Member /Subscriber Indicator+Forum Open or Subscriber Only

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

I just notice a posting on one of the Open Forums where a subscriber told a newcomer/member that their information should have been posted elsewhere. The elsewhere forum mentioned was subscriber only.

I can see this type of situation happening more frequently as we grow. Also unless a subscriber knows the forum is "open" they may not be aware that what they are posting can be view by non-subscribers.

I know you list of "to do" is long, hope you don't mind me posting this "enhancement" idea here.

That is something that will occur from time to time (it used to happened when we had just a few open forums, too.) Any suggestions on how to avoid it?

Terry,

I think some of the situations could be avoided by having

- A subscriber/member indicator on the Author Information
- A "Open" or "Subscriber Only" indicator on the Forum Heading which appears at the top of the thread.

Maybe the (*) could be after it says Identification discussion forum, as a reminder when the forum is in the Home

I do however dislike the idea of putting the advertising for sub or member on each author/poster/member/sub, IMHO that would make ME feel like some postings here are more worth to answere.
If you are to leave someone info that in any way makes you uneasy to be "public" leave that to D-mail or check the persons homepage

Could the "Open" forums have a unique color as part of the header? Something that stands out, like a striped or checkerboard look in place of the solid blue shown above.
I have to be careful on the new Northeast Forum and don't always remember.

I am with Judy, we need something to mark the two groups better now that the non subscribers can post in major areas. I would think soemthing simple like the subscribers names are in green and the members are in blue or something might be the key... or have soemthing under the names of the subscribers like Judy stated. I think these are great ideas and will just help some of us know why there is off topic chat in those areas from time to time.

Terry I dont know for sure what the best way to watch the threads would be but I have an idea that might help you and Dave too. What if you had subscribers posted over checking the threads to keep them on subject and they could earmark someway for you all to check it. Just would take some of the load off you guys. I also dont think it should be know who these subscribers are if you use my idea to everyone else - would take people being stand offish or hurt feelingsfrom being taled on.. anyway take it or not (I dont know if it would work.. .. .. but I think it might!)
