Planned downtime tomorrow (2/15/06) at 6:15am

Dave's Garden is planned to be offline tomorrow morning from 6:15am until about 6:30am.

That is, unless I oversleep. :)

Thanks for the heads up Dave!

Guess that means I better rise 'n shine a little earlier than usual if I want to get my DG fix before it's time to start waking up the other sleepyheads here. (Sleeping in isn't an option when morning carpool is part of the daily routine ;o)

Thanks Dave - I'll be at work

Well, we are back up, so what did you do today Dave?

Nosy people....

mg

I brought the MySQL server down and made a snapshot of the data, and then reset the master log file to zero. That was the part that needed the server to be offline.

Now I am replicating the data across the other servers, which doesn't affect the site.

Dave, I missed your post of "cst" and here I thought you overslept. I shoulda known better.

lol, so glad you share this easy stuff with us (that's all technical jargon, right?).

It sure is. :)

I'm finished with the work of the morning. Replication is now live and working perfectly. We now have 3 (count 'em) database servers online, all with instantly replicating data. It's a long story, why this is a very good thing. :)

I have absolutely no idea what you did, but that isn't unusual, lol.

I trust mighty leader.

I'm with MG but trust Dave to do what is necessary. DonnaS

Dave,

I think you might need to go kick the server. The gerbil seems to be falling asleep at his wheel.

Maybe he needs a new carrot? Or am I mixing my metaphors again?

;~)

Real-time replication - awesome! Are they set up for failover or for load distribution or both? --Ginny

I just setup replication this morning. :)

Load distribution is the long-term goal. For now, I really wanted to have the data copied across multiple machines for faster disaster recovery.
