Kelly: Maybe a hairdresser needs to be like a contractor and seal everyone to a contract. Even at that you have trouble getting some to pay up for no other reason than they just drag their heels. My son has a customer right now wants him to do a couple more jobs for him but still owes him $4,000.00 from the last job. The guy is not broke he employs over 300 people.
Morning everyone - just had cheeseburger pie for breakfast (leftovers) I think it was even better this morning!!
DH told me last night that he had an idea for Valentines Day. We are going to get him a chain saw sharpener and me a new set of pots and pans, then a bucket of Colonel Sanders Chicken - oh isn't he a romantic!! LOL I don't want roses or candy - practical is my middle name!! ( of course he wants to get his sharpener first...hmmm)
For everyone working with the public - it is stressful!! Been there - done that. You cant please everyone, just do your best and move on. That's why retirement is so great!!
They are saying we are in for a nasty one on Thursday. I am beginnng to put little faith in their weather reporting tho.
Still watching the olympics in the evening...gosh I enjoy them.. Trying to decide whether to go to the huff/puff today. No one will be there because of school parties going on...hmmm decisions, decisions...
Good morning,
sarv - GO to Huff & Puff. You'll feel better later.
I'm going to try aquafit today. Hope I don't cough through it. But I slept all through the night once I got to sleep.
Be back later. Hope you all have a good day.
Ann
Oh it's quiet here this morning.
Kelly~ I would probably be your nightmare hair customer. My gray is now down to my ears and my hair is way below my shoulders. I was supposed to go every six weeks but it takes forever in the chair. I do pay and tip really well, but I wish I could just have someone do my hair while I'm asleep or something....or maybe if someone else were changing the oil in the car, a housecleaner was cleaning my house and someone was doing liposuction on my belly all at the same time....So I guess I should look into a wash-out kind of tint?
VAnn~my cold has been hanging on, I keep thinking I'm better and then have another "fit". I get through most of the day fine. You probably just need to go with the coughing at this point, to clear your lungs and bronchial tubes. Wishing you speedy relief and immunity for the rest of the cold season!!
defoecat~Happy Valentine's Day partying with your DGD. Sounds like fun to me.
Oops I need to get ready for my weekly jumping lesson...oh boy.
Happy Vaelntine's Day all!! Check back later
once again I posted but this time DG ended it with "not available" now it is back again, this too much, if it is not one thing it's another
dmc, just brraid your hair or twist it up, that is what I do with mine, besides have lost loads of hair due to stress, if I were to cut it I'd look bald, lol which I probably will be any way, whigs, here I come lol, do not ever use any color on my gray hair, I like it that way besides why should I put some chemicals to be absorbed by my skin? have too much medicines to take as it is.
Sarv How can you eat that for breakfast? I can'd digest it just reading it, LOL
Ann, don't you just think Sarv's exprtession 'HUFF and PUFF' is perfect?
It is a perfect winterday , sunny is blinding in the snow, I have too wear sunglasses, but wish it would be like that till spring is this not a great dream ? lol
now I have to finish work I did not do yesterday, am a terrible procrastinetor when it comes to work I do not want to do but I must!
Morning all! Having been showered with roses, candy, cards and a huge teddy bear (who will ultimately go to cancer patients at the Children's hospital) I can now attend to my computer messages! Best that the Teddy doesn't stay here, Sammi is attacking him with a vengance....
Had a nice long chat with my sis this morning, using up my calling card minutes before we switch our service over to digital through the cable co. I have five hours to use up....! Probably won't use them all but keep some for travel.
I set the timer so as to limit my time in this chair, there's the laundry monster to deal with, bills to pay and a few other things to attend to today!
I'm guessing all you snow bunnies are dug out by now...we are supposed to get some here later in the week if you believe the forecasters, which I don't. It's plenty cold though.
Dmcd, and GG, I'm dealing with a grow out too. I've been using a Loreal kit that comes with highlighting and what I'd like to do is just lighten the dark hair instead and let the gray or whatever that other stuff is be the highlights since there's plenty of it. GG, tell us what's good in over the counter for that? Will Nice and Easy lighten the darker hair at all? Would that work? I know this do it yourself stuff isn't the best way to approach it, but any decent salon around here charges about $75 plus tip for doing it and that just makes me choke...Any suggestions? Will it affect the hair I've already colored/lightened? Helpppppp!! How far away are you???? LOL
My friend and I were discussing having a spa day when we went to pick up her kitty on Sunday, so tempting to just let someone else pamper you with a facial, a manicure etc. Probably won't happen but it was nice to think about it.
Joy and McCool, loved your kitty pics. They look so dignified posing nicely to have their picture taken. Ours all seem to be in motion lately with Sammi chasing and leaping around, and Mini and Souky escaping.
Elaine, I hope your headache went away so that you could enjoy your dinner out. Since I got so many nice Valentine goodies from DH I'm thinking steak and baked potato tonight for dinner, and maybe some fresh strawberries in my little fondue pot for dessert.
Sarv, sounded like your usual unusual breakfast! When I was in high school I often raided the 'frig for dinner leftovers in the morning. Never got into the cold cereal thing, but cold spaghetti....fine! I still don't much care for cereal but on hot summer days it's ok. I'd make sure I got those pots and pans at the same time as the chain saw sharpener! I like my new stainless, and the teflon is history. Bought some SOS pads too, for clean ups. I cut them in half, and after I use one and it's still good, I put it in a baggie and toss it in the freezer so it doesn't get rusty. Just call me Cheap.
MG, you did a beautiful groom on that dog. That customer doesn't deserve to have a dog like that, but too often that's the case. Some dogs need to be brushed frequently, and it's just not that big a chore for the owner but careless owners create their own problems.
I laughed at Jenna's nozzle comment! Aren't they funny at that age!!
Dcat, glad this hospital visit was a short one for your MIL. That's a good sign. I'm sure she's pretty well fed up with hospital visits at this point too. I hope this will be the last trip in for her and she will continue to recover well.
Waving vigorously to everyone, as my timer just went dingding and I need to get moving....There's some chunky chocolate brownies on the counter, so take some before I decide to have them for breakfast.....
Check in later, have a sunny day....
sheila

Happy Valentine's Day to ALL my coffee friends!
Happy Valentines Day Darius and everyone else on DG! Hope you all have a great day!
Will try to get back here at lunch.
Good morning. I didn't get to post at all yesterday but I did read it all, in about 3 sessions. Life gets kinda nutty sometimes.
Happy Valentines Day everybody! Ah yes, practical gifts, I'm for that. Of course I like to go out for a nice dinner too, that is practical in my mind, no cooking, no clean up. I got a card this morning, a funny one. It has a drawing of a lady just sitting by some flowers and says, "When you've been married as long as we have, you learn to accept the other person's faults" then the inside says "you'll understand this if I ever develop some". I got a good laugh first thing this morning.
Sarv, if you go to the huff and puff today you will feel better for not having wimped out because friends won't be there, and who knows, somebody else may be there without a friend. Just go.
VAnn, I think going to the Aquafit is a good idea for you too, just take it easy. It's often hard to get motivated when we're not feeling 100% like ourselves, but I know from experience that I always feel better after some exercise.
Dcat, I'm glad to hear that your MIL is out of the hospital. She sure has had a rough time with these post op troubles, I hope she does well from here on and is able to be in her own home again soon.
Susan, how's your daughter? And how are you?
Yesterday I went riding again for about 2 hours. The sky was looking scowly off to the north when I left and by the time I got home some small snowflakes were falling. The wind wasn't blowing much so it didn't feel that cold. The ground is getting less muddy in places so now the horse can trot through some of the parts where we had to walk before. Riding faster keeps me warmer and I did remember my gloves this time. Little things make a big difference!
Tomorrow I take the kitten in for spaying, she just seems so small for that but has had one heat cycle already. She will also get the booster vaccinations. I forgot to ask but I think she has to stay overnight, so I will be going in again on Thursday to get her. Therefore, no trip to town today which is my usual errand day to get discounts at a couple of stores. I also have an appointment with the chiropractor tomorrow. I think my pelvis is a bit crooked from a horse related incident 2 and a half years ago, my hip feels like it wants to pop out of joint or something, it is hard to describe. Most of the time it is ok but then I take a step just the wrong way and it feels like it won't hold me. The last horse wreck I had actually made it better, but I'm not wanting another of those random treatments, and also not wanting to put it off until I get into my endurance riding and gardening seasons. I know, I know, I shouldn't have waited this long.
Your stories of the PITA customers remind me of a friend who opened a business and said she had some horrible customers. One lady who was "dripping with jewelery" and driving an expensive car was one of the worst and even tried to talk her into selling her products under the table so she wouldn't have to pay the sales tax. Another was so obnoxious and threatening that my friend was calling 911 and another employee heard the commotion and told her to leave. All this over a few dollars worth of merchandise. Of course a small business can't meet Walmart or Lowe's prices, but these people seem to think they can and that it is unfair to ask a bit more money for good quality merchandise. And then there are the shoplifters who come in pairs and while one distracts the clerk the other is stealing. Why can't people just be nice? Anyhow, she said after the business closed that she would never work with the public again.
Our kitchen sink drain is slow again. It will need attention this weekend, hopefully not before then. I'll just ignore the water standing in the sink that takes a long time to go down and try not to use it much. Now there's a plan!! Yesterday it was making noises like something about to barf under the bed, you know the sound! I keep thinking the problem may be in the air vent pipe instead of the drain, but hubby says no.
Maria, you did get a lot of snow! Winter's last fling maybe? Samson enjoys it anyhow, and it is pretty to look at especially if you don't need to go anywhere. Did you need your generator during the storm?
Waving to everybody else, have a great day and remember to count your blessings.
No, Mary, I did not need the generator during the storm, I really think we would lose electricity, so many did with wind very high. I wanted to bake something but was told not to use oven, it needs too much electricity and Generator may not be able to handle all of my needs, everything else is OK to use.
My SIL said I did not need it to spite me, lol
Good Morning Gobs and 'Ettes!
Thank you for letting me vent yesterday. I didn't realize just how much that whole situation was bothering me until I let it spew out all over the keyboard. And thank you too for confirming that it is *ok* to put my foot down instead of in my mouth.
{{{Coffee and.... Friends!}}}
Happy Valentine's Day to Everyone!
mg
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, EVERYONE HERE!!!
Ah, M5, you got some nice Valentine's goodies today. How sweet! If that kitty likes the teddy bear, great toy for him then.
Sarv, go to your Huff and Puff. Exercise does a body good.
Elaine, hope you do feel better today so you can have a nice dinner with hubby. No fun with a hurting head for long. Hope you enjoy what is in the fragrant RR.
Dcat, am so glad that MIL is getting better. I was worried for a bit. Old folks keep us on our toes but we need a break every so often. Do something special for your DH. He sounds great to stay with his mom for so long thru all this.
MG, do vent here. That is why we are here. Sorry to hear all your grooming problems tho. Did like that before and after pic of the pooch tho. You did a great job. I just want to pet him. He looked so soft.
Mary, hope the kitty survives the operation but you will be happy when it is all over.
For all you guys back east, it sure sounds bad with all that snow. Yuck. Hope all is well with it.
We have actually have had sun for quite a few days now. But this morning it is raining and cold again. Oh well, it was nice for awhile and did enjoy it over the weekend.
I didn't get to post lately. I did read all tho.
I have been swamped with things here. Being getting taxes done, doing some scholarship paperwork for the up-coming dental student son (am trying to reduce his soon huge loan debt so want to find him some money if possible), still trying to deal with my son who had that neck injury with him not being able to wrestle in the state tournament this week, and getting packages out the door.
I did get to garden on Sunday tho. All day long. It was so so nice to be in the sunshine, digging in the soil. I got my sweet peas planted, a hardy gardenia in a pretty pot, a red/purple lilac tree that I propagated, a red lily, got a peony in the ground since it has been sitting in a pot for 6 months (it has some new shoots so should be ok), moved more compost to my retaining wall, and just finished cleaning up the flower beds.
I don't have a sweetie to spend the day with for Valentines Day today but that is ok. Maybe later in life. Am just too busy for dating anyways. Someday?
Have a good day, all.
Carol (DR)
Mary E there is a lot of that. I hate to say it but a lot of contractors do not really like to do jobs for the rich because a lot of them just hate to pay their bills. I do not believe it is really because they are rich in most cases. I think those that do that are really over extened from role playing. My son wants 50% up front. No matter what the cost of the project is.
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!
Thank you all for thinking about me. I do feel better today, and did manage to have a nice time last night when the DH took me out for supper. I *really* didn't want to mess up his plans as he wanted us to do it the day before so we wouldn't get hung up in the crowds tonight. Actually, I had such a wonderful surprise yesterday afternoon I'm sure it made my headache a lot better. I went to the mail box yesterday afternoon, and there was a package. I wasn't expecting anything as I haven't done any trades recently. I'm like a kid, though, so rushed in to see what it was. When I opened it ... there were wonderful cheese curds and a delicious summer sausage from M5 all the way from WI. She knows how I *love* cheese curds! LOL Thank you, again, Sheila.
Defoe, I was so relieved to hear that your MIL was able to leave the hospital. Maybe that's just what she needs in order to get back on track. Am hoping and praying she'll be able to return to her own home soon.
Sarv, did you make it to the huff and puff today? I will not give you any words of wisdom on that subject until I start doing better myself. *smile*
Ann, sounds like you're staying busy as ever. Don't know how you keep up with your schedule. Sounds like to me you're meeting yourself coming and going. LOL
Hi Darius ... was it cold enough for y'all down there? Brrrr ... was it *ever* cold here.
Hi Maria, so glad you didn't need that generator ... but glad you have it just in case. You stay warm, ya hear! LOL
MG, the public is terrible sometimes. I use to keep a little girl in my home. The Mom got paid every 2 weeks. The only problem was ... she never had any money to pay me. She always had a Dr. bill or something and wanted to pay me the following week. Then she'd get confused on the amount. She worked shift work, so I had her daughter at various times ... fed her, saw to it she studied and put her to bed. Decided it wasn't worth it. :)
Oh my ... the DH has just come in for lunch as a Valentine's Day surprise! LOL LOL
... Elaine
IO1, yes it was chilly! Got down to 17º last night, Brrrrrr.... However after tonight, we should be back above freezing for the next week at least. The technical last frost date here is the end of March but maybe it will be earlier this year. One can always hope!!
At my suggestion, Jeremy installed speakers in the eaves of the pump house where they will be hidden and protected by the soffits. I guess we have the only "musical" pump house in the county, maybe even in the state!
Oh gads, did I have funny thing happen to me. I got dressed for the huff/puff and a friend called. We talked for over an hour and I missed my huff/puff time, so I decided to stay home. I just got two pop tarts out of the toaster oven and the huff/puff place called (caller ID!!) I didn't answer, but the owner said 'Sue, where are you - two of your friends want you to come" I hopped in the car and went - we laughed and laughed when I got there. I bet it didn't take me 3 min to get there. My friends were just on their way out and I was the only one there, but the owner is a nice gal and she worked out with me - now I feel better! Thanks for giving me a boot in the fanny.
DIL called and asked if I would go to DGS Valentine party - oh crap....I hate those things!! DGS was in a funk because she (DIL) wasn't able to go (but could take 2.5 days off last week to goof off - go figure...) So I am going to surprise him and go - don't plan on staying for the whole time, but will make an appearance to make him smile!! Ahh the things you do ....DGS is a sweetie, so it will make him happy.
DR - good luck with getting $$ for your son. That paper work is the pits!
Mary - I like going to the chiro - but my insurance won't cover it anymore = rats....I like the warm towels they put on your back....ahhhhh
M5- man you struck the mother load with gifts!! How do you rate??? Nice of you to give the teddy away.
mg- vent all you want - that's what we are hear for!!
Hey - what's up with the unshaved look on men now a days.....I am watching Martha and there is a wonderful singer on there - I turned to see what he looked like and yuck - I don't find all that scruffy stuff appealing. Give me clean shaved!! (LOL DH has had a beard for 25 yrs!!) But he keeps it trimmed up nicely...
GG - I am very generous with my hair gal. I tip her way more than I should. However, I did start highlighting my own hair when I retired. Sometimes it turns out good and othertimes it doesn't - but hey - it grows out!! Speaking of which, is there an over the counter hair lightner that you think is good? She used to do my nails too, but that went too. I have nice natural nails, so it was no loss. I love to get my hair shampooed - I ohhh and ahhh - it feels soooo good. Loved having her do the nails too - felt good having someone massage my fingers. If I was closer, I'd come sit in your chair....
Noon - time to see what's left in the frig. Oh Maria, you know me by now - I never eat normal - cast iron stomach!! And a love of food....
DH is gone. He brought me a wonderful chicken salad wrap with broccoli salad and fresh fruit from a little home owned place here. Yum soooo good. Has anyone besides me noticed that we are still posting on yesterday's thread instead of the 14th? Just wondering. LOL
... Elaine
P.S.
Darius, I do so luv the musical pump house! Now you can have music when you're outside?
Happy Valentine's Day gang!!! I send you my best wishes for a FABULOUS day full of love for each of you!
I've enjoyed reading through all the posts from y'day and today. I'm not surprised at the number of posts on the subject of working with the public. I know EXACTLY what each of you are saying as I've worked in retail in years past and I've worked with the public who are ill and injured as I do now. Compound all the problems and add in PITA family members/neighbours on top of it all and you'll see why there is nurse burnout at such early ages. Oy vey! Between the problems of having to deal with people at their worst as they are feeling bad and/or in pain, having to deal with abusive, psychotic, drunken, drug addicted, homicidal, suicidal, depressed, hyperactive, sexual deviants, and any other issue a person may be struggling with, it's always a genuine PLEASURE to have just one person in your day say, "thank you, nurse or doctor." It doesn't happen often these days, but when it does it's the best feeling in the world. It keeps me going through the next dry spell of dealing with the above mentioned PITA's. LOL
Now, as to the hairdresser.....let me just say this. I'm as bonded to my stylist as I am to my doctor, the ophthalmologist, the dentist and pharmacist. I can't imagine going to anyone else or trusting anyone else like I do her. I believe there are people who come into your life for a reason. It may be for support, love, acceptance, guidance, and even lessons in how NOT to treat others. The stylist I go to, I go to on a very regular schedule. She has me come in every 5 weeks, she trims and colours, waxes my brows, and when she's done, she always braids my hair in some special way. She says she practices on me as there aren't too many women anymore who have long enough hair to braid, etc. I treat her as I would any friend, always bring her something, a card, a few flowers from my garden (during the season), a few hand-dipped chocolates, or something I've made. I would travel over broken glass to get to her. On my list of important things in my life, she's one of the top 10. I just let her do what she needs to do to keep me looking decent and I know she appreciates it. She tells me all the time, thank you for treating me like a professional. I can never complain about how she's treated me, ever. Even the few times she's been late for whatever reason, she's always made it up to me for waiting by giving me a hair product or brought me a latte or done something. I keep telling her it's unnecessary, but I know what she's doing. She and I have a special client/practitioner relationship and we do everything to keep that secure. I've been with this lady for 10 years now and I'm one of her most long-term customers. I started with her shortly after she opened her shop and I've stayed all these years.
Well, kiddos, it's time to slay the laundry monster. No matter how much I prefer to put this distasteful chore off, the monster just keeps prowling around my basket chiding me for not getting into full regalia and doing battle. So, it's off I go to do battle. Wish me luck. LOL
With care, ~Babs~
IO1, don't feel stupid. Just say you were having a *blonde moment*. That's what I do and I get away with it all the time.....LOL *hugs* to ya girl! ~Babs~
*heheheh* I was just about to post Happy VD, but decided to amend that to Happy V-day! Oy vey! LOL ~Babs~ I'll shut up now......

Babs, that is one gorgeous head of hair, and beautiful french braids. My stepmom used to french braid my hair, sometines from the nape up, and sometimes from the sides to the back, sometimes from the forehead back which raised my eyebrows a good inch ....I could use that one now!!!
I know what you mean about keeping those professionals in your life, I have had the same dental hygienist for over 20 years, (and four dentists!) and she is worth her weight in gold. From when she was a young single just out of dental school, to now, when both her kids are in college. Last year I gave her a small brooch cameo that I picked up in Florence in 1976, which she was thrilled about. Super nice person, love her dearly.
I'm treating myself to a massage today, at a cosmetology school that offers spa services, and such. Senior price plus $10 off, sounds wonderful! Haven't done that for a long time, and it's ugly gray and winter and it is just the ticket ....
For those who need a Sammi fix, here he is meeting the teddy bear, it will have to go soon before he massacres it. He ate breakfast three times today, it's no wonder he's growing so fast!
Oh my goodness....that is such beautiful hair!!! If I had your job, I'm sure I would have pulled it all out by now. LOL
I started out with dark brown hair, no red in it at all. When I started going gray it was an ugly gun metal gray that I hated.........so......I just made it all Ashe brown, then Ashe blond, then Light Ashe Blond. My roots were a combination of dark and ugly gray.
I don't know what was in the anesthesia, but the last time I had my hair done was in October before the operation in November, and when I FINALLY went to my blessed hairdresser to have it cut and colored, she said the roots had grown out and were now the same color of my hair. No more coloring, and I'm still Light Ashe Blond! So you see, everything has a silver...er Blond...lining. LOL
Thank you's and boxes of candy for the nurses, thank you's and good tips for the hairdresser......they are so important in my life.
Pati
Babs, that's one gorgeous strawberry blonde hank of hair! (mine used to be that color)
Ok, I'm on a break from the housework/laundry. Back a few days ago, I mentioned a little story about a talk show my Mum was watching/listening to on TV. M5 asked me to tell the story so if you're in for a chuckle, here goes.
My Mum is quite elderly, 95 now, will be 96 if she makes it to July 7th. She was watching a morning talk show on TV a while back, I think it was "The View" on in the mornings. I was at her home, had been staying with her for several days and nights caring for her as she was recuperating from a surgical procedure and having transfusions. Anyway, there was a guest on the show who was a female surgeon. Her specialty was gynecology and female complaints. This GYN/surgeon had opened the floor up to questions and answers and one lady in the audience asked the doctor if it was normal to have pain after relations with her husband. The doctor asked for a more precise explanation of the pain. So the lady gives her a few more details. The doctor gave her an answer, obviously not what the question asker was wanting to hear.....then asks the doctor, "Could my problem arise from the way my husband is built?" The doctor said no, it wasn't a question of her husbands build, it was more than likely the way he performed.
Now, you have to realize, my Mum was sitting in her recliner chair and said to me with the straightest face, "Well, lass, I suppose what the doctor is saying is this. It doesn't matter if you have an SUV or an economy model, it's how one manages to drive the lorrie that makes the difference."
OMGosh! I spurted my tea right out of my nose and burst out laughing. The scones went flying across the living room and my Mum, love her little heart says, "Well, don't ya think so dear?"
I don't know where she comes up with this stuff. But she's a character, you betcha. I don't know for sure if I just didn't know Mum always had such a good sense of humour, or did she really grow it after she turned 80?
Ok, break over, time to go switch loads and drag out the iron and board and get to pressing the uniforms.
Hugs to all, ~Babs~

P.S. If anyone is offended by this story I heartily send my apologies. It's not my intention to ever offend anyone's sensibilities. I'm only passing on what I think is a cute story. Also, if anyone is offended, I'll ask DG to remove the post. Thank you. ~Babs~
THE LAMBS ARE COMING! Just a few days early according to the farm records for when the rams were turned in with the ewes, but anyhow the sheep might be on their own schedule, at least this one ewe is. I got a call about an hour ago asking me to check them in a while since the owner has to go to Idaho today and has a meeting tonight. He said one ewe was looking suspiciously like she was in labor and while he had me on the phone he went outside to look at her with binocculars, yes, she had a water bag out and it broke while he was watching, so lambs will not be far behind. So, I suddenly have lamb duty. I'll let you know what she has and how many etc. It's a nice day, not windy, a good day to come into the world.
Babs, your hair is beautiful. You are blessed to have such a nice relationship with a good hairdresser. You treat each other professionally as it should be.
Meezer, I remember when a cat of ours met a big teddybear. He didn't trust it at all and was very hesitant to get close to it at all. My hubby added to the fun by tying a piece of fish line around the paw of the bear and waiting in the hallway where he could see Sneakers approaching it very cautiously. Just when the cat got really close he pulled the line and the arm moved! EYOW! The cat when up and backward several feet. Poor Sneakers! Eventually, after several days, he decided it was ok and I got a picture of him sleeping in the teddybear's lap. Hmmm, I should bring the bear upstairs for AmandaPanda.
Awww, Elaine, what a sweet thing for your hubby to bring you a special lunch today. I'm glad you are feeling better.
Darius, great idea to put the speakers on the pumphouse. That's getting to be a deluxe little building.
It's time to get ready to ride, I will combine a ride with a couple of looks at the ewes as I ride by. See ya.
Babs, how in the world do you think that story could offend any of us here at coffee. *smile* I only wish I could meet your Mum. She sounds like a remarkable person full of wit and wisdom.
Mary, do be careful out there. It must be *really* something to see new life brought into this world. I am terribly in awe of your every move. I'm sure to you it's probably the same ole same ole, but to me ... I really love hearing everything you write. Can't wait to hear about the new arrivals.
Babs, it is the most beautiful hair I have ever seen, genetics have been good to you, I can see why you just love your hairdresser
We finally got the fence up in the back yard. The dogs have been looking forward to this for so long. Poor Snowy needed to run so bad! It's been 3 months since she was able to de-energize.
We've been working on it all weekend and today we put the wire up and secured it.
We still need to build the gates, but I think we may do that tomorrow. The girls spent the last part of the afternoon out back, free, wandering, fertilizing etc.
It was really really cold last night, tonight it will be cold but not terribly. Tomorrow we will do some planting of things I got on Sunday and spread some more needles in the yard. We are hoping the next 10 days will be cool and mild.
Molly
:^)))
LOL Babs - that was a good one!! May I have such a sense of humor when I reach that age!!
Patti - one good result of anesthesia!! I found that my hair came out by the handfuls after I had surgery. Doc said that was normal - hair would regrow. So far it still seems mighty thin to me!! I think Bab's has my quota...
Mary - or should we call you nurse/doc Mary!! What a responsibility....Hope everything goes smoothly for the lambs and you!!
Molly - oh what fun those dogs must be having...getting the kinks out and fertilizing etc.!! So glad they have some freedom.
I went to DGS valentine party - he was shocked to see me!! I met his teacher - she started teaching there the year I did my student teaching, so we are the same age. I cannot believe she is still teaching - told me she plans on working at least one or two more years. I don't know how she does it!!
M5- ahhhh a massage....I can feel it here.....DH is going to give me a long back/neck rub tonight- no getting away with a 5 minute one!!
We went and got his chain saw sharpener and my pans...then KFC for dinner - one of the best VD I've had...
Unfortunately, I am feeling like I am getting something - achy bones/muscles and chills. Gonna lay low tonight!
Well, yesterday's promise of Keeping up, went by the wayside very early. Mr. B got me up at 5:30 this morning, but did lay back down for about an hour. Then up, drank coffee, read the paper, and started making brownies to take to DGD Valentine's party. DH said that since it was going to be a busy day, we would just leave early and have lunch on the way to DGD's school, to celebrate Valentine's Day. That was fine by me. The last time DGD was here, she straightened my desk, and I had DH's valentine card there. Well I started to look for it last night, and have not found it yet. I asked her today, and of course she has no idea where it is. So with a little luck, I will find it in time to give it to him by Easter, maybe!!!
Sarv, I'm so glad to hear that you went to DGS party. Besides me and DH there was 1 father, and 1 mother there. I guess that folks are just too busy to make time to go to things like this. Gabriella was so glad that we had come. We drove about 3 hours round trip to make it. But we didn't want to disappoint her. And one little girl in her class, came and gave me and DH a valentine each, because we didn't have any. What a sweet thoughtful gesture. When we were ready to leave, I went over and thanked her, and told her that that was the only valentine I had gotten today, and I really appreciated it. She just beamed!!
It's a good thing that I had put some beans in the crock pot this morning, because it was about 4:30 or 4:45 when we got home. I fried some potatoes and made some cornbread and that was supper. Sure reminds me of my time at home.
Well thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for DMIl, and all the family. She got home from the hospital about 3:00 yesterday afternoon, and about 5 minutes after we walked in the door this afternoon, DSIL called to say that they had just taken her back to the hospital by ambulance. Same old problem, fluid build up and having difficulty breathing. Folks, I just don't know how much more this poor woman can endure.
Well, rest assured that I have read all your posts, and am very glad that it seemed to be a happy Valentine's Day for everyone. I won't bother to comment, but the talk about the hairdressers, I can relate to. Have had mine for 12 years, and love her. I do extra things for her, and often tell her how much I appreciate her.
Mary please keep us posted about the lambs. My dad used to raise sheep, and I remember the "black sheep" that were rejected by their mothers. How sad. Have raised many that were motherless.
Well, I am going to look at other forums, as tomorrow will probably be as busy as today. I have a chiropractor's appointment in the morning, then taking DM to have her hearing aids checked, cleaned and adjusted.
If anybody has some extra unused hours in their days, will you please let me borrow some. I just never seem to have as much time as I need to get everything done. I won't promise that I can repay them, but I sure will try to. LOL.
I may be back.
Me again. Just one lamb so far, I brought her and her momma to the barn, then about 3 hours later went back and brought in a ewe that was ready to have some but hadn't yet. I spotted her out in the field walking around with the flock talking (baaaa, baaaa like she was looking for somebody) so I went back to the barn, got the other ewe's lamb, put it in the lambmobile and putt putted out into the field. Of course the lamb was hollaring for her momma which is just what I wanted her to do, and the ewe came to us, I made a U turn (good pun huh?) and went back to the barn with the expectant ewe following. I carried the lamb into the pen where I wanted her, shut the gate and hoisted the lamb out over the fence and back in with her own momma. The new one probably has a lamb or two by now and the owner will be checking them soon.
Dcat, sorry your MIL is back in the hospital. It's so sad to have them be so sick and there is really nothing we can do except pray and be there to hold a hand.
Meanwhile, I need to clean up the kitchen and hit the shower. The Olympics are on, I'll watch them until I get sleepy, that won't take long, I'm sleepy now See you all tomorrow.
Well, I futzed around some other forums, and have had my DG fix for today.
Mary is not the only one getting sleepy, so as unusual as it is, I am OFF TO BED!!. Now only hope that if I fall asleep quickly, I will stay asleep, and now be back here at 2 or 3 am.
To all I didn't address, sorry, but I am thinking of you and waving hello to all.
Good night and may it be a restful one.
Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone had a share of something special today. I was surprised when I got home tonight to find not only a box of chocolates, but some roses and a hi-tech baking thermometer. DH also cooked supper tonight.
D'cat, so sorry that your MIL's progress proved to be illusory. She must be terribly depressed by now and that's not likely to help her either.
Mary, do you ever find time to relax a little? Since even most of your riding is competitive (or practice for the competition) seems like you're always working at something!
Sarv, I'm also a charter member of the weird breakfast club --- have always hated milk so cereal is not a big draw. Toast just doesn't usually do it either. I tend to crave protein but am not a morning person and don't usually feel like bothering to cook eggs (even if I do have the time), so hmmm, what's in the fridge? Left-over pork chop, cold pizza, etc, etc., sounds good to me!
The teddy bear and kitty stories reminded me of something that my mother told me about. She has a teddy bear collection which is currently threatening to take over the living room. One of them is a huge fuzzy one and a few years ago she propped it next to her sleeping cat because she thought that the room was a little chilly and that it would help to keep her warm. The poor cat woke up a while later and opened her eyes to see a huge face nose to nose with her. The cat made an Olympic upwards and backwards leap a split second later, landing somewhere behind the couch. What a rude awakening!
Babs, nice braid! I never could figure out how to do the French braid --- even bought one of those gadgets that's supposed to make it easy to do yourself. Yeah, sure.
Molly, glad the dogs got a chance to stretch their legs at last. Your place is shaping up marvelously.
PITA clients, customers, etc. Oh yeah, I've had some beauts too. One of our current "un-favorites" was in again today. He takes up huge amounts of time, wants to see (but not buy) half the radio control truck parts hanging up on the wall and doesn't mind in the least that he's causing a blockage for customers who actually want to PAY for something. DH will be taking the store tomorrow and is vowing mayhem if this guy shows up again then.
Carol, good luck with the funding search. I hope your son finds some other interests soon so that he'll quickly get over the hurt of being banned from wrestling.
Anyone heard anything from the other Carol (okus)? I can't remember whether she'd said anything about being away for a while or not ---- just dawned on me that she hasn't been around.
Hi to MG, pati, 101, darius, oz, Maria, suzieq, M5, and anyone else that I might have missed. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
Mary the little lamb sounds sooo sweet. Nice trick that was.
Defoe, so sorry about your dear MIL.
I hope both of you have a good night's sleep. You two certainly deserve one.
Susan ... am wondering how your DD is?
To all those who didn't check in today am saying hello and am missing you ... to the rest of you ... am waving and saying good night.
... Elaine
Sorry for taking so long on an update on DD. She spent yesterday, hurting and taking her pain meds and drinking, drinking, drinking, when she was awake of course. She said she woke up this morning and didn't hurt at all. So I was thinking maybe she had just dissolved it. Talked to her about 8:30 and she's hurting again. But it IS lower down and not as sharp, just an ache and there is a burning sensation when she goes so she is hoping it is moving along.
Being that she is how she is, she is planning on returning to school tomorrow at 7:30 in spite of the fact the thing isn't gone. I told her she was crazy but once again she is how she is. LOL
I hope she doesn't double over in front of her class. I think she has three or four labs to teach tomorrow. ahhhh what can I do????
Had a beautiful Valentines Day, DH got me a very nice card. DS came up for the afternoon and supper, was going to attend the PT but decided he would rather watch Olympic hockey instead. Don't blame him. They say I am progressing well, but it is too slow for me. I want to be back now!!!!
The temp is supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow and then we are supposed to get the coldest weather we have had so far. Should do in a lot of plants. Makes me sick!
I love lambs. When we were walking, they used to have sheep in a field we walked by. They would have their darling little lambs and I would get to touch them because the ewes were 'ewesed' to me since I fed them. I have lots of pictures of them. They are soooo cute.
I feel so bad for your DMIL, that has to be so discouraging for her and everyone else. Bless her heart, I will say more healing prayers for her too.
I will go get the daily up for tomorrow and be back to give you the link.
Night all,
Susan

edited because I want to thank Babs for the great dmail she sent me concerning DD's kidney stone. It was so helpful, I sent it on to her and she was very glad to have the information. You are a dear to help us like that.
