Good Morning all! Brrr, it is freezing in Mich right now. 19deg and falling. Windchills in the single figures and supposed to drop to -20de by tonight. Putting on the extra long underware today!! Our wood supply is running very low, so we'll have to crank on the furnace before this all is over. Drat....there goes the flower $$

Flow - this old computer wouldn't show me what you thought was so funny....darn.. Times like this makes me really want a newer model.

We had so much ice yesterday that all our pine and maple trees are hanging way down. Sure hope we don't lose any. Between the rotten tree trimmers and the ice, we'll only have twigs left!

DH made a comment about what a disaster my bedroom was- he is right, I don't even bother to make my bed anymore- just pull up the covers and DGS toys are scattered all over (it is his toy room too!) So todays project is to really straighten things up in there so you can see the floor. Will probably take me all do to do it! Tonight I have a tupperware party...oh glory...

Hello to everyone, can't seem to think straight to answer/comment.....maybe later..

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Cute!
We have -11.6º right now & dropping.
Here is our favorite cat. His name is Skunky. Because his tail curls up over his back like a skunk.

Good morning! Crazy weather here today. At 5:30 a.m. it was 53, supposed to hit 62 by noon, and by bedtime be about 28. It's raining and thundering right now. As much as I am looking forward to this flower show, not looking forward to the rainy drive.

Moving MIL tomorrow. That was supposed to happen last week, but the snow cancelled that one. Should prove to be an interesting day.

Susan - I hope your DD gets some relief soon, this has gone on too long. I have heard others mention that litho thing, has she considered that? Poor thing. Still keeping her in my prayers.

Defoe - Still keeping MIL in prayers. DH must be about worn out from all the stress and so much time at the hospital. You both deserve a nice restfull vacation.

Gotta get my hiney outa this chair. See ya all later. Will try to get some pictures from the show.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Bernie~love the Skunky!! I had a cat named Skunk years ago-black angora with white chin. He had such a fat tail. The name annoyed the heck out of my mother. I hope we avoid your weather!!

FC~cute video!

sarv~AAARGGH!!20 below?

9kitty~I hope DD gets some relief SOON. How's the cory kitten doing these days?

suzieq~ enjoy the flower show

Defoecat~I hope the tornadoes stay away. Good for you not having to go anywhere today. Maybe you'll get a little R&R, and it will be a great day to NOT be driving!Wow, braces, I had mine 38 years ago. They had their painful moments! Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Mary~I hope for the lambs' sakes you're not getting the crazy rollercoaster weather.

Hi everyone else for now****waving*****

We have 36 degrees and pouring away. I should get mulch on the exposed daylilies and perennials. will probably have to use a haybale, and then will have weed seeds, but nothing else handy right now. this is problem when there is no snowcover. that rarely happens here!! I'll have to doublecheck how cold it's supposed to get. I guess we also have a chance of thundersnow. Wonder what the old timers would think of these weather patterns?

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone,

Being lazy this morning but gotta go do something.

Haven't tested the weather, DH indicates the driveway is icy and through some salt on it. Supposed to get mild mid-day and then have a flash freeze. Oh Goodie. Should be wonderful for the last weekend of Winterlude to have ICE everywhere. Just looked out the window as a gust of wind came up and realize that everything is covered with a layer of ice - windows on the porch, all the trees,....

We cancelled bells last night because freezing rain was supposed to start just about the same time as we did. Need to get by the church and file some music, mark some new music and have a look at the music in the binders. Also need to go grocery shopping.

Tried to buy new version of WordPerfect Suite for the new computer; but they were sold out. Will call me when it comes in. Meanwhile, I borrowed it from the FC and did a provisionary installation. Also need to look on-line and order new version of my music notation program. Don't you love setting up new computers? Not having FC paperwork around here anymore (well not too much anyway), I'm trying to wade through the piles of paper that control my life and get them in order. Whatever happened to that paperless society?

Loved the pic of Skunky. Keep those pics coming. I'd still like another cat, but DH says NO!

Have a good day.

Ann

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Wow, the weather is amazing. It was pouring, then along came a deafening roar, then ice hammering all around. That quit, it got bright, then we were slammed with wind. now there's a whiteout blizzard. In five minutes we'll probably have a rainbow, some lightning and....locusts?

So weird!! A good day to stay in

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

hang on tight dm!! We have several without power here = not me thank goodness!! They have opened up many shelters etc. And with our weather turning bitterly cold too. They are saying some won't get power back on until Sun. ouch! I loaded the woodstove full and got it up to 72 deg inside - sauna!!

I'm still not dressed, but need to do so soon. I just took cuttings of kalanchoe. Mine were leggy, but blooming their fool heads off. I'll have some nice pots of it by summer.

Also tossed out some verbena that was infested with aphids. I tried to wash them off several times, but nothing seemed to work. Last year I spritzed them with soapy water and that killed them!! Oh well, I'll have to buy them this spring. Can't win them all.

The sun is out here and I may take a wander out to see what's happening in the greenhouse

Take care everyone!

Morning everyone
Well, I really hate to talk about weather ... but it's already 66 here. If I could, I'd sure send y'all some warm temps. I can't believe you're having those horrid temps.

Sarv, the first time I had to go to MI for my first guide dog I went for the Dec/Jan class. I will never do that again. I thought I would freeze my hiney off! When you take a GA gal and put her in MI that time of year ... you might as well take a fish out of water. LOL
I hope you don't lose any of your pine and maple trees.

Flower, wanted to just get up and dance to your link. The music was great. :)
Suzie, do be careful on that drive to the flower show. Bring back lots of pics, but y'all stay safe! So sorry the weather is going to be so cruddy for your MIL's move.

Defoe, what's the latest on your MIL's condition today? I do hope your DH will be able to get some rest soon. That going back and forth to the hospital can sure wear a body out. Maybe some of the family will help out so he can get a much needed rest. Please know you are all in my prayers.

Susan, am hoping and praying your DD gets some relief soon, also. Keep us updated. I know Monday is going to seem like a long time coming for her. I sure hope she doesn't have another bad week-end.

Well, if the weather holds I'm going to putter around outside a bit. I have a couple of containers I think I'll wash and get prepared for new plants. ... And there's that ever present laundry monster to contend with. I need to dream up something for supper. I have just about cooked out.
Hi to Ann, DMC and Sarv again as I see you have all posted again while I've tried to write this. Have had several interruptions. :-( Will go ahead and post so I don't lose things. To those I might have missed ... please forgive me. It wasn't intentional. sometimes it's just hard to keep up.
Hugs ... Elaine

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

dmc, you're weather sounds very similar to what we have in ottawa although the snow is just snow, not white-out. But very blustery. I AM going to go out, but the weather doesn't encourage doing it quickly.

Ann

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Hi all,

I'm supposed to be working now, so can't stay on here too long. Our weather is pretty weird too. It started out mild but cloudy this morning, then moved on to rain that was blasting down and wind that was rattling the whole building. Now the sun is out, but the temperature has been dropping as predicted and it should be very cold by tonight.

I just called home a few minutes ago to see whether or not I still have a greenhouse. DH checked and said that the door had blown off. Sarv, I told him your suggestion for keeping the door shut, but Oh NO, he had to do it a "better way" --- with clamps. Well, we've seen how much "better" THAT was! (Can you spell "Stubborn"? I shouldn't complain too much as we're pretty evenly matched in that department!)

Happy belated birthday, MG. I never got to post yesterday so I'm late with the birthday wishes, as usual.

Hope everyone's day gets better as it goes on --- especially for all those who are ailing.

I'll be back later if I get the chance.

Hi All,
Just a quick check in during lunch.

sarv,
Nioxin is a great product,,,,a little expensive but you only have to use a little so it lasts pretty long. It’s worth it for the help it gives.

dmc,
does your stylist have any books to look through for a few ideas? If not ask her to recommend something,,,you don’t have to go with it,,,but sometimes even a slight change is all that’s needed. Believe me,,,you’re not the only unstylish person there is,,,there are plenty,,,LOL

dcat,
Mother’s can be wonderful can’t they,,,,LOL,,,,some mothers have no qualms about telling you just what *they* think. Hi-liting does help to blend in the gray.

Well, sorry to be so brief and only take time to answer from yesterday,,,but have to get back into the Salon. My Mom is coming up today so will be cleaning this house this afternoon. She stays with Gran, but I’m sure she’ll be down here tomorrow morning with Gran for her usual Sat. morning appointment.

Will prolly need a break and check in later.
Have a good day and Hello to All.

Kelly

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again everyone. Our weather is not nice, especially for having little lambs being born in it. I checked the flock twice last night, it was kind of a wild night although mostly when Paul, the owner, was there. He went out about 9pm and found 3 ewes with 3 lambs in a corner, couldn't tell which lamb belonged to which ewe, brought them all to the barn and got it sorted out. One ewe hadn't lambed yet, she was just so close that she was very interested. We call that kind grannies, they can either be a PITA or a lot of help. This one had a stuck lamb, it got straightened out and delivered and she had another one soon after. Another ewe was white faced and so was one of the lambs, so he put them together, and the 3rd ewe got the other 2 lambs which looked more like her coloring. When I got there everybody seemed happy with what they had in the pens with them. Another ewe came in with triplets, so one of those lambs got grafted (we hope it works) to a ewe who had lost both of hers. We'll know about that match in a few days. Last night she was doing a lot of stomping whenever her new baby tired to nurse.

There were no new lambs in the field on my first check, but there was plenty of barn work to be done so I kept busy for over an hour then went out to the pasture to check the flock. Nothing new except that the 4wheeler and lambmobile were out there and the 4wheeler wouldn't start. Again. So I had a nice walk without having to carry any newborns.

Came home, slept for an hour or so and then went back. This trip there was a ewe with twins and thankfully they were so new they were not chilled. I got the 4wheeler going and took them to the barn. There was a granny in the corral that seemed to be in the early stages of labor but still not laying down, however, she has some mucous and had picked out a sheltered corner so I left her alone. We needed to free up some of the pens so I bedded some of the small pens we call jugs (don't know why) in another part of the barn, moved all the ewes that had single lambs to them, cleaned a couple more pens, put down clean straw and came home. We are checking them at 2 hour intervals, so far have not had any losses to exposure, just one lamb who didn't figure out where his lunch was, he got tube fed twice and died anyhow, and his clumsy mother laid on his twin. She is the one we are trying to graft the triplet onto. If it doesn't work the lamb will be sold to a neighbor as a bummer (bottle baby).

Here are a few pictures I took yesterday. This little guy is just minutes old.

Thumbnail by MaryE
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

A set of twins in a nice soft bed. The pens they go into first are about 4x7 feet, large enough so that if the ewe is going to deliver another lamb there is room for her to lay down without the first one getting squished, well, usually, but some accidents do happen.

Thumbnail by MaryE
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

This set had just arrived in the barn. Both were born in the field. The one closest to the ewe is still covered with lamb goo, which sometimes is quite a dark yellowish brown and more often almost clear. Navels were iodined immediately and they were laid on the straw in a clean pen, momma will do the rest. The oldest one was already standing up in the field when she delivered the other one. 10 minutes later they were in the barn.

Mary,
That's wonderful,,,,thanks for posting the pics. Those little ones are so cute.

Kelly going into the Salon Now,,,lol

Oh Mary, how exciting! Can't wait to share your pics with the DH. I always sit here euing and aahing (don't know how y'all spell that LOL) over your posts. Please stay warm and take care of those sweet little babies. *smile*
Waving at everyone else as I leave.

Great pictures Mary! I was thinking about you helping with the lambing yesterday when I read the morning paper. There was a story about a pair of twin girls and their 4H goats that had their kids 3 hours apart on Sunday. One had quads and the other one had quints. All are doing good. The girls' dad had the funniest quote in the story. He said, "We went to bed Saturday night and we owned 2 goats, now we have 11. It has to be the water out here!" I guess the twin girls were hoping each of the goats might have twins too. Maybe they wished it a few too many times?

Y'all are not going to get any sympathy out of me for the weather, lol. I warned you it was heading your way.

McCool, thank you! You all have been so sweet.

FC, that link is hysterical!! I poked around and found the Guinea Pig one too, did you see it? http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/guineapig
Had me rolling all over!

Ack! Is it 1:25?? I have a dentist appt at 2!!!!!!

Bye bye!

Afernoon = didn't get dressed until after lunch today = man am I getting bad!! Some day I may just stay in my jammies all day long - saves on laundry LOL

Mary, those lambs are adorable, but you have to get up every hour round the clock to check on them?? Sheesh= now that sounds like work to me AND in the cold!! If I understand, they aren't even your lambs are they? You are a good trooper to help out so much!

It's 20 deg here right now but heading down for a very cold night. I've kept the woodstove on overdrive, so I've been very comfortable.

Put a bean soup in the crock for tonights dinner - I expect DS and DGS to stop over as DIL went to Chicago for a three day shopping spree. We love to see them, so that's no problem to put out a couple more bowls. I should make some brownies so we can have brownies, ice cream, and hot fudge for dessert.

GG -I've been faithfully using the nioxin products. You sure I'm not being snookered?? I had the rinse stuff fall over in the shower and I found it a day later- half gone. Air was blue for a while here!

McC yikes door blown off!! Usually when I leave the door open, the side panels go airborne! The bolt really does work well, but I totally understand the 'stubborn' thing. I suffer from it often..

Bernie- cute cat! I could easily have a dozen of them. Ours now is 'one eyed' and has gray- black long hair (and rather ugly) but has a wonderful disposition. When I came to the computer, I sat down and sat right on her!! She blends in with the chair and I wasn't looking to see if she was there. Good thing I didn't really sit hard= I'd have squished her royally!

Time to check my seeds again (I check them hourly I swear!)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Been MIA again today. In the middle of fixing supper, so will come back after, and comment on all.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Well why not ? Of course I don't have a question to put with it. So much of the time the question is 'why', why didn't you post, why hasn't the letter arrived, why do you spend so much time on DG ? Well why not ? I've spent much of the past couple weeks in the shop carving, why not. Then there are the night classes making tiles for what might become a garden fountain. Can't forget the neighbors great help in hauling the 5ft. X 16ft. heavy stock fence panels home and helping carry them to the side of the house where they could be cut into proper sizes with the bolt cutter.Imari and Tinkerbelle still have to have their meds daily for another few days to get all those bad bugs out of their systems. A bit of cold weather gardening, very little bit, needed to be done for the monthly yard waste pickup monday. Why not do some of those fussy little jobs that never seem to get done? DW and friends went to the NW Flower and Garden Show, but I stayed home to attend three functions; a pancake breakfast, a garden club meeting and lecture and an artists gallery opening. I made it to the pancakes, but later that evening realized I had forgotten the last two events. Well why not write these things down somewhere you can remember to look at them. That might be a good use of a calendar. Somewhere in there it seem a trip to the Nursery was necessary, then several trips to the grocery stores, down to the Co-op, then to the lumberyard a couple times, repair a lamp, harass Brother about their hokey 'help' feature that won't tell me how to fix the printer, did I mention the crossword puzzles ? We have a huge Ginkgo biloba in the back. I've heard that a tea made from the leaves is supposed to improve your memory. Do you think it would help if I chewed on a branch or two? Well why not ? A nap or two during the day is becoming a habit, they may have something to do with not getting enough done. One must also consider the fact that this thread is filled to the hilt with post after post of news and events, joys and sorrows, and is something that one must slowly savour rather than merely skim through, and that takes a lot of time. But alas, much of the content is such that I, as a mere male, have little if any experience in. Huff and Puff I can attest to, after many months of post by-pass reconditioning, but hair coloring, housing the 'upper ladies' and such are beyond my comprehension. ( though it would be nice to have enough hair to color) The closest I've come to lambing is a lamb chop, though I enjoy reading about it and the farm activities a lot. So, ladies of the coffee klatch, and my fellows Ernie and Oz, forgive me if I don't respond as often as in the past. It would seem the weather, old age and perhaps mental incontinence has heaped a bunch of blahs on my plate, which I would put in the dishwasher if I could figure out how to open the door. Lots of love and good wishes to all you wonderful friends. Just call me 'I-lurk-alot'.

Bal, You are TOO funny!

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Sir-lurkalot, I enjoyed your post!! i've had a bottle of Gingko Biloba for a couple years, but as we all know, have forgotten to take it but twice.

Elaine~I hope you did putter and enjoy outdoors!

We lost power at 10 am and just got it back. I had stoked up the stove but with the wind howling and down to 19 it was getting a little nippy and i wasn't looking forward to hanging out in the dark, feeding the woodstove.

I was thankful to put on nice hot water to do dishes by the nice bright light. it only took a few hours of "old fashioned"for it to get old!!

the weather seems to have settled on just plain cold.

Mary~the lambs are adorable, what a lot of work! I hope the weather gets better for you. I never went outside at all today! Can't imagine slugging out there that often, although I suppose the births of the little critters provides some motivation.

It's so nice to have POWER.....and heat of course

Hi all, just checking in quick before bed. Show was very nice. Here's one picture. I have more in the NE gardening forum under the NJ Garden show thread. I don't know how to do a link, or i would.

Probably won't get in here tomorrow either. We're leaving early to start moving MIL.

Whoooooo colder than a witch's..... oops.... can't say that here, but it's plenty cold and windy. Supposed to hit zero this weekend. Some guy is coming from lower Michigan to pick up a car that DH had arranged to sell for a friend, wonder if he'll make that drive pulling a car hauler in high winds...oh well, not my problem!

Went to DD;s this morning and she did my roots, and we gabbed and then went to Penney's Warehouse and shopped for not much and then went to Baker's Square and ate........you guessed it, PIE. Prefaced by a burger and fries. Came home and found DH clearing the ice chunks off the driveway, and then we went to see the new Pink Panther movie which was pretty much like the old PP movies, but silly fun. We're stuffed with popcorn so no dinner is forthcoming.

Nice to see you back Bal, February can't possibly be the shortest month, it seems to last forever. I can't remember to take pills either, so I take the ones I'm required along with the ones I feel are useful all at once. They ought to know where they are going, let them figure it out. Friend of mine who has a very shiny dome has said that other guys can use their hormones for growing hair, he prefers to use his elsewhere. Hmmmmmm

Sammi's newest interest is shoes. Especially shoes with laces, he fights them ferociously, sometimes puts his front paws in them and chases around the room pushing the shoe in front of him. Kind of like a snowboard for cats. It's just amazing to watch him grow..I think he's going to be a big fella, with those big feet of his...

LOL Sarv, I've almost sat on my cats more times than I can count. They think every chair is theirs, and if it has pillows or an afghan, even more so.

MG, did you make it to the dentist on time? I'm always pushing the clock, and usually fly in at the last minute. Those are always the days when there's a traffic jam or construction...but I haven't learned to leave early in 3 score and ten, so I'll probably continue that way.

Hope your greenhouse hasn't become a kite, McCool....these high winds can really move large objects. Last year our metal glass topped table blew from one side of the deck to the other, stopping at the railing with the glass top pressed against it. Didn't break. Two chair, plastic, went sailing, never to be seen again. I think they are over near GG or maybe MaryE.

FC, the link was very funny, I forwarded it to quite a few warped people on my mailing list. It will be appreciated.

Mary, you are so busy with all those little lambs arriving. I love lamb, especially with rosemary and garlic.....I try very hard not to think about how those chops land on my plate, so as not to lose my appetite. Rural kids learn early on that calves, chickens and lambs often join them for dinner later in life.

Elaine, even those of us who live here in the frozen wasteland don't want to be here in January and February! I still like the change of seasons, I just wish the cold one didn't last so long. At least we can enjoy your warm temps vicariously, like we enjoy Molly and Darius's gardening ...

Someone asked why I can't do Curves....unless they do all their exercises sitting down, I wouldn't be able to participate. My left knee is rather touchy, doesn't always want to support my weight, and both ankles are painful if I'm on my feet for a long time.

Sarv, what kind of new pans did you get? I'm not missing my teflon at all.

Time to hit the couch...provide a resting spot for two or three cats so they don't feel neglected because I've been running around all day...Waving Byebye and good night, as I head for my jammies and slippers. Too early you say? No, not at all. Saves time when I'm ready to fall into bed.

I hope I speeled evrythin rite becaus I'm to lazy to pre vooo. LOL

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hi again. It was a long day at the barn and had more than it's share of losses for one reason or another. One ewe who seemed maybe to be in light labor all of last night but never looked like she was getting serious needed help delivering, her lamb was dead and she might not make it. Another lamb that I brought in this afternoon died about 2 hours later, and another clumsy ewe layed on her lamb. That's the heartbreaking part of farming. On the plus side of things we have some healthy happy little babies. Some of them get to go outside tomorrow to a sheltered corral or pasture. I'm not sure which, it depends on the wind direction which location is most sheltered.

Elaine, I wish you could see the lambs. I guess if you come up to Oregon you can feel them, hug them and enjoy them that way. Their ears are very thick from inside to outside and very fuzzy and soft. Another funny thing about them is that they are born with lots of extra skin, it gets filled out quickly because they grow so fast, but I say they have wrinkly pajamas that are about 2 sizes too big. Their legs are hair covered, lots of short hair but it makes them look kind of heavy legged for a while. Oh, and they have the cutest little feet, cloven feet like deer feet in 2 parts.

No, Meezer, your chairs didn't come to me. Maybe somebody in New York got them. Or maybe they have a second life as deck chairs on a luxury cruise liner. Sammi and the shoes, oh fun! What has more fun than a kitten?

Robert, aka Sir Lurks-A-Lot, it's good to see you back here. Don't stay away so long, we missed you. You've been a busy man, how about some pictures of your projects. What happened to the dogs to make them sick?

AmandaPanda is back in fast forward and you'd sure never know it was major surgery 2 days ago. She slept on the bed last evening until I got up to do the first barn check.

Hello to everybody I missed, ~ ~ ~ ~ waving.

Time for bed now, have to check sheep at 11pm, Pacific Time, and 1am. It's colder tonight and still windy.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well catching up won't be as hard tonight as some. The weathe it seems is the big topic all across the country. The wind really blew last night, I wondered several times if we would have a roof come morning. Then the rain came, in sheets for a brief period, then it calmed down, and just turned colder during the day.

Sarv, Hope your trees don't break during the ice storm. I got my disaster areas cleaned and straightened today, plus slayed the laundry monster. I hated to hear you pitched the verbena, but better than to infect everything, and then have to fight the aphids or toss everything.

Country G, Hi, cute kitty pic.

Susieq, hope the flower show is good, and the driving not too bad.

dmc, How is DD? I laughed about the lightening and locust, maybe thinking plagues? Sorry about your loss of power. I am not a Back to basics person myself. Love my heat and lights, and of course the puter.

Vann, Sorry about your bad weather too. Icy conditions, please be careful out there. These old bones don't enjoy being joseled like they used to!!

101, DH is not doing the hospital duty alone . There are about 5 of them, and they split it up, but staying a day and night at a time is very tiring. DH has been home since Thursday noon, and will go back tomorrow.

McCool, sorry about the greenhouse door. Sounds like our weather was similar.

GG Hi! Yeah, mothers do not have any tact. That is an unwritten rule!!

Mary, so how many lambs do you have now? I so love hearing about them.

mg, that wasn't an event, that was a goat population explosion.

Sarv, I have threatened to stay in gown and robe all day, but it has never happened. That bean soup sounds wonderful.

Bal, why not? Sounds like whether you admit it or not, that you have been busy. Naps are important and need to be done on a regular basis, so you won't get out of practice. You don't have to contribute to the conversations, just pop in and say howdy once in awhile. We haven't heard from Ernie for awhile either, maybe someone needs to kick him awake.

Maria Hi! Have been missing you, what's going on?

Meezer, sitting on cats, that is so funny!! Your outing sounds like fun. Our neighborhood ladies need to schedule another outing real soon. We go out to lunch about once a month, and just catch up on what's been going on.

Molly and Darius, Been watching your thread, so understand if posting here right now is now your top priority. Looking forward to the time you can re join the group full time.

Well to catch you up of DMIL, they did a cat scan, and a lung biopsy on Thursday. Haven't gotten the results, but the proposed to pump an antibiotic solution into her lungs to sort of wash them out, and if there are germs or viruses etc lurking, hopefully to get rid of them. Personally, I think that they don't have a clue what is causing this, and they are now resorting to "last ditch" efforts and solutions. Just being a "guinea pig" of sorts. I really don't know how much more this lady can endure. DH plans on talking with the Dr tomorrow, and asking him to give him his assessment of her situation and seeing if he has any hope that this will turn around. If not, he is going to propose that they keep her comfortable, and cut out the experiments and see where that goes.

I got to stay home all day today. I cleaned the house and got the laundry all caught up. This will be a short lived situation, since DGD arrived this afternoon, and she tends to change outfits about 4 times a day. The only thing I have left to do is to clean the kitchen floor. It is Pergo, and have to damp mop, with a special cleaner, and suppertime arrived before I got that done. My cousin and his wife stopped in about noon, and I am thinking, I sure am glad that they didn't come any earlier, they would have found a different looking house!!

Well, I do have a few errands to do tomorrow, plus tomorrow afternoon, DS, girlfriend, DGD and I will make the drive to the hospital to see DMIL. I haven't been to see her for about a week.

The weather people here are predicting snow beginning tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully they will not destroy their track record and be right this time!!

Well, I am off to check other forums, and then off to bed.
Everyone, have a good restful night.

Hi lurk-alot - nice to hear from you - it's been awhile.

Hi everyone else too.

Wild weather seems to have calmed down a bit. News tonight of three major pile-ups on highways because of white-out conditions. 30 car-pile-ups both east and west of Ottawa, one with 4 fatalities. And a 60 car pile-up east of Montreal. Wasn't too bad in the city, though a major traffic light was out as I made my way over to my church. Spent a couple of hours getting all the bell music that's been piling up properly filed away again and got all the bell binders set up with music for the rest of the season. Did some grocery shopping. spent the evening practicing orchestra music and watching the Olympics. Not overly exciting except Canada placed 1,2 in men's Skeleton and 2 in Women's.

Time for bed. Hope you all sleep well.

Good night Everyone!

I'm heading for my down comforter, I'm not turning down the furnace tonight. I have it set at 70* but it is struggling to keep the actual temp above 62*. Even with the plastic on all of the windows it is just too cold outside. Here are the current readings:

-8 °F / -22 °C
Mostly Cloudy
Windchill: -29 °F / -34 °C
Wind: 15 mph / 24 km/h from the NW

Good thing I have 2 dogs and a cat keeping me toasty, lol. Jenna's cat is glued to her too. Poor Nathan, no company for him.

Well, here I am at the end of the day again. I feel like I finally get here and everyone is gone. :(

I suppose I should get up early, but I'm not chatty early anyway. LOL

DD still hasn't passed the stone. She went to the Dr. and he didn't do anything else. Said if it hadn't passed by Tuesday to come back. grrrr
Gave her a different pain med though that she said doesn't make her sick and does help with the pain. Is taking her herbal treatments so we are hoping and hoping.

I'm so sorry about the lambs that didn't make it. That's the part I couldn't take. I want everything to make it and be healthy. I don't think I could be a farm person. DH was raised that way but I'm a city girl, sheltered you know. LOL

Somebody asked about Cory kitten, too lazy to page back up and see. He is doing really well, as lively as ever and soooooooo cute. I sure wish I could get a picture of him but he is just too quick for me. DG finally helped me get water back into the aquariums, they were getting really low. They really needed an exchange of water, but I decided that just getting the water back in them would do for awhile. I can't of course lift the buckets but DH did it and got r done.

Then DH did his grinding up of all the left over bread that we save each week. He then stores the ground up crumbs in the freezer and treats the birds everyday. They really like it. We have a freezer full of left over bread and buns. But at least it is not wasted.

We are having nasty weather, but I'm not complainin'. If it does anything at all it is moisture. Yeah!! It has been sleeting and now snowing, we MIGHT get 1 to 2 inches. I hope so.

It's way too cold though. My quince has budded out and starting to bloom, so if we get in single digits I imagine those won't survive. The daffodills are all budded out and probably won't make it either. Nothing I can do about it.

Washing out your lungs with antibiotic solution does not sound pleasant. Bless her heart, sounds like they are torturing her. It makes me so sad to hear about her. I pray for her everyday.

Well, I will go do the daily and be back again tomorrow night instead of in the morning for my 'coffee and'...
