time with her at the hospital.
Well now, it's time to check the sheep again and then I get to go back to bed.
Thank you, Mary, love reading your post,
Edited to say no space offered to post for today
