It's really difficult to find a topic I really want to join in, and then to have to wade through all the old posts first before I get to what the topic of the day is, rather than what it changed from when it was first posted. Also the pics are deceiving when you want to click on it because it's attractive, only to learn it's from last September. I much prefer Garden Web's method of organizing the posts. (No, I don't post over there much -- got kicked out a few years ago!!)
Can you arrange the forums by date of last post?
Once you access a thread, you can add it to your watched thread list (link at the top of the forum.) That way, you can forget about it until someone else posts to it and it re-appears on your home page.
When you re-access the post, the "skip to new" link (at the top, above the first post) will let you bypass all the old posts, and take you to where you left off, starting with the fist post you haven't yet read.
If you have a forum you're interested in, you can add it to your favorites (the link to do so is in the top right-hand corner. Then when you access your home page, you can quickly spot if there's been a new thread or activity in that forum, because they appear in chronological order.
Yes, but the photo and the topic stay the same, unlike the subject, if you know what I mean.
revclaus - I know at first it looks a lot harder but this site is set up sooooo much better then GW once you get used to it. You just have play with the forums a little and the threads and forums along with how they are set up really makes good logic. I hope you love it here like we do! Mitch
I've been a member here for several years! I still would rather have it worked out like GW, even though I HATE GW, and much prefer DG. Just my 2 cents.
I just joined GW about a week ago, so I'm still sort of muddling my way through here. I understand what revclaus is saying. But if I remember to add a thread to my watch list, that seems to work pretty well. The trouble is remembering to do it, which is my problem (old timer's disease?), not DG's. Overall, I much prefer DG over GW so far.
